Recent years have witnessed an increasing number of alternative school students in Korea. However, few studies have empirically examined these students' school adjustment and peer relationship skills. To address this gap in the literature, this study examines the effects of individual characteristics, family characteristics and peer relationship skills on these students' school adjustment. Four aspects of school adjustment were measured as dependent variables. These four aspects included peer relationship adjustment, relationships with teachers, school environment adjustment, and schoolwork attitude adjustment. The peer relationship skills included three components, namely initiative, mutual closeness, and order awareness. Data were collected from 323 alternative middle and high school students through a structured questionnaire. The statistical analysis methods included descriptive statistics and a hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS WIN 19.0. According to the results, peer relationship skills as well as family background characteristics, including the age of the father, the education level of the father, the family economic level, and the number of close family members, had significant effects on school adjustment. The results highlight the importance of peer relationship skills for these students' successful school adjustment and have important policy and theoretical implications.
This study was carried out in order to facilitate the consumption of milk which tend to decrease in recent years and to improve the school milk program. The survey by means of prepared questionnaire was conducted to investigate a perception and satisfaction of school milk program, and milk intake at home and school with elementary, middle, and high school students. Most of the subjects thought drinking milk is important for their health but only 50.2% of them were actually drinking milk everyday. In particular, the frequency of consuming milk at home was significantly lower in students being provided with school milk program than the students without school milk program. Most of the students commonly drunk plain milk rather than flavored milk, however actually they preferred flavored milk to plain milk. The frequency of consuming milk and the degree of satisfaction for milk being served in the school milk program was lowered. The major reason of disliking milk being served in school milk program was ‘poor taste’. And to promote milk consumption in school milk program, the subjects anticipated the serving of various milk and dairy products, flavored milk and yogurt etc. Thus, it was suggested that to improve the school milk program and promote milk consumption among the students, serving various products that can satisfy their preferences and demands and the proper food guide and education on nutrition are called for.
Purpose: This study investigated differences in the relationships of factors including emotional problems, self-perception, parental behavior, and peer attachment with smartphone dependency (SD) among middle school, high school, and college students in South Korea. Methods: This study used data from a nationwide sample of 1,882 middle school, 1,821 high school, and 1,346 college students who owned smartphones. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were conducted to investigate the predictors of SD based on school level. Results: SD scores significantly differed across school levels. Female gender, more aggressive behavior, less ego-identity, and less monitoring parental behavior were linked to higher SD at all school levels. Less self-esteem and intrusive parental behavior were linked to SD in middle school students. In high school students, additional factors related to higher levels of SD were resilience, intrusive / inconsistent parental behavior, peer trust and alienation, and depression. Additionally, resilience, over-expectant parental behavior, and peer trust were linked to higher SD in college students. Conclusion: This study provides insights into SD and predictors of SD among middle school, high school, and college students. Based on these findings, SD prevention programs should be developed according to the developmental stages of adolescents and young adults.

This study analyzes the influences on the reading flow, reading satisfaction, and continuous willingness to read books for parents, teachers, and friends as a reading role model to influence high school students and the differences in the personal characteristics; gender, disciplines, and grade. The result shows that the most important contributor for high school students' reading is friends and male students are more influenced by their friends than female students. In addition, students in vocational high school are more influenced by their friends than students in academic high school. Parents factor relatively affects the reading for male students, 3rd grade students in high school, and students in academic high school. On the other hand, teachers barely affect the reading factors for students.
This Study was carried out to investigate dietary life and recognition of diet related factors in elemantary, middle and high school students. This study was
surveyed by questionnaires and data were analyzed by SPSS program. Comparative analysis was conducted according to three school student groups(elementary childrens, middle school students, high school students). The subjects were 1,886 school students(female 893, male 959) of 51 schools in nationalwide region. The Distribution of subjects was elementary school childrens 544, middle school students 661 and high school students 681. The results are summarized as follows.
Only Sixty percent of the subjects had breakfast regularly. About one forth of the subjects had the habit of skipping breakfast or eating 2-3 times per week. Pricipal reasons of skipping breakfast were 'busy'(50.7%) and 'not delicious or poor appetite'(31.0%). Regularity of having breakfast and reasions of skipping breakfast were significant differences according to school student groups(p<0.001 respectively). About half of the subjects didn't have sufficient amounts in breakfast. Most subjects(92.1%) had lunch regularly by virtue of school lunch service. One forth of the subjects had dinner irregularly. Pricipal reasons of skipping dinner were 'not delicious'(41.7%), 'busy'(15.1%) and 'weight loss'(14.3%). Regularity of having dinner and reasons of skipping dinner were significant differences according to school student groups(p<0.01, p<0.001 respectively). The most delicious meal was dinner in 56.7% of the subjects and lunch in 37.1% of the subjects. There was significant difference in recognition of most delicious meal according to school student groups(p<0.001). Only ten percent of the subjects thought that nutrition education was not needed. Diettitian was recognized as nutrition educator in sixty percent of the subjects. Only 5 percent of the subject recognized teacher as nutrition educator. There were not significant differences in most delicious meal and nutrition educator according to operation type of school lunch service. The findings suggested continuous attention and guidance for healthy dietary life and necessity of nutrition education for both school students and their parents.

