Purpose: This study examined the needs for asthma education programs as perceived by school-age children, parents, and teachers and investigated parents' and teachers' expectations for incorporating augmented reality (AR) in asthma education. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study included 339 participants: 125 school-age children, 132 parents, and 82 teachers. Data were collected from children, parents, and teachers on the need for asthma education, the requirements for asthma education, and the expectations of parents and teachers for incorporating AR in asthma education. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, and the Scheffé test. Results: Asthmatic children and their peers, parents, and teachers all felt there was a significant need for education about asthma, with education on how to deal with an asthma attack being needed the most. The incorporation of AR programs in asthma education was viewed positively by both parents and teachers. Conclusion: An AR children's asthma education program should be developed in which children with asthma and their peers, parents, and teachers can participate together. Furthermore, it is expected that children with asthma will independently undertake more effective disease management after attending an AR asthma education program.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the essence of disabled parents' experiences of raising children. Method: Five families, which were composed with parents with physical disabilities and children, were participated into this study. One-time interview was conducted with mother of each family and it was recorded, coded, and analysed using method of Giorgi's phenomenological study. Result: Three superordinate themes, nine subordinate themes, and 22 concepts were derived. The essence of disabled parents' experiences of raising children was "disabled parents' growth with their children despite of prejudice." This represented that even though disabled parents faced with diverse kinds of difficulties, they put their heart and soul into raising their children and they encouraged their children to have their feet on the ground firmly. Finally, disabled parents went out into the world with their children. Conclusion: The current study illustrated how those stories about raising children could be interpreted from the perspective of the family relation, and suggested possible ways to support disabled parents for raising children.
This study examined the relationships of parental behavior control recognized by children and its effect on children's emotional intelligence and conflict resolution strategies in their peer friendships. Subjects were 521 $5^{th}$, $6^{th}$ grade elementary school Children in seoul. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, multiple regression and path analysis. Result showed that parents' control of children's behavior affected children's conflict resolution strategies in peer friendships and affected their emotional intelligence. Path analysis showed that control by parents, demand for maturity and clarity of communication directly affected compromising-integrating strategies. Parental control was affected directly by dominating strategies. Controlling behavior by demand of maturity, clarity of communication and nurture influenced compromising-integrating, avoidance and concession strategies of children's emotional intelligence.

Objectives:This study was conducted to investigate variables related to children's depression, and also the relationships between children's depression and parents' depression. Methods:258 5th and 6th grade elementary school students in Taegu, and their parents were asked to complete self-report questionnaires including the children's depression Inventory(CDI) and the Beck's depression Inventory(BDI). Correlation analysis, T-test, One-way ANOVA were used for the statistical analysis and the statistically significant level is p<0.05. Results:1) CDI mean for total children is $13.5{\pm}6.77$, BDI mean for their mother is $13.3{\pm}7.25$, and BDI mean for their father is $11.6{\pm}7.03$. 2) There are significant differences in CDI for children variables related to sex, health, school achievement, economic status. 3) Mother's health slightly affect children's depression, but there are no significant differences in CDI for parents' education, religion, father's health. 4) Children's school achievement and economic status among variables related to children affect mother's BDI scores and children's school achievement affect father's BDI scores. 5) For CDI item analysis, there are significant differences in 10 items for children's sex, in 8 items for health, and in 6 items for economic status. Especially, there are significant differences in 20 items among 27 items for children's school achievement. 6) There is significant correlation between parents' BDI scores and children's CDI scores, and especially high correlation to mother for both boys and girls. Conclusion:Children's depression are significantly affected by children's sex, health, school achievement, economic status. And especially school achievement affect grossly children's depression and their mother's depression, so we know that children and their mother have much burden about school achievement. There is high correlation between children's depression and parents'(especially mother) depression. Therefore, these result imply that in the therapy for children's depression, we must include not only children's problems but also parents' depression and parent-children relationship.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate obesity rate among mentally disabled children in six public schools in Korea. Furthermore, this study identified several factors that correlated with these children's obesity. The results of this study can help identify mentally disabled children who are at an increased risk for obesity and can be used to promote good health in this population. Methods: 1,102 subjectsfrom six public special schools were classified 4 groups who assessed for BMI for age-gender specific reference chart(1998) based on our previous data. Moreover, 207 parents were surveyed to identify predisposing factors for children's obesity, including characteristics of the children and parents, socioeconomic factors, children's eating habits, and children's exercise habits. Results: The prevalence of obesity among the 1,102 mentally disabled children was 17.3%. There was a statistically significant correlation between obesity and factors, such as age, maternal education, parents' perceptions about their child's obesity, frequency of breakfast, and exercise habits. Each of these factors was determined to have a statistically significant influence on obesity when all other factors were controlled in a multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression analysis. Conclusions: Parental perceptions had an especially strong impact on the weight of their mentally disabled child. This is presumably due to the great influence that parents have on the lifestyles of their children, including dietary habits and frequency of exercise. Furthermore, the rate of obesity was directly proportional to the age of the child. The results of this study strongly indicate the need for preemptive health education programs that stress weight management for mentally disabled elementary school students.
