Background: The aim of this study was to identify the bibliographic characteristics and research trends of the literature published on the profession of dental hygiene to provide basic data for research, education, and intervention program development for the establishment of healthy professionalism among dental hygienists and dental hygienist students. Methods: A literature search was conducted through four databases. They were looked up using the terms "dental hygiene" and "professional." Finally, 46 research papers that meet the selection criteria were selected for analysis. Results: From 2004 to 2022, 46 articles were published. Except for key words related to subjects and tools, key words ranked at the top were job satisfaction, self-esteem, self-leadership, and stress. Five tools of professionalism-professional self-concept, professional intuition, professional identity, and a professional values scale -were used in the study. Conclusion: Considering the social perception of dental hygienists as professionals and the reality of dental hygiene that is carrying out the process of professionalization, efforts are needed to identify and promote beliefs and attitudes toward professionals such as professionalism and professional identity.

Objectives : This study was conducted to analyze the trends of international clinical research on acupuncture treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. Methods : A total of 14 clinical researches were selected by using PubMed, an international online database, to search for clinical researches written in English and Chinese. Selected papers were analyzed according to study characteristics, study subjects, acupuncture treatment methods, treatment results, evaluation index, safety, and adverse event reports. Results : Acupuncture was mostly used in combination with other treatment methods. The most commonly used acupuncture point was the 'Xiaguan(ST7)', and 11 acupuncture points belonging to the 'Stomach meridian' were used. In most researches, selection of local points and distant points were taken simultaneously, with some researches taking acupuncture points according to trigeminal nerve branch. There were significant improvements in most outcome measures after treatment compared to pre-treatment, and most adverse events disappeared without treatment or decreased or disappeared after grand therapy. Conclusion : According to this study, acupuncture treatment for trigeminal neuralgia was performed in various ways and was found to be effective and safe. However, it is necessary to confirm more meaningful results by supplementing the limitations of existing researches in the future.

HMMs (Hidden Markov Models) are widely used for biological signal, such as EEG (electroencephalogram) sequence, analysis because of their ability to incorporate sequential information in their structure. A recent trends of research are going after the biological interpretable HMMs, and we need to control the complexity of the HMM so that it has good generalization performance. So, an automatic means of optimizing the structure of HMMs would be highly desirable. In this paper, we described a procedure of classification of motor imagery EEG signals using HMM. The motor imagery related EEG signals recorded from subjects performing left, right hand and foots motor imagery. And the proposed a method that was focus on the validation of the HSA (Harmony Search Algorithm) based optimization for HMM. Harmony search algorithm is sufficiently adaptable to allow incorporation of other techniques. A HMM training strategy using HSA is proposed, and it is tested on finding optimized structure for the pattern recognition of EEG sequence. The proposed HSA-HMM can performs global searching without initial parameter setting, local optima, and solution divergence.

Objectives The incidence of degenerative diseases is increasing as society ages, and this increased the economic burden on society. Oxidative stress was also under suspicion as one of the causes. Recent studies have found that Curcuma longa Rhizoma had antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, and anticancer effects. Through this study, we figure out trends in Curcuma longa Rhizoma research and evaluate the therapeutic potential of Curcuma longa Rhizoma for dementia. Methods The search was made using domestic and international internet search sites. "Naver academic," "Google scholar," "Korea institute of oriental medicine (KIOM OASIS)," "Korean traditional knowledge portal (KTKP)," "Library of Congress," "Research information sharing service (RISS)," "National Digital Science Links (NDSL)," and "Pub med" are used to search. The searched for words were "turmeric," "Curcuma longa Rhizoma," "antioxidant," and "nerve regeneration." Results It could be seen that a lot of research done on Curcuma longa recently. In previous studies, the most common research disease was cancer. In previous studies, the most common effects of Curcuma longa was antioxidant and anticancer. Curcumin, Vitamin B1, and various essential oils were the functional components of Curcuma longa Rhizoma. Curcuma longa Rhizoma performs DPPH radical scavenging activity and ABTS radical cation decolorization activity; it inhibits NO and iNOS. Conclusion The destruction of nerve cells due to oxidative stress is a cause of dementia. Curcuma longa Rhizoma have antioxidant effects. Therefore, we believed that it is an effective treatment for dementia. Various studies will be made on Curcuma longa Rhizoma.

