The number of accidents in school zone is decreasing than before with the introduction of strengthening traffic safety policy since January 2011, but the danger still exists. The School zone sign is widely known to have much effect in protecting children from risks of traffic accidents, but design improvement is being demanded to improve a sense of safety and legibility of safety signs in School zone due to the lack of understanding on the safety signs in crosswalk and School zone. This study analyzed differences in shape and color of existing safety signs through a case analysis of traffic developed countries as America, England, Japan, and Germany and suggested improvement plans for drivers to clearly perceive the school zone. For improvement methods, this study suggested the importance of delivering definite and unified warning message for school zone to drivers by using indication sign and caution sign together, and to use yellow, a safety color, and to unify the safety sign into triangle shape that symbolizes warning and caution to conform the international standards. Actual design production and experiment through improvement plans are needed in the future, and it is expected to secure safety of children and to provide international standardization of safety signs in school zone.

Children are out future society members but they are not well cared to be safe from various accidents. This is due to facilities were installed upon the children's for adults which can not provide safe traffic environment for children's schooling who are not fare enough experience and matured. "The Rule of declaim for school zone and it's Management"was established in the year 1995 based on the article 11 by the "Road Traffic Low". And 15,136 school zone declared by the above rule. In this study, four elementary schools located in Nowon-gu are selected and analyzed about state of elementary school, scope of school zone, installation of street furniture, and safety signs. The analysis showed that scope of school zone is currently set in 150-meter though the regulation is within 300-meter radius. Therefore, expansion of the scope is required. It is necessary to take control of vehicle during commuting times and holograms which can be noticed in school zone have to be installed as well. Through these improvements, safety zone will be offered to children effectually.

The total number of deaths by traffic accidents is decreasing every year in our country. However, in 2009, children died in traffic accidents at a rate of 2.3 deaths per 100,000 children, which was higher than the average of OECD countries (1.9 deaths per 100,000 children). In particular, traffic accidents are showing rapid increase in school zone during the past 2 years because of problems in the designation and management of school zone. Traffic safety facilities such as road sign, reflector mirror, speed bump have the ultimate limit of vehicle accidents prevention. Thus, in school zone, children safety is still not guaranteed due to illegal parking and the absence of driver's awareness of safety. Therefore, In order to protect children from traffic accidents within school zones, we have realized a safe school zone system, which enables the drivers to better know the intended school zones and creates pedestrian environment through unmanned monitoring camera, using LabVIEW.

PURPOSES: This study aims to analyze the impact of the implementation of a school zone traffic safety improvement project on the number of accidents involving children in these zones. METHODS : To analyze the correlation between school zone traffic safety features of roads in the zone and the number of accidents involving children, we developed an occurrence probability model of traffic accidents involving children by using a binary logistic regression model with SPSS 23.0 software. Two separate models were developed for two zones: interior block and arterial road. RESULTS :The model depicted that in the case of the interior block, shorter sidewalk width, speed bump, and an elevated crosswalk were key factors affecting the occurrence of accidents involving children. In the case of arterial roads exceeding a width of 12 m, the speed limit, roadside barriers, and red paving of road surfaces were found to be the key factors. CONCLUSIONS:The results of this study can serve as the elementary research data to help improve the effectiveness of school zone traffic safety improvement projects and school zone road repair projects in future.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a scheme to provide children safer and more comfortable walking circumstances by survey current walking circumstances of school zone ways. First, to avoid pedestrian roads being interrupted and to expand waiting space near school zone ways, several measures are needed including fixing roads, using schools' unemployed spaces and building additional gateway. Second, pedestrian crossings in front of school gate should be located at least 23.16m away from the left side of the gate. Third, on narrow path which cross main streets, the interval of pedestrian signal should be extended as against of the moment. And traffic calming facilities should be built on accurate position. Fourth, to secure pedestrians' safety and field of view, trees lining streets and any obstacles located within 10m from bus stop sign should be removed. Finally, education system about school zone ways should be improved to help children get used to more complicated roads' conditions.

