Recently, many scan projects are gradually increasing for maintenance, construction. The scan data contains useful data, which can be generated in the target application from the facility, space. However, modeling the scan data required for the application requires a lot of cost. In example, the converting 3D point cloud obtained from scan data into 3D object is a time-consuming task, and the modeling task is still very manual. This research proposes Scan-to-Geometry Mapping Rule Definition (S2G-MD) which maps point cloud data to geometry for irregular building plane objects. The S2G-MD considers user use case variability. The method to define rules for mapping scan to geometry is proposed. This research supports the reverse engineering semi-automatic process for the building planar geometry from the user perspective.

PURPOSE. This study investigated the accuracy of full-arch intraoral scans obtained by various scan strategies with the segmental scan and merge methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Seventy intraoral scans (seven scans per group) were performed using 10 scan strategies that differed in the segmental scan (1, 2, or 3 segments) and the scanning motion (straight, zigzag, or combined). The three-dimensional (3D) geometric accuracy of scan images was evaluated by comparison with a reference image in an image analysis software program, in terms of the arch shape discrepancies. Measurement parameters were the intermolar distance, interpremolar distance, anteroposterior distance, and global surface deviation. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey honestly significance difference post hoc tests were carried out to compare differences among the scan strategy groups (α = .05). RESULTS. The linear discrepancy values of intraoral scans were not different among scan strategies performed with the single scan and segmental scan methods. In general, differences in the scan motion did not show different accuracies, except for the intermolar distance measured under the scan conditions of a 3-segmental scan and zigzag motion. The global surface deviations were not different among all scan strategies. CONCLUSION. The segmental scan and merge methods using two scan parts appear to be reliable as an alternative to the single scan method for full-arch intraoral scans. When three segmental scans are involved, the accuracy of complete arch scan can be negatively affected.

We suggest an efficient Simultaneous Localization and 3D Polygon Map Building (SLAM) method with Kinect depth sensor for mobile robots in indoor environments. In this method, Kinect depth data is separated into row planes so that scan line segments are on each row plane. After grouping all scan line segments from all row planes into line groups, a set of 3D Scan polygons are fitted from each line group. A map matching algorithm then figures out pairs of scan polygons and existing map polygons in 3D, and localization is performed to record correct pose of the mobile robot. For 3D map-building, each 3D map polygon is created or updated by merging each matched 3D scan polygon, which considers scan and map edges efficiently. The validity of the proposed 3D SLAM algorithm is revealed via experiments.
We propose efficient scan testing method capable of reducing the test data and power dissipation for digital logic circuits. The proposed testing method is based on a hybrid run-length encoding which reduces test data storage on the tester. We also introduce modified Bus-invert coding method and scan cell design in scan cell reordering, thus providing increased power saving in scan in operation. Experimental results for ISCAS'89 benchmark circuits show that average power of 96.7% and peak power of 84% are reduced on the average without fault coverage degrading. We have obtained a high reduction of 78.2% on the test data compared the existing compression methods.
Ultrasonic pulse echo method comes to be difficult to apply to the multi-layered structure with very thin layer, because the echoes from the top and the bottom of the layer are overlapped. Conventionally method, deconvolution technique has been used for the decomposition of overlapped UT signals, however it has disabilities when the waveform of the transmitted signal is distorted according to the propagation. In this paper, the wavelet transform based deconvolution (WTBD) technique is proposed as a new signal processing method that can decompose the overlapped echo signals in A-Scan signal with superior performances compared to the conventional deconvolution technique. Performances of the proposed method are shown by through computer simulations using model signal with noise and are demonstrated by through experiments for the fabricated acryl rod with a thin steel plate bonded to it.

The scan matching is widely used in localization and mapping of mobile robots. This paper presents a probabilistic scan matching method. To improve the performance of the scan matching, a direction of data point is incorporated into the scan matching. The direction of data point is calculated using the line fitted by the neighborhood data. Owing to the incorporation, the performance of the matching was improved. The number of iterations in the scan matching decreased, and the tolerance against a high rotation between scans increased. Based on real data of a laser range finder, experiments verified the performance of the proposed direction augmented probabilistic scan matching algorithm.

3D scan technology can utilize real spatial information as it is in virtual space, so it can be usefully used in various fields such as reverse engineering of buildings and process management. Recently, with the development of ICT technology, more precise scan data can be obtained, and scan processing time has also been greatly reduced. In addition, the combination of software and scanning equipment used in 3D scanning technology is very diverse, and results are very different depending on which technology is used. Accordingly, there is a problem that it is difficult for a user who has no experience in 3D scanning technology to determine which technology and equipment should be used to obtain good results. In this study, 3D scan technologies mainly used at home and abroad are investigated, classified, and tested at actual construction sites to suggest considerations and suitable 3D scan methods when using 3D scans in construction sites. The test results were analyzed to evaluate the time it takes to scan, the final quality, and the user's convenience according to each technology method.

In this paper, An efficient non-scan DFT method for datapaths described in RTL is proposed. The proposed non-scan DFT method improves testability of datapaths based on hierarchical testability analysis regardless to width of the datapath. It always guarantees higher fault efficiency and faster test pattern generation time with little hardware overhead than previous methods. The experimental result shows the superiority of the proposed method of test pattern generation time, application time, and area overhead compared to the scan method.

A simulated radar terrain scan data generation method is employed for terrain following. This method scans the discrete terrain by sequentially radiating beams from the radar to the desired scan area with the same azimuth but varying elevation angles. The terrain data collected from the beam is integrated to generate the simulated radar terrain scan data, which comprises radar-detected points. However, these points can be located far from the beam centerline when the radar is far from them due to beam divergence. This paper proposes a geometry-based terrain scan data generation method for analysing simulated radar terrain scan data. The method involves detecting geometric points along the beam centerline, which forms the geometry-based terrain scan data. The analysis of the simulated radar terrain scan data utilising this method confirms that the beam width effects are accounted for in the results.

Delay testing has become highlighted in the field of digital circuits as the speed and the density of the circuits improve greatly. However, delay faults in sequential circuits cannot be detected easily due to the existence of state registers. To overcome this difficulty a new scan filp-flop is devised which can be used for both stuck-at testing and delay testing. In addition, the new scan flip-flop can be applied to both the existing functional justification method and the newly-developed reverse functional justification method which uses scan flip-flops as storing the second test patterns rather than the first test patterns. Experimental results on ISCAS 89 benchmark circuits show that the number of testable paths can be increased by about 10% on the average.
