The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of customized master cone on apical sealing in various apical size of prepared root canals, that is MAF(Master Apical File) and to know at which apical size the apical leakage is to be significantly reduced using customized master cone. 120 extracted single rooted premolars were divided into four groups according to their apical size(MAF), #30, 40, 50 and 60. And then, each group was subdivided into three in accordance with three obturation methods, lateral condensation with standardized master cone, lateral condensation with chloroform-dipped customized master cone, and continuous wave of obturation technique. Resorcinol-formaldehyde resin was used for the microleakage test of this study. Teeth were sectioned horizontally at 1.5mm(Level 1), 2.5mm(Level 2), and 3.5mm(Level 3) from the anatomical root apex using low speed microtome. All sections were examined under $\times$40 magnification with a stereomicroscope, photographed, and then scanned. With the scanned images, resin-infiltrated area presenting the microleakage was calculated using SigmaScan/Image, and the ratio of leakage to the total root canal area of each group was analyzed statistically(one way ANOVA). The results were as follows ; 1. In groups of MAF #30, there was no significant difference of mean leakage ratio among three obturation methods at all three levels. 2. In groups of MAF #40, the group using lateral condensation with customized master cone had the low-est mean leakage ratio at all three levels, but there was no significant difference among three obturation techniques. 3. In groups of MAF #50, the mean leakage ratio of the group using lateral condensation with standard master cone was the highest among those of three obturation techniques at level 1, and this difference was statistically significant(p<0.05). 4 In groups of MAF #60, the groups using lateral condensation with standard master cone had also the highest mean leakage ratio at all levels, but there was no significant difference at level 1 and 2. At level 3, the leakage of the group using lateral condensation with standard master cone was significantly higher than that of the group using continuous wave of obturation(p<0.05). The results of this study suggested that the obturation method using customized master cone or the continuous wave of obturation is more effective for apical sealing than that using standardized master cone when MAF is larger than #50.

Objectives: The adverse health effects attributed to exposure to radon have been well known over the world. However, the efforts for prevention and mitigation of radon have not been taken in Korea so far. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation methods applied for various types of houses and public buildings with high level of radon. Methods: Based on the results of "National Radon Survey" performed by the National Institute of Environmental Research(NIER) in 2010-2012, we selected 30 candidate buildings consisting of 20 houses and 10 public buildings with greater than $148Bq/m^3$ of radon level. We measured the concentration of radon in 30 buildings, using E-PERMs and RAD-7 during January to March of 2013. More than five E-PERMs and one RAD-7 per house were installed for seven days. Ten houses and five public buildings were finally chosen to be mitigated after mainly considering the level of radon and the location of buildings nationwide. Three mitigation methods such as Sealing, two types of Active Ventilation(window-shaped and wall-typed ventilations), and Active Soil Depressurization(ASD) were applied, and the concentrations of radon were measured before and after mitigation, respectively. To evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation methods, reduction rates of radon were calculated and Wilcoxon's signed-rank test was performed. Results: The mean concentration of 15 buildings just before radon mitigation was $297.8Bq/m^3$, and most of the buildings were located in Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, and Daegu areas(73.3%), and built in 1959-1998. The level of radon decreased from 48% to 90% and kept the below recommendation limit of $148Bq/m^3$ after installation of radon mitigation. Among mitigation methods applied, the reduction rate(58.7-90.4%) of radon attributed to ASD was the greatest than that of other methods, followed by Active Ventilation(48.4-78.4%) and Sealing(<22%). The effectiveness of radon reduction by window-shaped Active Ventilation(63.2-75.2%) was relatively better than that of wall-typed Active Ventilation(48.4-54.3%). Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that ASD could be more effective for radon mitigation. Moreover, our findings would be background information in future for making the strategy for radon mitigation nationwide, as well as for developing Korean-version of mitigation techniques according to types of dwellings in Korea.

