This paper presents how to determine the optimal operating points of Unified Power Flow controllers (UPFC) the line flow control of which can enhance system security level. In order to analyze the effect of these devices on the power system, the decoupled model has been employed as a mathematical model of UPFC for power flow analysis. The security index that indicates the level of congestion of transmission line has been proposed and minimized by iterative method. The sensitivity of objective function for control variables of and UPFC has been derived, and it represents the change in the security index for a given set of changes in real power outputs of UPFC. The proposed algorithm with sensitivity analysis gives the optimal set of operating points of multiple UPECs that reduces the index or increases the security margin and Marquart method has been adopted as an optimization method because of stable convergence. The algorithm is verified by the 10-unit 39-bus New England system that includes multiple FACTS devices. The simulation results show that the power flow congestion can be relieved in normal state and the security margin can be guaranteed even in a fault condition by the cooperative operation of multiple UPECs.
Recently, with the rapid spread of mobile terminals such as smartphones and tablet PCs, social demand for mobile information security is increasing as new security issues that are difficult to predict as well as service evolution and lifestyle changes are raised. Smart terminals include smartphones, smart pads, chromebooks, laptops, etc. that provide various functions such as phone calls, text messages, Internet browsing, social media apps, games, and education. Along with the explosive spread of these smart terminals, they are naturally being used in our daily life and educational environment. In the mobile environment, behind the convenience of portability, there are more various security threats and vulnerabilities than in the general PC environment, and threats such as device loss, information leakage, and malicious codes exist, so it is necessary to take fundamental security measures at a higher level. In this study, we suggest ways to improve security by identifying trends in mobile smart information security and effectively responding to security threats to the mobile environment. In addition, it presents implications for various measures for effective class utilization along with correct security management methods and security measures related to the supply of smart devices that the Office of Education is promoting for schools at each level.

In order to publicly notify the information security (Internet or Cyber) threat level, the security companies have developed the Threat Meters. As the physical security devices are getting more intelligent and can be monitored and managed through networks, we propose a physical security threat meter (PSTM) to determine the current threat level of physical security; that is a very similar compared with the one of information security. For this purpose, we investigate and prioritize the physical security events, and consider the impact of temporal correlation among multiple security events. We also present how to determine the threshold values of threat levels, and then propose a practical PSTM using the threshold based decision. In particular, we show that the proposed scheme is fully implementable through showing the block diagram in detail and the whole implementation processes with the access controller and CCTV+video analyzer system. Finally the simulation results show that the proposed PSTM works perfectly under some test scenarios.
This research suggests the security countermeasures for solving technology outflow of small-medium companies in New IT Environment through level comparison of security cognition and security management between small-medium companies and major big companies. According to analysis results, it is poor for small-medium companies' level of security cognition and security management compared with major big companies. Small-medium companies need to manage technology outflow to major big companies' level in New IT Environment. Small-medium companies has started to build New IT Environment recently and it must build the appropriate security system for small-medium companies at the same time. Small-medium company has more problem with budget and proffessionals to maintain the security of technology outflow. Therefore government has to support systematic management for the security of technology outflow to Small-medium companies

From the early 1970s, the US government began to recognize that penetration testing could not assure the security quality of products. Results of penetration testing such as identified vulnerabilities and faults can be varied depending on the capabilities of the team. In other words none of penetration team can assure that "vulnerabilities are not found" is not equal to "product does not have any vulnerabilities". So the U.S. government realized that in order to improve the security quality of products, the development process itself should be managed systematically and strictly. Therefore, the US government began to publish various standards related to the development methodology and evaluation procurement system embedding "security-by-design" concept from the 1980s. Security-by-design means reducing product's complexity by considering security from the initial phase of development lifecycle such as the product requirements analysis and design phase to achieve trustworthiness of product ultimately. Since then, the security-by-design concept has been spread to the private sector since 2002 in the name of Secure SDLC by Microsoft and IBM, and is currently being used in various fields such as automotive and advanced weapon systems. However, the problem is that it is not easy to implement in the actual field because the standard or guidelines related to Secure SDLC contain only abstract and declarative contents. Therefore, in this paper, we present the new framework in order to specify the level of Secure SDLC desired by enterprises. Our proposed CIA (functional Correctness, safety Integrity, security Assurance)-level-based security-by-design framework combines the evidence-based security approach with the existing Secure SDLC. Using our methodology, first we can quantitatively show gap of Secure SDLC process level between competitor and the company. Second, it is very useful when you want to build Secure SDLC in the actual field because you can easily derive detailed activities and documents to build the desired level of Secure SDLC.
Today, the times of knowledge-intelligence made changes of the ordinary life of citizens society, and also changed greatly the circumstance of leadership in the military. The times of knowledge-intelligence changed the circumstances of national security and the features of warfares, and also make affecting decisively to senses and style of new who were servicing in the military. In order to response effectively against the changes of those leadership circumstances, senior level leadership should be understand in depth human psychology and battlefield circumstances in the dimension of policies and strategies, and should be executed their leadership. In this thesis, I reviewed the concept and vision of senior level leadership theories and cases about traits and roles In addition, I suggested development options for senior level leadership such as (1) high charactenstics and professionalism, (2)educational center of military for advanced democratic citizen and leadership, (3)execution of leadership in psychological leadership, (4)development of leadership needed in the battlefield Finally, the current military senior level leadership should be changed from one-side and authority style to the change-orientated style, which could believe and participate by themselves.
A current firewall or IDS (intrusion detection system) of the network level suffers from many vulnerabilities in internal computing servers. For a secure Linux implementation using system call hooking, this paper defines two requirements such as the multi-level security function of TCSEC B1 and a prevention of hacking attacks. This paper evaluates the secure Linux implemented in terms of the mandatory access control, anti-hacking and performance overhead, and thus shows the security, stability and availability of the multi-level secure Linux. At the kernel level this system protects various hacking attacks such as using Setuid programs, inserting back-door and via-attacks. The performance degradation is an average 1.18% less than other secure OS product.

It has been widely addressed that static analysis techniques can play important role in identifying potential security vulnerability reside in source code. This paper proposes the design and application of security metrics that use both vulnerability information extracted from the static analysis, and significant factors of information that software handles. The security metrics are useful for both developers and evaluators in that the metrics help them identity source code vulnerability in early stage of development. By effectively utilizing the security metrics, evaluators can check the level of source code security, and confirm the final code depending on the characteristics of the source code and the security level of information required.

Security in embedded devices has become a significant issue. Threats on the sup-ply chain, like using counterfeit components or inserting backdoors intentionally are one of the most significant issues in embedded devices security. To mitigate these threats, high-level security evaluation and certification more than EAL (Evaluation Assurance Level) 5 on CC (Common Criteria) are necessary on hardware components, especially on the cryptographic module such as AES. High-level security evaluation and certification require detecting covert channel such as backdoors on the cryptographic module. However, previous studies have a limitation that they cannot detect some kinds of backdoors which leak the in-formation recovering a secret key on the cryptographic module. In this paper, we present an expanded definition of backdoor on hardware AES module and show how to detect the backdoor which is never detected in Verilog HDL using model checker NuSMV.
This study is to present an improvement of physical security system operation by survey on the install and operation of physical security system of 90 facilities. The level of CCTV operation is higher than Access Control system and Intrusion Detection System. But the level of maintenance and management of physical security system is low. The rate of install of X-ray Inspection device show the concern on material detection, although the rate is low. The level of install and operation for the Integration of physical security system is low, so integration of security personnel and security system is necessary for the effective operation. For reinforcement of access control management, security gate and preparing of some obstacles are required with RFID.
