We investigated the effect of brown-rice vinegar (BRV) ingestion after strenuous Wingate tests on energy substrates during a 2 hr recovery period. For this, seven healthy male adolescents were chosen as subjects. They performed 3 Wingate tests to induce fatigue, after which they ingested brown-rice vinegar (BRV) drink and/or water as a control (CON) after 15 min of the test. Blood was obtained pre-exercise and 30 min, 60 min, and 120 min post-exercise, and blood glucose, lactate, free fatty acids, ammonia, and cortisol were analyzed. After 120 min of recovery period, the 4th Wingate test was conducted to calculate the power recovery ratio of the 3rd and 4th trials. Breathing frequency, oxygen saturation, and heart rate did not show significant changes. Blood glucose level was lower in CON than BRV after 120 min of recovery, and blood lactate and ammonia levels were lower in BRV at 60 and 120 min. The higher free fatty acids were found at 60 and 120 min in BRV. In addition, Wingate power recovery ratio of peak power and peak power/body weight was significantly higher in BRV compared to CON. These results suggested that BRV ingestion after strenuous exercise facilitates fatigue recovery. Therefore, BRV might be effectively used as an ergogenic aid for events in which competitors compete two or more times a day.
Corn distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) is a completely new feed ingredient in the Korean feed market. There is an ever increasing need for the Korean feed industry to import and make the best of it as a high protein and high energy feed ingredient. A layer feeding trial was conducted for 10 weeks to investigate the effects of addition of light-colored DDGS to layer diets on laying performance, egg qualities and yolk fatty acid composition. Also, the economics of using DDGS in the Korean situation was analyzed. Nine hundred Hy-line Brown layers, 24 weeks of age, were employed in a feeding trial consisting of four dietary treatments (0, 10, 15, and 20% DDGS), and five replicates per treatment. All experimental diets were prepared as iso-protein (17%) and iso-calorie (TMEn 2,780 kcal/kg). The use of DDGS up to 20% in layer diets did not exert any influence on feed intake, laying rate, total egg mass, mean egg weight and feed conversion ratio (p>0.05). The color and breaking strength of eggshell, as well as the albumin height and Haugh unit were not affected by the addition of DDGS up to 20% in the diet. The yolk color was significantly increased by DDGS supplementation (p<0.05). As the DDGS level increased, the oleic acid content decreased, and the linoleic acid increased (p<0.05) in egg yolk. The degree of saturation of yolk fatty acids was not affected by DDGS supplementation. The inclusion of light-colored DDGS up to 20% in layer diets resulted in a decrease of feed cost per kg without any undesirable effect on laying performance. In conclusion, the light-colored DDGS (L* 56.65) could be used up to 20% in layer diets without any harmful effect on laying performance, and possibly provide economic benefits to the Korean poultry industry.
This study was designed to investigate the effect of iron supplementation on the iron nutritional status and anemia of high school girls in Korea. One hundred thirty-five female students residing in Ulian metropolitan city in Korea diagnosed as having anemia or iron deficiency participated in this study. One or two tablets of iron medicine(80-160 mg Fe as ferrous sulfate/day) were administered to all participants for 3 months. Subjects were evaluated with a questionaire, measurement of hematological indices before and after iron supplementation. The average height and weight of respondents were 161.62 $\pm$ 4.68 cm and 53.87 $\pm$ 6.10 kg, respectively. Daily intakes of energy were 1597.8 $\pm$ 302.35 kcal(76.0% RDA). Iron intakes were 13.72 $\pm$ 4.17 mg (76.3% of RDA) and calcium intakes were 580.74 $\pm$ 177.21(72.5% of RDA) before iron supp]ementation. At baseline, 63% of all participants had depleted store(serum ferritin 12 ug/ml and/or transferrin saturation(TS) < 14%). After iron supplementation, this proportion declined to 19.3%. 55.6% of subjects had 12 ug/m1 of basal ferritin concentration before iron supplementation, and this proportion declined to 16.3% after iron supplementation. The basal hemoglobin(Hb) concentrations were 12.13 $\pm$ 1.01 g/dl and they increased to 12.79 $\pm$ 0.81 g/dl, which showed significant difference artier iron supplementation(p < 0.001). The basal ferritin and TS(%) were 13.24 $\pm$ 11.66 ng/ml, 18.42 $\pm$ 10.12% and they significantly increased to 32.95 $\pm$ 21.14 ng/ml, 33.53 $\pm$ 16.64%, respectively(p < 0.001). The basal total iron binding protein(TIBC) were 467.81 $\pm$ 97.24 ug/dl and they significantly decreased to 325.05 $\pm$ 48.89 ug/dl(p < 0.001) after iron supplementation. The number of tablets administered was positively correlated with serum iron(t = 0.553, p < 0.01), serum ferritin(t = 0.557, p < 0.01), TS(%)(t = 0.588, p < 0.01) and negatively correlated with TIBC(t= -0.409, p <0.01). The anemia symptoms such as ‘Shortening of breath when going upstairs(p < 0.01)’, ‘Tired out easily(p < 0.01)’, ‘Feeling blue(p < 0.001)’, ‘Decreased ability to concentrate(p < 0.01)’, and ‘Poor memory(p < 0.001)’improved significantly after iron supplementation. In this study, daily iron supplementations were efficacious in improving the iron status and anemic symptoms of female high school students. Regular check-ups and nutrition education for adolescents are necessary because of their vulnerability to iron deficiency. Further studies are needed to determine the minimum effective dose of iron and to examine the adverse effect of long-term iron supplementation.