Liquid silicone rubber(LSR) has been applied to various products such as electronic devices owing to its excellent thermal and chemical resistance. Hyperelastic materials, however, have properties distinguished from general metal materials. Hyperelastic materials show elastic behaviors in the range of large deformation in which load has the nonlinear relation with deformation. In addition, they have characteristics of nonlinearity, incompressibility, in large scale. On account of such characteristics, there are many difficulties in design and production using these materials. In this study, the load-deformation relation obtained from tension and compression tests was applied to finite element analysis in order to design waterproof connectors for automobiles. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the finite element analysis was confirmed by comparing the results of analysis with those of performance tests.

Recently, drywall's demand is increasing by interest about spread of remodeling house and separated wall structure. This research evaluated panel's SRI and found out panel properties using material of small size. Conclusion of this research is as following. First, we confirmed the effectiveness of small-scale material. Measuring results appeared equally about 400 ${\sim}$ 500 Hz that is fc frequency. Second,, it is no big difference in SRI that use CRC or magnesium board that is used for protection of panel surface. Third, it is compared SRI by used junction to make wall that become disjointing assembly. By the result, sealed wall secures resemblant SRI performance almost with normal wall. Therefore, using joint materials and sealing junction became wall that is detached with high SRI.

Hot hydrostatic extruder was developed. The main objective of the development is forming fine wire and tube. On account of effectiveness and high performance, the extruder was designed to have double action. Therefore the main cylinder and mandrel can be driven independently. To cope with severe condition of high temperature and pressure, wire-wound container equipped with heater was used. Sealing technique also is important in this process, so seal ring was made of super-elastic metal. Another key for successful forming is choice of proper pressure medium. Fine wire and tube produced by the extruder can be used in semiconductor industry and medicine.

