Purpose: The purpose of this study was to address differences between mental health according to sasang constitution and ego state among college students. Methods: Data for this cross-sectional study were collected by administration of questionnaires eliciting Woo's ego state scale, QSCC II for the sasang constitution classification, and SCL-90-R for mental health to 393 college students. Analysis was performed using IBM SPSS (version 19.0). Results: The Free Child ego and Adapted Child ego differed significantly among sasang types. The ego-gram pattern of So-eum type exhibited the N pattern (Nurturing Parent (NP)>Adapted Child (AC)>Adult (A)>Free Child (FC)>Critical Parent (CP), AC-high type), however, the ego-gram pattern of other constitution types showed the M pattern (NP>FC>A>AC>CP). No statistically significant differences in mental health were observed among sasang types, however, among ego states, AC and CP showed negative correlation with mental health status. Between So-eum type and So-yang type, AC was the factor predicting mental health. Between Tae-eum type and undefined type, AC and CP were factors predicting mental health. Conclusion: These findings suggest that sasang constitution could be an important factor in understanding the ego state and mental health status. We conclude that sasang constitution should be considered in interpretation of mental health status presentation in clients.

Objectives : This dissertation is to study the relationship between Scoliosis and Sasang Constitution. Methods : The researcher discriminated the Sasang constitutions of those observed - the out-patients - who were treated from January to June 2004, and showed, through whole spine X-ray, over 10 degrees in Cobb's angle. The result coming out from this study was compared firstly with the existing Sasang constitution theory from 《Dongyi Suse Bowon》 《東醫壽世保元》 and secondly with the existing of QSCCII statistics. The statistics were taken as Goodness-of-fit test, T-test, and ANOVA test. Results : 1. Of those 29 observed, 4(13.79%) were categorized in Taeum-in, 14(48.28%) in Soyang-in, and 11(37.93%)in Soum-in. 2. The result showed a significant difference with the Sasang constitution from Dong-isusebowon. 3. The result showed a difference with the existing from QSCCII. 4. There of no significant relations between each constitutions and Scoliosis. 5. There no significant relations between distinction and Scoliosis. Conclusions : In this study, rate of Soyang-in, among patients diagnosed scoliosis, was the higher.

Objective : This study was carried out to review Chang-Won Lee's theory of Sasangand acupuncture of constitution. Methods : We have investigated Chang-Won Lee's unknown literature "Medicine of sassang "(四象醫學). Results : Constitutional acupuncture is based on the diversity of human being and medically developed the response variation to disease and acupuncture. The diversity is due to the Organ's Congenital Formation Variation based on human nature and it is categorized as four from physiology, pathology, symptoms, to therapy. Chang-Won Lee's constitutional acupuncture discriminated constitution of comparison palpations of right and left both sides. He insisted that constitution only four type(Sasang), not exist man of To-Hyoung (土形人) in "young -chu"(靈樞) and his constitutional acupuncture all used Jung-kyuck (reinforcement acupuncture method) and Seong-kyuck(reducing acupuncture method) of Sa-am(舍岩)

This research is purposed to find Dong-mu's thought on 'philosophy and medical interrelationship' in his writings. It was researched with Dong-mu's chief medical writings such as ${\ulcorner}$Gyukchigo(格致藁)${\lrcorner}$ , ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon(東醫壽世保元) ${\lrcorner}$ , ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷)${\lrcorner}$ , ${\ulcorner}$Dong-mu's posthumos work(東武遺稿)${\lrcorner}$ Dong-mu describe his philosophy conception with the system of The Book of change(周易). But he changes the meaning of Taegeuk(太極), LangYui(兩儀), Sasang(四象) on the respect of human being. Gyuchigo(格致藁) can be understood as social behavior pattern of Sasang constitute. From ${\ulcorner}$Gyukchigo(格致藁)${\lrcorner}$ to The theory of Sung-Meung(性命論), It is focused on Nature(性) and Order(命). Affairs- Mind - Body-Objects(事心身物) was distributed at Heaven-Human -Nature-Order(天人性命) on the respect of Human Moral. In the respect of Form-Use(體用), It is assigned to Form(體) and metaphysical philosophy. After The theory of Sa-Dan(四端論) in ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon(東醫壽世保元) ${\lrcorner}$, It is focused on Nature-Emotion(性情). Affairs - Mind - Body - Objects(事心身物)is distributed at Heaven-Human -Nature-Order (天人性命) on the respect of human internal mind. In the respect of Form-Use(體用), It is assigned to Use(用) and Physical science. Sasang Constitution can be expanded to Eight COnstitution in the respect of dominant position among Nature(性) and Emotion(情).