This study was conducted to determine parents' recognition of the Center for children's foodservice management (CCFSM) and to compare preschoolers' satisfaction for meals served by childcare centers and some aspects regarding the vegetable intake according to the parents' recognition of CCFSM. The subjects were 255 parents, whose children were 2~5 year old and attended a childcare center, were grouped according to the recognition of CCFSM (high recognition, HR, 27.5%; medium recognition, MR, 47.4%; low recognition, LR, 25.1%). Information was obtained by a self-administered questionnaire and data were analyzed by SPSS 25.0. Only 58.6% of HR and 10.7% of MR answered the they had participated education/event held by the CCFSM. More parents in the HR group (88.6%) acknowledged the helpfulness of CCFSM on the children's food habits compared to those in the MR group (63.6%) (P<0.001). Compared to the MR and LR groups, more parents in the HR group answered not only that they were 'satisfied'/'very satisfied' with the meals served by childcare centers (P<0.05), but also they tended to think that their children were also satisfied (P=0.061). Up to 31.2% of parents in the LR group answered that there was no need for education to increase the vegetable intake of their child compared to 14.3% and 17.4% in the HR and MR groups, respectively (P<0.05). Moreover, up to 26.6% of parents answered that school cook planned menus compared to 5.7% and 13.2% in the HR and MR group, respectively (P<0.001). In conclusion, the results provided the association between parents' high recognition of CCFSM and preschoolers' satisfaction for meals from childcare centers as well as a better chance for a desirable food life regarding vegetable intake.
This research examined the relation between emotional expression of parents and self-regulation in children. The subjects were 116 3rd and 6th grade Sunday school children and their parents in 13 churches in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. Data were analyzed by the sex, age and self-regulation of the children and emotional expressiveness of the parents using two-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. Results were that mothers showed higher levels of emotional expression than fathers. Positive emotional expression of fathers was related to the self-regulation of sons but not daughters. Positive emotional expression of mothers was related to the self-regulation of daughters but not sons.
In this comparison of the relative effects of children's separation from their parents, socio-emotional adjustment was assessed by emotional and behavioral problems and emotional intelligence. Subjects were 502 elementary school children separated from their parents(162 in Yanbian and 340 in Korea) and their caregivers. Data analysis was by frequency, t-test, and multiple regression controlled by gender and grade in school. Caregivers living with children and their parenting efficacy were significant variables for the development of socio-emotional adjustment in Korean-Chinese children in Yanbian, but reasons for parent-child separation, caregivers' psychological and behavioral characteristics, and SES were significant variables for children in Korea. Implications are that regional differences should be considered in understanding and supporting the development of children's socio-emotional adjustment.
Despite the declining birth rate and consequent lower children population in Korea in recent years, there has nevertheless been found to be a positive trend in relation to the purchase of toddler and children's wear. This has led toddler and children's wear to pursue sales and marketing strategies. There is especially a growing number of experiential marketing that provide an empirical element, which stimulate con- sumers' emotions, and also create a relationship with a brand. Therefore, this research aims to serve as practical data for the planning and implementation of experiential marketing strategies through the analysis of experiential marketing cases conducted by brands of toddler and children's wear. The study examines the status of the Korean toddler and children's fashion market between 2009 and 2018. The domestic brands of toddler and children's wear were analyzed with the application of Bernd H. Schmitt's five experiential modules. The analysis results first showed that of the five modules, 'feel' held the highest proportion, followed by 'think' and 'act', and lastly 'sense' and 'relate'. Second, the experiential marketing stimulated more than three of the five senses. Third, experiential marketing that provided educational experiences to children was conducted. Fourth, an experience was provided for parents and children to enjoy together. Finally, product promotion and purchase were naturally linked. The study's results have confirmed that toddler and children's wear brands implement experiential marketing strategies, which convey the emotional and cultural experiences shared by parents and children in various ways.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the changes in perception concerning nutrition labeling and students' availability of processed foods and is to investigate parents' awareness of nutrition labeling through the 'Education program on safety management of children's dietary life' conducting directly to the fifth grade elementary school students (4,105 persons) by the nutrition teacher in each school. The part that checked when purchasing processed food before and after the students' education, the name of manufacturer (p<0.05), raw material and content (p<0.001), food additives (p<0.001), nutritive components (p<0.05) etc. were significantly improved. An idea about nutrition labeling has increased after the education, the question items in 'it is reliable' (p<0.001), 'satisfied' (p<0.01) were significantly increased particularly. In spite of one time education, it showed positive changes such as it can be possible to get desired nutrition information. Thus, although it was one time training conducted in the situation that can not be carried out formal education due to school environment, a variety of practical education of children's dietary life is required targeting comprehensive senior students, the education is considered to be conducted for children as well as parents.
