야생 가침박탈(Exochorda serratifolia)의 조경원예화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wild Exochorda serratifolia for Landscape Horticuitural Cultivation)

  • Exochorda serratifolia, broad-leaved shrub has beautiful flowers and is resistant to cold, shade and decease. New this native plant is considered to be worth being exploited as the outstanding plant for landscaping and horticulture. So this study was executed to utilize Exochorda serratifolia as the planting material for landscaping and horticulture through the survey of its habitat environment and the experimennt of its seed physiology and germination, vegetative propagation, culture and utilization, etc.. The results are as follows ; 1. The color of the flower is white, blooming in the early and middle of May and the seeds ripen late in Sep.. 2. The elevation, elevation, gradient and direction of the native habitat were 250m, 20-25$^{\circ}$and northern side respectively. 3. The soil pH of the natural habitat was 5.3 and soil fertility was poor. 4. Exochorda serratifolia appeared as indicator within P. densiflora community and its neighboring species were Q. mongolica, Q. dentata, R. mucronulatum, L. obtusiloba, E. oxyphillus, C. heterolphylla, var thunbergii, etc.. 5. The optimum temperature for seed germination was found at 20$^{\circ}C$ and the longer the stratification period at 5$^{\circ}C$ was, the lower the germination rate was. 6. The treat merits of GA and Kinetin increased the seed germination rate, especially under the dark condition but their high concentrations decreased the seed germination rate. 7. The rooted rate of the greenwood cutting was the highest at IBA 100ppm plot of vermiculite bed but its high concentration decreased the rooted rate conspicuously. 8. In the tissue culture, the each 1.0 ppd plot of NAA, Kinetin and NAA 1.0ppm + Kinetin showed the best growth. And the mixture of NAA 1.0ppm and Kinetin showed better growth than the single treatment of NAA or Kinetin did. 9. Transplanted Exochorda serratifolia showed healthy growth with shaded environmental condition(42.1% light intensity), therefore they can be cultivated as a shade tolerant landscape plant. 10. It was considered that Exochorda serratifolia was applicable to group planting at shade places or under trees in parks, homes, etc..

Effects of Annatto (Bixa orellana L.) Seeds Powder on Physicochemical Properties, Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Activities of Pork Patties during Refrigerated Storage

  • This study investigated the effect of the powder produced by ball-milling the outer layer of annatto (Bixa orellana L.) seeds on the physicochemical properties as well as the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of pork patties over 14 d of refrigerated storage (4±1℃). Five pork patty treatments were produced containing three different concentrations of annatto seeds, 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5% (ANT0.1, ANT0.25, ANT0.5), 0.1% ascorbic acid (AA0.1), and a control (CTL). Based on the results, annatto seed powder appeared to show antioxidant activity. The Hunter color values of pork patties were affected by the addition of annatto seed powder, which increased the redness and yellowness values, but decreased the lightness of the patties (p<0.05). To evaluate the antioxidative effects of annatto on pork patties, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and peroxide values (POV) were analyzed over 14 d of refrigerated storage. Treatments containing annatto seed showed lower TBARS and POV than control (CTL) samples (p<0.05). The volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) of the pork patties containing annatto seeds were lower than that of CTL at the end of storage (p<0.05). Although no differences in total bacterial counts were observed between control and treated patties, those containing annatto seeds had lower microbial counts for Enterobacteriacease than CTL or AA 0.1%. Therefore, annatto seed powder might be a good source of natural antioxidants for the production of meat products.

콩과식물 종실 추출물의 유산균에 대한 생육반응 (Growth Responses of Lactic Acid Bacteria to Leguminous Seed Extracts)

  • 26종 콩과식물 종실의 메탄올 조추출물의 Bifidobacterium adolescentis, B. longun, B. bifidum, Lactobacillus casei에 대한 생육촉진 및 생육억제 활성을 탄소원 배지와 비탄소원 배지를 이용하여 in vitro 혐기조건하에서 각각 분광학적 및 여지확산법으로 검정한 결과 생육반응은 공시세균과 콩의 종류에 따라 달리 나타났다. 콩과식물 종실중, 대두(밝은 청색 종실)와 땅콩 (짙은 갈색 종실) 추출물은 유산균의 생육을 촉진하였는데, 이러한 결과로 부터 이들 콩과식물 종실에 탄소원과 비탄소원의 비피더스 인자의 존재를 알 수 있었다. 공시 유산균 중에서 L. casei에서 가장 현저한 생육측진 반응을 나타내었다. 또한, 모든 콩과식물 종실시료는 상기 유산균의 생육을 저해하지 않았다.

