Global environmental deterioration has become more serious year by year and thus scientific interests in the renewable energy as environmental technology and replacement of fossil fuels have grown exponentially. Photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell consisting of semiconductor photoelectrodes that can harvest light and use this energy directly to split water, also known as photoelectrolysis or solar water splitting, is a promising renewable energy technology to produce hydrogen for uses in the future hydrogen economy. A major advantage of PEC systems is that they involve relatively simple processes steps as compared to many other H2 production systems. Until now, a number of materials including TiO2, WO3, Fe2O3, and BiVO4 were exploited as the photoelectrode. However, the PEC performance of these single absorber materials is limited due to their large charge recombinations in bulk, interface and surface, leading low charge separation/transport efficiencies. Recently, coupling of two materials, e.g., BiVO4/WO3, Fe2O3/WO3 and CuWO4/WO3, to form a type II heterojunction has been demonstrated to be a viable means to improve the PEC performance by enhancing the charge separation and transport efficiencies. In this study, we have prepared a triple-layer heterojunction BiVO4/WO3/SnO2 photoelectrode that shows a comparable PEC performance with previously reported best-performing nanostructured BiVO4/WO3 heterojunction photoelectrode via a facile solution method. Interestingly, we found that the incorporation of SnO2 nanoparticles layer in between WO3 and FTO largely promotes electron transport and thus minimizes interfacial recombination. The impact of the SnO2 interfacial layer was investigated in detail by TEM, hall measurement and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. In addition, our planar-structured triple-layer photoelectrode shows a relatively high transmittance due to its low thickness (~300 nm), which benefits to couple with a solar cell to form a tandem PEC device. The overall PEC performance, especially the photocurrent onset potential (Vonset), were further improved by a reactive-ion etching (RIE) surface etching and electrocatalyst (CoOx) deposition.

Man is confronted with a lot of unknowable phenomena in his life. With the passage of time, man has interpreted the world by the accumulation of experience and development of thought. In the early days of the civilization when all the phenomena was not explained in a scientific way, man was dependent of the psycho-cultural interpretation by the accumulation of experience. Folk-Belief is one of the psycho-cultural interpretation about the nature. If Folk-Belief is paraphrased in a semiotic way, it is as follows : 'the traditional expression which believes that one or several sign and condition show one or several effects.' In this respect, Folk-Belief is the interpretation about the nature, man and society, as it were, the world. Folk-Belief is folkloristic semiotics. This article intends to clarify the process of Folk-Belief formation process. To investigate the Folk-Belief formation process, this article regards Folk-Belief as an interpretant which is the term from the semiotic theory of C. S. Peirce. Peirce explains the incessant semiosis that sign brings forth sign through the trichotomy relation among sign - object - interpretant. Folk-Belief is explained by the general characteristics of interpretant of Peirce when we regard Folk-Belief as an interpretant. By Peirce, Folk-Belief is 'something which believes that human mind represents something about some phenomena' The category of 'some phenomena' is included in a range of semiotics, we can look into Folk-Belief in a semiotic way.

A cooperative Korea-Japan investigation for the demersal fisheries resources of the East China Sea was carried out by using the training ship Oshoro Maru belong to Hokkaido University Japan, during 5-12 November, 1989. The research vessel sampled 24 stations with demersal trawls on the East China Sea continental shelf, and 96 nautical miles of track line were surveyed hydroacoustically. The echo sounder used during the survey was of a scientific type having echo integration capabilities and the computer system was programmed to obtain echo integration data for each depth stratum between the transducer and the bottom. The target strength of fish school(TS per 1kg) was estimated from the relationship between mean volume backscattering strength and catches caught by the demersal trawls. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. Approximately 96 species were identified from survey catches. 2. The mean volume backscattering strength for the layer occupied by bottom trawls at 25 and 100 KHz were-63.9 dB and -67.3 dB, respectively. Then the average catch per unit time of each trawl haul was 58.8 kg/hour. 3. The mean volume backscattering strength for the entire layer between the transducer and the bottom at 25 and 100KHz were -61.9 dB and -67.0 dB, respectively. 4. The mean fish school target strength per unit weight(TS/kg) at 25 and 100 KHz were -23.6 dB/kg and -26.6 dB/kg, respectively.

