In this paper, we investigate a power control problem which is very critical in underlay-based spectrum sharing systems. Although an underlay-based spectrum sharing system is more efficient compared to an overlay-based spectrum sharing system in terms of spectral utilization, some practical problems obstruct its commercialization. One of them is a real-time-based power adaptation of secondary transmitters. In the underlay-based spectrum sharing system, it is essential to adapt secondary user's transmit power to interference channel states to secure primary users' communication. Thus, we propose a practical power control scheme for secondary transmitters. The feedback overhead of our proposed scheme is insignificant because it requires one-bit signaling, while the optimal power control scheme requires the perfect information of channel states. In addition, the proposed scheme is robust to feedback delay. We compare the performance of the optimal and proposed schemes in terms of primary user's outage probability and secondary user's throughput. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme is almost optimal in terms of both primary user's outage probability and secondary user's throughput when the secondary user's transmit power is low. As the secondary user's transmit power increases, the primary user's outage probability of the proposed scheme is degraded compared with the optimal scheme while the secondary user's throughput still approaches that of the optimal scheme. If the feedback delay is considered, however, the proposed scheme approaches the optimal scheme in terms of both the primary user's outage probability and secondary user's throughput regardless of the secondary user's transmit power.

Performance of Secondary Injection Thrust Vector Control system is investigated under various secondary injection operating conditions. 3-dimensional converging-diverging nozzle having 8 secondary injection nozzles is used in this numerical study. Total pressure of flow inside the nozzle is about 70bars, and total temperature set to 300K for cold flow simulation. Effect of secondary injection flow rate and injection nozzle configuration is considered in this research. Simulation is conducted with commercial CFD code Ansys Fluent v13. Spalart-Allmaras(1-equation)model is used for turbulence modeling with AUSM+ scheme. Various performance factors as Axial thrust, side force, system specific impulse ratio are considered and explained for system performance evaluation.

We consider a supply chain where products are shipped to warehouse from manufacturing system to customers. Products are supplied from either in-house regular manufacturing or the secondary source such as subcontractor. The inventory in warehouse is controlled by base-stock policy, that is, whenever a demand arrives from customer, an order is released to the manufacturing system. Unsatisfied demand is backlogged. The manufacturing system is modeled as M/M/s+1/c queueing system, and the orders exceeding the given limit care blocked and lost. The steady state distribution of the outstanding orders and the throughput of the manufacturing system are functions of the level of engagement In the secondary source. There is a profit obtained from throughput and cost not only due to the engagement of the secondary source in the manufacturing system but also inventory positions. We want to maximize the total production profit minus the total cost of the production system by simultaneously determining the optimal level of engagement of the secondary source and the optimal base-stock level of the inventory. We develop two algorithms : one without guarantee of the optimal solution but with the small number of computations, the other optimal but with more computations.

From the geometric parameter study, an optimal ejector design procedure of pressure recovery system for chemical lasers was acquired. For given primary flow reservoir conditions, an up-scaled ejector was designed and manufactured. In the performance test, secondary mass flow rate of 100g/s air was entrained satisfying the design secondary pressure, $40{\sim}50torr$. Performance validation of a supersonic ejector system along with an investigation of effects of supersonic diffuser was conducted. Placement of the diffuser at the secondary inlet further reduced diffuser upstream pressure to 7torr. Lastly, the duplicate of apparatus (air 500g/s secondary mass flow rate each) was built and connected in parallel to assess proportionality behavior on a system to handle larger mass flow rate. Test and comparison of the parallel unit demonstrated the secondary mass flow rate was proportional to the number of individual units that were brought together maintaining the lasing pressure.
In this paper, the performance characteristics of R404 indirect refrigeration system using R744 as a secondary refrigerant were investigated experimentally to obtain a optimum design data for this system. First, for the constant experimental conditions, the COP of R404A indirect refrigeration system using R744 as secondary refrigerants decreases with respect to the increases in R404A condensation temperature and temperature difference in R744 cooler. And, the COP of indirect refrigeration system using R744 as secondary refrigerants decreases slightly with decreasing the mass flowrate of R744.

