CCTV-Based Multi-Factor Authentication System

  • Many security systems rely solely on solutions based on Artificial Intelligence, which are weak in nature. These security solutions can be easily manipulated by malicious users who can gain unlawful access. Some security systems suggest using fingerprint-based solutions, but they can be easily deceived by copying fingerprints with clay. Image-based security is undoubtedly easy to manipulate, but it is also a solution that does not require any special training on the part of the user. In this paper, we propose a multi-factor security framework that operates in a three-step process to authenticate the user. The motivation of the research lies in utilizing commonly available and inexpensive devices such as onsite CCTV cameras and smartphone camera and providing fully secure user authentication. We have used technologies such as Argon2 for hashing image features and physically unclonable identification for secure device-server communication. We also discuss the methodological workflow of the proposed multi-factor authentication framework. In addition, we present the service scenario of the proposed model. Finally, we analyze qualitatively the proposed model and compare it with state-of-the-art methods to evaluate the usability of the model in real-world applications.

  • Banking systems are sensitive to data privacy since users' data, if not well protected, may be used to perform fake transactions. Blockchains, public and private, are frequently used in such systems thanks to their efficiency and high security. Public blockchains fail to fully protect users' data, despite their power in the accuracy of the transactions. The private blockchain is better used to protect the privacy of the sensitive data. They are not open and they apply authorization to login into the blockchain. However, they have a lower security compared to public blockchain. We propose in this paper a hybrid public-private architecture that profits from network virtualization. The main novelty of this proposal is the use of network virtualization that helps to reduce the complexity and efficiency of the computations. Simulations have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed solution. Findings prove the efficiency of the scheme in reducing complexity and enhancing data privacy by guarantee high security. The contribution conducted by this proposal is that the results are verified by the centralized controller that ensures a correct validation of the resulted blockchains. In addition, computation complexity is to be reduced by profiting from the cooperation performed by the virtual agents.

  • Wireless LAM has the advantage of extension, flexibility and easiness of installation and maintenance. However, due to the characteristics of wireless media, it is vulnerable to security attacks. PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) is estimated to be a good solution offering security function to wireless LAM including global roaming. It offers high security functions as authentication confidentiality and digital signature while it generates big overheads such as CRL search and certificate verification. The overheads can not be avoided during the initial authentication. However, when we consider the case of handoff, it can be minimized through the fast handoff. In this paper, we design a fast handoff authentication mechanism based on PKI in the wireless LAM and analyze the performance of the scheme.

Blockchain and Physically Unclonable Functions Based Mutual Authentication Protocol in Remote Surgery within Tactile Internet Environment

  • The Tactile Internet technology is considered as the evolution of the internet of things. It will enable real time applications in all fields like remote surgery. It requires extra low latency which must not exceed 1ms, high availability, reliability and strong security system. Since it appearance in 2014, tremendous efforts have been made to ensure authentication between sensors, actuators and servers to secure many applications such as remote surgery. This human to machine relationship is very critical due to its dependence of the human live, the communication between the surgeon who performs the remote surgery and the robot arms, as a tactile internet actor, should be fully and end to end protected during the surgery. Thus, a secure mutual user authentication framework has to be implemented in order to ensure security without influencing latency. The existing methods of authentication require server to stock and exchange data between the tactile internet entities, which does not only make the proposed systems vulnerables to the SPOF (Single Point of Failure), but also impact negatively on the latency time. To address these issues, we propose a lightweight authentication protocol for remote surgery in a Tactile Internet environment, which is composed of a decentralized blockchain and physically unclonable functions. Finally, performances evaluation illustrate that our proposed solution ensures security, latency and reliability.

  • Recently, new cyber threats targeting new technologies are increasing, and hackers' attack targets are becoming broader and more intelligent. To counter these attacks, major security companies are using traditional EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) solutions. However, the conventional method does not consider the context, so there is a limit to the accuracy and efficiency of responding to an advanced attack. In order to improve this problem, the need for a security solution centered on XDR (Extended Detection and Response) has recently emerged. In this study, we present effective threat detection and countermeasures in a changing environment through XDR trends and development roadmaps using machine learning-based context analysis.

