배관 해석 프로그램을 통한 해수담수화 플랜트 수압 시스템 분석 (Analysis of hydraulic system for seawater desalination plant through piping analysis program)

  • In actual seawater desalination plant, the pressure loss due to frictional force of pipe is about 3~5 bar. Also, the pressure loss at pipe connection about 1~3 bar. Therefore, the total pressure loss in the pipe is expected to be about 4~8 bar, which translates into 0.111 to 0.222 kWh/㎥ of energy when converted into the Specific Energy Consumption(SEC). Reducing energy consumption is the most important factor in ensuring the economics of seawater desalination processes, but pressure loss in piping is often not considered in plant design. It is difficult to prevent pressure loss due to friction inside the pipe, but pressure loss at the pipe connection can be reduced by proper pipe design. In this study, seawater desalination plant piping analysis was performed using a commercial network program. The pressure loss and SEC for each case were calculated and compared by seawater desalination plant size.

Corrosion Behavior of Carbon Steel in Diluted Sulfuric Acid based on Seawater

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will administer a new 0.5% global sulfur cap on fuel content from 1 January 2020, lowering from the present 3.5% limit. Seawater $SO_x$ (sulfur oxide) scrubbing is especially spray scrubbing and a promising alternative to complying with the IMO regulation. However, the ionization of $SO_2$ (sulfur dioxide) and the $H_2SO_4$ (sulfuric acid) formed from $SO_3$ (sulfur trioxide) is proposed to accelerate corrosion of the internal seawater pipe. Apparently, the corrosion of the scrubber seawater piping system occurs in a severe and frequent manner. Hence, in this study, electrochemical measurement and weight loss of carbon steel (used as seawater pipe in most of the ships) in diluted sulfuric acid solution were investigated to determine corrosion rate, corrosion current density, corrosion potential, electrochemical behavior, and impressed-current density. Accordingly, the corrosion rate of carbon steel sheet in various diluted sulfuric acid solutions was observed to be greater than that in natural seawater, thus suggesting the fundamental data to deal with corrosion problems in scrubber seawater pipe.

해수취수시스템에 적용된 2중구조 유공관의 형태에 따른 취수효율에 대한 연구 (A Study on Inflow Rate According to Shape of Dual Structure Perforated Pipe Applied to Seawater Intake System)

  • 지구상에 존재하는 물의 97%는 해수로 존재한다. 따라서 해양자원을 어떻게 활용하는 가는 최근 가장 중요한 이슈 중 하나이다. 해수의 이용은 해수담수화, 원자력 발전소의 냉각수, 해양심층수 활용 등 다양한 분야로 확대되고 있다. 깨끗한 해수를 취수하기 위해 여과사를 이용한 해수취수시스템이 활발하게 사용되고 있으며 이러한 시스템에 적용되는 취수관의 경우 각 취수구 별로 균등하게 취수될 때 취수효율뿐만 아니라 여과의 효율도 높일 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 해수취수시설에 적용된 2중관 구조의 취수효율 향상 효과를 3차원 수치모의를 통해 확인하였으며 상부유공의 간격변화에 따른 구간별 취수량을 분석하였다. 그 결과 관 말단부로 갈수록 상부유공의 간격이 감소되는 경우가 전체적인 취수량은 큰 차이가 없었으나 상부유공을 통한 취수량의 구간별 표준편차가 최소로 나타났다. 또한 이 경우에 관내 흐름이 안정적이어서 취수의 효율도 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 추후 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 다양한 조건 및 영향인자에 대한 민감도 분석이 수행된다면 개별 환경에 적합한 최적설계안을 도출하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이라고 생각한다.

Growth and mortality of the juvenile common octopus (Octopus vulgaris) in pipe- and tire-type shelters placed in flow-through seawater tanks

  • The common octopus, which has a high growth rate and high market price, is a prime candidate for commercial marine aquaculture operations. We evaluated the effectiveness of two types of shelters (pipe and tire types) for juvenile common octopus growing out in flow-through seawater tanks. Growth rates were evaluated in two experiments. The first experiment (Experiment 1) ran for 72 days, and the second (Experiment 2; replicated) ran for 46 days. Each trial included 40 octopuses fed a diet of frozen sardine (Sardinops melanostictus) and swimming crab (Portunustri tuberculatus) at 3-8% of body weight once every 3 days. In the two experiments, the respective specific growth rates were 0.3 and 0.04%/day in pipe-type shelters and 0.00 and 0.88%/day in tire-type shelters, while the respective percentage survivals were 80 and 80% in pipe-type shelters and 70 and 90% in tire-type shelters. Shelter type had little influence on the growth rate (P < 0.05).

실해역 환경에서 생물부착에 관한 기초실험 연구 (Preliminary Experimental Study on Biofouling in Real Sea Environment)

  • A flow and low temperature of deep seawater the biofouling properties in a seawater environment of different materials, such as a steel pipe, polyethylene pipe, and nylon net, used for ocean industries. Experiments in a real sea environment were performed to grasp the quantitative and qualitative biofouling from diatoms attached to materials by measuring the Chlorophyll-a density. Experimental samples were placed under five types of ocean environmental conditions and analyzed every month for five months. It is shown that the biofouling by diatoms was strongly affected by the seawater temperature for all of the experimental samples. It was found that diatoms mainly adhered to the nylon net, while crustaceans prefer polyethylene, under a high temperature condition. It is believed that the biofouling properties are strongly related to the surface roughness of a material. The biofouling under the low temperature condition of deep seawater was rare and stable for the experimental periods. The inside of a pipe conveying deep seawater can be presumed to remain clear without biofouling on the condition of a flow and low temperature of deep seawater.

