This paper is a proposal of Sentinel Asia for Environment (SAFE). The essential to this project is to help environmental agencies in Asia to set up an environmental monitoring system with satellite observation data. It is focused on an environmental issues originated from anthropogenic events detected as land cover and land use change in Asians' daily human life including; agriculture, global warming gas, urban environment and forest resources. It is leaded by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) along with University of Tokyo and Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand under the umbrella of Sentinel Asia which is dedicated to disaster monitoring issues. It is expected to initiate a information outgoing through WWW for Asian countries to set up their national land information system focusing on environmental changes.

In this paper, we present indoor positioning technologies using the wireless signal categorizing them into triangulation based, fingerprinting based, and cell ID based technologies. We describe several representative techniques for each of them emphasizing their strengths and weaknesses. We define important performance issues for indoor positioning technologies and analyze recent technologies according to the performance issues. We believe that this paper provide wise view and necessary information for recent indoor positioning technologies using wireless signals.

Mobile Banking Applications (MBAPs) is one of the recent fads in mobile trading applications (Apps). MBAPs permit users to execute exchanges of money and many more whenever it might suit them; however, the primary issue for mobile banking Apps is usability. Hardly any investigation analyzes usability issues dependent on user's age, gender, exchanging accomplices, or experience. The purpose of this study is to determine the degree of usability issues, and experience of mobile banking users. The survey employs a quantitative method and performs user experiment on 240 participants with six different tasks on the application's interface. The post experiment survey is done with concerning participants. On the other hand, banking experts and Information Technology (IT) expert's group is also involved after the experiment. Expert's opinions about existing mobile banking Apps and suggestions for improving usability of MBAPs are collected through physical means (like questionnaire and interview) and online means like Google form. After that comparison of the opinions of users and experts about MBAPs is performed. The experimentation measures the tasks usability of various mobile banking apps with respect to its effectiveness, efficiency, trustfulness, learnability, memorability and satisfaction. The usability testing was led at different Universities and the outcomes acquired show that there are privacy and trust issues with their mobile banking apps. There is also a gap between users and experts which should be minimized by applying customized usability models, modes concept like other application software and also by adding complete features of banking in MBAPs. It will benefit mobile banking apps users, developers and usability engineers by providing user-friendly which are up to the mark of user's requirements.

Fog computing diversifies cloud computing by using edge devices to provide computing, data storage, communication, management, and control services. As it has a decentralised infrastructure that is capable of amalgamating with cloud computing as well as providing real-time data analysis, it is an emerging method of using multidisciplinary domains for a variety of applications; such as the IoT, Big Data, and smart cities. This present study provides an overview of the security and privacy concerns of fog computing. It also examines its fundamentals and architecture as well as the current trends, challenges, and potential methods of overcoming issues in fog computing.

Innovation Policy has evolved to solve social problems through technological innovation. Industrial innovation policy promotes technological innovation so that it consolidates industrial competitiveness and aims at economic growth; however, societal innovation policy promotes technological innovation in the social service domain to improve the quality of life and strengthen sustainability. A different policy regime is required because the objectives and directions of societal innovation policy are different from those of industrial innovation policy. This report consolidates the concepts and characteristics of societal innovation policy that suggest policy options.

Information culture is a concept with multiple and sometimes conflicting definitions. Nevertheless at a time when social and cognitive aspects of information and communication systems are recognized as being of similar significance as the technological functionality, the concept of information culture is demonstrating considerable value. This paper explains the concept of information culture and considers its value from two main perspectives: firstly as providing an analytical tool, and secondly as a means of providing practitioners with insight and sensitivity to the organisational contexts of their workplaces.

Welding technology plays an important role in the fabrication of structure, and this has led to an increasing attention in the use of high quality advanced welding technology such as power beam welding, friction stir welding, and laser-arc hybrid welding, etc. At the same time, welding can influence various factors in the performance of plant and equipment, and corrosion behaviour of weldment has been one of the major issues for both welding and corrosion research engineers. The aim of this paper is to give a short survey of the recent technical trends of welding and corrosion behaviours including the electrochemical corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion fatigue in connection with the welding materials, welding process, and welding fabrication.

Science, technology, society and humanities (STSH) fusion research is aimed at creating new research areas and methods that can resolve complicated issues in society that cannot be solved by a single academic discipline. This study identifies initiatives that can promote STSH fusion research in Korea. We review the definition and characteristics of STSH fusion research to analyze the necessity of STSH fusion research with a focus on the structural changes in the S&T environment. The emergence and diffusion of generic technologies, transition to post catch-up innovation mode, and the evolution of policy to the third generation innovation policy are identified as notable changes. This paper briefly reviews the status of fusion research underway and presents initiatives to promote STSH fusion research.

Recently, the fringe-field switching (FFS) mode in liquid crystal displays has been used mainly for high image quality and high-resolution liquid crystal displays (LCDs). In this review paper, the fundamental switching principle of the FFS mode, with its excellence over other LC modes in electro-optic performance, will be described. In addition, the development history, present technical issues, and future of the FFS LCD will be discussed.
