  • Recently in order to mange better life quality much effort was spent for environmental-friendly urban development project and environmental restoration project. During these projects, there should be deep understanding about atmospheric environment change analysis and long term monitoring so that it would be helpful for better environment promotion such as heat island mitigation effect and wind way construction. In this study, the surface temperature environment change between before and after Cheonggye Stream Restoration Project was mapped and analyzed by using ASTER(Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission Reflection Radiometer) TIR(Thermal Infrared) satellite imagery and finally the fact, that the heat island effect was mitigated, was clarified. For this study, the correlation analysis was conducted through comparing the difference between atmosphere temperature of AWS(Automatic Weather System) and surface temperature of ASTER. Furthermore, this study will be the infrastructure of urban meteorology model development by understanding surface temperature pattern change and executing quantitative analysis of heat island.

  • Until now, the extraction of information on geographic features and the compilation of maps from satellite imagery has had many limitations because of its lower resolution compared to aerial photos to the recent. However, it is expected that the availability of high resolution satellite imagery whose spatial resolution is about 1m will reduce such limitations. Currently, a compilation of national-wide digital base maps is going on to construct the National Geographic Information Systems in Korea. It will be used for many application field of the social welfare. Therefore, in this study, we suggest that satellite imagery can help it and we have experimented on the possibility of detecting and interpreting geographic data using satellite imagery of various spatial resolutions. The interpretability and detectability of 46 features in 6 categories was experimented with 6 kinds of images of different resolutions. As a subsequent procedure, we have performed the fractal analysis for a quality test of the texture information. Through the fractal analysis, we could show that texture information and probability of discrimination increases as the spatial resolution of the image increases. Based on the results of this experiment, we could suggest the possibility of the renewal and construction of the National-wide Geographic Information Systems database using satellite imagery, as well as of examining appropriate spatial resolutions for objects of interest.

  • Today's commercial high resolution satellite imagery such as IKONOS and QuickBird, offers the potential to extract useful spatial information for geographical database construction and GIS applications. Extraction of 3D building information from high resolution satellite imagery is one of the most active research topics. There have been many previous works to extract 3D information based on stereo analysis, including sensor modelling. Practically, it is not easy to obtain stereo high resolution satellite images. On single image performance, most studies applied the roof-bottom points or shadow length extracted manually to sensor models with DEM. It is not suitable to apply these algorithms for dense buildings. We aim to extract 3D building information from a single satellite image in a simple and practical way. To measure as many buildings as possible, in this paper, we suggested a new way to extract building height by triangular vector structure that consists of a building bottom point, its corresponding roof point and a shadow end point. The proposed method could increase the number of measurable building, and decrease the digitizing error and the computation efficiency.

  • In this paper a band-pass filter using dielectric resonators with tuning screw and spacer at Ku-band is designed and constructed. For the filter design and construction, the coupling coefficient K between two resonators is numberically evaluated. The external quality factor Q$_{ex}$ is also calculated with a microstrip line which is necessary for the field excitation of dielectric resonator. The coupling between dielectric resonator and microstrip line depends mainly upon the magnetic field and is principal parameter in band-pass filter. The Q$_{ex}$ and K data which are evaluated by numberical analysis are practically applied to the filter construction. The theoretical Band-pass filter responses are given by Chebyshev approximation and they are nearly similar to the experimental results.

  • Recently there have been a lot of kinds of damages in forest area such as forest fires, forest pest, landslide so that the efficient methods to mange those information and the way to face them are deadly needed. In this study, there were preparing the various vegetation index map and comparing them with the field surveying the tried to figure out which vegetation index algorism is the best proper to present forest fire damaged area. These all were based on Landsat ETM+ satellite image (2000.10.16). The result of this study is to select the high correlation algorism among the various vegetation indexes and then construct the forest fire disaster map, the case of forest fires damaged area.

  • Diverse researches using vegetation index have been carried out to monitor spring droughts that have frequently occurred since 2000. The strength of the drought monitoring using vegetation index lies in that it can reflect characteristics of satellite images: large area coverage, cyclicity, and promptness. However, vegetation index involve uncertainly caused by diverse factors that affect vegetation stress. In this study, multi-temporal vegetation index is compared with the most representative meteorological drought indices like PSDI, SPI. Based on the results from analyses, usability of vegetation index as a tool of drought analysis is proposed.

  • Currently, start of the operation US GPS, the Russian Glonass, European Galileo, the Chinese Compass satellites for positioning are celebrating a true GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) generation. Korea is building advanced infrastructure such as a national network consisting of CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Station), VRS service for real-time precise positioning and perform continuous upgrading. However, the acquisition of geospatial information using the national infrastructure requires many steps and high dependence on foreign software part in this process. This study contributes to advanced construction technology of geospatial information by design of realtime GNSS surveying system. As a results, it has designed the surveying software that can effectively positioning realtime. Designed realtime surveying software can utilized in various fields.

  • This paper presents the results of Landsat-TM imagery applications for detecting spatial variations of the water environments in the Saemankeum (STLR) project areas. The simulated tidal flow patterns from a two -dimensional hydro - dynamic model and water quality data from STRL project were used for relationships with the satellite data. Unsupervised classification of the tidal water body reflects the overall flow patterns at a flooding tide. Regressive equations for water quality parameters were derived and used for supervised classifications. The results were found to be useful to synoptically evaluate the water environments during the construction stages of the STLR project.