Design of Air-Lifted Seawater Propulsion System (ALSP) for Ecoships' Auxiliary Propulsion 1

  • We constructed an air-lifted seawater propulsion system for decreasing fuel consumption of the ships. The system has a form of pipes which can be easily installed on the sides of the ship. Seawater mixed with air, will rise along within the pipe, and will be discharged downward. If the directions of inlet / outlet of the pipe are designed properly, a propulsive energy can be obtained. We tested the system with a model ship in Jangsa port at Sokcho-city with a water depth of 2.5 meters. The system was supplied regulated air at 6 bars during the 3 tests. The model ship was moving forward at a rate of 0.18 meters per second. In case of large ships equipped zfrom clean energy.

해수분위기에서 스테인리스강 배관 소켓 용접부의 선택적 부식 (Selective Corrosion of Socket Welds of Stainless Steel Pipes Under Seawater Atmosphere)

  • Stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance. The drawback is that pitting occurs easily due to the concentration of chloride. In addition, corrosion of socket weld, which is structurally and chemically weaker than the other components of the pipe, occurs rapidly. Since these two phenomena overlap, pinhole leakage occurs frequently in the seawater pipe socket welds made of stainless steel at the power plants. To analyze this specific corrosion, a metallurgical analysis of the stainless steel socket welds, where the actual corrosion occurred during the power plant operation, was performed. The micro-structure and chemical composition of each socket weld were analyzed. In addition, selective corrosion of the specific micro-structure in a mixed dendrite structure comprising γ-austenite (gamma-phase iron) and δ-ferrite (iron at high temperature) was investigated based on the characteristic micro-morphology and chemical composition of the corroded area. Finally, the different corrosion stages and characteristics of socket weld corrosion are summarized.

건물의 냉방을 위한 해수열 취득에 관한 실험적 연구 (A new method to convert into seawater heat for the indoor air-conditioning resource)

  • The industrial growth and the raised living quality have led to the massive energy consumption. As a result. the polluted environment and the limited amount of energy resources emerged as serious problems to be resolved in 21st century. Especially, in the case of Korea whose imported energy dependency rate is 98.2$\%$ in 2003 and constantly increasing every rear. more than 24$\%$ of overall energy consumption is for housing and commercial use. In order to cope with the shortage of natural energy resources, it is inevitable to develop alternative sustainable energy resources including seawater heat. so that they can replace existing resources. The heat transfer air velocity 3.5 m/s is proper to consideration with the body the pipe size 200A is more suitable than look due to the air velocity quantify and the ratio of pipe surface area. And the error between experimental data with simulation is below 5.34$\%$ so the suggested equation for calculating heat transfer capacity can be used. Therefore out of many methods utilizing seawater heat. this work Presents the efficiency of using sea water heat as a resource for air-conditioners which can be converted from the outside air through the air-to-heat conversion tube . Consequently. this method provides pretty reasonable energy efficiency.

선박의 해수 이송 배관용 고무 마운트의 진동 전달률에 대한 파라미터 연구 (Parametric Study of the Vibration Transmissibility for the Rubber Mount of the Seawater-Conveying Pipe in a Ship)

  • Pipe system widely used in a ship is usually attached to the hull of a ship, and its vibration lead to structure-borne noise. Rubber mount is usually used as a vibration isolator of a pipe in a ship. In this paper, the effects of several factors, besides the stiffness and damping of the rubber mount, on vibration-isolating performance are taken into consideration. The parameters considered in this paper are hardness of the rubber material, painting on the rubber and deformation from clamping. Through the results of parametric study, the effective specifications of rubber mount are suggested to improve vibration-isolating performance. The performance under fluid flowing condition is calculated numerically and verified experimentally.

RNG k-𝜖 알고리즘을 이용한 해수취수시스템 분석 (Analysis of Seawater Intake System using the RNG k-𝜖 Algorithm)

  • 기존 해수취수시스템의 경우 해수오염, 부유물질, 취수의 불안정 및 유지관리의 어려움 등으로 인해 해수취수의 어려움이 발생하곤 하였다. 이와 같은 단점을 극복하고자 매설식 해수취수시스템을 개발하여 격포항에 설치하였다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 시스템의 거동을 검토하고자, 수질관측 및 3차원 수치모의 실험을 수행하였다. 이 취수시스템에 대하여 총 5회에 걸쳐 COD, 총질소, 총인, PH 그리고 부유물질에 대하여 수질분석을 수행한 결과, COD, 총질소, 총인, PH의 경우 취수 전 후 저감 효과는 미미하였다. 그러나 부유물질의 경우 수산용수 1급 5 mg/L 이하로 정화되는 효과가 나타났다. 수치모형은 유한체적법 기반의 CFX 모형과 RNG $k-{\epsilon}$ 알고리즘을 선정하였으며, 여과사, 외부관 지름 및 두께를 재현하기 위해서 다공성 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 수치모의 실험을 수행한 결과, 2중관 구조가 내외부관 사이의 공간에 의해 압력의 분포를 균등하게 하여, 흐름 상태나 안정적인 취수측면에서 유리한 것으로 분석되었으며, 취수관을 다열 배치하였을 때 중앙 취수관과 비교하여 양쪽 취수관에서 유량이 0.98배로 감소하였지만 유동의 간섭현상은 발생하지 않았다.
