Image Fusion and Evaluation by using Mapping Satellite-1 Data

  • China's Mapping Satellite-1, developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), was launched in three years ago. The data from Mapping Satellite-1 are able to use for efficient surveying and geometric mapping application field. In this paper, we fuse the panchromatic and multispectral images of Changchun area, which are obtained from the Mapping Satellite-1, the one that is the Chinese first transmission-type three-dimensional mapping satellite. The four traditional image fusion methods, which are HPF, Mod.IHS, Panshar and wavelet transform, were used to approach for effectively fusing Mapping Satellite-1 remote sensing data. Subsequently we assess the results with some commonly used methods, which are known a subjective qualitative evaluation and quantitative statistical analysis approach. Consequently, we found that the wavelet transform remote sensing image fusion is the optimal in the degree of distortion, the ability of performance of details and image information availability among four methods. To further understand the optimal methods to fuse Mapping Satellite-1 images, an additional study is necessary.

  • This paper presents on adjustment methods of the vendor-provided RPC(Rational Polynomial Coefficient) of GEO-level stereo images for the IKONOS satellite. RPC are adjusted with control points by the first-order polynomial and the block adjustment method in this study. As results, the maximum error of 3D ground coordinates by the adjusted RPC model did not exceed 4m. The block adjustment method is more stability than the first-order polynomial method.

  • It's important to classify criteria in selecting suitable area about the huge industrial area and housing area. Also it's need accurate criteria and effectiveness in selecting suitable area. The aim of the study is to investigate area using data result from aspect, elevation, slope were analyzed by satellite image and DEM. Finally, review the effectiveness and complement of cirteria in the future.

Wavelet Transform을 이용한 인공위성 영상의 압축 (Compression of Satellite Image Data using the Wavelet Transform)

  • 본 연구에서는 고해상도 위성 영상에 관한 압축을 연구하였다. 위성영상은 많은 픽셀 정보와 이루어져 있기 때문에 빠른 영상처리와 데이터 보관을 위해서 압축이 필수적이다. 특히 영상압축시 도로정보와 건물, 산림, 지형 등의 특징을 왜곡을 최소화하여 압축하여야 한다. 따라서는 본 연구에서는 함수공간에서 영상 압축이 가능한 웨이브렛을 기반하여 위성 영상의 압축기법을 제안하였으며, 일반적인 정지영상 압축 기법인 JPEG과의 압축성능을 분석하였다. 그 결과 웨이브렛 압축기법이 JPEG보다 1/10 이상의 압축 성능을 보였다.
