Distortionless optimal stereoscopic image condition considering general viewing distance in the TV condition

  • Large distortion is made by toed-in camera configuration in the TV condition that has short viewing distance, when the gaze position of a stereoscopic image coincides with that of real space. Therefore, in the TV condition, we confirmed that the proper camera configuration is the modified parallel configuration, and found distortionless optimal stereoscopic image condition using this camera configuration.

Classification of TV Program Scenes Based on Audio Information

  • In this paper, we propose a classification system of TV program scenes based on audio information. The system classifies the video scene into six categories of commercials, basketball games, football games, news reports, weather forecasts and music videos. Two type of audio feature set are extracted from each audio frame-timbral features and coefficient domain features which result in 58-dimensional feature vector. In order to reduce the computational complexity of the system, 58-dimensional feature set is further optimized to yield l0-dimensional features through Sequential Forward Selection (SFS) method. This down-sized feature set is finally used to train and classify the given TV program scenes using κ -NN, Gaussian pattern matching algorithm. The classification result of 91.6% reported here shows the promising performance of the video scene classification based on the audio information. Finally, the system stability problem corresponding to different query length is investigated.

  • 최근 본격적인 지상파 디지털 방송 서비스가 급속히 확산되면서 케이블 TV와 지상파 TV에 공통으로 사용되는 셋탑박스(settop-box)개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 또한 이러한 셋탑박스를 검증할 수 있는 검증 어플리케이션의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 지상파 TV와 케이블 TV에 공용으로 사용되는 디지털 셋탑박스(settop-box)가 ACAP과 OCAP 미들웨어 표준에 따라 개발되었는지 여부를 검증할 수 있는 어플리케이션을 설계하고 구현한다. 이 검증 어플리케이션은 ACAP과 OCAP 표준에 명시된 자바 API를 셋탑박스에서 제공하는지 여부와 올바른 필수 기능의 구현 여부를 검증할 수 있다. 그리고 실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 구현한 검증 어플리케이션을 사용하면 OCAP 표준의 경우 99%, ACAP표준의 경우 95%를 검증할 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • The article examines the process of professional training in educational institutions, media technologies and methods of media communication in the educational space of the institution, characterizes the place of media technologies in the educational space in the context of the term "educational space" itself, systematizes the methods of media communications in education. The peculiarities of media education as a set of means and methods of teaching young people adequate media perception are pointed out.

Children′s Attitudes Toward Food Advertisement on Children′s Television Program (어린이 시간대 식품광고에 대한 어린이들의 수용 태도)

  • The study was conducted to investigate children's attitudes toward food advertisement on children's television programs. A total of 868 subjects were selected from two KangNam and KangBook elementary schools (4, 5, 6th graders). First, it was reviewed food ads. On children's television program on 3 channels between 5∼7 pm from April to July in 1997. Among the total television commercials, 58% were food product ads.. Among the advertised food, the largest number of ads. was for beverages (21.6%) and the next was for cookies (19.7%), followes by sharbet and ice cream (19.5%), fast food (12.4%), cereal (5.5%) and milk and milk products (2.9%). This review revealed that the mostly advertised food are high in calorie, fat and sugar. Secondly, it was conducted a survey. The results of the survey were as follows: weekly average TV watching hours per child: 13.5. 50.8% of the children watched children's program on TV. 83.9% of the subjcts answered that they get their information about new food through TV ads.. 59.2% of children tried to buy the food advertised on TV program. The relationship between TV food ads. and health, 49.4% of the children answered that advertised food were not good for one's health. When we asked them to choose between advertised and non-advertised food, they preferred the advertised ones, such as cookies, beverages, fast food restaurants and cereals (p<0.001). The results of this study suggest that children's purchasing and selecting of food were influenced by TV food advertisement. Therefore, education is needed which will help children's make responsible, informed consumers choices.

  • UHDTV방송을 준비하면서 대용량 영상데이터의 전송이 중요시 되고 있다. 그러나 이용자의 미디어 이용행태는 언제 어디서나 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 매체를 더 선호하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수신능률을 높이고, 향후 8K UHDTV 등 초고화질 서비스도 가능하도록 TV채널 폭의 확장에 의한 UHDTV방송의 효과를 제시하고자 한다.

  • 세계의 주요 선진국들은 90년대 후반에 디지털 방송을 시작하였으며, 지상파 방송에 대해서 2010년 이내에 대부분 기존의 아날로그 TV 방송을 중단하고 완전히 디지털로 이행하는 계획을 세워 놓고 있다. 디지 털 TV 방송을 시 작함으로써 고화질, 다채널의 이점뿐만 아니라 데이터 방송을 통하여 다양한 부가 데이터 서비스를 제공하는 것이 가능하게 되며, 더 나아가TV를 통한 전자상거래가 가능하게 되는 등 TV수신기는 향후 각 가정의 정보, 오락의 게이트웨이 역할을 할 수 있게 되는 것이 훨씬 더 의미가 있다고 하겠다. 본 고에서는 디지털 방송의 가장 큰 장점으로 대두된 데이터 방송의 세계적인 기술 개발, 표준화 현황 등을 살펴보고 국내 표준화 대응 방향을 검토해 보기로 한다.
