STL 메쉬를 이용한 자유곡면의 레이저 측정경로 생성 연구 (STL mesh based laser scan planning system for complex freeform surfaces)

  • Laser scanners are getting used more and more in reverse engineering and inspection. For CNC-driven laser scanners, it is important to automate the scanning operations to improve the accuracy of capture point data and to reduce scanning time in industry. However, there are few research works on laser scan planning system. In addition, it is difficult to directly analyze multi-patched freeform models. In this paper, we propose an STL (Stereolithography) mesh based laser scan planning system for complex freeform surfaces. The scan planning system consists of three steps and it is assumed that the CAD model of the part exists. Firstly, the surface model is approximated into STL meshes. From the mesh model, normal vector of each node point is estimated. Second, scan directions and regions are determined through the region growing method. Also, scan paths are generated by calculating the minimum-bounding rectangle of points that can be scanned in each scan direction. Finally, the generated scan directions and paths are validated by checking optical constraints and the collision between the laser probe and the part to be scanned.

전산화단층촬영 주사시간(Scan Time)이 폐종양운동의 재현성에 미치는 영향 분석 (Impact of the Planning CT Scan Time on the Reflection of the Lung Tumor Motion)

  • 목적 : 방사선치료계획용 전산화단층활영(computerized tomography, 이하 CT) 시 주사시간이 종양부피의 재현성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 인공호흡기의 환기작용에 의해 세로방향의 왕복 운동을 하는 N자형 모형을 제작하였고, 호흡주기를 T로 하였을 때 주사시간을 상대적으로 각각 0.33, 0.50, 0.67, 0.75, 1.00, 1.33, 그리고 1.53 T로 설정하고 CT촬영을 시행하였다. 또한 2002년 3월 19일부터 2002년 5월 21일까지 서울아산병원 방사선종양학과에서 정위방사선수술(stereotactic radiosurgery)을 시행받은 비소세포성 폐암 환자 3명을 대상으로, 주사시간이 빠른 CT (LightSpeed, GE Medical Systems, 주사시간 0.8초)와 느린 CT (IQ Premier, Picker, 주사시간 2.0초)를 각각 $1\~4$회 시행하였다. 각각의 slice에서, N자형 모형의 왕복 운동이 CT 영상에 반영된 좌우방향 선분의 길이를 측정하여 치료계획용 CT 촬영이 모형의 움직임을 반영하는 정도를 측정하였다. 환자를 대상으로 한 연구에서는 정위적 체부 고정틀을 이용하여, 빠른 CT 및 느린 CT의 종양을 하나의 CT 영상조합에서 재구성하여 종양의 체적과 장경을 측정하여 비교하였다. 결과 : 모형실험에서 주사시간에 비례하여, 세로방향 운동을 CT 촬영에서 반영하는 정도는 증가하였으며 1.00 T 이상에서는 일정한 양상을 보였다 주사시간 1.00 T 이상에서 얻어진 결과를 기준으로, 1.00 T 미만의 주사시간을 가지는 CT촬영에서 모형운동을 반영하지 못하는 비율이 각각 $0.33\;T:\;30\%,\;0.50\;T:\;27\%,\;0.67\;T:\;20\%,\;0.75\;T:\;7.0\%$로 측정되었다. 또한 투시검사로 측정한 종양의 세로 방향 움직임이 각각 3 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm이었던 각각의 환자에서 느린 CT에서 얻어진 종양의 세로방향 장경이 빠른 CT에 비해 $5.3\%\;17\%,\;23\%$ 증가하였다. 결론 : 주사시간을 환자의 호흡주기 이상으로 하는 경우 setup margin만을 고려하여 계획용표적체적(planning target volume, PTV)을 정의할 수 있으므로 정상 폐조직에 조사되는 방사선량을 줄여 치료효율을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

라인스캔 카메라 형 광학검사기틀 위한 경로계획 방법 (A Path Planning Method for Automatic Optical Inspection Machines with Line Scan Camera)

  • We propose a path planning method to decrease a inspection lead time of line scan camera in SMT(surface mount technology) in-line system. The inspection window area of printed circuit board should be minimized to consider the FOV(field of view) of line scan camera so that line scan inspector is going to find a optimal solution of path planning. We propose one of the hierarchical clustrering algorithm for a given board. Comparative simulation results are presented to verify the usefulness of proposed method.

