  • Nanofood is advanced functional food which food industry and food scientist try to develop process foods in near future. To be developed nanofood, nanofood materials are needed, such as biodegradable nanosphere material, biotechnical nanofood material, and protein and nanofood material. There are some food industrial applications with nanotechnology, such as nanoencapsulation, nanomolecule making, nanoparticle and powder making, nano separation, and nano extration. We can find several nanofoods and nanofood materials on the market. In addition, dairy industry is also in the first step for the development of nanofunctional food. However, nanoencapsulations of lactase, iron, vitamin C, isoflavone are developed for functional milk. Dairy industry needs various nanofood materials to be advanced functional dairy products.

  • Wang Hao Gu is a famous Chinese medical scientist of the 13 century. He studied the oldest classic in China, Huangjaenaekyung, and also studied Zhangzhongjing's medical documents. He was influenced by contemporary medical scientists Zhang Yuan Su and Li Dong Yuan, and came up with an original medical theory Yinzheng. Although he is of considerable importance in the history of medicine, not many studies on him were done in Korea although Korean medicine was influenced by Chinese medicine. This study focuses on the study of his insight on medical stuffs and theory of Shanghan.

  • Web GIS (Geographic Information Systems) service systems provide the various GIS services of analyzing and displaying the spatial data with friendly user-interface. These services are expanding the business domain and many users want to access the distributed various spatial data. But, it is difficult to access diverse data sources because of different spatial data format and data access methods. In this paper, we design and implement web GIS services based on the inter-operability and GML (Geography Markup Language) of OGC(Open GIS Consortium) in web distributed environment. Inter-operability provides unique accessing method to distributed data sources based on OLE DB technology of Microsoft. In addition, GML support web GIS services based on XML. We design these GIS services as components using UML (Unified Modeling Language) of an object-oriented modeling language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software system. In addition, they also were developed in object-oriented computing environment, and it provides the interoperability, language-independent, easy developing environment as well as re-usability.

  • The term of stress was used by many scientists, but there were several difinitions about stress, and this term are using in societies frequently. Generally stress is defined as equilibrium, harmony, and adaptation to external stimulations, in 1930 s Hans Selye was the first scientist who used the term of stress and he pointed out the stress mean the function of force in body. When we get stress the stimulation go to the sympathetic-adrenomedulla system and epinephrine and norepinnephrine are secreted from adrenal medulla. Author tried to investigate the change of catecholamine secretion from rat urine which were exposed to 80 dB noise environment. The control rat urine released 0.03 $\pm$ 0.01 ng/ml of epinephrine and 0.18 $\pm$ 0.04 ng/ml, but in noise exposed group the epinephrine was 0.42 $\pm$ 0.07 ng/ml and norepinephrine was 2.16 $\pm$ 0.48 ng/ml.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of a science drama on elementary students' science attitudes. To this study, the survey measured science attitudes conducted to the experimental group(N=33) and the control group(N=33), and it was interviewed to them after their science drama. The interview was recorded to make a transcript, then used to complement the results of sub-domain analysis. The results were as follows: There was a statistically significant difference in curiosity and creativity regarding scientific attitude, and interest in science and appreciation of scientist regarding attitudes towards science. Though there was no statistical significance in the other domain of science attitudes, we confirmed that students' science attitudes was changed more positively and meaningfully by the analysis of the interview. Based-on this study, we suggested the implications and the following studies.

  • When a social scientist prepares to conduct a survey, he/she faces the problem of deciding an appropriate sample size. Sample size is closely connected with cost, time, and the precision of the sample estimate. It is thus important to choose a size appropriate for the survey, but this may be difficult for survey researchers not skilled in a sampling theory. In this study we propose a method to determine a sample size under certain assumptions when the quantity of interest is measured by a Likert scale.

  • A wind tunnel simulation requires high-performance computing power like supercomputers and deep knowledge of this subject. Those requirements make win tunnel simulation difficult. Grid technology will make these difficulties simpler by providing easy to use grid web portal. By using grid web portal, scientist can execute simulation and access to high-performance computing power without any serious difficulties. In this paper will present a grid web portal for a wind tunnel simulation that is used in Aerospace area.

  • We have uncovered 14 Korean royal astronomers and one scientist who worked in the early and mid-18th century. In spite of their high positions in the government office, all of them but one were not recorded anywhere in the major histories, such as WangjoSillok(王朝實錄) and JeungboMunheonBigo(增補文獻備考). Our search of Bon'gwans for each person has been carried successfully for 13 scientists. Their family relations are also uncovered finding five eminent astronomy families.

  • Alstonia scholaris is known as 'Saptaparna' in Ayurvedic System of Medicines and the bark is used for the treatment of various diseases. It has various ethnomedicinal values as different traditional communities find diverse medicinal properties. The present communication deals with the seasonal variation studies of the stem bark of this plant. The bark was collected in the month of January, July and November. There is no macro-microscopical changes in all the three seasons but the ash values showed significant differences. Crude fibre content showed sharp decline from January to July to November. Total tannin percentage was found maximum in January and minimum in June. TLC finger print profile showed more concentration of constituents in January as compared to June and November. Hence, the bark may show more efficacy when collected in January.
