Efficient Data Clustering using Fast Choice for Number of Clusters (빠른 클러스터 개수 선정을 통한 효율적인 데이터 클러스터링 방법)

  • K-means algorithm is one of the most popular and widely used clustering method because it is easy to implement and very efficient. However, this method has the limitation to be used with fixed number of clusters because of only considering the intra-cluster distance to evaluate the data clustering solutions. Silhouette is useful and stable valid index to decide the data clustering solution with number of clusters to consider the intra and inter cluster distance for unsupervised data. However, this valid index has high computational burden because of considering quality measure for each data object. The objective of this paper is to propose the fast and simple speed-up method to overcome this limitation to use silhouette for the effective large-scale data clustering. In the first step, the proposed method calculates and saves the distance for each data once. In the second step, this distance matrix is used to calculate the relative distance rate ($V_j$) of each data j and this rate is used to choose the suitable number of clusters without much computation time. In the third step, the proposed efficient heuristic algorithm (Group search optimization, GSO, in this paper) can search the global optimum with saving computational capacity with good initial solutions using $V_j$ probabilistically for the data clustering. The performance of our proposed method is validated to save significantly computation time against the original silhouette only using Ruspini, Iris, Wine and Breast cancer in UCI machine learning repository datasets by experiment and analysis. Especially, the performance of our proposed method is much better than previous method for the larger size of data.

A Hybrid Multimedia Contents Recommendation Procedure for a New Item Problem in M-commerce (하이브리드 기법을 이용한 신상품 추천문제 해결방안에 관한 연구 : 모바일 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 중심으로)

  • Currently the mobile web service is growing with a tremendous speed and mobile contents are spreading extensively. However, it is hard to search what the user wants because of some limitations of cellular phones. And the music is the most popular content, but many users experience frustrations to search their desired music. To solve these problems, this research proposes a hybrid recommendation system, MOBICORS-music (MOBIle COntents Recommender System for Music). Basically it follows the procedure of Collaborative Filtering (CF) system, but it uses Contents-Based (CB) data representation for neighborhood formation and recommendation of new music. Based on this data representation, MOBICORS-music solves the new item ramp-up problem and results better performance than existing CF systems. The procedure of MOBICORS-music is explained step by step with an illustrative example.

  • O2O(Online-to-offline) service is the new commerce system form that mixed information search and payment of products and services from online and receipt of goods from offline. O2O commerce combine advantage of existing electronic commerce and redeem the critical point of each commerce circulation method, but earnings model is still lacking compared to development speed of O2O technology. Therefore this study drew common factor applied to O2O service to search success factor of O2O commerce on the point of view as a customer Centered by existing B2C electronic commerce, Mobile commerce, and service quality model of offline commerce included O2O commerce method. Further we suggest O2O success factor model combined new O2O success factor additionally reflecting qualitative research result based on drew O2O success service Quality factor.

  • In this paper, we propose a method about the extraction of vehicle and tracking trajectory for moving vehicle tracking system in road. This system applied to the monitoring system of the traffic flow for ATMS(advanced traffic management system) of ITS(intelligent transport system). Also, this system can solve the problem of maintenance of loop sensor. And we detected vehicle using differential image analysis. Because of the road environment changes by real time. Therefore, the method to use background image is not suitable. And we used Kalman filter and innovation value and variable search area for vehicle tracking system. Previous method using fixed search area is sensitive to the moving trajectory and the speed of vehicle. Simulation results show that proposed method increases the possibility of traffic measurement more than fixed area traffic measurement system.

K-Band Radar Development for the Ground Moving Vehicle (지상 이동 차량용 K-대역 레이다 개발)

  • This paper presents a K-band radar system installed on the ground moving vehicle to detect and track a high-speed target. The presented radar is separated into three search regions to satisfy a wide area detection and a limitation of the installing space of the radar, and each region performs detecting the target independently and tracking the detected target automatically. The presented radar radiating K-band FMCW waveform acquires range and velocity information of the target at the every dwell and receiving antenna of the radar is applied the multiple baseline interferometer to extract the precise angle information of the target. 3-dimensional tracking accuracy of the radar is 0.25 m RMSE measured actually through a fire experiment of an imitation target.

