Cross-Shaped Magnetic Coupling Structure for Electric Vehicle IPT Charging Systems

  • Inductive power transfer (IPT) technology allows for charging of electric vehicles with security, convenience and efficiency. However, the IPT system performance is mainly affected by the magnetic coupling structure which is largely determined by the coupling coefficient. In order to get this applied to electric vehicle charging systems, the power pads should be able to transmit stronger power and be able to better sustain various forms of deviations in terms of vertical, horizontal direction and center rotation. Thus, a novel cross-shaped magnetic coupling structure for IPT charging systems is proposed. Then an optimal cross-shaped magnetic coupling structure by 3-D finite-element analysis software is obtained. At marking locations with average parking capacity and no electronic device support, a prototype of a 720*720mm cross-shaped pad is made to transmit 5kW power at a 200mm air gap, providing a $1.54m^2$ full-power free charging zone. Finally, the leakage magnetic flux density is measured. It indicates that the proposed cross-shaped pad can meet the requirements of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) according to the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA).

Negotiation about size was expose to the tribe of knowledge about element that do furniture and detail of necessary each space in life style of our country. We must present furnitures or detail element that appear by emotion of our country and detailed item of furnitures' size etc.. in guide line. It is immediate that creation of guide that architects can approach easily for lacking abroad architects of interests by code difference in each country is pressing. 3) In residing plan 4 architects of 5 architects applied similarly guide line in design. Most architects look by active support that make synthetic housing complex. and this is construed that act positively to make by unified residing.   • The tip of these catheter with straight needles is not able to reach in the vicinity of the disc bulging, which are the cause of the low back pain and because the far indirect radio-frequency treatment results in the decompression, the nucleoplasty has the limit. Many incurable diseases has not been solved due to the unexistence of the advanced technique for the MIS human body catheter device. To increase the possibility of nucleoplasty, the needle tip should be located at the closest area of the lesion. For this reason, the best way to increase the success rate of the operation is that the needle tip should access 3-dimensionally to the operating field as soon as possible. To achieve this aim, our studies are restricted as follows: 1) the SMA catheter design to control the 3-dimensional direction, 2) the security of the immediate response by the positive control of the SMA element thermal distribution using Peltier thermoelectric elements, 3) the aquisition of the control data by monitoring the relationship between the temperature of SMA element and the displacement, and 4) the design of the controller to guarantee the accurate location.

  • In the unsaturated soil, suction, the negative pore water pressure leads to increases of the yield stress and the plastic shear stiffness of the soil skeleton due to the growth in interparticle stress. Therefore, in this study, the stress-strain relationship based on cyclic elasto-plastic constitutive model extended for unsaturated soil considering the 1st and the 2nd yield functions was induced in order to account for these effects of suction under the dynamic loading condition such as the earthquake. Through the program code considering this relationship and the routine of the cyclic loading with the reversion of loading direction, the numerical simulation of the cyclic triaxial test under the unsaturated condition would be possible. It is expected that the results of this study possibly contribute to the accuracy improvement on the prediction of unsaturated soil behavior under the dynamic loading condition.

  • Water, energy, and food security already became a risk that threatens people around the world. Increasing of resources demand, rapid urbanization, decreasing of natural resources and climate change are four major problems inducing resources' scarcity. Indeed, water, energy, and food are interconnected each other thus cannot be analyzed separately. That is, for simple example, energy needs water as source for hydropower plant, water needs energy for distribution, and food needs water and energy for production, which is defined as W-E-F nexus. Due to their complicated linkage, it needs a computer model to simulate and analyze the nexus. Development of a computer simulation model using system dynamics approach makes this linkage possible to be visualized and quantified. System dynamics can be defined as an approach to learn the feedback connections of all elements in a complex system, which mean, every element's interaction is simulated simultaneously. Present W-E-F nexus models do not calculate and simulate the element's interaction simultaneously. Existing models only calculate the amount of water and energy resources that needed to provide food, water, or energy without any interaction from the product to resources. The new proposed model tries to cope these lacks by adding the interactions, climate change effect, and government policy to optimize the best options to maintain the resources sustainability. On this first phase of development, the model is developed only to learn and analyze the interaction between elements based on scenario of fulfilling the increasing of resources demand, due to population growth. The model is developed using the Vensim, well-known system dynamics model software. The results are amount of total water, energy, and food demand and production for a certain time period and it is evaluated to determine the sustainability of resources.

Impact response of a novel flat steel-concrete-corrugated steel panel

  • A novel flat steel plate-concrete-corrugated steel plate (FS-C-CS) sandwich panel was proposed for resisting impact load. The failure mode, impact force and displacement response of the FS-C-CS panel under impact loading were studied via drop-weight impact tests. The combined global flexure and local indentation deformation mode of the FS-C-CS panel was observed, and three stages of impact process were identified. Moreover, the effects of corrugated plate height and steel plate thickness on the impact responses of the FS-C-CS panels were quantitatively analysed, and the impact resistant performance of the FS-C-CS panel was found to be generally improved on increasing corrugated plate height and thickness in terms of smaller deformation as well as larger impact force and post-peak mean force. The Finite Element (FE) model of the FS-C-CS panel under impact loading was established to predict its dynamic response and further reveal its failure mode and impact energy dissipation mechanism. The numerical results indicated that the concrete core and corrugated steel plate dissipated the majority of impact energy. In addition, employing end plates and high strength bolts as shear connectors could prevent the slip between steel plates and concrete core and assure the full composite action of the FS-C-CS panel.

