Factors Influencing the Professional Self-Concept among Nursing Students (간호학생의 간호전문직 자아개념과 임상실습만족, 자아존중감 간의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing nursing students' professional self-concept. Methods: This study was conducted through a survey on 365 nursing students. The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires and analysed by the SPSS WIN 17.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score of professional self-concept was 2.83. Professional self-concept showed that there were differences according to grade, satisfaction on college life, motivation on choice of nursing, satisfaction on nursing, school work credit, interpersonal relationship, health status. There was a significant positive correlation between professional self-concept and between satisfaction with clinical practice. Significant positive correlations between professional self-concept and self-esteem, satisfaction with clinical practice and self-esteem were found. The significant factors influencing professional self-concept were self-esteem, satisfaction on clinical practice, satisfaction on nursing, interpersonal relationship, which explained 45.1% of the variance. Conclusion: This study suggests that a strategy increasing self-esteem is needed to enhance nursing students' professional self-concept.

Effects of Empowerment and Job Satisfaction on Nursing Performance of Clinical Nurses (간호사의 임파워먼트와 직무만족이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors that affect nursing performance; Those factors are personal characteristics, sub-categories of empowerment and job satisfaction of clinical nurses. Methods: Data were collected from November 24, 2012 to March 11, 2013, and participants were 451 hospital nurses in 6 hospitals. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression were used for data analysis. Results: Nurses who were older, married, highly educated, in the position of charge nurse, and with longer clinical careers showed relatively higher empowerment, higher job satisfaction, and higher nursing performance than others. Also, there were strong correlations between nursing performance and empowerment (r=.576)/job satisfaction (r=.617). Factors predicted nursing performance were relationship with coworkers (${\beta}=.398$), duty (${\beta}=.181$), promotion system (${\beta}=.134$), and turnover intention (${\beta}=-.109$). Factors predicting job satisfaction were competency of empowerment (${\beta}=.249$), and clinical career (${\beta}=.151$). These 6 factors explained 55.2% of the variance in nursing performance (F=93.37, <.001). Conclusion: Regarding human resource management, relationship with co-workers is a changeable factor. Therefore nursing organizations should apply these factors in human resource management to enhance nursing performance and achieve organizational goals.

Impact of appearance satisfaction and ego-resilience on employment stress among dental hygiene students (외모만족도와 자아탄력성이 치위생(학)과 재학생의 취업스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the appearance satisfaction and ego-resilience of dental hygiene students on their employment stress. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 403 female dental hygiene students in five colleges in Chungbuk-do, Gyeongnam-do, and Daejeon. Results : 1. The college students got a mean of $2.78{\pm}0.42$, $3.27{\pm}0.41$ and $2.28{\pm}0.52$ in appearance satisfaction, ego-resilience and job-seeking stress, respectively. 2. Employment stress revealed higher score in poorer financial conditions(p<0.001) and less major satisfaction(p<0.001). 3. Employment stress had a negative correlation to a physical attraction and somatic condition which were the sub-factors of appearance satisfaction. Stress also had a negative correlation to personal relationship and emotional control which were the sub-factors of ego-resilience. 4. Household economy(p=0.023) was identified as a variable that affected job-seeking stress, physical attraction(p=0.048) and somatic condition(p=0.039). Personal relationship(p=0.040) and emotional control(p=0.034) were the influential variables and had 33.2% of explanation power for employment stress. Conclusions : Appearance satisfaction and ego-resilience were the factors affecting job-seeking stress. Therefore counseling and educational programs should be provided for dental hygiene students to look at their own appearance and bodies in a more positive way, to foster their ego-resilience, to relieve and properly cope with employment stress and ultimately to promote their mental health.

