선박 추진축계 클러치 손상방지를 위한 축계 부재력 평가방법 연구 (A Study on Evaluation Method of Member Forces on the Propulsion Shaft of Ship for Damage Protection of Clutch)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the proper evaluation method of member forces on the propulsion shaft using strain gages to confirm bearing offset. The strain measurements to find out the bending moments of the shaft have been performed in the yard to be compared with the results of the shaft alignment analysis. The clutch of the propulsion shaft is highly sensitive to shear forces as well as bending moments and the necessity of the measurement of shear forces on the shaft for normal operation of the clutch is recently on the rise. In this study, an evaluation method of the member forces (bending moments and shear forces) of the shaft clutch based on the shaft strain measurement is established. Through the application of this method to the eight $216,000\;m^3$ LNG carriers, the safeties of the clutch systems are evaluated and the better bearing offsets are deduced for the LNG carriers. After adjusting the bearing offsets, all the sea trials of the eight LNG carriers are successfully carried out without any troubles.

성게껍질 분말을 육계사료에 첨가시 깔짚내 E.coli와 Salmonella에 미치는 영향 -현장연구를 중심으로- (Effects of Sea Urchin Shell Powder as Poultry Diet on E.coli and Salmonella in Poultry Litter -A Field Study-)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of sea urchin shell powder, used in broiler diet, on Esherichia coli and Salmonella in litter produced by the broilers. A total of 120 broiler chickens were fed 1 of 3 treatment diets (10 chickens per pen) in a randomized block design treatments with 4 replications. Sea urchin shell powder was used in the concentrations of 0.5% and 1% in the basal diets; the control diet was constituted of basal diet. During the 3-week feeding trials, none of the treatments significantly affected the E. coli populations in poultry litter at weeks 0 and 1, nor did they affect the and S. enterica populations at weeks 1 and 3. However, dietary sea urchin shell powder addition affected the population of E. coli at weeks 2 and 3, and that of S. entericaat weeks 0 and 2 (P<0.05). It is therefore concluded that the use of dietary sea urchin shell powder (0.5% and 1%) will be beneficial enough to reduce E. coli, rather than S. enterica in poultry litter over short-term periods.

  • A field trial in an ice-covered sea is one of the most important tasks in the design of icebreaking ships and offshore structures. To correctly estimate the ice load and ice resistance of a ship's hull, it is essential to understand the material properties of sea ice during ice field trials and to use the proper experimental procedure for gathering effective ice data. The first Korean-made icebreaking research vessel, "ARAON," had her second sea ice trial in the Arctic Ocean during the summer season of 2010. This paper describes the test procedures used to obtain proper sea ice data, which provides the basic information for the ship's performance in an ice-covered sea and is used to estimate the correct ice load and ice resistance of the IBRV ARAON. The data gathered from the sea ice in the Chukchi Sea and Beaufort Sea during the Arctic voyage of the ARAON includes the temperature, density, and salinity of the sea ice, which was believed to be from two-year old ice floes. This paper analyses the gathered sea ice data in comparison with data from the first voyage of the ARAON during her Antarctic Sea ice trial.

기계학습 및 수치실험을 활용한 선체고정형소나 해상 시운전 평가 방안 (A sea trial method of hull-mounted sonar using machine learning and numerical experiments)

  • 본 논문에서는 선체고정형소나의 해상 시운전을 효율적이면서 신뢰성 있게 수행하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 현재 함 건조 과정에서 선체고정형소나의 해상 시운전 절차에는 해저 지형, 계절적 요인 등에 따른 탐지 성능의 변동성이 세밀하게 반영되어 있지 않다. 문제 해결을 위해 1967년부터 2022년까지의 기간 동안 Array for Real time Geostrophic Oceanography(ARGO) 플로트 및 정선 해양관측 정점 데이터를 통해 수온, 염도 구조를 수집하고, 수집 된 데이터를 바탕으로 월별 평균 음속 구조를 분석하였다. Bellhop 모델링을 통해 해상 시운전 구역 내 해저 지형 선택, 선체고정형소나와 표적함의 배치, 음파 전송 방향 및 빔 조향각 설정이 포함된 해상 시운전 세부 수행 방안을 제안하였다. 또한, 획득 데이터를 활용하여 물리정보신경망이 적용된 기계학습 모델을 도출하였다. 이를 통해 해상 시운전 구역내 특정 지점에서 해상 시운전을 수행하는 시점의 계절적 요소를 반영한 음속 구조를 예측하고, Bellhop 모델링 결과를 통해 계절적 요인에 의한 탐지 성능 변동성을 반영한 해상 시운전 방안을 제시하였다.

  • This paper represents the experimental identification of a finite-dimensional dynamical plant model for the HEMIRE Remotely Operated Vehicle. The experiments were conducted during sea trials in the East Sea in October 2006 and peer testing by the South Sea Research Institute in January 2007. A least-squares method was employed to identify decoupled single degree-of-freedom plant dynamical models for the X, Y, Z and heading degree-of-freedom from experimental data. The performance of the identified plant dynamical model was evaluated by directly comparing simulations of the identified plant model to the experimentally observed motion data from the actual vehicle.

