만성통증환자의 통증연관 행위를 이용한 통증척도의 민감성 및 타당성 조사 (Sensitivity and Validity Test of Pain Rating Scale Using Pain Behavior of Adult Patients with Chronic Pain)

  • The purposes of this study were : 1) to evaluate validity of a pain rating scale using the level of correlation between the Korean Pain Rating Scale(KPRS), Short -Form KPRS(SKPRS) and the Graphic Rating Scale(GRS). 2) to identify sensitivity of the scale using pain behavior of patients with chronic pain. Of the 2025 patients with chronic pain who visited the orthopedic and neurosurgical out - patients departments of 11 university hospitals in various districts of Korea, 520 subjects were selected through convenient sampling and responded to the questionnaires by mail. The results of the study can be summarized as follows : 1. The mean pain score measured by the KPRS was 444,85 : the mean sensory score was 209.47, the mean affective score, 147.63 and the mean miscellaneus score. 87.75. The mean pain score measured by the GRS was 20.11 : the mean sensory intensity score, 10.54. and the mean distress score, 9.57. 2. The average number of hours of rest during the day was 3.3, the average score of discomfort in carrying out ADL was 99, the average frequency of pain relieving practices was 3.0, the average number of pain sites was 3.6. 3. The most sensitive scale to differentiate each group was the GRS, the KPRS and SKPRS were less sensitive than the GRS. 4. The intercorrelation between the KPRS total score and the GRS score(.500) as well as that of the SKPRS score were highly correlated(.652), but intercorrelation between the SKPRS score and the GRS score(.172) was not high. Based on the above results, it was found that the SKPRS must be studied further to obtain validity.

  • Objective & Methods : The case report is to observe 27 case of venesection with negative pressure therapy(buhang) operated at CV17 (Danjuong) on sudden palpitation. We carried out to analyze the distribution and Martin's evaluation and weighted scale by sex & age, patient conditional grade, accompanied symptoms, duration, number of treatments as well. Results : 1. Forties is significantly distributed on sudden palpitation. 2. Depression instance out of many accompanied symptoms is significantly distributed. 3. Mean of operant frequency is significantly resulted on 10 or 11 times. 4. The improvement on the weighted scale is over one grade. 5. Younger is high on the assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation and weighted scale by age, while older is low. 6. Lesser one year and more three years is some significantly resulted on the assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation and weighted scale by duration. 7. Pleurodynia, insomnia, distress in the stomach are effective more 90%, and depression, asthma are more 80% on the assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation by accompanied symptoms, while asthma and pleurodynia are very significantly resulted on the assessment of treatment on weighted scale. 8. The assessment of treatment on Martin's evaluation and weighted scale have no connection with operant frequency. Conclusion : These results suggest that venesection with negative pressure therapy(buhang) operated at CV17 (Danjuong) has a therapeutic effect on on sudden palpitation.

축소형 풍력터빈 풍동시험-축소효과 보상기법 (Wind Tunnel Test for Scaled Wind Turbine Model (Scale effect correction))

  • Wind tunnel test for the 12% scaled model of NREL Phase VI wind turbine was conducted in KARI low speed wind tunnel for $2006{\sim}2007$. The 1st and 2nd test was designed to find out the wind tunnel test method for the blade manufacturing accuracy and surface treatment method by using the composite and aluminum blades. And the 3rd test was designed to study the scale effect. The chord extension method which was used for Bo-105 40% scaled model was adapted for scale effect correction. Test results shows that the chord extension method works well for the torque slope but the maximum torque for scaled model is about 8% below than the real scale model. New correction method to correct this offset was proposed.