The Relationship of Life Satisfaction, Health Behaviors and Successful Aging in the Elderly (지역사회 노인의 생활만족도, 건강행위와 성공적 노후간의 관계)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to the relationship between life satisfaction, health behaviors, and successful aging and factors associated with successful aging. Methods: Participants in this study included 159 elders living in one city. Data on life satisfaction (Choi's Life Satisfaction Scale for Korean elderly, 1984), health behaviors (Choi & Kim's Health Behaviors Scale for Korean elderly, 1997), and successful aging (Kim & Shin's Successful Aging Scale for Korean elderly, 2005) were collected by trained interviewers. For analysis of collected data, the PASW 18.0 program was used, which included descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Multiple regression. Results: Results showed a positive correlation between life satisfaction, health behaviors, and successful aging. Life satisfaction, self-perceived health status, and health behavior explained 60.8% of successful aging. Conclusion: There is a need to help improve health behavior and self-perceived health status of elders. We should also understand life satisfaction over their life span and establish a program that encourages healthy behavior in the community. Accordingly, these efforts will allow for achievement of a more successful aging process for the elderly.

The Impact of Content Quality and YouTuber Attributes on User Satisfaction and Behavioral Intentions in Food Mukbang Channels (유튜브 먹방 채널의 콘텐츠 품질 및 유튜브 속성이 이용만족도와 행동의도에 미치는 영향에 관한연구)

  • In this study, based on previous research on personal broadcasting, we indirectly measured content quality, YouTuber attributes, user satisfaction, and behavioral intention, which are latent variables that cannot be directly measured, as measurement variables, and then measured theoretically between the latent variables. In order to analyze the causal relationship, we used a structural equation model to determine to what extent the content quality of the YouTube mukbang channel and the YouTuber's attributes influence behavioral intentions such as purchase, recommendation, and continued use according to viewers' satisfaction with use. We intend to analyze and verify the relationship between related variables. The research results are as follows. First, the value, relevance, timeliness, completeness, and data quantity of content quality were found to have no significant impact on user satisfaction. Second, the trustworthiness, expertise, attractiveness, and intimacy of YouTuber attributes were found to have a significant impact on user satisfaction, but the similarity of YouTuber attributes did not have a significant impact on usage. Third, user satisfaction was found to have a significant impact on behavioral intentions and purchase intentions. However, user satisfaction was not found to have a direct significant impact on recommendation intentions or continued usage intentions.

Factors affecting the User Satisfaction and Continuance Usage Intention of Social Network Service (SNS 사용자의 개인적·사회적 특성이 지속적 사용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 생활 공유형 SNS를 중심으로)

  • Investments in information and communication technologies (ICT) around the world have grown at an enormous rate over the past two decades, which reflects a new emphasis on consumer mobile devices. A social network service (SNS) is an online service that aims to build social relations among people who share interests and activities. The role of SNS is enormous for communicating ideas and opinions among social participants. The use of SNS has recently become one of the most popular social activities worldwide. This research investigated relation between personal characteristics, social characteristics and user satisfaction on SNS then, analyzed how these factors affecting continuance usage intention on SNS users. The conclusion is summarized as below. The study results show that informativeness, pleasure, innovativeness, relationship and empathy of SNS are having positive impact to some degree on the user satisfaction. Further, the user satisfaction of SNS users and quality of life have a positive impact on the continuance usage intention of SNS users. This results show that various SNS qualities are necessary to actively explore and obtain further information that users intend to find, while they are insufficient in function to provide the information other users require or exchange information with other users through the SNS.

The effect of self-efficacy and job satisfaction of Dental Hygienists' on the organizational commitment and turnover intention (치과위생사의 자기효능감과 직무만족이 조직몰입과 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to identify relationships between turnover intention and variable factors among dental hygienists. Methods : Each factor of validity and reliability were investigated using factor analysis and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. The hypothesis of the data was proven and analyzed using the pearson correlation, regression analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results : The independent variables were based on self-efficacy, the dependent variables were based on job satisfaction. The results of the regression analysis were that self-efficacy is as high as job satisfaction. Independent variables based on self-efficacy and job satisfaction. The dependent variable is organizational commitment multiple regression analysis was used. The results showed that self-efficacy and job satisfaction are as high as organizational commitment. Independent variables based on organizational commitment. The dependent variable is the turnover-intention. Simple regression analysis showed that organizational commitment is as low as turnover-intention. Self-efficacy, job satisfaction and organizational commitment are different depending on individual traits and personal characteristics. Self-efficacy has been shown to have a positive relationship with job experiences, public work and turnover intention. Organizational commitment is also related with job experiences. However, there was no significant difference between job satisfaction, turnover intention and personal characteristics. Conclusions : According to the factor analysis of turnover intention, self-efficacy, job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention were correlated to each other. Self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment has a negative association with turnover intention.