각각의 방사선수술 치료계획시스템에 따른 동일 병변의 체적 차이 비교 (Differences in Target Volume Delineation Using Typical Radiosurgery Planning System)

  • 방사선수술 치료계획 시 목표체적 윤곽 그리기 과정에서 발생하는 오차를 확인 하기 위하여 작은 목표체적을 고르게 분포시킨 두 경부 팬텀을 제작하였으며, 동일한 팬텀을 사용하여 CT영상 및 MR영상을 획득하고 이를 대표적인 3개의 방사선수술 치료계획시스템에서 작은 목표체적에 대하여 윤곽 그리기 한 후 체적을 측정하여 비교 분석하였다. CT로부터 획득한 이미지를 이용하여 BrainSCAN (노발리스)에서 윤곽 그리기를 하여 체적을 측정한 경우, 체적 평균값은 $2.23{\pm}0.08cm^3$이며, Leksell gamma plan (감마 나이프)은 $2.13{\pm}0.07cm^3$, Multi plan (사이버 나이프)에서 측정한 값은 $2.24{\pm}0.10cm^3$이였다. 또한 MRI로부터 획득한 이미지를 이용하여 BrainSCAN에서 윤곽 그리기를 하여 체적을 측정한 경우, 체적크기의 평균값은 $2.08{\pm}0.06cm^3$이며, Leksell gamma plan은 $1.94{\pm}0.05cm^3$이고 Multi plan에서 측정한 값은 $2.15{\pm}0.06cm^3$이었다. 각 방사선치료계획 시스템에서 CT영상과 MR영상으로부터 측정한 목표체적의 차이는 CT에서 획득한 이미지를 측정한 체적이 MRI보다 평균적으로 6.4% 정도 크게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 동일한 영상획득 장비에서 획득한 이미지를 3개의 서로 다른 방사선치료시스템에서 측정한 결과의 차이는 3~6%이었다. 이 결과는 영상을 획득하는 방식과 윤곽을 그릴 때 생기는 오차를 고려하였을 때 임상적으로 수용할 수 있는 범위 내에 들어간다고 판단이 된다.

암환자 700예의 진단 및 치료 CT 이용율과 CT 확대장치 (The Availability of Diagnostic and Treatment Planning Computer in 700 Cancer Patients and Magnification Devices for CT)

  • It has been evident since 1972 that computed tomography(CT) can play an important role in treatment and managment of the cancer patients as four steps; diagnosis, satging Treatment and follow-up. In this paper, we intended to investigate the availability of CT scan and treatment planning computer in 700 cancer patients who have undergone radiation therapy at the division of radiation therapy, Kangnam St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic Medical College between Mar. 1983 and Dec. 1985. The result were as follow; 1. Of 700 irradiated cancer patients, 342 patients ($48.9\%$) were performed CT scan prior to radiation therapy. 2. The distribution of lesions in 342 patients having CT scans was like this; CNS (83 of 104 patients, $79.8\%$), abdomen (44 of 76 patients, $57.9\%$), pelvis (100 of 188 patients, $53.2\%$) etc. in order. 3. The treatment planning computer were used in 280 cancer patients ($40\%$). 4. Of the 280 cancer patients using treatment planning computer, 167 patients ($59.6\%$) applied diagnostic CT scan and remaining 113 patients ($40.4\%$) were made body contour to be used for radiation therapy planning by the treatment planning computer. Authors also made some magnification devices used for small multiformat CT images to magnify into life size, consisting of overhead projector (3M) I.V. stand and mirror. These enabled us to make less errors in tracing the small-sized CT images during input of the anatomical data into the treatment planning computer.