In order to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental intervention of work place, metal mercury concentration in air and in urine of the total 43 workers for 3years from December 1991 to October 1993 in a fluorescent lamp manufacturing industry exposed to mercury, was measured before and after implementation of controls such as establishing exhaust ventilation at the department of exhaustion, coating the floor of work place with epostane, cleaning of the floor, improved housekeeping, and etc. The results were as follows. 1. Before the intervention(December 1991) 39.0% exceeded metal mercury Threshold Limit Value(TLV, $0.05mg/m^3$). After the intervention(October 1993) 10.0% exceeded TLV and geometric mean of mercury in air was $0.1mg/m^3$, and showed effectiveness rate of intervention to be 74.4% 2. After the intervention, geometric means of mercury concentrations in air were 0.013, $0.019mg/m^3$ and showed effectiveness rate of intervention to be 76.6%, 65.5% in A factory(right tube lamp)and at exhaustion department, respectively, A follow up survey fround statistically significant reductions in mercury concetration in air three years later. 3. Mercury concentration in urine of 11 workers(29.7%) exceeded warning level of $100{\mu}l/l$ before the intervention. After the intervention, of 3workers(8.8%) exceeded warning level and geometric mean of mercury concentration($26.5{\mu}l/l$) in urine was 2.4 times than that of before the intervention. Geometric means of mercury concentrations in urine of workers at exhaustion department, at sealing and aging department were 44.0, $77.7{\mu}l/l$, respectively and they decreased 2.3, 3.2 times than that of before the intervention.
This study investigated the clinical effectiveness and safety of sealed bleaching compared to conventional in-office bleaching using a randomized clinical trial of split arch design. Ten participants received a chairside bleaching treatment on the upper anterior teeth, and each side was randomly designated as sealed or control side. A mixture of Brite powder (PacDent, Walnut, USA), 3% hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide (KoolWhite, PacDent, Walnut, USA) were used as bleaching agent. The control side was unwrapped and the experimental side was covered with a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) wrap for sealed bleaching. The bleaching gel was light activated for 1 hour. The tooth shades were evaluated before treatment, after treatment, and at one week check up by means of a visual shade (VS) assessment using a value oriented shade guide and a computer assisted shade assessment using a spectrophotometer (SP). The data were analyzed by paired t-test. In the control and sealed groups, the visual shade scores after bleaching treatment and at check up showed statistically significant difference from the preoperative shade scores (p<.05). The shade scores of the sealed group were significantly lighter than the control immediately after bleaching and at the check-up appointment (p<0.05). Compared to prebleaching status, the ${\Delta}E$ values at post bleaching condition were $4.35{\pm}1.38\;and\;5.08{\pm}1.34$ for the control and sealed groups, respectively. The ${\Delta}E$ values at check up were $3.73{\pm}1.95\;and\;4.38{\pm}2.08$ for the control and sealed groups. ${\Delta}E$ values were greater for the sealed group both after bleaching (p<.05) and at check up (p<.05). In conclusion, both ${\Delta}E$ and shade score changes were greater for the sealed bleaching group than the conventional bleaching group, effectively demonstrating the improvement of effectiveness through sealing.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of sealer placement in simulated root canal extensions. Forty resin blocks were attained from the Endo-training Bloc. In each block. The simulated root canal was made with $\#20$, 80taper GT file. After each block was longitudinally split into two halves, a standardized groove was prepared on one canal wall of two halves to simulate the canal extensions with various irregularities. The two halves of each block were assembled and all simulated root canals were obturated by single cone method with AH26 sealer. Four different methods of sealer placement were used: group A, $\#20$ K-file; group B, ultrasonic file; group C, lentulo spiral; group D, EZ-Fill bi-directional spiral. All obturated blocks were stored in $100\%$ humidity at $37^{\circ}C$ for 1 week, Using a low speed saw, each block was sectioned horizontally. Images of the sections were taken using a stereomicroscope at $\times$ 30 magnification and a digital camera. The amount of the sealer in the groove was evaluated using a scoring system, a higher score indicated better sealing effectiveness. The data was statistically analysed by Fisher's Exact Test. The sealing score was the lowest, specially at the middle area of canal extensions in group A, and that was statistically significant difference from other groups. In conclusion, the ultrasonic file, lentulo spiral and EZ-Fill bi-directional spiral were effective methods of sealer placement in simulated canal extensions. The K file was the least effective method, specially at the middle area of canal extensions.
The stability of slurry trench system is closely associated with the characteristics of the filter cake (assumed impervious membrane) transferring the hydrostatic force of slurry to the trench walls. The effectiveness of this assumption in a wide range of trench systems has been examined with the aid of a Finite Element program. Build up of excess porewater pressure in the soil mass behind the filter cake is a function of the slurry density, the properties of filter cake, the ground conditions, time, the geometry of trench and the original ground water level. These factors were all investigated by the Finite Element Method. The most significant factors were found to be the ground conditions and the properties of filter cake.

The epoxy resin without hardener can harden by a ring-opening reaction in the presence of the alkalies produced by the hydration of cement in epoxy-modified mortars and concretes. This paper investigates the effect of curing conditions on the strength improvement of polymer-modified mortars using bisphenol A-type epoxy resin without hardener. The polymer-modified mortars using epoxy resin are prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, and subjected to ideal, water, dry and heat cures. In the heat cure, the epoxy-modified mortars are sealed or unsealed with a PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride) film. The epoxy-modified mortars are tested for flexural and compressive strengths at desired curing methods. The microstructures of the epoxy-modified mortars are also observed by scanning electron microscope. The effects of curing conditions on the strength development of the epoxy-modified mortars are examined. From the test results, the marked effectiveness of the heat cure under the PVDC film sealing against the development of the strength of the epoxy-modified mortar without the hardener is recognized. The flexural and compressive strengths of 7-day-90℃ heat-cured, PVDC film-sealed epoxy-modified mortars without hardener reach 7 to 17MPa and 24 to 44MPa respectively, and are two to three times of Unmodified mortar. Such high strength development of the epoxy-modified mortars may be achieved by the dense microstructure formation by cement hydrates and the hardening of the epoxy resin in the mortars.