환경조건이 보리밭 우점 잡초인 갈퀴덩굴의 발아에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Environmental Conditions on Germination of Galium spurium L.)

  • 보리밭에 우점하여 방제가 어려운 잡초인 갈퀴 덩굴의 최적발아 온도, 휴면타파 온도, 출현심도 그리고 적정 토양수분을 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 갈퀴덩굴은 10월 중순에 발생하고, 5월 말에 성숙하며 종자의 특성은 크기가 1-1.2mm, 천립중이 1,478g인 암갈색이었다. 휴면타파 온도는 $5^{\circ}C$가 좋았고 온도가 높을수록 휴면타파 효과는 적었으며, 발아 최적온도는 $10^{\circ}C$이었다. 발아가 잘 되는 토양 심도는 2-5cm 범위이었고, 적정 토양수분은 사양토에서 23.5%이었다. 발 상태에 매몰한 종자의 발아율은 매몰 기간이 길수록 증가하였고, 논에 매몰한 종자는 1개월 후에 모두 사멸하였다.

Analysis of Dietary Fiber of 66 Korean Varieties of Sprout Beans and Bean Sprouts

  • The present study was conducted to determine a high-fiber variety of sprout bean and bean sprout. Sixty-six varieties of Korean sprout beans and thirty varieties of Korean bean sprouts were analyzed for their total dietary fiber (TDF) using a combination of enzymatic and gravimetric methods adopted by AOAC. The average and range of the TDF contents of the 66 varieties of sprout beans were 21.73$\pm$2.43% and 16.60~29.2% (dry basis), respectively. The top five types of sprout beans with high TDF anions the 66 samples were KLG10658 (29.2%), Dawonkong (28.46%), Sohokong (25.66%), Moohankong (25.465%) and Samnamkong (24.94%). The mean TDF content of sprout beans was relatively high in the variety with yellow seed coat color and a smaller seed size (<15 g/100 seeds) than the ones with other colors and of medium or large seed size. The average and range of the TDF content of the 30 varieties of bean sprouts were 24.48$\pm$3.9% and 18.3~33.38%, respectively. Dawonkong sprouts showed the highest TDF content (33.38%). The average TDF content of bean sprouts was 1.16 times higher than that of the corresponding seed beans. The TDF content of bean sprouts did not significantly change during the days of culture. The TDF content in the different parts of the bean sprout were high in the order of roots, hypocotyl and cotyledon.

콩 탈곡손상 절감을 위한 콩 탈곡통 개발 (Development of Threshing Cylinder for Reduction of Soybean Seed Damage)

  • This study was carried out to develop soybean thresher which is able to reduce the soybean threshing damage in comparison to the conventional thresher. A threshing cylinder with different diameter of 480 and 384 mm at each end and with one quarter disc pegs of 60 mm radius was developed and attached to the prototype thresher. A conventional thresher which has a threshing cylinder with $\wedge$ type threshing pegs and same diameter of 480 mm at each end was used for comparative test. A series of comparative performance test was conducted using sun-yu and chung-ja soybean. For sun-yu bean, which is white and usually used for soybean paste and soy sauce, the ratio of damaged beans of prototype ranged 2-3% for 330-360 rpm which is recommended cylinder speed by manufacturer. The ratio of damaged beans of conventional thresher was 3-4% for the same range of cylinder speed. chung-ja beans with black color usually shows high damaged ratio compared with white beans, thus cylinder speed of 250-300 rpm is recommended by manufacturer to reduce the damaged ratio. For this range of cylinder speed, the damaged ratio of prototype was 1.3-1.4% and it was 2.7-6.1% for the conventional thresher. Thus prototype is able to reduce the damaged ratio 1.5-5.0% compared with conventional thresher. Prototype shows 0.4% of unthreshed soybean ratio for sun-yu bean in the optimum range of cylinder speed and it was 0.87% for the conventional thresher. For chung-ja bean, the ratio of unthreshed soybean was almost same for both prototype and conventional thresher with the value of 4.0%. The reason of high unthreshed soybean ratio for chung-ja bean compared sun-yu bean is due to the high seed moisture content of 29.11% which is much higher than that of the recommended.