The purpose of this study is to satisfy students in adolescent trends of school uniforms and to provide them with useful material with matching current fashions by analyzing the attitude of students toward uniform transformation in female highschool students and investigating factors influencing on behaviors of uniform transformation. The subjects of this study are 30 students in Daegu with the basic ways of investigating such as depth interview and survey. The results are as follows; First, students agree to wearing school uniforms. As the main reason for wearing school uniforms, students put emphasis on peer pressure. It is also analyzed that the figure of students' body have some influence on the attitude of students toward wearing uniform while students' appearance have no influence on the attitude of students toward wearing uniform. Second, students showed high satisfaction in school uniforms. While students are satisfied with design and color of school uniform, they are not satisfied with practicality, economic efficiency and the quality of textile. Third, the study shows most students have experience of uniform transformation as a result of depth interview about actual condition of uniform transformation. Whereas students usually wear the jacket with its width and length shortened, they tend to lengthen skirt and unstitch pleat of skirt. Fourth, there are many reasons for uniform transformation as a result of depth interview with students. Transformation for satisfying aesthetic desire tops the list, followed by transformation for matching, transformation for peer pressure. As shown by the results above, every school needs to make various efforts to satisfy students, teachers and parents by considering and using students' opinion in order to choose the better school uniforms. In addition, the study related to school uniform transformation need to have more various investigating ways to acquire more authentic results such as expanding the subjects to not only students but also teachers and parents and in-depth comparison between subjects.

The purpose of this study was to compare the school life of Korean high school students between public and proprietary schools, especially focused on their internal experiences and flow. Internal experiences were composed of three dimensions: emotion, cognitive efficiency, and satisfaction. Flow was classified into four conditions: apathy, boredom, anxiety, and flow. The study results are: 1. Korean high school students felt more flow when they were in public school than in proprietary school,. In public school, they felt relatively more bored, and on the other hand, they were relatively more anxious in proprietary school. 2. Korean high school students felt more positive emotions when they were in public school than in proprietary school. 3. Korean high school students were more involved into study when they were in public school than in proprietary school. 4. Korean high school students were more satisfied when they were in public school than in proprietary school.
The main purpose of this study is to provide a basic knowledge of Kimchi preferred by high school students and to improve high school students' Kimchi intake. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 1,056 high school students in Taegu area. The results were as follows: 82% of the students had an affirmative opinion of Kimchi intake and they regarded Kimchi as one of our traditional, healthful and nutritious foods. The most well known Kimchi is as follows: Kkaktugi, Baechu Kimchi, Mul Kimchi, Chonggak Kimchi, Pa Kimchi, Dongchimi, Kkaennip Kimchi and Buchu Kimchi. The students preferred the white stems of the Chinese cabbage. Boy students preferred taste of fresh prepared Kimchi but girl students more preferred properly fermented Kimchi than the other. Their favorite ingredients were Korean radishes, oysters, green onion and carrots, also their favorite spices were red pepper powder, anchovies sauce, garlic and sugar in the order. Among those spices, boy students more preferred anchovies sauce than girl students. The students regarded market Kimchi as one of convenient and time-saving, but less quality and insanitary foods.

Purpose: This study develops a chatbot for school violence prevention (C-SVP) among elementary school students. Methods: Among the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) models, ADD phases were applied to develop a C-SVP. Students' learning needs were identified by constructing content with a design that attracted their attention. Subsequently, a formative evaluation was conducted on the developed C-SVP to test its applicability by ten elementary school students targeting the 5th and 6th grades. Results: The chatbot was designed using KakaoTalk and named "School Guardian Angel." The formative evaluation revealed that the developed C-SVP was easily accessible and useful for elementary school students. Conclusion: The developed C-SVP is expected to be effective in preventing violence among elementary school students. However, further research involving children of various age groups is required.
This study analyzed the teacher's perception for influence of behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students on general students in elementary school science class. To do this, we selected the eight elementary school teachers who were conducting the regular science classes including scientifically-gifted students belonging to the gifted education institutes in Seoul and conducted individual in-depth interviews. The analysis of the results reveal that the teachers mentioned seven behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students in general elementary school science classes.: 'excellent in designing and performing experiments', 'playing a leading role in experiments', 'expressing their abundant prior knowledge frequently', 'attempting their tasks with curiosity and persistence', 'displaying scientific creativity', 'often asking scientific questions in detail', and 'expressing their opinions logically'. These behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students had positive effects on general students, such as 'providing them with a successful experience in conducting experiments', 'improving understanding of science class contents', 'developing scientific thinking and reflective thinking', and 'improving their students' positive experiences about science'. However, the excessive learning-driven behaviors of scientifically-gifted students had negative effects on general students, such as 'limiting opportunities for general students to participate in classes', 'conducting passive exploration centered on results', and 'causing conflicts with general students'. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.
