Purpose: In Cambodia, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) account for 64% of all deaths. A lack of risk perception of NCDs leads to poor measures of their prevention and management. This study aimed to investigate Cambodians' risk perceptions of NCDs based on the health belief model. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used, and using convenience sampling, participants included 200 Cambodians aged 40 years or older. A face-to-face administered structured questionnaire was used to assess demographic characteristics, health behaviors, and risk perceptions of NCDs. Results: Of the constructs of NCD risk perception, perceived severity (88.2%) and benefits (86.3%) were high, but relative to these, perceived cues to action (64.1%), barriers (63.5%), and self-efficacy (58.1%) were low. Conclusion: It is important to improve perceived self-efficacy in government health promotion, outreach, and improvement programs and to reduce perceived barriers through medical tests either by facility-based delivery or via outreach health services in Cambodia.
Purpose: This study investigated the moderating role of general self-efficacy (GSE) on how stress caused by pregnancy and daily hassle affect the risk of preterm birth (PTB) in women experiencing preterm labor. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 196 pregnant women experiencing preterm labor before 37 weeks of gestation. We used IBM SPSS Statistics 27 and employed Hayes process macro version 4 (model 1) and hierarchical regression to analyze the moderating effect of GSE on the relationship between pregnancy stress, daily hassle stress, and PTB risk. Results: Stress caused by pregnancy and daily hassle was positively correlated to PTB risk (r = .54, p < .001; r = .25, p < .001, respectively). While GSE did not significantly correlate with pregnancy stress, it negatively correlated with daily hassle stress (r = - .19, p = .009). GSE significantly moderated the relationship between combined stressors and PTB risk. As GSE levels increased, escalation in PTB risk in response to increasing stress levels was a more pronounced, highlighting a complex interaction between higher GSE levels and response to escalating stress levels. This model accounted for 39.5% of the variance in the PTB risk. Conclusion: Higher GSE may amplify the impact of stress on PTB risk, rather than mitigate it, which suggests a more nuanced role of GSE in the stress response of pregnant women at risk of preterm labor. GSE should be considered in care strategies, and managing its impact on stress perception and responses in pregnant women is crucial.
The purpose of this study is to obtain the accurate prediction for the atomization and vaporization processes of GDI spray. Atomization process is modeled using hybrid model that is composed of Linearized Instability Sheet Atomization (LISA) model and Aerodynamically Progressed TAB (APTAB) model. Vaporization process is modeled using Spalding model and Abramzon & Sirignano model. To obtain the experimental results for comparing with calculated results, the cross-sectional images of liquid and vapor phases and SMD distribution were acquired by exciplex fluorescence method and Phase Doppler Analyzer respectively. The experiment and computation was performed at the ambient pressure of 0.1 MPa, 0.5 MPa, 1.0 MPa and the ambient temperature of 293K, 473K. The calculated results by modified KIVA-II code show good agreement with experimental results.
This paper examines the time-series relations among expected return, risk, and book-to-market(B/M) at the portfolio level. The time-series analysis is a natural alternative to cross-sectional regressions. An alternative feature of the time-series regressions is that they focus on changes in expected returns, not on average returns. Using the time-series analysis, we can directly test whether the three-factor model explains time-varying expected returns better than the characteristic-based model. These results should help distinguish between the risk and mispricing stories. We find that B/M is strongly associated with changes in risk, as measured by the Fama and French(1993) three-factor model. After controlling for changes in risk, B/M contains little additional information about expected returns. The evidence suggests that the three-factor model explains time-varying expected returns better than the characteristic-based model.
An analysis of the railroad industry for R&D investments has been insufficient whereas there are lots of analysis of accumulation of technology, economic performances and ripple effects for macroscopic view and other industry of R&D investments. This study decided intellectual rights, patent, and paper as common indicators of scientific and technological performances for setting up performance targets through surveying and analysis of preceding study and verified a appropriateness of scientific and technological performances for railroad R&D 11 projects which were successfully finished. Preceding study has been set up performance targets by research investments as input, but this study made a performance target by model through a cross-sectional and residual analysis of performances of railroad R&D 11 Projects in applying research investments, capital investments, inner labor cost and inner labor cost per man and research time as inputs, and verified a validity and a empirical analysis through analysis of other project.
In order to investigate the impulsive noise at the exit of high-speed railway tunnel and the pressure transients inside the tunnel, numerical calculations using a Total Variation Dimishing difference scheme were applied to axisymmetric unsteady compressible flow field. Some compression wave forms were assumed to model the compression wave produced in real high-speed railway tunnel. The numerical data were extensively explored to analyze the peak over-pressure and maximum pressure gradient in the pressure wavefront. The effect of the distance and cross-sectional area ratio between two-continuous ducts on the characteristics of the pressure waves were investigated. The peak over-pressure inside the second duct decreases for the distance and cross-sectional area ratio between two tunnels to increase. The peak over-pressure and maximum pressure gradient of the pressure wavefront inside the second duct increase as the maximum pressure gradient of initial compression wave increases. The present results were qualitatively well agreed with the results of the previous shock tube experiment.
The fluvial phenomena in the bended natural river course are studied experimentally. Some theoretical and empirical conclusions were derived in prior to this study by some authors but the limitation of applicability of those results are not clearly known because of the sensitibitys of the flow regime in the reach. The main objective of this study is directed to evaluate the mechanism of sedimentation and the cross sectional changes in the equilibrium status. the most governing factor influenced to the cross sectional changes in the bended reach is the occurance of spiral flow. In this study, the streamlines and velocity distributions are checked at given interval by the hydraulic model to find out the place where spiral flow are existing under the various flow magnitudes.
The double composite box girder is a structural system filled with concrete at the bottom of the steel box in the negative moment region increasing the flexural strengths. Flexural strengths of the double composite steel box girders are investigated through a series of the experimental tests and the numerical analysis. The experimental tests are performed on the three kinds of steel box girders with the different concrete depths including loom, 15cm, and 20cm. Moment-curvature relations are calculated based on the sectional analysis method describing the nonlinear natures of concrete and steel. In the finite element analysis the nonlinear nature of concrete is described based on the three dimensional four-parameter constitutive model recently developed and that of steel is described based on von Mises failure criterion. The ultimate flexural capacities of the box girders predicted using sectional analysis and finite element analysis show good agreement with those of the experiments.
Modern helicopter rotor blades with non-homogeneous cross sections, composed of anisotropic material, require highly sophisticated structural analysis because of various cross sectional geometry and material properties. They may be subjected by the combined axial, bending, and torsional loading, and the dynamic and static behaviors of rotor blades are seriously influenced by the structural coupling under rotating condition. To simplify the analysis procedure using one dimensional beam model, it is necessary to determine the principal coordinate of the rotor blade. In this study, a method for the determination of the principal coordinate including elastic and shear centers is presented, based upon continuum mechanics. The scheme is verified by comparing the results with confirmed experimental results.