두경부악성종양(頭頸部惡性腫瘍)의 방사선치료계획(放射線治療計劃)에 있어서 전산화단층촬영(電算花斷層撮影)의 이용(利用)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Efficacy of CT-aided Radiotherapy Planning of Head and Neck Tumor)

  • CT scans obtained on 15 patients of head and neck malignant tumors were evaluated for their utility in ratiotherapy treatment planning. To evaluate the advantage of incorporating CT scans in radiotherapy treatment planning of head and neck malignant tumors, the dose distributions of treatment plan with and without CT scan were compared in 15 patients. And then the dose distributions of the first and second treatment plan were compared. 1. Tumor extend and localization were clearly delineated on CT scan in 12 of 15 cases (80%), suggestive in 2 (13.3%), and not seen in only one (6.7%) which had been in the postoperative state. 2. Tumor coverage after CT scan was adequate in 14 of 15 cases (93.3%) and not in only one. In one case of inadequate tumor coverage the target volume lay inside the field but reached within 0.5cm of the field margin (marginal miss). 3. The volume of normal tissue irradiated was reduced after CT scan in 12 of 15 cases (80%), increased in 1 (6.7%) and not changed in 2 (13.3%). 4. We could maximize the local control of disease and minimize unnecessary morbidity by delineating the location and extent of tumor and normal tissue with CT for treatment plannings.

  • Laser scanners are widely used for reverse engineering and inspection of freeform parts in industry such as motors, electronic products, dies and molds. Due to the lack of measuring software and positioning device, the laser scanning processes have been erroneous and inconsistent. In order to automate measuring processes, an automated scan plan generation software and a proprietary hardware are developed. In this paper, an automated laser scanning system using a 3-axis motorized stage is proposed. In the scan planning step, scan directions, paths, and the number of scans are generated considering optical and mechanical parameters. In the scanning step, the generated scan plan is downloaded into the laser scanner and the motorized stage and the points on the surface are captured automatically. Finally, the point data set is analyzed to evaluate the performance of the system.

거리맵을 이용한 3차원 얼굴 스캔 데이터와 CBCT 데이터의 정확한 정합 기법 (Accurate Registration Method of 3D Facial Scan Data and CBCT Data using Distance Map)

  • In this paper, we propose a registration method of 3d facial scan data and CBCT data using voxelization and distance map. First, two data sets are initially aligned by exploiting the voxelization of 3D facial scan data and the information of the center of mass. Second, a skin surface is extracted from 3D CBCT data by segmenting air and skin regions. Third, the positional and rotational differences between two images are accurately aligned by performing the rigid registration for the distance minimization of two skin surfaces. Experimental results showed that proposed registration method correctly aligned 3D facial scan data and CBCT data for ten patients. Our registration method might give useful clinical information for the oral surgery planning and the diagnosis of the treatment effects after an oral surgery.

치과 임플란트 치료계획시 상악동의 CBCT 영상에서 우연히 발견된 fungus ball의 일례 (A case report of incidental finding of fungus ball on CBCT of maxillary sinus in treatment planning of dental implant)

  • This report was to show the radiographic appearances of the fungus ball in a paranasal sinus and to emphasize the scan area of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to detect the calcification in the paranasal sinus. A seventyfour-year-old woman visited our department for the implant rehabilitation at both maxillary posterior edentulous region. Pre-operative radiographic examinations including the panoramic, CBCT, and multidector CT images were taken. An opacification in the right maxillary sinus was observed on the multiplanar image of CBCT, however the pre-determined scan area of CBCT in this report hardly showed the calcifications at the central portion of the maxillary sinus. The opacification in the maxillary sinus could be misdiagnosed as chronic maxillary sinusitis if the calcification of fungus ball was not simultaneously detected. The scan area of pre-operative CBCT needs to be enough to scan the paranasal sinus from top to bottom.

Incidental finding of metastatic malignancy involving the sphenoid sinus on a cone-beam computed tomographic scan: A case report

  • The increased use of cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) scans has made it increasingly necessary to evaluate incidental findings on CBCT scans. This report describes the case of a 66-year-old female patient who presented to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology and Medicine at the College of Dentistry of the author's institution and underwent a CBCT scan for maxillary alveolar process implant planning. Upon evaluation of the CBCT scan, a radiopaque (soft tissue attenuation) mass in the left superior aspect of the nasal cavity and left locule of the sphenoid sinus with opacification of the left locule of the sphenoid sinus was incidentally noted. These radiographic findings were suggestive of a space-occupying mass with a high possibility of malignancy. A further medical evaluation confirmed renal cell cancer metastasis to the sphenoid sinus. This study shows the significance of reviewing the entire CBCT scan for incidental findings.