This paper presents the impact of partial shading on $CuIn_xGa_{(1-x)}Se_2(CIGS)$ photovoltaic(PV) modules with bypass diodes. When the CIGS PV modules were partially shaded, the modules were under conditions of partial reverse bias. We investigated the characterization of the bypass diode and solar cell properties of the CIGS PV modules when these was partially shaded, comparing the results with those for a crystalline silicon module. In crystalline silicon modules, the bypass diode was operated at a partial shade modules of 1.67 % shading. This protected the crystalline silicon module from hot spot damage. In CIGS thin film modules, on the other hand, the bypass diode was not operated before 20 % shading. This caused damage because of hotspots, which occurred as wormlike defects in the CIGS thin film module. Moreover, the bypass diode adapted to the CIGS thin film module was operated fully at 60% shading, while the CIGS thin film module was not operated under these conditions. It is known that the bypass diode adapted to the CIGS thin film module operated more slowly than that of the crystalline silicon module; this bypass diode also failed to protect the module from damage. This was because of the reverse saturation current of the CIGS thin film, $1.99{\times}10^{-5}A/cm^2$, which was higher than that of crystalline silicon, $8.11{\times}10^{-7}A/cm^2$.

In this paper, we aim to evaluate the effect of simulation training with a focus on the application of SBAR for the improvement of communication skills of nursing students with physician. The results of the analysis of 25 videos recorded pre/post-simulation were as follows: In terms of the SBAR score, "the most recently measured vital signs" in stage B increased significantly (Z = -2.448, p =.014); the frequency of step-by-step progress in SBAR did not advance to the SBA or SBAR stage in the pre-simulation stage, but increased to 48% post-simulation. The frequencies of SBAR evaluation items mentioned in the post-simulation were the following order: the name of the patient (96%), nurse's name (80%), most recently measured oxygen saturation (76%), and main symptoms (60%). The results of the nurse's judgment (A), request for additional prescription or request for the doctor's direct patient visit (R) were not mentioned. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the application of SBAR in simulation training, which requires problem solving through cooperation with physicians, because it has a positive effect on education in nurse-physician communication.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical safety and effect with and without additional submucosal midazolam to oral chloral hydrate and hydroxyzine when used for pediatric conscious sedation in a clinical dental environment. Methods: Thirty one cases of pediatric conscious sedations were performed in this study. Selection criteria included good health (ASA I), under 6 years old, 20 kg of body weight, uncooperative behavior and the need for sedation to receive dental treatment including anesthesia and restorative or surgical procedure for at least two teeth. In each visit, patients were randomly assigned into one of two groups; CH group: chloral hydrate (60 mg/kg), hydroxyzine (1 mg/kg), CH-M group: chloral hydrate (60 mg/kg). hydroxyzine (1 mg/kg) and submucoal midazolam (0.1 mg/kg). 50% nitrous oxide-oxygen was maintained during the sedation period Sedations were monitored using a pulse oximeter for estimating pulse rate (PR) and percutaneous oxygen saturation ($SpO_2$). Behavior response rated using Houpt's scale and need of restraint was assessed every 2 minutes through 30 minutes of operative procedure reviewing the videotape recording. Evaluation of overall behavior success was performed using modified overall behavior rate of Houpt's scale. Data was analyzed using t-test. Results: PR and $SpO_2$ for both groups remained within the normal values. The mean scores for sleep and movement of CH-M group were higher than those of CH group (P < 0.05). There were no significant difference in mean score for crying between two groups. The mean scores of overall behavior of CH-M group was higher than those of CH group (P < 0.01). Reinstraint of CH-M group was less required than that of CH group (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Oral chloral hydrate (60 mg/kg) and hydroxyzine (1 mg/kg) combined with submucosal injection of midazolam was safer and showed more improved sedation effect than oral chloral hydrate (60 mg/kg) and hydroxyzine (1 mg/kg) without midazolam for sedation of pediatric dental patients.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of light intensity and temperature on the photosynthesis and respiration of ginseng plant. Highly significant, second degree curvilinear regressions were recognized among the photosynthesis of ginseng leaves, light intensity and temperature. And an interaction between the effects of light intensity and temperature on the photosynthesis of ginseng leaves was found to be highly significant. The increasing rate of photosynthesis with the increase of light intensity was markedly decreased with increasing temperature. The light compensation point of ginseng leaves was significantly varied with temperature, and the average point was approximately 600 lux. The light saturation point of Korean ginseng was 11,000 lux at $15^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ and around 9,500 lux at above $25^{\circ}C$. The decreasing rate of photosynthesis with the increase of temperature significantly increased with increasing light intensity. The optimum temperature for the photosynthesis of ginseng leaves was about 15 to $22^{\circ}C$ and markedly decreased with increasing light intensity. The highest photosynthesis occurred in ginseng leaves grown with the shade of 15% transmittance. The respiration of ginseng leaves increased with the shade of 5% and/or 30% transmittance. High temperature stimulated the respiration of ginseng leaves. Percent respiration to photosynthesis of ginseng leaves grown with the shade was increased at high temperature and decreased with increasing light Intensity. It was also increased with increasing transmittance. The maximum $CO_2$ absorption of ginseng leaves grown with the shade of 5Ps and ISVS transmittance accurred at 9 o'clock a.m., whereas that of 20% transmittance occurred at 7-9 o'clock a.m. The duration of $CO_2$ absorption was distinctively long with the shade of high transmittance. The $CO_2$ compensation point in the photosynthesis of ginseng leaves was 130 ppm.
