The Effects of an After-School Cooking Program on the Eating Habits and Sociality of Children (방과후학교 요리교실이 아동의 식습관과 사회성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an after-school cooking program on the eating habits and sociality of children. Thirty five children from the 3rd to the 6th grade of G Elementary School participated in this program comprising 12 periods of cooking activities, from May to August 2013. The content of the after-school cooking program included japchae, topokki, jajangmyeon, oi sobagi, cake, snack wrap, vegetable fried rice, sticky noodle, sushi, pizza, rice muffin, and sandwiches. Before and after learning, the participants' eating habits and sociality were investigated. The study analyzed the mean, standard deviation, and Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test results for a comparison between the pre- and post-test results. On the basis of the research findings and discussions, the study reached the following conclusions. First, the after-school cooking program was analyzed as being helpful and useful in categorizing the eating habits of children as sanitary dietary life, well-mannered dietary life, and healthy dietary life. Further, more girls than boys fostered effective eating habits. Second, the after-school cooking program was analyzed as being helpful and useful in determining sociality and more girls than boys fostered effective sociality. Third, cooking is an appropriate topic for the after-school program of Korean elementary schools, and the cooking program has expanded in G Elementary School after the abovementioned experiment.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediated effects of school life and gender differences in the effect of youth activities on sociality. The research method was analyzed as SPSS V. 22.0 for 403 teenagers based in Gyeonggi-do. The status of participation in youth activities was 58.8% in physical activity, 21.1% in emotional activity, and 20.1% in service activity, and the results of verifying research problems are as follows. First, gender-based youth activity showed that men were higher in physical activity than women. Emotional and service activity showed women higher than men. Sociality was higher in men than women. Second, the effect of youth activities on sociality was shown to have positive effects in order of emotional, physical and service activities. Third, the mediating effect of school life in relation to youth activities and sociality was shown to be significant, with partial mediating influence in order of emotional activity, physical activity and service activity.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of group art therapy on the self-efficacy and sociality of middle school students from single-parent families. The major results of this study were as follows: First, it was revealed that the activities of group art therapy were effective in making the self-efficacy of students from single-parent families higher by expressing their thought, and feelings better and having more confidence in themselves. Second, it was revealed that the activities of group art therapy were effective in improving the sociality of students from single-parent families by showing better performance in relationship with peers. Third, it was revealed that the activities of group art therapy had an effect on students' affirmative feelings according to each stage. That is, the students' feelings became more affirmative after this art therapy activities. Fourth, this study proved that K-HTP was effective in improving the self-efficacy and sociality of middle school students from single-parent families Fifth, this study proved that KFD was effective to improve the self-efficacy and sociality of middle school students from single-parent families. In conclusion, the Group Art Therapy had the effect on improving the self-efficacy and sociality of students from single-parent families.

Influence of Female Undergraduates upon Sociality and College Life Satisfaction (여대생의 사회성과 대학생활 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand about the influence of female undergraduates health behavior and health state upon sociality and the influence of sociality upon college life satisfaction. The subjects were 335 female junior-college students with major related to public health in Busan, Daegu, and Gyeongnam and were carried out questionnaire survey on general characteristics, sociality, college life satisfaction, health behavior, health status, and internet addiction. An analytical method was made through chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, ANOVA for trend, and structural equation modeling(SEM). As a result, the influence of accountability had the greatest influence as sub-factor. Accountability and age had a positive correlation(p<0.001). Accountability was low when self-cognitive body shape was very thin(p=0.005). In sociality, full age(p<0.001), self rated health(p<0.001), and physical education instruction for the 3rd grade of high school(p=0.004) showed direct effect. Also, sociality showed direct influence upon college life satisfaction. The older age, the higher self rated health, and the more instruction for the 3rd grade of high school led to the higher sociality, thereby having been indicated to be higher in college life satisfaction. Accordingly, a multi-dimensional effort is judged to be necessary for reinforcing physical education activity for high school students and for improving their quality of life as a plan for increasing college life satisfaction.

Effects of Reality Therapy Group Program on Leadership Life Skills, Sociality, and Classroom Unity of Elementary School children (현실요법 집단상담 프로그램이 초등학생의 리더십 생활기술, 사회성, 학급 응집력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to discover the effects of Reality Therapy group program on leadership life skills, sociality, and classroom unity of elementary school children. The objects of this research are the 34 elementary school children at the K elementary school in the S area of Kyunggi-do, and randomly divided into two groups. Scientific methods are employed to test a Reality Therapy group program as a treatment for elementary school children to increase their level of leadership life skills, sociality, and classroom unity. For this study, one experimental group and one control group, composed of 34 students in total, are organized and treatment is conducted on these groups. The SPSS 12.0 statstics program is employed to analyze the questionnaires of both-test. Mann-Whitney U and Multiple Linear Regression test are used to analyze the result in order to verify the differences between experienced group and controlled group of pre-test scores within the groups. First, the statistics show a difference in leadership life skills factors(p<.001) between the experimental group and the control group. The Reality Therapy group program is a significant predictor of the leadership life skills. These statistics prove that experimental group has higher leadership life skills than the other group. Second, the statistics show a difference in sociality factors(p<.01) between the experimental group and the control group. The Reality Therapy group program is a significant predictor of the sociality. These statistics prove that experimental group have higher positive sociality than the other group. Third, the statistics show a difference in classroom unity factors(p<.001) between the experimental group and the control group. The Reality Therapy group program is a significant predictor of the classroom unity. These statistics prove that experimental group have higher positive classroom unity than the other group.