Influences of Physical Work Environment on Job Satisfaction and Job Performance -Focusing on Personal Working, Co-Working and Amenity Space- (중소기업의 물리적 업무환경이 직무만족 및 직무성과에 미치는 영향 -개인집중업 공간, 협업 공간, 어메니티 공간을 중심으로-)

  • This study was conducted to empirically analyze the effect of the physical work environment of SMEs on work satisfaction and work performance. For the research, the physical work environment was subdivided into Focusing on Personal Working space, co-working space, and amenity space to establish a research model. For empirical analysis, a questionnaire survey was conducted targeting small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) workers. 250 valid copies were taken for analysis. Hypotheses were tested by multiple regression using SPSS 24. The study results were as follows. Focusing on Personal working space, co-working space, and amenity space all had a significant positive (+) effect on job satisfaction of SME employees. In addition, Focusing on personal working space, co-working space had a significant positive (+) effect on job performance. Amenity space was not tested for a significant influence on job performance. The contribution of this study was to identify the causal relationship between the physical work environment and the employee's job satisfaction and job performance in the absence of studies. In future research, it is ultimately necessary to identify the relationship with the business performance of a company.

A Comparaison of Patient Satisfaction with Care Received and Nurse Satisfaction with Care Given (간호사와 대상자가 인지하는 간호만족도 비교연구)

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to compare the level of satisfaction of patients with nursing care received, and of nurses with nursing care provided to their patients. Another purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between job satisfaction by the nurses and satisfaction with nursing care they provide. Method: A self-report questionnaire developed by Yoo & Hong (1999) was used to measure patient and nurse satisfaction. The participants were 147 patients and 133 nurses and data were collected from October 23 to October 30, 2002. Data analysis was done uslng SPSS WIN 11.0. Result: The average score for patient satisfaction was 2.47 (maximum score 5.0) and for nurses, 2.20. This difference was statistically significant. The patients gave high scores on care related personal hygiene, but they gave low scores for critical nursing areas such as following appropriate procedure for administering medications. No significant relationship was found between satisfaction with their nursing care by the nurses and satisfaction with the job. Conclusion: Even though the patient scores were significantly higher than nurses', the overall average score was very low and critical nursing actions received the lowest scores. It is necessary to identify areas in need of improvement and develop continuing education programs for nurses.

Relationship among User's Security Need Sufficiency, Customer Satisfaction and Life Satisfaction in Electronic Security System (기계경비시스템 이용자의 안전욕구충족과 이용만족 및 생활만족의 관계)

  • This study aims at diagnosing the relationship among user's security need Sufficiency, customer satisfaction and life satisfaction in electronic security system. For the achievement of this study selected electronic security system users in Seoul as a population for about 25 days from June 20$^{th}$, 2008 to July 15$^{th}$, 2008, segmented. This study selected 378 peoples by distributing 400 unities in total for each 80 peoples throughout purposive sampling method. The final 302 samples were used in statistics. Collected data was analyzed based on the aim of this study using SPSSWIN 16.0, and factor analysis, reliability analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis and path analysis were used as statistic techniques to analyze. The conclusions are the followings; First, The higher bodily, environmental, mental, informational, and physical security need the more body and property protection satisfaction and facility customer satisfaction. The higher bodily, environmental, and mental security need the more employee service satisfaction. Second, The higher bodily, environmental, informational, and physical security need are perceived, the more influence is marked with life satisfaction and security life satisfaction. Third, The higher personal and property protection, facility, and employee service satisfaction the more security life satisfaction. Also, the higher customer service and personal and property protection satisfaction are perceived, the more influence is marked with life satisfaction. Fourth, Security need sufficiency has little influence on life satisfaction directly, but it has high influences on life satisfaction through customer satisfaction of electronic security system.