  • 최근 악성코드의 발전은 사이버 위협의 전방면에 걸쳐 영향을 주고 있다. DDoS, APT를 포함한 스팸 발송 등과 같은 사이버 공격은 악성코드를 기반으로 한다. 또한 이에 대응하기 위해 다양한 형태의 악성코드 솔루션이 존재하고 있다. 악성코드 솔루션은 오픈소스와 상업용 프로그램으로 나눌 수 있는데 상업용 프로그램은 악성코드뿐만 아니라 PC관리의 전반적인 부분을 담당하고 있다. 악성코드를 탐지하는 방법은 시그니처 방식과 해시DB를 이용한 방식 등 다양한 방식이 있다. 본 논문에서는 오픈소스기반 악성코드 솔루션을 비교하여 어떠한 방식이 더 효과적인가를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 악성코드 방지 프로그램을 개발하려는 개발자가 비용효과적인 악성코드 탐지 방법을 잘 선택할 수 있는 가이드라인을 제공한다.

  • Currently, even if control and mock hacking are performed for the security of web servers, vulnerabilities continue to occur and be hacked. To solve this problem, we have developed a secure web server that can control all web communication using sockets between L4 and L5. And when giving HTTP responses, we proposed a method of combining files and headers in advance. As a result, both security and speed could be improved. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed the reason why vulnerabilities occur even if control and mock hacking occur, a solution to it, and a security web server development method that can maintain security up to DB.

  • 중고 거래 플랫폼 사용이 증가함에 따라 각 중고 거래 플랫폼에 많은 사진과 글이 업로드되고 있다. 플랫폼에 올린 사진과 글을 통해 일차적으로 해당 이용자의 나이대, 사는 동네, 가족 관계, 신체 사이즈, 특정 제품 취향을 알 수 있다. 중고 거래 플랫폼에서 전화번호를 얻게 될 경우, 이차적으로 카카오톡을 통해 이용자의 얼굴 사진, 연동된 계정을 알 수 있다. 이때 얻은 얼굴 정보와 이름, 계정을 통해 인스타그램, 카카오스토리, 페이스북 등 SNS 를 통한 해당 이용자의 추가적인 개인정보들을 얻을 수 있다. 이처럼 이용자가 작성한 글을 통해 사적인 정보가 드러남으로써 심각한 개인정보 유출로 이어질 수 있다. 중고 거래 플랫폼 이용자의 직접적인 입력으로 인한 개인정보 노출을 예방하기 위해서는 이용자에게 게시물에 포함된 개인정보와 개인정보 유출의 위험성을 인지시켜 유출 위험성이 높은 개인정보는 게시하지 않도록 해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 중고 거래 판매 게시물 기반 개인정보 유출 워크플로우를 작성하여 중고 거래 플랫폼에서 나타나는 개인정보 유출의 현황을 분석하고 이를 방지하기 위한 방법을 제안했다.

Early Career Turnover Model and Career Path for Self-realization: Findings in Korea's Information Security Industry

  • Management of the workforce in the early career stage who enter information security work after graduating from college or university so that they can continue to develop their information security careers without leaving the organization can be a solution to the problem of absolute shortage of staffing and lack of skills. This is because the workforce can improve their job skills, and organizations can build a stable, cost-effective human resource management system. This paper constructed and verified a turnover intention research model focusing on the factors that affect the turnover intention of early-stage workforce who took their first steps in society as an information security workforce after graduating from university or college; it confirmed that self-realization is a crucial factor. Furthermore, with in-depth interviews, the career path information of skilled workers, which is essential information necessary for self-realization, was analyzed, and the direction of HRM for self-realization of the workforce in the early career stage was presented.

  • The 4th Industrial Revolution technology has emerged as a solution to build a hyper-connected, super-intelligent network-oriented operational environment, overcoming the obstacles of reducing troops and defense budgets facing the current military. However, the overall risk management, including the increase in complexity of the latest inform ation technology and the verification of the impact with the existing information system, is insufficient, leading to serious threats to system integrity and availability, or negatively affecting interoperability between systems. It can be inhibited. In this paper, we suggest cyber threat response strategies for our military to prepare for cyber threats by examining information security risk management in the United States in order to protect military information assets from cyber threats that may arise due to the advancement of information technology.
