  • Recently, Fractal Image Coding has been studied as a way of efficient data compressing scheme. In the beginning, Fractal Image Coding has been studied for the data compressing in black & white images and linear images. A. E. Jacquin suggested LIFS which expends to Fractal Image Coding for a gray scale image. Currently, YTKT's LIFS scheme which is using Gram-Schmidt is so efficient that enough to compete with the JPEG which is the national standards. This paper investigates the way of greatly reduced calculation for the orthogonalization algorithm.

Developement of Scope for Military Rangefinder Using Schmidt Prism and Biprism Theory of Optometric Instrument (안광학기기에 사용되는 바이프리즘원리와 슈미트 프리즘을 이용한 군사 거리측정기용 스코프 개발)

  • Purpose: The new-type rangefinder, which is using the biprism principle, is introduced to develop the range finder which can be easily carried by soldiers, and in order to realize those technologies specifically, we try to develop a scope for military rangefinder by doing optical design which can secure enough space to move the biprism. Methods: After setting up the verious initial condition to realize two kinds of goals, that are the securement of enough space to move the biprism and the easy-exchangeability of two kinds of biprisms, and then the optical system was optimized by using optical design program CodeV in order to minimize the finite ray aberrations. Results: We designed the biprism housing to makes it possible to swap the two kinds of biprisms. It was appeared that the Schmidt prism is suitable as erecting prism which can make sure the space to move the biprism. 16.5 mm was good for the face length of Schmidt prism. The optical system with a Schmidt prism and a biprism was designed, and the finite ray aberrations was minimized. Conclusions: We developed a 5X scope for an optical rangefinder using a biprism and a Schmidt prism with 16.5 mm face length. This scope is valid for the optical system which has the effective field angle of ${\pm}3.6^{\circ}$, and the finite ray aberrations are well controlled within the ${\pm}8.95^{\prime}$.

  • As an indirect method, Schmidt hammer test has been employed to investigate correlation between uniaxial compressive strengths and blow values. To conduct the experiment, researchers have examined 11 types (1,417 blocks) of rock, which include igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks in Korea. Every kind of rocks shows different blow behaviors in which correlations of rocks have been analyzed, thus leading to results in new formulas for strength predictions. Cross-check for reliability demonstrates high confidence. Newly proposed test method is highly valued for future research on Korean rocks.

  • In this paper, we consider a multiple watermarking for image copyright protection. Multiple watermarking can be defined that two or more watermarks are inserted into the same content. Multiple watermarking using spread spectrum technique is able to extract the correct watermarks from the watermarked content when the orthogonality among keys should be guaranteed only. To keep the orthogonal property between keys, we perform the process of Gram-Schmidt on the random sequences. The orthogonalized sequences are used as keys to embed the watermarks. The proposed method can not only extract correctly the embedded watermarks but also show the robustness against various attacks such as Gaussian noise addition, histogram equalization, gamma correlation, sharpening and brightness/contrast adjustment.

Effect of Schmidt Number on Cohesive and Non-cohesive Sediment Suspension Modeling (점착성, 비점착성 부유사 모형에 대한 Schmidt 수의 영향)

  • This study aims to investigating the effect of Schmidt number (${\sigma}_c$) on sediment suspension and hydrodynamics calculation. The range of ${\sigma}_c$ is also studied based on the flux Richardson number ($Ri_f$) and gradient Richardson number ($Ri_g$). Numerical experiments are carried out by 1 dimensional vertical model. Both cohesive and non-cohesive sediments are tested under the conditions of pure current and oscillatory flow. The turbulence damping effect due to sediment suspension is examined considering ${\sigma}_c$ as a constant for the damping effect. The results of this study show the consistent effect of ${\sigma}_c$ on sediment suspension regardless of hydrodynamic condition. It is also found that the model overestimates the flow velocity and turbulent kinetic energy when the damping effect is not considered. Under the conditions of $Ri_f$ and $Ri_g$ causing density stratification, it is known that the vertical mixing of sediment is reasonably calculated in the range of ${\sigma}_c$ from 0.3 to 0.5.

Influence of Material Factors on Estimation of Compressive Strength of Concrete by P Type Schmidt Rammer (P형 슈미트해머에 의한 콘크리트의 압축강도 추정에 미치는 재료요인의 영향)

  • The present paper is intended to investigate the influence of materials such as cement, mineral admixture and aggregate, on the estimation of compressive strength by P type schmidt hammer. According to the results, the materials of concrete, such as the types of cement, the replacing ratio of mineral admixture, the kinds and maximum size of aggregate, hardly influence on non-destructive test by P type schmidt hammer except for alumina cement, hence, P type schmidt can be applicable to most of the concrete with a wide range. Since the correlativity between the rebound value of P type schmidt hammer and compressive strength is very favorable(above coefficient of correlation 0.96) regardless of materials, it is considered that compressive strength can be estimated comparatively exactly by P type schmidt hammer. The estimating formula of compressive strength by rebound value are derived from this experiment as following. $\cdot$Horizontal strike : Fc = 0.765RH - 5.74 (R=0.965) $\cdot$ Vertical strike Fc = 0.793RV - 8.66 (R=0.959)

