Nylon wire cutting method by nichrome wire is generally applicable for cube satellite applications due to its advantages of simplicity. However, the system complexity is not avoidable to apply it on the cube satellite with multi-deployable structures. A lower constraint force of the mechanism is also one of the disadvantages of the mechanism. In this study, we proposed a preliminary structure design of cube satellite with the separation mechanism which is applicable for holding and release of the multi-deployable structures. The effectiveness of the mechanism design was verified through function test of EM mechanism. The structure analysis results showed that the structure design proposed in this study is feasible.

The purpose of this study is to present a standardized scheme for providing agriculture-related information at various spatial resolutions of satellite images including Landsat+ETM, KOMPSAT-1 EOC, ASTER VNIR, and IKONOS panchromatic and multi-spectral images. The satellite images were interpreted especially for identifying agricultural areas, crop types, agricultural facilities and structures. The results were compared with the land cover/land use classification system suggested by Ministry of Construction & Transportation based on NGIS (National Geographic Information System) and Ministry of Environment based on satellite remote sensing data. As a result, high-resolution agricultural land cover map from IKONOS imageries was made out. The results by IKONOS image will be provided to KOMPSAT-2 project for agricultural application.

The efficient dynamic modeling of a satellite with flexible solar arrays is established by using the component mode synthesis technique. A flexible satellite model can be defined as the assembly of two sub-structures, central body and solar array. The reduced models of each substructure, which are expressed in each local frame, are coupled with respect to the satellite reference frame. The dynamic modeling method is applied to the numerical example of a satellite with a single solar array, and is verified by investigating the transfer function results with considering the solar array rotation.

Recently, there are a number of studies over dynamic analysis for minimizing vibration of flexible structures such as solar panel for agility of high-agility satellite. The traditional studies perform dynamic analysis of a solar panel assumed as rigid structure since the stiffness of solar panel is higher than the stiffness of solar panel's hinge spring. However, there are vibrations that have modes of bending and torsion when high-agility satellite rotate speedily. This vibrations result in delaying safety time of satellite or degrading image quality. This paper presents dynamic analysis's technique of satellites including the spring hinge of solar panel and flexible structural solar panel's effects described as the linear equation of motion using Lagrange's theorem, and verifies the validity of an established dynamic analysis's technique of satellites by comparing the finite element method. In addition high-agility satellite's dynamic characteristics of a torque profile are analyzed from the established dynamic analysis's technique of satellites.

A new and significantly small guided and resonant structure is suggested to take over bulky metallic hollow waveguides used in military satellite transceivers. Below Ku-band, the conventional waveguides resulting in quite heavy transceivers will be replaced by the low profile SIW(substrate integrated waveguide) structures that are distinguished from the others in that the suggested ones have much lower cut-off frequencies by the circuital configuration of DNG(dobule negative) constitutive parameters and become even smaller than the other SIWs. The design scheme is validated by the circuit and full-wave simulations from the guided, resonant, and coupled structures. Besides, a bandpass filter as the suggested coupled structure is fabricated with a cheap substrate in a low-budget fabrication process and its frequency response is measured as verification of the purpose of the design.

Rescaled Simulated Annealing(RSA) has been devised for improving the disadvantage of Simulated Annealing(SA) which requires tremendous amount of computation time. RSA and SA have been for optimization of truss and satellite structures and for comparison of results from two algorithms. Ten bar truss structure which has continuous design variables are optimized.. As a practical application, a satellite structure is optimized by the two algorithms. Weights of satellite upper platform and propulsion module are minimized. MSC/NASTRAN is used for the static and dynamic analysis. The optimization results of the RSA are compared with results of the classical SA. The numbers of optimization iterations could be effectively reduced by the RSA.

A microstrip array antenna is designed and tested for satellite broadcasting receptions. The Sierpinski equilateral triangular patch and SSFIP(slotstripfoaminverted patch) structures are used. The Sierpinski geometry is composed of 3 equilateral triangular patch and is easy to generate a circular polarization by sequential rotation array techniques. This 1${\times}$3 Sierpinski equilateral triangular patch antenna is extended to 8${\times}$2 array antenna for satellite broadcasting receptions. The measurement results of the reflection coefficients and the radiation patterns of the manufactured array antenna show good agreements with the simulation results.
The Milky Way (MW) and other systems including M31 and Cen A have flattened structures of their satellites (Disk of Satellites, DoS). Such structures are rare in simulations under the ΛCDM paradigm. DoS is known to depend mainly on 1) the alignment of satellite orbits and 2) the degree of central concentration of satellites. In this work, we examine quantitatively how these two parameters affect the flatness of a system. We find that the MW-like DoS is rare in IllustrisTNG100 simulation because its two parameters are out of the 1-s range and furthermore the MW has a structure more flattened than the other systems having similar parameters. Besides, we propose a new criterion for the MW-like systems superseding the conventional ones such as major-minor axis ratio of the MW's DoS with a value of 0.183. Each satellite system has a specific orbital combination and thus has a particular distribution of its parameters (and thus flatness). The median of the distribution is set as the representative value of each system. And the representative value of the MW can be used as a new criterion for classifying the MW-like DoS. We reconstruct the orbital combination of the observed MW satellites using GAIA DR2 data and find the systems in the simulation that have representative values similar to the new criterion from the reconstructed MW system. This allows us a new interpretation on the rarity of MW-like DoS in cosmological simulations.
The .Japanese sun observing satellite, Yohkoh, has been operational for five years and her scientific instruments are still in good condition. They have revealed ample of evidences that solar flares were triggered by magnetic reconnection, which was, for the first time, clearly indicated to take place in the solar corona. Cusp structures in soft X-rays and a new type of hard X-ray sources at the top of flaring loops have strongly supported the scenario originally proposed by C-S-H-KP. Nonthermal energy input in hard X-rays and thermal energy estimated from soft X-rays are fundamentally consistent with the interpretation of thick-target and chromospheric-evaporation models (Neupert effect). X-ray jets, another discovery of Yohkoh, were also associated with magnetic reconnection, as a result of the interaction of emerging fluxes with pre-existing coronal loops. Temperature structures of active regions, quiet sun, and coronal holes had very dynamic differential-emission-measure (DEM) distributions and high-temperature tails of DEM were considered to come from the contribution of flare-like activity.
This paper presents a global mode modeling of space structures and a control scheme from the practical point of view. Since the size of the satellite has become bigger and the accuracy of attitude control more strictly required, it is necessary to consider the structural flexibility of the spacecraft. Although it is well known that the finite element (FE) model can accurately model the flexibility of the satellite, there are associated problems : FE model has the system matrix with high order and does not provide any physical insights, and is available only after all structural features have been decided. Therefore, it is almost impossible to design attitude and orbit controller using FE model unless the structural features are in place. In order to deal with this problem, the control design scheme with the global mode (GM) model is suggested. This paper describes a flexible structure modeling and three-axis controller design process and demonstrates the adequate performance of the design with respect to the maneuverability by applying it to a large flexible spacecraft model.