  • The Korean nuclear industry had developed the SPACE (Safety and Performance Analysis Code for nuclear power plants) code, which adopts a two-fluid, three-field model that is comprised of gas, continuous liquid and droplet fields and has the capability to simulate three-dimensional models. According to the revised law by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) in Korea, the multiple failure accidents that must be considered for the accident management plan of a nuclear power plant was determined based on the lessons learned from the Fukushima accident. Generally, to improve the reliability of the calculation results of a safety analysis code, verification is required for the separate and integral effect experiments. Therefore, the goal of this work is to verify the calculation capability of the SPACE code for multiple failure accidents. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted to simulate a Control Element Drive Mechanism (CEDM) break with a safety injection failure using the ATLAS test facility, which is operated by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). This experiment focused on the comparison between the experiment results and code calculation results to verify the performance of the SPACE code. The results of the overall system transient response using the SPACE code showed similar trends with the experimental results for parameters such as the system pressure, mass flow rate, and collapsed water level in component. In conclusion, it can be concluded that the SPACE code has sufficient capability to simulate a CEDM break with a safety injection failure accident.

A numerical application of Bayesian optimization to the condition assessment of bridge hangers

  • Bridge hangers, such as those in suspension and cable-stayed bridges, suffer from cumulative fatigue damage caused by dynamic loads (e.g., cyclic traffic and wind loads) in their service condition. Thus, the identification of damage to hangers is important in preserving the service life of the bridge structure. This study develops a new method for condition assessment of bridge hangers. The tension force of the bridge and the damages in the element level can be identified using the Bayesian optimization method. To improve the number of observed data, the additional mass method is combined the Bayesian optimization method. Numerical studies are presented to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. The influence of different acquisition functions, which include expected improvement (EI), probability-of-improvement (PI), lower confidence bound (LCB), and expected improvement per second (EIPC), on the identification of damage to the bridge hanger is studied. Results show that the errors identified by the EI acquisition function are smaller than those identified by the other acquisition functions. The identification of the damage to the bridge hanger with various types of boundary conditions and different levels of measurement noise are also studied. Results show that both the severity of the damage and the tension force can be identified via the proposed method, thereby verifying the robustness of the proposed method. Compared to the genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and nonlinear least-square method (NLS), the Bayesian optimization (BO) performs best in identifying the structural damage and tension force.

  • This study is focused on the relation in the motive and the evaluation for the job in a special private security field. The supplement of the outstanding human resources is one of most important matter to improve the private security industry. For it the applicant's motive and evaluation of whose quality should be screened to recruit proper and oustanding human resources into the industry. For the study the follow elements would be considered. First, What is the real motive to apply the job and how prospect on the job the applicant will be taken. Second, what is different point of view to the job between male and female. Third, what relationship is in achieving the job performance between the temporary motive and the planed motive. Forth, what effects are on the job satisfaction and the planed motive for the job. With the above elements the survey was taken based on each sex for the study and the results are out as below. a) Male is in higher than female in taking with unplaned job motive and for job satisfaction is much higher in 1-20 age range. b) In general, the expectation on the job is much higher than the current job status, the male are in the expextation on the job and the female are in the the current job status. c) The job satisfaction is on positive effect to the planed taken job but the unplaned taken job is on negative. From the Research the most concerning element on the recruiting new employee is applicant's positive attitude on the job he/she will be taken.

A Study on Urban Open Space Selection Attributes as an Urban Entertainment Destination (도시 엔터테인먼트 목적지(UED)로서 도시 오픈 스페이스의 선택속성 연구)

  • This paper asks what the Selection Attributes of urban open space are which carries out a role as an Urban Entertainment Destination. Case studies have chosen the Cheonggyecheon Waterfront, Seoul Forest Park, Seonyudo Park and Banpo Hangang Park as the representative open spaces in Seoul. The methods of study are observation investigation, a literature investigation and the survey to 233 visitors that conducted the ANOVA analysis and Regression analysis by SPSS 18.0. As a result, first, the urban open space in Seoul has had 8 elements of UED; Landscape, Multi anchoring, Contextual links, Programmability, Community, Branded identity, Security and Service. Second, they are being used not the neighborhood type but a wide area type. Third, Landscape, Security and Service are most important while Programmability and Community are less important than other factors in EUOS factors. Lastly, it was analysed that the influential factor of revisitation and satisfaction is Landscape, which is the common factor. Security in revisitation and Contextual links in satisfaction are especially additional factors. The landscape property is an important element to make an Entertainment Urban Open Space(EUOS). The virtue of landscape in the EUOS relates not only park facility or program that installed in the place but also the overall mood involving park user's activities in the place. To be a successful EUOS, a park facility, program and the overall mood involving user's activities need to be integrative approach to enhance the virtue of landscape.