Efforts are being made to prevent traffic accidents within the child protection zone. Efforts are being made to prevent accidents by enacting safety facilities and laws to prevent traffic accidents in the school zone. However, traffic accidents in school zones continue to occur. If the driver can know the situation in the child protection zone in advance, accidents can be reduced. In this paper, we design a camera that eliminates blind spots in school zones and a number recognition camera system that can collect pre-traffic information. Design a LIDAR system that recognizes vehicle speed and pedestrians. Design an LED guidance system that delivers information to drivers without smart devices. We study time series analysis and artificial intelligence algorithms that collect and process pedestrian and vehicle information recognized by cameras and LIDAR. In the artificial intelligence traffic accident prevention system learned by deep learning, before entering the school zone, the school zone information is sent to the driver through the Force Push Service and the school zone information is delivered to the driver on the LED sign. try to reduce accidents.

Recently, China & Japan have expanded their responding ADIZ(Air Defence Identification Zone) to implement each Government's maritime policy and to project their Air Power in preparation for maritime provocation & contingency, especially over the piled area where East Asia countries have claimed to have maritime jurisdiction one another. So this is to guide the Development Option for Korea Air Defence Identification Zone to cope with the maritime intentions of the neighboring countries, considering the international law for ADIZ, the maritime policy and the maritime sovereign & jurisdiction area of the Republic of Korea, etc.

In recent years, there have been a number of concerns and measures surrounding 'Traffic Safety' for children. But, actually, safety measurements of 'School Zone' lack. This research thesis was designed to quantify risk degrees of 'School Zone', in a simple way, with the development of evaluation indicators to evaluate risk degrees of 'School Zone'. This is deems to be used for a guideline necessary for devising improvements or safety measures against 'School Zone' in the future. And, this is expected to be useful for managing and controlling safety each local facility about elementary schools.

In 2019, a child died by a school zone traffic accident in Asan, Chungcheongnam-do, the Republic of Korea. Just after the accident, under the name of the "Minsik Law", the Road Traffic Act and the Specific Crime Aggravated Punishment Act were partially revised and went into effect in Korea on March 25, 2020. The new Korean law providing for harsh penalties is designed to reduce automobile accidents in school zones. However, the penalties under the new law seems to be unconstitutionally and unduly harsh. Under the new law, a negligent driver who kills a child at a school zone could be sentenced to indefinite imprisonment, or imprisonment for 3 years or more. The criminal responsibility of a negligent driver at a school zone is the same as serious intentional felonies such as rape, robbery, abandonment resulting in death. Also, even in the case of a school zone accident, if an accident driver complies with the speed limit and other traffic laws and it is impossible to avoid the accident, the driver should not be punished. So, in order to meet the principle of proportionality, the new Korean law should be revised again. In order to find out the appropriate level and punishment method for drivers who cause accidents in school zones, this thesis will compare and analyze the laws of Korea with those of the United States, Germany, and Japan. This paper also reviews the decision of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea in February 2023 that the "Minsik Law" was constitutional. Based on these analyses, this thesis seeks the direction and amendments to properly revise Korean law. In addition, this thesis is intended to present exemplary measures to improve the school zone safety.

In this paper, we propose iZone system for safe walking of children. The proposed system recognizes the state that a child is down a roadway as a dangerous situation. And then it informs the surrounding adults and guardians of the child in the event of a dangerous situation. The iZone system consists of the iZone device that attaches to a child's bag or clothing, the iZone app for children, the iZone server, and external beacons. The proposed system uses the ultrasonic sensor of the iZone device and the GPS coordinates and external beacons information by the children's smartphone to determine the dangerous situation. The proposed system uses external beacons to calibrate the GPS coordinates. Moreover, it determines whether the child is down the roadway in sidewalk by measuring the height difference between the roadway and the sidewalk using ultrasonic sensor.