본 연구에서는 인문사회기반 융합연구의 관점에서 미래유망기술을 분석하여 메가트렌드, 트렌드, 이슈로 정리하여 미래 환경에 대한 예측과 인간의 삶과 밀접하게 관련이 있을 것으로 예상되는 기술에 대한 탐색을 수행하고 궁극적으로 이를 통해 다양한 사회문제를 해결할 수 있는 융합연구 의제를 예측하고자 하였다. 우선 다양한 미래 유망기술에 대해 언급한 문헌을 조사하고 이를 분석하여 핵심 키워드를 분석하였고 가장 빈번하게 사용되는 핵심키워드를 정리하여 트렌드를 유추하였다. 이어서 유추된 트렌드를 계층화하여 정리하고 핵심트렌드와 파생트렌드로 분류하여 이를 바탕으로 융합연구 의제(어젠다)를 도출하였다. 이렇게 도출된 해당 의제의 필요성, 혁신성, 융합성, 실현가능성, 미래지향성, 수용가능성을 설문조사를 통하여 조사하였다. 분석결과 융합연구를 수행하는 연구자들은 가까운 미래에 실현가능한 기술로 일상생활과 밀접한 사회문제를 다루는 의제들에 높은 관심을 보이는 것으로 나타났고 반면 먼 미래에 실현가능한 기술이나 테러 혹은 국제적 분쟁과 같은 의제에 대해서는 다소 낮은 관심을 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

Objectives : Lateral epicondylitis on elbow is one of the most common causes of elbow pain. Lateral epicondylitis can be managed with acupuncture, but the evidence for its effectiveness is uncertain. The purpose of this review is to investigate the trends of acupuncture treatments on lateral epicondylitis. Methods : We investigated the studies about acupuncture treatments for lateral epicondylitis via searching 5 Korean web databases(KTKP, RISS, OASIS, KCI, Kisti) The key search terms were 'Lateral epicondylitis', 'Tennis elbow', 'External epicondylitis'. 12 research papers(10 case reports, 1 RCT, 1NRCT) were found to be analyzed according to their published year, the titles of journals, published institution, the types of study, the number of cases, the types of treatments, the instruments for assessment and ethical approvals. The effectiveness of acupuncture treatment was classified. Results : 12 papers were published since 2003. The studies on acupuncture treatments about lateral epicondylitis were mainly published in The journal of pharmacopuncture. 10 case reports, 1 non-randomized controlled trials, 1 randomized controlled trials had been under research. In most of the research, the number of the cases were not enough. In 9 cases of the studies, various korean medicine treatments including acupuncture were used to treat the symptoms. In 3 cases of the studies single method was used to treat the symptoms. Visual analogue scale(VAS) and range of motion(ROM), grip strength were used as primary assessments. Among 12 clinical studies, 1 of them were accepted by institutional review board(IRB). Conclusions : In this study, we analyzed the trends of acupuncture treatments on lateral epicondylitis. Reviewing the domestic trends of studies on acupuncture treatments for lateral epicondylitis and examining the strong and weak points of those treatments are essential for the future studies.

With increasing design complexity, shrinking time-to-market window, and various demands from markets, the traditional design methodologies reach-ed a ceiling. In a search for a way to tackle these problems, novel concepts and methodologies have been proposed in the past years. The paper briefly presents the design issues, and concepts, introduces commercial tools, and finally proposes a conceptual methodology that addresses the issues.

In this study, the patent trends for noise barrier and noise reducing device have been analyzed, for the development of adaptive noise barrier according to the transmission characteristics of railway noise. Using patent search engine, keyword searching for patents after 1980 in Korea was performed. The first 667 patents details were reviewed for the extraction core(ie, key) patents. From this review, finally 70 patents were built as DB. From this analysis of core patents, system requirements for development of noise reducing device were obtained.
