  • In injection molding process using hot runners, color change is a critical issue. This work proposes a method of assessing the color change characteristics of thermoplastics polymers. A method that utilizes a capillary die to measure degree of color change has been devised and implemented. The extrudate from the capillary die has been imaged and quantized to a gray scale value. Based on the gray scale value, the degree of color change has been determined. Under given temperatures and extrusion velocity, its trend along with the number of extrusion has been obtained and analyzed.

  • In Korea, there is a lack of adequate safety management for small-scale construction work, particularly when compared to large-scale construction projects. The number of construction disasters is also higher on small-scale construction sites. In this regard, this study aimed to develop the application prototype to support the safety management of small-scale construction projects. The major findings of the research are as follows. 1) About 60% of construction disasters and death occurred on small-scale construction sites over the last two years. In addition, institutional support and costs for safety management were found to be insufficient. 2) The items of the application for the small-scale construction safety management were constructed on the basis of the safety management of large-scale construction work. The contents of the application were confirmed based on a survey of small-scale construction project managers. 3) The application algorithm was developed with a focus on the roles of management subjects and information exchange. For transition from the application prototype presented in this study to a commercial product, further research needs to be conducted regarding the reflection of user requirements and application management subjects.

  • We propose an outsole measurement/inspection system to improve the quality of the shoe product. It uses the Divide-and-Conquer technique to measure the length of shoes'outsole. First, it detects edge positions of outsole's toe and heel from each image frame using an unique scale block we defined and calculates the outsole's length as the distance of two edge positions. Then it compensates the total length of outsole using the side image of outsole. Next, it classifies the outsole as inferior goods if the measurement error is bigger than 5.8mm. As a result of testing with the various kinds of outsoles, it was shown that the 95% accuracy was acquired within 1mm allowable error range. In conclusion, the proposed inspection system is effective and useful in the measurement/inspection process of shoe product and any material object as well.

  • Environment, price, regulation, and other factors influence the price of agricultural products, which is a social signal of product supply and demand. The price of many agricultural products fluctuates greatly due to the asymmetry between production and marketing details. Horticultural goods are particularly price sensitive because they cannot be stored for long periods of time. It is very important and helpful to forecast the price of horticultural products which is crucial in designing a cropping plan. The proposed method guides the farmers in agricultural product production and harvesting plans. Farmers can benefit from long-term forecasting since it helps them plan their planting and harvesting schedules. Customers can also profit from daily average price estimates for the short term. This paper study the time series models such as ARIMA, SARIMA, and neural network models such as BPN, LSTM and are used for wheat cost prediction in India. A large scale available data set is collected and tested. The results shows that since ARIMA and SARIMA models are well suited for small-scale, continuous, and periodic data, the BPN and LSTM provide more accurate and faster results for predicting well weekly and monthly trends of price fluctuation.

  • In the consumer products industry, it has been highly desirable to develop objective test methods to replace subjective evaluation methods. In developing an objective test method, subjective evaluation data should be on a linear scale. According to Thurstone's theory of comparative judgment, a%-preference from a paired-comparison test can be converted to a linear-scale value. The required number (N) of paired-comparison tests increases dramatically as the number of products increases. This problem should be solved by classifying the total products into several subgroups consisting of 3-4 products in each group. By doing so, it can not only significantly reduce the number of required paired-comparison tests, but it can also obtain more reliable, reproducible data.

  • High-quality Sr-ferrite sintered magnets have been studied by using mill scale added SrCO$_3$ and oxidents before oxidation process. The pre-added SrCO$_3$ powders were improved the degree of oxidation and crush of mill scale and the magnetic properties of Sr-ferrite sintered magnets. The small added NaNO$_3$ oxidant was also highly improved the degree of oxidation and crush of mill scale and the magnetic properties of Sr-ferrite sintered magnets; 3805 G of remanent flux density, 3240 Oe of intrinsic coercivity, and 3.45 MGOe of maximum energy product.

  • Carbon cast iron and Zinc coated steel were the most widely used portable water of supply and distribution Pipeline system. The leaching of red water in portable water could produce sericus environmental sanitary problems. Due to the red water was the most alternative to inner scale of metal pipeline. So this study was conducted the impact of red water on scale products, and was evaluated by the corrosive metal contaminants of 20 fears over. Surface tests, metal surface composition measurements of samples XRF, XRD, and SEM(EDS), analysis were used to investigate the corrosion characteristies of carbon cast iron and Zinc coated steel. As the contaminants of Fe increased the red water of carbon castiron pipe increased due to the scale products amount of $Fe_2O_3$ (Hemite).

  • Black carbon, which is a by-product of combustion of fossil fuel and biomass burning, is the component that imposes the largest uncertainty on quantifying aerosol climate effect. The direct, indirect and semi-direct climate effects of black carbon depend on its state of the mixing with other water-soluble aerosol components. The process that transforms hydrophobic externally mixed black carbon particles into hygroscopic internally mixed ones is called "aging". In most climate models, simple parameterizations for the aging time scale are used instead of solving detailed dynamics equations on the aging process due to the computation cost. In this study, a new parameterization for the black carbon aging time scale due to condensation and coagulation is presented as a function of the concentration of hygroscopic atmospheric components and the black carbon particle size. It is shown that the black carbon aging time scale due to condensation of sulfuric acid vapors varies to a large extent depending on the sulfuric acid concentration and the black carbon particle size. This result indicates that the constant aging time scale values suggested in the literature cannot be directly applied to a global scale modeling. The aging time scale due to coagulation with internally mixed aerosol particles shows an even stronger dependency on particle size, which implies that the use of a particle-size-independent aging time scale may lead to a large error when the aging is dominated by coagulation.

  • Objectives: To examine the associations of borg's scale with actual heart rates of workers and energy consumption during their physical work. Methods: A total of 72 workers performing physical activities in postal service, ceramic manufacturing, and metal manufacturing participated in heart rate measurement for 1 work shift using the activity meter(A360) and responded to a borg's scale questionnaire. Results: In consistent with previous findings, we presented high correlation between borg's scale and energy consumption measures among workers performing physical activities(r=0.89) while post-work average heart rate showed nearly no correlation with post-work borg's scale (r=0.09). We proposed a set of adjustments when using borg's scale to estimate physical workload for those workers engaged in physical activities during the majority of their work shift. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that a caution should be paid to when using Borg's scale to estimate heart rates during physical activities as well as energy consumption as the product of heart rate measurements.