Study on the Difference of the Maneuvering Characteristics of a VLCC in Standstill from those of her in Running

  • The objective of this paper is to make clear the difference of maneuvering characteristics of a VLCC in standstill from those of her in running. The authors made mathematic models to calculate maneuvering motions of a VLCC in standstill using various ahead engine with full rudder angle and calculated their motions in each case and compared the calculated values with those of the same vessel running in sea trial tests. The difference of motions between them is great. For example, a VLCC in standstill can achieve a great alteration of heading over 90 degrees within the distance of 0.2L advance while she advances 3.0L for 90 degrees turning in full running sea trial turning test. Therefore whenever a VLCC in standstill meets a vessel approaching in collision course situation in near distance, it is better and recommendable that she should use her ahead engine with full rudder to avoid collision. So "maneuvering trial tests in standstill conditions" should be added to the content of sea trial tests when a newly built VLCC commence to take sea trials, that has not been included until now.

  • Tubing adapter is a key connection device in Gas-Tight Deep-Sea Water Sampler (GTWS). The sealing performance of the tubing adapter directly affects the GTWS's overall gas tightness. Tubing adapters with good sealing performance can ensure the transmission of seawater samples without gas leakage and can be repeatedly used. However, the sealing performance of tubing adapters made of different materials was not studied sufficiently. With the research discussed in this paper, the materials match schemes of the tubing adapters were proposed. With non-linear finite element contact analysis and sea trials in the South China Sea, it is expected that the recommended materials match schemes not only meet the requirements of tubing adapters' sealing performance but also provide the feasible options for the following research on tubing adapters in GTWS.

해상실험을 통한 저전력 수중음향통신 기법의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of the Underwater Acoustic Communication with Low Power Consumption by Sea Trials)

  • 이 논문에서는 저전력 통신 기법 가운데 하나인 PSPM(Phase Shift Pulse position Modulation) 전송 기법이 근거리 수중음향 채널에서 어떠한 성능을 나타낼지 고찰하기 위해 해상실험을 통해 분석하였다. PSPM은 QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying)와 PPM(Pulse Position Modulation) 기법을 서로 혼합한 형태로 WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) 시스템에서 저전력 통신을 위해 제안된 기법이다. 이는 기존의 일반적인 전송 방식에 비해 대역효율은 떨어지지만 전력효율은 증가하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 논문에서는 실해역에서 취득한 PSPM 데이터를 통해 BER 성능을 분석한다. 실험 결과 QPSK의 경우 총 56,000개의 전송 데이터 비트 중 오차 비트 수가 3,384개로 BER이 약 $6.04{\times}10^{-2}$이고, PSPM의 경우는 19,652개로 BER이 약 $3.5{\times}10^{-1}$를 얻었다. 또한 영상 데이터 전송에 따른 PSNR(Peak signal-to-noise ratio)을 비교한 결과 QPSK의 경우 9.37 dB 였으며, PSPM의 경우 9.11 dB 였다.

Suitable Dietary Protein/Lipid Ratio for Hybrid, Female Red Sea Bream Pagrus major and Male Black Sea Bream Acanthopagrus schlegeli in the Juvenile Stage, Compared with Red Sea Bream

  • To determine a suitable dietary protein/lipid (CP/CL) ratio in the early juvenile stages of hybrid porgy ($F_1$), female red sea bream (RSB) ${\times}$ male black sea bream, five diets with various CP/CL ratios-60/7, 55/12, 51/17, 46/23, and 41/28-were prepared and provided to juveniles in triplicate. At the smaller juvenile stage, $F_1$, weighing 0.32 g, a significantly higher specific growth rate (SGR) and feed efficiency (FE) were seen with 60/7 and 55/12 diets. However, in RSB weighing 0.26 g, SGR and FE were higher with the 60/7 diet than the other diets at $21^{\circ}C$. At the larger juvenile stage, $F_1$, weighing 3.7 g, there was no significant difference in SGR or FE among the diets, but RSB weighing 4.0 g fed 60/7, 55/12, and 51/17 diets had higher SGR and FE than 46/23 and 41/28 diets at $24^{\circ}C$. Moreover, survival and apparent nutrient retention of $F_1$ at both stages were significantly higher than those in RSB. These results indicate that both $F_1$ and RSB weighing ca. 0.3 g require a higher dietary CP/CL than those weighing ca. 4 g. Additionally, $F_1$ in both trials showed the suitability of a lower dietary CP/CL than RSB, indicating that mass production of $F_1$ juveniles will be more economical than RSB.

Study on icebreaking performance of the Korea icebreaker ARAON in the arctic sea

  • A full-scale field trial in ice-covered sea is one of the most important tasks in the design of icebreaking ships. The first Korean icebreaking research vessel 'ARAON', after her delivery in late 2009, had a sea ice field trial in the Arctic Sea during July-August, 2010. This paper describes the test procedures and data analysis on the icebreaking performance of the IBRV ARAON. The data gathered from the icebreaking performance test in the Chukchi Sea and the Beaufort Sea during the Arctic voyage of ARAON includes the speed and engine power of the ship as well as sea ice thickness and strength data. The air temperature, wind speed and heading of the ship were also measured during each sea ice trial. The ARAON was designed to break 1 m thick level ice with a flexural strength of 630kPa at a continuous speed of 3knots. She is registered as a KR POLAR 10 class ship. The principal dimensions of ARAON are 110 m, 19 m and 6.8 m in length, breadth and draft respectively. She is equipped with four 3,500kW diesel-electric main engines and two Azipod type propulsion motors. Four sea ice trials were carried out to understand the relationship between the engine power and the ship speed, given the Arctic ice condition. The analysis shows that the ARAON was able to operate at 1.5knots in a 2.5m thick medium ice floe condition with the engine power of 5MW, and the speed reached 3.1 knots at the same ice floe condition when the power increased to 6.6MW. She showed a good performance of speed in medium ice floe compared to the speed performance in level ice. More detailed analysis is summarized in this paper.