A parametric study of the meso-scale modelling of concrete subjected to cyclic compression

  • The present parametric study deals with the meso-scale modelling of concrete subjected to cyclic compression, which exhibits hysteresis loops during unloading and reloading. Concrete is idealised as a two-dimensional three-phase composite made of aggregates, mortar and interfacial transition zones (ITZs). The meso-scale modelling approach relies on the hypothesis that the hysteresis loops are caused by localised permanent displacements, which result in nonlinear fracture processes during unloading and reloading. A parametric study is carried out to investigate how aggregate density and size, amount of permanent displacements in the ITZ and the mortar, and the ITZ strength influence the hysteresis loops obtained with the meso-scale modelling approach.

  • Some as-built drawings in national roadway bridges in Korea were examined. There are many bridge piers, whose aspect ratios are in the vicinity of 2.5. These columns are expected to do shear-flexure behaviour and have large scale effect between full and reduced scale model. In the study, full and 1/2 scale model tests on the shear-flexure behaviour columns were carried out.   • Finite element analysis was carried out using wafer-scale and particle-scale models to understand the mechanism of the fast removal rate(edge effect) at wafer edges in the chemical-mechanical polishing process. This is the first to report that a particle-scale model can explain the edge effect well in terms of stress distribution and magnitude. The results also revealed that the mechanism could not be fully understood by using the wafer-scale model, which has been used in many previous studies. The wafer-scale model neither gives the stress magnitude that is sufficient to remove material nor indicates the coincidence between the stress distribution and the removal rate along a wafer surface.

  • Large-scale construction projects require various license and technologies for the manufacturing and handling processes. Also, the whole life cycle business process management determines the success of the project. Then, the efficiency of the business conducted by stakeholders and their possessed technology should be enhanced in order to strengthen their competitive power. For this reason, many experts pointed out to focus on the improvement of the life cycle process and efficient management. Since it is very important to keep up-to-date data and utilize it for work during the long-term project to reflect changes in the large-scale project, the most important part of the project management in project is information change management. Therefore, the objective of this study is applying configuration management(CM) technique in order to managing change data generated for planning in early phase. The result of this research will certainly assist the large-scale project managers in the development of information change management system.

Enhancement of Turbulent Heat Transfer of the Cooling System in Nuclear Reactor by Large Scale Vortex Generation

  • Experimental and computational studies were carried out to investigate the turbulent heat transfer enhancement of the cooling system in nuclear reactor by large scale vortex generation. The large scale vortex motion was generated by rearranging the inclination angels of mixing vanes to the coordinate direction. Axial development of mean and turbulent velocities in the subchannels were measured by the 2-color LDV system. Eddy diffusivity concept based on $\kappa{-}\varepsilon$ model was employed to calculate the turbulent heat and momentum transfers in the subchannel. The turbulences generated by split mixing vanes has small length scales so that they maintain only about $10D_H$ after the spacer grid. On the other hand, the turbulences generated by the large scale vortex motions continue longer and remain up to $25D_H$ after the spacer grid.

  • This paper presents a real-time rendering algorithm of large-scale geometric data using GLSL (OpenGL shading language). It details the VAO (vertex array object) and VBO(vertex buffer object) to be used for up-loading the large-scale point clouds and polygon meshes to a graphic video memory, and describes the shader program composed by a vertex shader and a fragment shader, which manipulates those large-scale data to be rendered by GPU. In addition, we explain the global rendering procedure that creates and runs the shader program with the VAO and VBO. Finally, a rendering performance will be measured with application examples, from which it will be demonstrated that the proposed algorithm enables a real-time rendering of large amount of geometric data, almost impossible to carry out by previous techniques.

  • A PHE (Process Heat Exchanger) is a key component required to transfer heat energy of $950^{\circ}C$ generated in a VHTR (Very High Temperature Reactor) to the chemical reaction that yields a large quantity of hydrogen. A small-scale PHE prototype made of Hastelloy-X is being tested in a small-scale gas loop at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. In this study, as a part of the evaluation on the high-temperature structural integrity of the small-scale PHE prototype, we carried out macroscopic high-temperature structural analysis of the small-scale PHE prototype under the gas loop test conditions considering the pipeline stiffness.