Physical and magnetic behaviors of reduced Co-Zn-Ti-Sn substituted Ba-ferrite particles with hydrogen are different from those of reduced-pure Ba-ferrite particles. The coercivity of substituted Ba-feffite particles shows a peaking effect with the reduction temperature ranging from 250 to 520 $^{\circ}C$, while the coercivity of pure Ba-ferrite decreases monotonically. The reduction process of substituted Ba-ferrite has been found to be devided into three steps. At the first and second steps, the magneto-plumbite structure maintained. When the reduced-substituted Ba-ferrite particles are reoxidized, the coercivity is reversible at the first step but irreversible at the second step. During the third step of reduction process above 410 $^{\circ}C$. The magneto plumbite structure was collapsed with formation of $\alpha$-Fe and $BaFeO_{3-x}$ phases and consequently the coercivity distribution is broaden and the coercivity irreversible. The coercivity and saturation magnetization decreases and increases up to 130 emu/g respectively. In this study, it is found that the substituted elements prevent the magneto-plumbite structure from collapse during the reduction process and furthermore migrate from the magnetic sites of $2a+4f_{IV}$, 2b, and 12k to $4f_{VI}$ and 12k'. An increase in the coercivity before the collapse of magneto-plumbite structure is attributed to the migration of cations in hexagonal Ba-ferrite structure.

It is judged that there could be certainty in every process of analyzing environmental samples using Liquid Scintillation Counter. Therefore, this study focuses on quantitative evaluation on uncertainty in an effort to analyze comparatively accurately environmental samples. For this, after parameters which can have an effect on uncertainty was derived, the evaluation on each parameter was tamed out. The results of analysis of each parameter showed that the effect according to the weight difference of Teflon vial did not appear, and that standard deviations of SQP(E) averages reached saturation point at $75{\sim}90$ sec at the result of making increases step by step the irradiation time of External standard, and that values measured by repeat method produces good results compared with replicate. Also, conclusion was derived that analysis on sample after it is left in cold and dark room at least above 1,000 minutes have to be carried out, and the result of carrying out verification on results measured as well as equipment itself using radioactivity-error-analysis and chi-square test, resonable result was derived.
In this study, the "Multi Well Plate-type cell Apparatus" was designed and setup for performing the producing experiments of methane hydrate by depressurization, heat stimulating methods. In order to characterizing the producing mechanism of hydrate through porous materials, the experiments for various producing methods have been conducted with the aid of the apparatus which has high permeability. In the experimental result of depressurization method, the pressure is temporarily increased unlikely conventional gas reservoir due to the sourcing effect of hydrate dissociation in the pore. Meanwhile, the temperature is decreased because of the endothermic reaction while hydrate is dissociated. In the experimental results of heat stimulating method, the dissociation in depressurization method is more slowly processed than that in thermal method, and hence, its gas production is lower. In the case of production right after heating, hydrate is dissociated only near injecting point and the permeability becomes greater at that area only. It infers that the more gas is produced during relatively earlier producing period. Since then, the hydrate is more slowly dissociated than the case of production after heating and soaking. This time, the performances of pressure and production obtained by thermal method have been analyzed in order to investigate the effect of soaking time on gas recovery. As a result, the gas recoveries in the case of 2 min and 4 min soaking are higher than case in 6 min soaking. This is reason that hydrate is reformed due to the decrease of temperature. It is expected that the experimental results obtained in this work may be more clearly explained by utilizing the lower permeable porous system with the greater hydrate saturation.