The vertical distribution and activity patterns of fishes during the evening and morning transitions between day and night were studied acoustically and by bottom trawling in November 1990-1992 in thermally stratified waters of the East China Sea. The acoustic data were collected from six stations with a scientific echo-sounder operating at two frequencies of 25 and 100kHz, and the echograms were used to determine the vertical distributions of fish. Biological sampling was accomplished by bottom trawling to identify fish species recorded on the echograms, and the species and length compositions were determined. At each station, vertical profiles of water temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen were taken with a CTD system and were related to the diel movements and the depth distributions of fish. During the day most fish were within several meters above bottom, but began to migrate upwards just before sunset, and during the night they were dispersed in midwater. Prior to sunrise with a thermocline present, one group of the fish aggregation occurred in dense schools slightly above the thermocline, while the other group occurred with the numerous single fish-traces bellow it. These groups of aggregations rapidly began to migrate toward the bottom across the thermocline from about 40 min before sunrise. Trawl hauls in the bottom strata below the thermocline with the characteristic single fish traces yieled invariably catches dominated by snailfish and fishing frog with minor quantities of other species in all stations. Hence, the results indicate that snailfish and fishing frog were the dominated scatterers in the depth strata below the thermocline, and the single-fish recordings were mainly snailfish. The fish species such as anchovy and juvenile mackerel in bottom trawl catches is poorly represented in relation to the mesh selectivity of the trawl net, but their occurrence suggest that the fish-school recording above the thermocline were due to these species which migrated vertically across the thermocline, with a temperature gradient of about 8$^{\circ}C$, from the water layers near the bottom at night. Accordingly, we conclude that the vertical distribution and activity patterns of snailfish were strongly temperature dependent and in the termally stratified waters, the upper limit to diel activity was closely linked to the position of the thermocline.
The NISS (Near-infrared Imaging Spectrometer for Star formation history) onboard NEXTSat-1 is the near-infrared instrument optimized to the first small satellite of NEXTSat series. The capability of both imaging and low spectral resolution spectroscopy in the near-infrared range is a unique function of the NISS. The major scientific mission is to study the cosmic star formation history in local and distant universe. For those purposes, the main targets are nearby galaxies, galaxy clusters, star-forming regions and low background regions. The off-axis optical design of the NISS with two linear variable filters is optimized to have a wide field of view ($2deg.{\times}2deg.$) as well as the wide wavelength range from 0.95 to $3.8{\mu}m$. The mechanical structure is considered to endure the launching condition as well as the space environment. The dewar inside the telescope is designed to operate the infrared detector at 80K stage. From the thermal analysis, we confirmed that the telescope and the dewar can be cooled down to around 200K and 80K, respectively in order to reduce the large amount of thermal noise. The stray light analysis is shown that a light outside a field of view can be reduced below 1%. After the fabrications of the parts of engineering qualification model (EQM), the NSS EQM was successfully assembled and integrated into the satellite. To verify operations of the satellite in space, the space environment tests such as the vibration, shock and thermal-vacuum test were performed. Here, we report the results of the critical design review for the NISS.
To estimate the sediment discharge controlled by sediment-filled check-dam and thereby enhancing factor for check-dam design and dredging criteria, we surveyed slope failures and stream-bed fluctuation caused by geomorphic disturbances (i.e., landslides and debris flows) in Inje, Gangwondo. In general, check-dams play roles for restraining and controlling sediment discharge within a section under the design equilibrium gradient and a section under the design flood gradient, respectively. The results in this study showed same pattern: that is, the closed type check-dam, which has a design restraint sediment discharge of $2,111m^3$, estimated to control a sediment discharge of $3,996m^3$ in the stream section within 250 m right upper area immediately after the disturbances occurred in 2006. As a result, a design control sediment discharge of the check-dam was larger than its design restraint sediment discharge. This represents that the check-dam is still having an own function for controlling sediment discharge although it exceeded the designed capacity by the sediment discharged from upstream during the disturbances. Our finding suggests that the sediment discharge controlling of check-dam may need to be evaluated separately from its sediment discharge restraint. Currently, the country, however, does not consider the design control (or restraint) sediment discharges, based on the actual field survey, as criteria for check-dam design and/or dredging work. Therefore, the accumulation of the quantitative data is required to support that check-dam has functions for both restraining and controlling sediment discharge. This would be a way to develop our erosion control technology to the scientific technology equipped with a more objective and systematic aspects.