  • This paper describes the plan and procedure of a development test and evaluation that will be performed to verify the performance and technology of multi-mission unmanned surface vehicles (MMUSVs). In order to verify the design requirement of MMUSVs, we designed and manufactured the common platform of MMUSVs, which have an overall length of8.4 m, a displacement of 3,100 kg, and a speed of more than35 kts. The platform is equipped with several sub-systems, including radar and an EOTS/IRS. The EOTS/IRS, along with the search radar, is used for effective detection, identification, and targeting. The core technologies of MMUSV for DT&E will be investigated. The common platform design technologies, remote operating and control system technologies, autonomous navigation technologies, and unmanned operational technology of sensors and equipment will be studied for the development of the MMUSV's core technologies. The system will be able to make precise observations and track targets both manually and automatically during day and night conditions. Currently, the verification tests for each of the technologies and for the integrated system are in the pipeline for DT&E, which will be performed next year. Also, software reliability and life tests will be performed.

Analysis of GPS Signal Acquisition Performance

  • Acquisition is to detect the presence of the GPS signal. Once the signal is detected, the estimated frequency and code phase are passed to a tracking loop to demodulate the navigation data. In order to detect the weak signal, multiple length of data integration is always needed. In this paper, we present five different acquisition approaches based on circular correlation and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), using coherent as well as non-coherent integration techniques for the multiple length of collected GPS satellite signal. Moreover a general approach of determining the acquisition threshold is introduced based on noise distribution which has been proved effective, and independent of the hardware. In the end of this paper, the processing speed and acquisition gain of each method are illustrated, compared, and analyzed. The results show that coherent approach is much more time consuming compared to noncoherent approaches, and in the case of multiple length of data integration from 2ms to 8ms, the processing times consumed by the fastest non-coherent acquisition method are only 25.87% to 1.52% in a single search, and 34.76% to 1.06% in a global search of those in the coherent acquisition. However, coherent acquisition also demonstrates its better performance in the acquisition gain, and in the case of 8ms of data integration it is 4.23 to 4.41 dB higher than that in the non-coherent approaches. Finally, an applicable scheme of combining coherent and non-coherent acquisition approaches in the development of a real-time Software GPS receiver in the University of Tokyo is provided.

  • Recently, because of the mobile device generalization tendency, a lot of new mobile applications which need mobile database on mobile devices appear. SQLite, Realm, etc. are representative mobile databases, and they are the database engines which are suitable for small devices that have large resource restriction and are used a lot in mobile devices based on Linux. These engines are open source programs and have advantages which are lighter weight and faster speed than general purpose databases. This paper focuses on the performance experiments and analysis of SQLite, which is front runner in mobile database fields. Considering the target mobile environments, the test is performed at Linux environment. And this paper implements performance test program and performs performance experiment of SQLite database to test search efficiency. The experiment is processed by comparison with the results of a Oracle database working out at the same environment.

  • In this paper, we proposed a high performance lookup controller for IP packet forwarding engine of ATM based label edge routers. The lookup controller is designed to provide services such as MPLS, VPN, ELL, and RT services as well as the best effort. For high speed searching for IP addresses, we employed a TCAM based hardware search device not using traditional algorithmic approaches. We also implement lookup control functions into FPGA for fast processing of packet header and lookup control. The proposed lookup controller is designed to support differenciated services for users and to process in pipelined mechanism for performance improvement. A two-step search scheme is also applied to perform lookup for the key combined with multi-field of packet header. We found that the proposed lookup controller provides the performance of about 16M packets per second through simulations.

TCP Algorithm Improvement for Smartphone Data Transmissions (스마트폰 통신성향을 고려한 TCP 개선방안)

  • This paper suggests adjusting TCP for smartphones that often have small size data transmission tendency. Usage of smartphones has been risen dramatically in recent years, including frequent usage of real-time map search, public transportation search, online games, and SNS. Because the small size data transmission ends before the phase of the TCP congestion avoidance, this paper suggests an algorithm that increases the transmission speed ahead of the traffic congestion event. The algorithm reduces unnecessary delay by data size-driven adjustment of the Linux Quick ACK and Nagle's algorithm. Therefore, TCP is improved to maintain a high transmission rate steadily in small data transmission.
