In this study, the water quality parameters of Geum-river were estimated using Landsat 8 satellite image data which had launched in March 2013. The goal of this research is to predict HAB and to monitor spatial pattern of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) because both TN and TP are the dominant factors of the growth of harmful algal blooms (HABs). To investigate the relationship between satellite band reflectance and in situ measurement value, Pearson' correlation coefficient analysis was used. The band2, 3, 4 and 5 reflectance values among 11 bands of Landsat 8 were used which was highly associated with detecting TN and TP. The 20 in situ data set with satellite's overpass time were identified. TN showed positive relation with band 2 (0.48), band3 (0.62), band4 (0.57) at a significance level of p<0.05. TP also showed high correlation for band2 (0.59), band3 (0.59), band4 (0.58) at a significance level of p<0.01. The optimal regression equation models were constructed for TN and TP based on multiple regression equations. The estimated concentration based on derived regression equations of TN and TP were compared with in situ measurement data. Finally, the spatial pattern of the two parameters was able be monitored through mapping on November 12, 2013 and April 21, 2014.
Recent improvements of satellite remote sensing sensors which are represented by hyperspectral imaging sensors and high spatial resolution sensors provide a large amount of data, typically several hundred megabytes per one scene. Moreover, increasing information exchange via internet and information super-highway requires the developments of more active service systems for processing and analysing of remote sensing data in order to provide value-added products. In this sense, an advanced satellite data processing system is being developed to achive high performance in computing speed and efficieney in processing a huge volume of data, and to make possible network computing and easy improving, upgrading and managing of systems. JAVA internet programming language provides several advantages for developing software such as object-oriented programming, multi-threading and robust memory managent. Using these features, a satellite data processing system named as GeoPixel has been developing using JAVA language. The GeoPixel adopted newly developed techniques including object-pipe connect method between each process and multi-threading structure. In other words, this system has characteristics such as independent operating platform and efficient data processing by handling a huge volume of remote sensing data with robustness. In the evaluation of data processing capability, the satisfactory results were shown in utilizing computer resources(CPU and Memory) and processing speeds.

The aim of this study is to propose a fine co-registration approach for multi-temporal satellite images acquired from RapidEye, which has an advantage of availability for time-series analysis. To this end, we generate multitemporal ortho-rectified images using RPCs (Rational Polynomial Coefficients) provided with RapidEye images and then perform fine co-registration between the ortho-rectified images. A DEM (Digital Elevation Model) extracted from the digital map was used to generate the ortho-rectified images, and the RNCC (Registration Noise Cross Correlation) was applied to conduct the fine co-registration. Experiments were carried out using 4 RapidEye 1B images obtained from May 2015 to November 2016 over the Yeonggwang area. All 5 bands (blue, green, red, red edge, and near-infrared) that RapidEye provided were used to carry out the fine co-registration to show their possibility of being applicable for the co-registration. Experimental results showed that all the bands of RapidEye images could be co-registered with each other and the geometric alignment between images was qualitatively/quantitatively improved. Especially, it was confirmed that stable registration results were obtained by using the red and red edge bands, irrespective of the seasonal differences in the image acquisition.
Since the release of Meta's Segment Anything Model (SAM), a large-scale vision transformer generation model with rapid image segmentation capabilities, several studies have been conducted to apply this technology in various fields. In this study, we aimed to investigate the applicability of SAM for water bodies detection and extraction using the QGIS Geo-SAM plugin, which enables the use of SAM with satellite imagery. The experimental data consisted of Compact Advanced Satellite 500 (CAS500)-1 images. The results obtained by applying SAM to these data were compared with manually digitized water objects, Open Street Map (OSM), and water body data from the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII)-based hydrological digital map. The mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) calculated for all features extracted using SAM and these three-comparison data were 0.7490, 0.5905, and 0.4921, respectively. For features commonly appeared or extracted in all datasets, the results were 0.9189, 0.8779, and 0.7715, respectively. Based on analysis of the spatial consistency between SAM results and other comparison data, SAM showed limitations in detecting small-scale or poorly defined streams but provided meaningful segmentation results for water body classification.

This study refers to the derivation of simple crop yield prediction equation by using KOMPSAT-2 derived vegetation index. For a 1.25 ha small farm area located in the middle part of South Korea, the KOMPSAT-2 panchromatic and multi-spectral images of 31th August 2008, 17th November 2008, and 10th September 2009 were used. The field spectral reflectance during growing period for the 6 crops (rice, potato, corn, red pepper, garlic, and bean) were measured using ground spectroradiometer and the yield was investigated. Among the 6 vegetation indices (VI), the NDVI and ARVI between measured and image derived showed high relationship with the coefficient of determination of 0.85 and 0.95 respectively. Using the 3 years field data, the NDVI and ARVI regression curves were derived, and the yields were tried to compare with the maximum VIs value.

