A Study on the Development of Ku-band Satellite Tracking Antenna System for Ship (선박용 Ku-Band 위성추적형 안테나시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Satellite television receiving antenna is required for watching TV on the vehicles, ship and car. Recently TV is not only facility as getting information but one of utility in our life. In Korea, already on the service multi-channel satellite TV using excellent visibility and sound, and there are many users using now by fixing antenna. On this thesis, developed ship's satellite TV receiving antenna, the azimuth controlling is adopted azimuth information using gyro sensor and differential of receiving signal strength algorithm, and elevation controlling used gimbals. The result of this research is successfully implemented Korean satellite tracking antenna as performance until ${\pm}$30 degree roll and pitch of ship motion.

  • In today's Pay TV market, the importance of TPS for Pay TV operators is increasing rapidly. IP Hybrid services are essential for satellite broadcasters. This paper explains the various digital satellite broadcasting service trend, especially IP based hybrid service approach of satellite broadcasters(BskyB, CanalSat, DirecTV, etc.). Also this paper introduces SkyLife IP hybrid business approach to achieve a strong leadership in Pay TV market and related IP convergence market in Korea.

  • Recently n Korea, the House of Commons and terrestrial broadcasting facilities integrated with FM radio and the satellite compulsory was amended to transfer MATV(Master Antenna Television) adjusted by SMATV(Satellite Master Antenna Television). While the SMATV was accepted by default in most other countries, our county did not accept it as the default for broadcast. Because domestic cable and satellite television service providers are conflicts with their interest. bAs a result, the hybrid amplifier for SMATV technology development and volume production for the state is insufficient. Therefore, terrestrial television broadcast bands (54 ~ 806Mhz) and FM radio broadcast band (88 ~ 108Mhz) band satellite with (950 ~ 2150Mhz) to amplify the development of a broadband amplifier with subsequent resolution of problems is also presented in this study.

  • Since the 1960s in Korea, major broadcasting channels broadcasted farm television programs, however, airing of these programs were reduced in the 1990s. This was due to the declining number of farmers, and the low popularity rating of farm television programs. To cope with the situation, agriculture businessmen, farmers, and the officials concerned tried to acquire the independent farming television channel in cable television and satellite television, In 1998, one cable television channel started broadcasting, while another channel in satellite television began its broadcasting in 2001. One of the major concerns of the people in the broadcasting was actualization of the public interests in the new media multi-channel age. Recognizing this point, the study explored a few areas of concern such as conceptualizations of the public interest of the people in the digital age, examination of the surroundings of program production and marketing, and survey the media use behavior of target audience - rural residents; In the concept of the public interest, there are two points of view; market focused and democratic principle oriented. As the digitalization of broadcast advances and the logic of economics prevails, it is difficult to offer the public broadcasting service to farmers, however, democratic principles should be more emphasized. The rural resident prefer major terrestrial television channel to cable television and satellite television channel, and in media use behavior, the medium of major terrestrial television would be more useful for farm broadcasting.

  • In the 21s1 century, it may be possible to offer comprehensive service by integrating all communication media under the development of digital technology without the classification of broadcasting and communication. In addition, it will be begun to perform HDTV broadcasting by focusing on the Metropolitan area in 2001yr and will permit over 100 channels for satellite communication, thus multi-channel TV broadcasting age has come in Korea. Therefore, this study is to identify the future environment of TV broadcasting and service area in ISDB age and to present new interactive type publication satellite TV transmission system, which provides customizing type digital screen book publication, by analyzing satellite broadcasting technology to create Korean cultural area around the Korean peninsula.

Evaluation of the Interference from the Digital Broadcasting Satellite Networks into the Analogue Networks (디지틀 방소위성망이 아날로그 방송위성망으로 미치는 간섭량 평가)

  • The interference evaluation methods and criteria between the analogue TV/FM signals for BSS(Broadcasting Satellite Service) plans and the associated feeder link plans were established in WARC(World Administrative Radio Conference)-77 and 88. However, it should be applied the different interference evaluation methods and criteria of the digital TV signals from those of the analogue TV/FM signals. In this paper, the interference evaluation methods and criteria between the digital TV signals and the analogue TV/FM signals were analyzed. And also, the effects of the interference from the digital signals for Koreasat-1 into the analogue TV/FM signals for Japanese broadcasting satellite were evaluated. The amounts of EIRP reduction in the transmitting space stations were calculated to meet the interference criteria. The results showed that the digital BSS networks including Koreasat-1 would share the limited resources with the analogue BSS networks.

  • A conventional TV relay broadcast is a method of transmitting a program by means of a microwave, a leased wire, or a satellite. With the latest advances in LTE network, a relay approach using LTE mobile communications network has become increasingly competing with the traditional TV relay broadcast method. Since 2012, TV Chosun has been using the LTE network for marathon production, and channel A has also broadcast a marathon production broadcast using the LTE network. Therefore in this paper, we investigated the marathon relay method using LTE mobile communications network and compared with the traditional TV marathon relay method, and then suggested the optimum method for the marathon relay.

  • This study considered the factor of the adoption of the satellite DMB. This study focus on the TV audience's demographic traits and media usage. The results are follows : 1) the elder-aged group, high-educated group and car driver group have high intention to be subscriber for the satellite DMB service. 2) the white collar group and the middle income group have high intention to be subscriber for the satellite DMB service. 3) the many media use group and the many function use of mobile phone group have high intention to be subscriber for the satellite DMB service. 4) the local TV audience like the entertainment genre in video and audio service and the information genre in data service 5) the local TV audience don't mind of the re-transmission territorial broadcasting by the satellite DMB service.

“Omni-ultrawideband Antennas for Digital Satellite Receivers”

  • Recently, two kinds of the digital satellite receiver for radio and television have been developed as the global receiving system. The frequency bands of the satellite radio system are ranging from 1, 400MHz to 2, 600MHz, while the satellite television system are ranging from 11, 000MHz to 13, 000MHz New anti-discern antennas have been developed so that satisfies the Omni-characteristics in the horizontal directivity and approximately 45$^{\circ}$'elevation angle in the vertical directivity. These results were similar to the discern antenna except the anti-vertical directivity.