In the present paper an attempt has been made to simulate the secondary injection-primary flow interaction in the conical rocket nozzle and to derive the performance of secondary injection thrust vector control(SITVC) system. Complex three-dimensional flowfield induced by the secondary injection is numerically analyzed by solving unsteady three-dimensional Euler equation with Beam and Warming's implicit approximate factorization method. Emphasized in the present study is the effect of secondary injection such as secondary mass flow rates and the momentum of secondary/primary nozzle flow mass rates upon the gross system performance parameters such as thrust ratio, specific impulse ratio and deflection angle. The results obtained in terms of system performance parameters show that lower secondary mass flow rate is advantageous for to reduce secondary specific impulse loss. It is further found that the nozzle with secondary jet injected downstream and interacting with fast primary flow is preferable for efficient and stable SITVC over the wide range of use with the penalty of side specific impulse loss.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate smart secondary controls using iPad for the drivers with physical disabilities in the driving simulator. Background: The physically disabled drivers face problems in the operation of secondary control devices that accept a control input from a driver for the purpose of operating the subsystems of a motor vehicle. Many of conventional secondary controls consist of small knobs or switches that physically disabled drivers have difficulties in grasping, pulling or twisting. Therefore, their use while driving might increase distraction and workload because of longer operation time. Method: We examined the operation time of conventional and smart secondary controls, such as hazard warning, turn signal, window, windshield wiper, headlights, automatic transmission and horn. The hardware of smart secondary control system was composed of iPad, wireless router, digital input/output module and relay switch. We used the STISim Drive3 software for driving test, customized Labview and Xcode programs for interface control of smart secondary system. Nine subjects were involved in the study for measuring operation time of secondary controls. Results: When the driver was in the stationary condition, the average operation time of smart secondary devices decreased 32.5% in the normal subjects (p <0.01), 47.4% in the subjects with left hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) and 38.8% in the subjects with right hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) compared with conventional secondary devices. When the driver was driving for the test in the simulator, the average operation time of smart secondary devices decreased 36.1% in the normal subjects (p <0.01), 41.7% in the subjects with left hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) and 34.1% in the subjects with right hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) compared with conventional secondary devices. Conclusion: The smart secondary devices using iPad for people with hemiplegic disabilities showed significant reduction of operation time compared with conventional secondary controls. Application: This study can be used to design secondary controls for adaptive vehicles and to improve the quality of life of the people with disabilities.
Pipes and components of the secondary system in the pressurized water reactor (PWR) are mainly comprised of manufactured carbon steel. Thus, the generated carbon steel corrosion products are transported into the steam generator and deposited, thereby deteriorating the integrity of the steam generator. Environmental condition in the secondary system of the PWRs differs across different locations. So, the corrosion rate and types of corrosion products depend on specific locations in the secondary system. In this study, the quantity and chemical compositions of corrosion products generated in various locations that vary in different temperatures and chemistry conditions were investigated. As a result of evaluating the PWR "Unit A" that is in current operation, the amount of corrosion products generated in the section of high temperature feedwater system was identified as the largest source in the secondary system. Major components of corrosion products were iron oxides such as magnetite, hematite, and lepidocrocite.

This paper describes the result of structure analysis of secondary bogie frame. The purpose of the analysis is to evaluate an safety which secondary bogie frame shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to satisfy proper system function under maximum load. Secondary bogie system consist of bogie frame, suspensions, wheel-sets, and brake system. Among these component, the bogie frame is most significant component subjected to the vehicle and passenger loads. The evaluation method is used the JIS E 4207 specification throughout the FEM analysis. The analysis results have been very safety and stable for design load conditions.
Wide FOV imaging systems are important for acquiring rich visual information. A conventional catadioptric imaging system deploys a camera in front of a curved mirror to acquire a wide FOV image. This is a cumbersome setup and causes unnecessary occlusions in the acquired image. In order to reduce both the burden of the camera deployment and the occlusions in the images, this study uses a secondary planar mirror in the catadioptric imaging system. A compact design of the catadioptric imaging system and a condition for the position of the secondary planar mirror to satisfy the central imaging are presented. The image acquisition model of the catadioptric imaging system with a secondary planar mirror is discussed based on the principles of geometric optics in this study. As a backward mapping, the acquired image is restored to a distortion-free image in the experiments.