약용작물 고수 종자의 형태학적 특성 및 발아조건에 관한 연구 (Seeds Characteristics and Germination of Coriandrum sativum L. on Several Storage Conditions)

  • This study was conducted to obtain the basic data related to seed characteristics and germination conditions of the Coriandrum sativum L. at different storage condition and temperature. The shape of fruit was oval with light brown color. Fruit was mericarp, biloculate, with one ovule in each locus. The length and width of seed were $1.37{\pm}0.067mm$ and $0.52{\pm}0.039mm$, respectively. Weight of 1,000 seeds was $6.55{\pm}0.15g$. Seeds which were stored at room ($15^{\circ}C$) and cold temperature ($4^{\circ}C$) in vinyl container showed the highest germination rate (93.3%) under the room temperature germination condition. Percentage of germination in cold and freeze temperature was 20% and 0%, respectively. Germination rate of room storage seeds with paper container increased to about 91.3%, however, decreased in cold ($4^{\circ}C$) and freeze storage ($-20^{\circ}C$) with paper container (76.7% and 78.0%, respectively). Germination rate of seed in vinyl stock container was better than that of paper stock container. Germination rate of seeds stored at room temperature for 4 years (2010 - 2013) ranged from 80.0% to 91.3%. Therefore, coriander seeds are expected to be stored at room temperature for increasing the germination rate and keeping a long term.

대두유전자원의 안전보존을 위한 계통간 발아수명검정 (Storability of Soybean Lines for Maintanance of Germplasm)

  • 대두유전자원의 안전보존을 위해서 50계통을 선정하고 온도 23$^{\circ}C$와 습도 60%가 넘지 않도록 유지시킬 수 있는 본 연구소의 저장고에 종자를 저장하면서 계속 일정 간격으로 발아력을 조사하는 한편 동일 계통의 종자를 온도 4$0^{\circ}C$와 습도 90%에서 인공적으로 노화촉진시켜 저장고에서의 발아력감퇴와 비교하였다. 저장초기의 평균발아율이 97%이었는데 반해 저장 42개월에는 62%로 저하되었는데 비교적 본 저장고에서 오랫동안 발아력이 유지된 셈이다. 종자의 크기와 종피색에 따라 발아력 유지의 정도에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났는데 대립보다 소립 또한 갈색이나 녹색보다 검정색이나 황색 계통에서 발아력 유지가 오래 지속되는 경향을 보였다. 인공노화촉진처리한 후의 계통간 발아력감퇴차이는 저장고에서의 것과 일치하는 것으로 나타났고, 특히 저장전에 계통간 종자 수명을 파악코저 할 때, 온도 4$0^{\circ}C$와 습도 90%에서 7일 처리가 가장 알맞는 것으로 사료된다.

Antioxidant Activity of Radish Seed Oil and the Quality and Storage Characteristics of Pork Patties with Added Radish Seed Oil

  • This study investigated the antioxidant activity of radish seed oil (RSO) and its effects on the quality and storage characteristics of pork patties. To assess the antioxidant capacity of RSO, this study analyzed fatty acid composition, peroxide value (PV), and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity. Pork patties were manufactured with the addition of RSO-0.4%, 0.8%, 1.6%, and 2.4%-and measured in terms of proximate composition, pH, water holding capacity (WHC), cooking loss (CL), color, texture profile analysis, and a sensory evaluation. Total microbial count (TMC), volatile basic nitrogen (VBN), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), and PV were measured at 1, 3, and 7 days of refrigerated storage. The DPPH radical scavenging activity of RSO was found to be 75.46%. In the cases of WHC and CL, there was no significant differences observed between RSO0.4%, RSO0.8%, and positive control (PC; p>0.05). Meanwhile, RSO2.4% showed significantly lower hardness, springiness, gumminess, and chewiness than PC (p<0.05), and these values tended to decrease with the addition of increasing RSO. In terms of storage characteristics, with an increase in the amount of RSO added, TMC, VBN, TBARS, and PV all decreased; among the treatment groups, RSO2.4% showed the lowest values. In conclusion, RSO exhibits antioxidant activity, but when added in large amounts, it negatively affects the quality characteristics of patties while positively impacting their storage properties, thus necessitating a balanced consideration of both outcomes. Therefore, adding 1.6% RSO is considered to be the most appropriate level for formulations to be used in practice.