Media, Sociality, and Aging Process A Study of Aging Process through New Media in Select Areas of Kolkata

  • This paper seeks to interrogate the very assumption of "sociality" in social media at a conceptual level and substantiate it with the help of information collected on aged people's use of conventional media $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ so called "social media" from the field work. Although global literature has written the obituary of mass media and promoted the "sociality" of social media, one needs to critically engage with such statement. Such statements have been an outcome of the established status of the "post broadcast" model of media where conventional media is in existence for some time and accessible to everyone in society. Further, this paper seeks to explore the interplay of new media in the life of the aged population in select areas of Kolkata city in the state of West Bengal, India. There are few studies on the ageing population's use of new media in the Indian context. While many of the studies reveal the new media literacy among the youth, this is unimportant as both the new media and the youth are relatively young as a field of research in media studies in India. What is missed in the earlier studies is, how new media plays an important function in the life of the aged population. How do older adults engage with the skilling and deskilling process of media literacy in their everyday life? And finally, do new media provide an extension to their on-going social relations? With the help of substantive details, the present study addresses the aforementioned queries.

Effect of Smart-phone Addiction on Youth's Sociality Development (청소년의 스마트폰 중독이 사회성 발달에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined effects of smart-phone addiction on the youth's sociality development empirically by questionnaire survey. To conduct this study, 339 high school students participated in the survey. The major findings of the study were as follows; Smart-phone addiction had a significant influence on sociality development in negative way. Specifically, sub-domain of smart-phone addiction(disturbance of adaptive, virtual life orientation, tolerance) affect on sociality development in negative. Interesting, Smart-phone using time affect on sociality development in positive. The implications of these results for research, practice and future directions were also discussed.

  • Adolescents motivation and ability to participate in leisure activities were investigated in this study. Relevant variables were also explored. The participants were middle and high school students.'rho data were collected by using a survey questionnaire. Seven hundred and forty one cases were used for data analysis. Major findings were as follows: 1 Adolescents 'motivation to participate in leisure activities was classified into four subcategories: self-development','sociality training', 'relaxation', and 'fun'. 1. The 'relaxation motivation' was the highest among the adolescents, and' sociality training motivation 'was lowest. High school students had relatively stronger motivation than middle school students. B. Adolescents 'ability to perform leisure activities consisted of 'control' 'enjoyment', and 'self-confidence'. 4. Male students had a higher leisure activity performance ability than female students. The score for' enjoyment ability 'was the highest, followed by 'self-confidence', and then 'control ability' 5. Major variables that influenced the leisure performance ability were gender, leisure attitudes, self-development motivation, sociality training motivation, and relaxation motivation.

  • A survey on effects of the participation style of martial art classes in students majoring in guard on both their major satisfaction and adapt to school lie was performed for 285 male and female students. The survey was carried out using a questionnaire on the participation style of martial art classes, degree of major satisfaction, and adapt to school life. Based on the survey, a correlation analysis was implemented to investigate effects of the martial art class participation styles on both major satisfaction and adapt to school life. Then, a multiple regression analysis was also performed. As a result, the sub-elements of the martial art class participation styles, such as the cooperative and participation styles, significantly affect the general satisfaction, class satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, and cognitive satisfaction in the major satisfaction. In the martial art class participation styles, the sub-elements, such as the cooperative, competitive, and participation styles, significantly affect the class, sociality, and adapt to school environments in adapt to school life. The sub-element of the major satisfaction, such as the general satisfaction, significantly affects the adaptations in class, sociality, and school environments in adapt to school life.

  • The basal ganglia network has been implicated in the control of adaptive behavior, possibly by integrating motor learning and motivational processes. Both positive and negative reinforcement appear to shape our behavioral adaptation by modulating the function of the basal ganglia. Here, we examined a transgenic mouse line (G2CT) in which synaptic transmissions onto the medium spiny neurons (MSNs) of the basal ganglia are depressed. We found that the level of collaterals from direct pathway MSNs in the external segment of the globus pallidus (GPe) ('bridging collaterals') was decreased in these mice, and this was accompanied by behavioral inhibition under stress. Furthermore, additional manipulations that could further decrease or restore the level of the bridging collaterals resulted in an increase in behavioral inhibition or active behavior in the G2CT mice, respectively. Collectively, our data indicate that the striatum of the basal ganglia network integrates negative emotions and controls appropriate coping responses in which the bridging collateral connections in the GPe play a critical regulatory role.