  • 다중 워터마킹은 하나의 컨텐츠에 2개 이상의 다른 워터마크를 삽입하는 것으로 각 워터마크는 유일한 키로 정확하게 추출할 수 있어야 한다. 대역확산법(spread spectrum)을 이용한 다중 워터마킹은 삽입되는 워터마크간의 직교성(orthogonality)이 제공되어야 삽입된 워터마크들의 정확한 추출이 가능하다. 랜덤계열과 Hadamard 계열을 이용한 기존의 방법은 직교성이 보장되지 않기 때문에 워터마크가 정확히 추출되지 않은 문제가 발생한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 랜덤계열들을 Gram-schmidt 직교화 과정을 이용하여 직교화시킨 후, 직교화 된 랜덤계열로 워터마크를 삽입하여 정확한 추출이 가능한 방법을 제안하였다.

  • 유수동역학적인 요소와 유사의 부유는 서로 상호작용을 주고받으며 다양한 현상을 만들어낸다. 많은 선행연구를 통해 유사 농도 등의 특성이 난류 구조 등의 변화를 야기하며, 변화한 난류 구조 역시 유사의 부유 등에 2차적인 영향을 준다는 점이 확인되었다. 본 연구에서는 가는 유사에 보다 집중하여 유사 부유와 이에 따른 연직구조 특성의 변화를 살펴본다. 본 연구에서는 1차원 연직 모형을 이용하여 수치실험을 수행한다. 본 연구에 이용된 모형은 가는 유사의 특성인 빠른 입자 반응 시간(Particle Response Time)이 가정되는 모형으로 선행연구를 통해 적용성이 검증된 것으로 판단한다. 주요 분석대상은 유사의 농도와 속도경사 간의 관계 등이며, 분석하는 유사 농도 종류는 일반적인 비점착성 유사의 경우에 관심을 가지는 질량 농도에 집중하여 결정된다. 수치실험 수행을 위해서는 정류 흐름, 진동파 흐름 등이 적용되었고 다양한 경우의 가는 유사를 고려하기 위한 실험조건의 변경이 이루어졌다. 수치실험 결과 진동파의 다양한 위상에서 조금씩 달라지는 연직구조가 확인되었다. 이는 보정되는 Schmidt 수의 값과도 연관관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 가는 유사의 경우에도 입자의 크기에 따라 다른 연직구조의 특성이 모의되었으며 이를 통해 수치실험의 경우에도 입자 크기의 고려 하에 매개변수의 보정이 이루어져야 한다는 점을 알 수 있다. 스토크스 수는 입자 반응 시간과 유체 난류 시간규모(Fluid Turbulence Ttime Scale)의 비율을 의미한다. 본 연구를 통해 스토크스 수가 유사의 확산강도 결정과 큰 상관 관계를 가지는 것을 알 수 있다. 이때 유사의 크기와 보정되는 Schmidt 수의 값은 고정되었다. 수치 계산시에 확산계수의 값이 부유 및 이에 따른 연직구조의 특성을 결정하는 중요한 변수라는 점을 고려할 때, 가는 유사의 부유를 모의할 때에는 세심한 주의가 요구된다는 점을 이해할 수 있다. 선행 연구사례를 통해 볼 때 부유하는 입자의 관성력이 Schmidt 수의 결정과 이에 따른 연직 구조의 계산에 큰 영향을 준다는 점을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 스토크스 수를 관성력을 나타낼 수 있는 지표로서 계산하였지만 보다 정량적이고 효율적인 입자 관성력 지표가 제시될 때 효율적인 연구결과의 제시가 이루어질 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • In this paper, we design on nonliner 3 user Dirty Paper Precoding for MIMO adjacant interference signal cancellation based on 3 GPP LTE Release 10. In this paper, in order to reduce the inter-channel interference at the transmitted side, we propose the Dirty Paper Precoding scheme for 3-user MIMO wireless systems using LQ decomposition and Gram-Schmidt algorithm based in its orthonormal basis.

A Study Using Rebound Method and Impact Echo Method for the Comparison of the Compressive Strength of Concrete Slab (반발 경도법 및 충격반향기법을 이용한 콘크리트 슬래브의 압축강도 비교에 관한 연구)

  • As infrastructures are being deteriorated, nondestructive evaluation of existing structures and construction quality control are increasingly demanded. The importance of predicting compressive strength of concrete structure is also gradually increasing in construction industry. The estimation of concrete compressive strength is a critical factor of the construction management and quality control. This study has been conducted using Schmidt hammer test and Impact echo method, which are nondestructive test methods for the comparison of the concrete compressive strength. It is focusing to examine the relationship between compressive strength of concrete and rebound number by Schmidt hammer test result by Impact echo method. It was found that concrete compressive strength and rebound number have a close correlation.
