  • An analysis method of electromagnetic scattering from periodic patch array of double-dipole elements on a grounded dielectric substrate in case of oblique incident and arbitrary polarization is considered. The basis functions are chosen to be entire consinusoidal functions are chosen to be entire consinusoidal functions covering the rectangular shaped domain in which the original dipoles are inscribed, unlike the conventional method in which basis functions are defined only for the conducting element region. To confirm the validity of the proposed analysis method, we calculate the normalized scattered power for two propagating modes and compare the results with those obtained by the previous numerical method for the double dipole elements of rectangular type and parallelogram type which have the property of frequency scanned reflection and polarizer. Good correspondence has been observed between them. Some numerical results such as variation of power and axial ratio of first-order diffracted wave by a periodic array of double-dipole elements are compared with previous results.

  • In this paper, new algorithm which calculates transmission coefficient of electromagnetic wave by numerical analysis of scattered field by conductors with arbitrary cross-sections in parallel-plate waveguide is proposed. Proposed algorithm assumes magnetic current distribution on the boundary of scattering conductors, and applies Image theorem to perfect conductor surfaces of parallel-plate waveguide. Integral equations for fictitious magnetic currents on conducting boundary are set up. Magnetic current distributions on conducting boundary are expanded as exponential basis function, and using Galerkin method matrix equations are set wp. To compute matrix elements this method utilizes Fourier transform which is faster than numerical integration. Finally, frequency and incidence-angle characteristic of transmission coefficient are calculated and compared with experimental results.

  • This paper deals with a fundamental and classical scattering problem by a finite strip. For the analysis of scattered acoustic field, a “single” integral equation is derived. Firstly, the complexity by considering the effect of the mean flow is alleviated by the introduction of Prandtl-Glauert coordinate and the new dependent variable. Secondly, the difficulty of solving the resultant strongly-coupled integral equations which always appear in this kind of 3-part mixed boundary value problem is solved by observing some good properties of the functions in complex domain and manipulating the equations and variables for the use of those properties. The solution can be obtained asymptotically in terms of gamma function and Whittaker function. One aim of this study is the improvement of methodology for the research using integral equations. The other is the basic understanding of scattering by a finite strip related to the linear cascade model of rotating fan blades.

  • The anisotropic Raman scattering properties of oriented syndiotactic poly propylene have been investigated using FT-Raman spectrometer in which the fluore scent problem of polymer samples can be removed. To assign the observed Raman bands to their respective symmetry species, the anisotropic scattering results for four different combinations of incident and scattered polarization were compared with those predicted by normal coordinate analysis and infrared dichroism measurement data.

  • The scattering characteristics of a prime-focus offset-parabolic antenna are analyzed using UTD. First, ray tracing method is used to locate the shadow boundaries, and then UTD is utilized to evalute the far-zone scattered magnetic field pattern. The field components included in the UTD analysis are the reflected, edge diffracted and creeping waves. The effects of circular caps attached to both edges of a prime-focus offset-parabolic antenna are investigated by comparing the scattered magnetic field patterns with those of a knife edge parabolic reflector.

  • For GPR(Ground Penetrating Radar) applications, an accurate analysis of the scattered field is necessary to identify the unknown target. Dyadic Green's function of the multilayered medium is developed and applied to analysis of the underground conducting object. We used method of moment(MOM) with dyadic Green's function, and Discrete Complex Image Method(DCIM). To reduce the computational complexity, fast multipole method is introduced and we showed the accuracy of the method comparing with the conventional method of moment. For investigating the underground conducting target, several numerical experiments were accomplished using this method.