Tourism or travel business consists of a set of services for people who visit exotic places. Payment is usually marking the end of the series of activities relating to tourism, and it becomes the linkage for the next activity. With the recent advancement of mobile Fintech technologies, we have learned that more convenient and more secure financial transactions are improving the quality of tourism. It should be noted that tourism counts on information technology heavily in terms of mobile Internet and smart devices use, which yields to a wide business opportunities for Fintech startups. However, payment information has not been highlighted for additional marketing promotion activities. The lack of research into information technology-based business models that extend Fintech services related to payment in venture start-up studies hinders the understanding of the possibility of creating new business through the value creation process after payment. This study attempts to investigate this issue based on the theory of smart tourism and service-dominant logic with developing a new information system. More specifically, marketing promotion activities after payment for Chinese tourists visiting Korea are examined. Specifically, WeChat Pay and instant tax refund service were considered while the system was developed by following desing science research methodology. This study is meaningful in that it finds a new possibility of Fintech business model by applying scientific and academic methods, and it reminds the necessity of service automation system centered on instant tax refund.
In order to satisfy customers' desire that is becoming more diverse, and to create the unique character of a product in the fast changing social structure and living environment, today's designers have to make efforts to provide new ideas continuously. In the twentieth century, the development of design in various aspects could be possible through an epoch-making progress of technology and industrialization, and thus the meaning and style of design has changed differently according to the current of the times. The retro design, which borrows the designs and styles which were popular in the past and recreates the design of modern meaning and concept, is widely applied now and in the spotlight as a latest design trend. This phenomenon of revival style appears as an image that makes us recollect the past in various fields while being recognized as an another value of new sense. Considered from the history of style changes for the past 100 years, the automobile design, the most representative in product design fields, has gradually changed in its types according to continuous historical, social, and cultural changes and technological progress, while a variety of designs have been continuously presented. The recent current of automobile styles, according to the rapid progress of advanced scientific technology, shows the fast and various changes and the retro style is becoming a new trend arousing people's interests and reintroducing the past designs. The revival trend in automobile designs is expected to stimulate human sensitivity and restore humanity on a different level before the trend, and also expected to be recreated as a new design trend in modern sense, connecting us with the past culture and expanding the realms of future designs.
This study was performed to acquire scientific data for establishing the maximum residue limits (MRLs) of pesticides in Korean red ginseng and its extract. Pesticides (azoxystrobin, fenhexamid, cyprodinil) were applied to a cultivated field of ginseng, and the fresh ginseng was harvested and processed to make Korean red ginseng and its extract. The reduction rates of the residue pesticides were calculated by determining the pesticide contents in each stage of ginseng processing. The residue levels in fresh ginseng were 0.12 ppm for azoxystrobin, 0.19 ppm for fenhexamid, and 1.78 ppm for cyprodinil. The residue levels in Korean red ginseng were 0.24, 0.54, and 1.49 ppm, and in the extract 0.81, 1.93, and 3.66 ppm for azoxystrobin, fenhexamid, and cyprodinil, respectively. The steaming and processing of fresh ginseng increased azoxystrobin and fenhexamid residues, but cyprodinil was reduced. The reduction rates (dry basis) of azoxystrobin, fenhexamid, and cyprodinil were 0.66, 0.94, and 0.28 for Korean red ginseng, and 3.25, 4.94, and 1.01 for the extract, respectively.

With the development of GeoWeb technology, 2D/3D spatial information services through the web are also has been used increasingly in the application of disaster management. This paper is suggested to construct a web-based 3D geo-spatial information mapping platform to visualize various spatial information collected at the disaster site in a web environment. This paper is presented a web-based geo-spatial information mapping service plan for the various types of 2D/3D spatial data and large-volume LiDAR point cloud data collected at the disaster accident site using HTML5/WebGL, web development standard technology and open source. Firstly, the collected disaster site survey 2D data is constructed as a spatial DB using GeoServer's WMS service and PostGIS provided an open source and rendered in a web environment. Secondly, in order to efficiently render large-capacity 3D point cloud data in a web environment, a Potree algorithm is applied to simplifies point cloud data into 2D tiles using a multi-resolution octree structure. Lastly, OpenLayers3 based 3D web mapping pilot system is developed for web visualization of 2D/3D spatial information by implementing basic and application functions for controlling and measuring 3D maps with Graphic User Interface (GUI). For the further research, it is expected that various 2D survey data and various spatial image information of a disaster site can be used for scientific investigation and analysis of disaster accidents by overlaying and visualizing them on a built web-based 3D geo-spatial information system.
