  • In this paper, we introduce a new kind of expressions for privacy protection techniques in database, such as K-anonymity L-diversity and t-closeness. With such kind of expressions, we provide a new way to solve the privacy protection problems, such as Linear programming, Non-linear programming, Integer programming and so on. Also most of the heuristic techniques are also efficient to be adopted under the expressions given.

  • Most works done so far have concentrated on developing data modeling techniques such as multi-level relation for data protection. These techniques, however, cannot be applied to practical area. This is because they require new queries or new architectures. In this paper, we propose a query processing technique for multi-level databases using horizontal partitioning and views, which does not need any change in database architecture and query language.

  • Worldwide inter-operability for microwave access (WiMAX) is a promising technology that provides high data throughput with low delays for various user types and modes of operation. While much research had been conducted on physical and MAC layers, little attention has been paid to a comprehensive and efficient security solution for WiMAX. We propose a hybrid security solution combining identity-based cryptography (IBC) and certificate based approaches. We provide detailed message exchange steps in order to achieve a complete security that addresses the various kind of threats identified in previous research. While attaining this goal, efficient fusion of both techniques resulted in a 53% bandwidth improvement compared to the standard's approach, PKMv2. Also, in this hybrid approach, we have clarified the key revocation procedures and key lifetimes. Consequently, to the best of knowledge our approach is the first work that unites the advantages of both techniques for improved security while maintaining the low overhead forWiMAX.

  • Deterministic techniques have been applied in power system planning for many years and there is a growing interest in combining these techniques with probabilistic considerations to assess the increased system stress due to the restructured electricity environment. The overall reliability framework proposed in this paper incorporates the deterministic N-1 criterion in a probabilistic framework, and results in the joint inclusion of both adequacy and security considerations in system planning. The combined framework is achieved using system well-being analysis and traditional adequacy assessment. System well-being analysis is used to quantify the degree of N-1 security and N-1 insecurity in terms of probabilities and frequencies. Traditional adequacy assessment is Incorporated to quantify the magnitude of the severity and consequences associated with system failure. The concepts are illustrated by application to two test systems. The results based on the overall reliability analysis framework indicate that adequacy indices are adversely affected by a generation deficient environment and security indices are adversely affected by a transmission deficient environment. The combined adequacy and security framework presented in this paper can assist system planners to realize the overall benefits associated with system modifications based on the degree of adequacy and security, and therefore facilitate the decision making process.

  • Identity and access management in cloud computing is one of the leading significant issues that require various security countermeasures to preserve user privacy. An authentication mechanism is a leading solution to authenticate and verify the identities of cloud users while accessing cloud applications. Building a secured and flexible authentication mechanism in a cloud computing platform is challenging. Authentication techniques can be combined with other security techniques such as intrusion detection systems to maintain a verifiable layer of security. In this paper, we provide an interactive, flexible, and reliable multi-factor authentication mechanisms that are primarily based on a proposed Authentication Method Selector (AMS) technique. The basic idea of AMS is to rely on the user's previous authentication information and user behavior which can be embedded with additional authentication methods according to the organization's requirements. In AMS, the administrator has the ability to add the appropriate authentication method based on the requirements of the organization. Based on these requirements, the administrator will activate and initialize the authentication method that has been added to the authentication pool. An intrusion detection component has been added to apply the users' location and users' default web browser feature. The AMS and intrusion detection components provide a security enhancement to increase the accuracy and efficiency of cloud user identity verification.

  • Internet-of-Things (IoT) is an emerging technology that interconnects millions of small devices to enable communication between the devices. It is heavily deployed across small scale to large scale industries because of its wide range of applications. These devices are very capable of transferring data over the internet including critical data in few applications. Such data is exposed to various security threats and thereby raises privacy-related concerns. Even devices can be compromised by the attacker. Modern cryptographic algorithms running on traditional machines provide authentication, confidentiality, integrity, and non-repudiation in an easy manner. IoT devices have numerous constraints related to memory, storage, processors, operating systems and power. Researchers have proposed several hardware and software implementations for addressing security attacks in lightweight encryption mechanism. Several works have made on lightweight block ciphers for improving the confidentiality by means of providing security level against cryptanalysis techniques. With the advances in the cipher breaking techniques, it is important to increase the security level to much higher. This paper, focuses on securing the critical data that is being transmitted over the internet by PRESENT using key-based dynamic S-Box. Security analysis of the proposed algorithm against other lightweight block cipher shows a significant improvement against linear and differential attacks, biclique attack and avalanche effect. A novel key-based dynamic S-Box approach for PRESENT strongly withstands cryptanalytic attacks in the IoT Network.

  • As smartphones become more integral to daily life, security concerns, particularly regarding smishing, have risen significantly. With the increasing frequency and variety of smishing attacks, current detection methods struggle to provide effective solutions, with most commercial algorithms achieving around a 70% detection rate. This paper proposes a novel approach to enhancing smishing detection accuracy by utilizing Natural Language Processing to analyze message syntax and semantics, combined with URL Punycode conversion and whitelist techniques. The approach focuses on improving detection through comprehensive message analysis, aiming to address the limitations of existing preventive methods. The proposed system offers conceptual improvements in smishing detection strategies, providing a more robust framework for addressing evolving security challenges.

  • This paper suggests Effectiveness Evaluation Methods of DDoS attacks countermeasures model by simulation. According to the security objectives that are suggested by NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology), It represents a hierarchical Effectiveness Evaluation Model. we calculated the weights of factors that security objectives, security controls, performance indicator through AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis. Subsequently, we implemented Arena Simulation Model for the calculation of function points at the performance indicator. The detection and protection algorithm involve methods of critical-level setting, signature and anomaly(statistic) based detection techniques for Network Layer 4, 7 attacks. Proposed Effectiveness Evaluation Model can be diversely used to evaluate effectiveness of countermeasures and techniques for new security threats each organization.

  • Packing techniques, one of malicious code detection and analysis avoidance techniques, change code to reduce size and make analysts confused. Therefore, malwares have more time to spread out and it takes longer time to analyze them. Thus, these kind of unpacking techniques have been studied to deal with packed malicious code lately. Packed programs are unpacked during execution. When it is unpacked, the data inside of the packed program are changed. Because of these changes, the entropy value of packed program is changed. After unpacking, there will be no data changes; thus, the entropy value is not changed anymore. Therefore, packed programs could be unpacked finding the unpacking point using this characteristic regardless of packing algorithms. This paper suggests the generic unpacking mechanism using the method estimating the unpacking point through the variation of entropy values.

  • Intranet is an enterprise network using Internet protocols as communication standard and HTML as content standard. The Internet is like a house built on information water. It has a lot of strong points as a future enterprise network. However, companies wish to have confidence in its functional and economic effectiveness and security before adopting it. The security issue especially is a problem to solve inevitably. Enterprises will hold back to adopt Intranet unless there are enough security counter plans and countermeasures against vulnerabilities of Intranet(it is the wise decision !). Nevertheless the researches related to Intranet has been concentrated on techniques for building it. In this paper, we focus the security aspect of Intranet. Intranet security must be considered on the whole from structure design to users' services. We propose a security-based Intranet structure and security management system.