The main objective of this paper is to present the rain cell size distribution observed during squall line episodes in the Sudano-Sahelian region. The used data were collected during the EPSAT Program [Etude des Precipitation par SATellite (Satellites Study of Precipitation)] which has been developed since 1958, on an experimental area located near Niamey, Niger (2 10′32"E, 13 28′38"N). The data were obtained with a C-band radar and a network composed of approximately 100 raingages over a 10,000 $\textrm{km}^2$. In this work a culling of the squall line episodes was made for the 1992 rainy season. After radar data calibration using the raingage network a number of PPI (Plan Position Indicator) images were generated. Each image was then treated in order to obtain a series of radar reflectivity (Z) maps. To describe the cell distribution, a contouring program was used to analyze the areas with rain rate greater than or equal to the contour threshold (R$\geq$$\tau$). 24700 contours were generated, where each iso-pleth belongs to a predefined threshold. Computing each cell surface and relating its area to an equi-circle (a circle having the same area as the cell), a statistical analysis was made. The results show that the number of rain cells having a given size is an inverse exponential function of the equivalent radius. The average and median equivalent radii ate 1.4 and 0.69 In respectively. Implications of these results for the precipitation estimation using threshold methods are discussed.

Interferometry SAR (InSAR) is a technique to generate topographic map from complex data pairs observed by antennas at different locations. However, to obtain topographic information using InSAR is difficult task because it requires series of complicated process including phase unwrapping and precise recovery of the SAR geometry. Especially, accuracy of the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) produced by repeat pass single SAR pair could be influenced by atmospheric effect. Recently, a new InSAR technique to improve accuracy of DEM has been introduced that utilizes low resolution DEM with a number of SAR image pairs. The coarse DEM plays an important role in reducing phase unwrapping error caused by layover and satellite orbit error. In this study, we implemented DInSAR (Differential InSAR) method which combines low resolution DEMs and ERS tandem pair images. GTOPO30 DEM with 1km resolution, SRTM-3 DEM with 100m resolution, and DEM with 10m resolution derived from 1:25,000 digital vector map were used to investigate feasibility of DInSAR. The accuracy of the DEMs generated both by InSAR and DInSAR was evaluated.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility from landslides in the Lai Chau region of Vietnam, using Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing data, focusing on the relationship between tectonic fractures and landslides. Landslide locations were identified from an interpretation of aerial photographs and field surveys. Topographic and geological data and satellite images were collected, processed, and constructed into a spatial database using GIS data and image processing techniques, and a scheme of the tectonic fracturing of the crust in the Lai Chau region was established. In this scheme, Lai Chau was identified as a region with low crustal fractures, with the grade of tectonic fracture having a close relationship with landslide occurrence. The factors found to influence landslide occurrence were: topographic slope, topographic aspect, topographic curvature, distance from drainage, lithology, distance from a tectonic fracture and land cover. Landslide prone areas were analyzed and mapped using the landslide occurrence factors employing the probability-likelihood ratio method. The results of the analysis were verified using landslide location data, and these showed a satisfactory agreement between the hazard map and existing landslide location data.
This study has regard to classification by using multi-temporal SAR data. Multi-temporal JERS-1 SAR images are used for extract the land cover information and possibility. So far, land cover information extracted by high resolution aerial photo, satellite images, and field survey. This study developed on multi-temporal land cover status monitoring and coherence information mapping can be processing by L band SAR image. From July, 1997 to October, 1998 JERS SAR images (9 scenes) coherence values are analyzed and then extracted land cover information factors, so on. This technique which forms the basis of what is called SAR Interferometry or InSAR for short has also been employed in spaceborne systems. In such systems the separation of the antennas, called the baseline is obtained by utilizing a single antenna in a repeat pass.

The purpose of this study is to develop landslide susceptibility analysis techniques using artificial neural network and to apply the developed techniques to the study area of janghung in Korea. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of satellite image and field survey data, and a spatial database of the topography, soil, forest and land use were consturced. The 13 landslide-related factors were extracted from the spatial database. Using those factors, landslide susceptibility was analyzed by artificial neural network methods, and the susceptibility map was made with a e15 program. For this, the weights of each factor were determinated in 5 cases by the backpropagation method, which is a type of artificial neural network method. Then the landslide susceptibility indexes were calculated using the weights and the susceptibility maps were made with a GIS to the 5 cases. A GIS was used to efficiently analyze the vast amount of data, and an artificial neural network was turned out be an effective tool to analyze the landslide susceptibility.
