The climacteric is the period of passage out of the reproductive stage of life and into the nonreproductive phase. The climacteric can be accompanied by wide-ranging, uncomfortable and disruptive symptoms. Symptoms that are related to hormonal changes include abnormal bleeding, facial flushing, and urogenital discomfort. This patient was 45- year-old woman who had headache, facial flushing, thirst, fatigue, irregular menstruation, urogenital discomfort and had been diagnosed and teated climacteric. We classified this patient as Soyangin(少陽人) Yin collapsed ease(亡陰證) and prescribed Hyeongbangsabaeksan(荊防瀉白散). We experienced the good effect of Hyeongbangsabaeksan on Soyangin Mangyin-disease We report the healing process and the result of treatment in this study.

Objectives This study aimed to report significant improvement of dizziness, gait disturbance and dysarthria after treatment with Sasang constitutional medicine treatment on a Taeeumin patient with olivopontocerebellar atrophy. Methods A 53-year-old female diagnosed olivopontocerebellar atrophy about one year ago suffered from dizziness, gait disturbance and dysarthria. The patient was identified as Taeeumin Joyeol pattern and treated with Cheongsimyeonja-tang and Taegeuk acupuncture. The patient's main symptoms were observed using Global Assessment Scale (GAS) during the treatment period. In addition, the Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale (UMSARS) was used to assess the overall function of patient. Results We observed a significant improvement in symptoms of dizziness, gait disturbance and dysarthria using GAS, and UMSARS score decreased in Part I and II. Conclusions This case showed that Sasang constitutional medicine treatment can be effective treatment for Taeeumin patient with olivopontocerebellar atrophy. We consider that consistent treatment can contribute to improve the patient's quality of life.

Objectives: This paper was for studying the features of stool according to Sasang constitution and to be helpful to make a diagnosis Sasang constitution. Using the result of this study, it will be helpful to diagnose a Sasang constitution. Methods: There were 504 patients(214 men and 290 women) who answered questionnaire and were diagnosed by the Sasang constitution specialist at constitutional clinic of Dongguk Bundang Oriental Hospital. Using the response of questionnaire and several statistical techniques, we tried to find the characteristics of each constitution depending on its stool behaviors. Results: As a result of the analysis of questionnaire, the stool of Taeumin and Soyangin got, on the average, more scattered than the stool of Soeumin(p<0.05). In a view of defecation time, feeling after defecation and thickness of stool, there was no difference between Sasang constitution.

To investigate the antioxidant capacity of traditional Korean herb medicines, water extracts from 42 species which has been used for the Taeum constitution of Sasang Medicine, were tested on their antioxidant activity using radical scavenging effects against ABTS. Some Of them showed strong antioxidant capacities at $50{\mu}g$ concentration. And, antioxidant capacities of 2 prescriptions extract of Sasang Medicine, Cheongsimyeonja-tang and Yeoldahanso-tang, in the different concentration ($10{\mu}g$, $50{\mu}g$, and $100{\mu}g$) were determined. At the same time, the antiperoxidation effects of these 2 prescriptions extract were determined. Lipid peroxidation in brain homogenates induced by NADPH and $ADF-Fe^{2+}$ was strongly inhibited by Cheongsimyeonja-tang in vitro. The above-mentioned 2 prescriptions are a potent antioxidant capacity and antiperoxidation activity, further investigation into the in vivo antioxidant therapeutic potential for treatment of human disorders in brain tissue.

1. Objective The purpose of this study was to develop and upgrade the On-line SSCQ (Sasang Constitution Questionnaire) by making an analysis of diagnostic accuracy rate of Sasang Constitution Questionnaire for doctors. 2. Methods We have collected SSCQ-D(Sasang Constitution Questionnaire for Doctors) from the dept. of Sasang constitutional medicine in the four other university. We classified data according to Sasang constitution, sex, age and BMI and made an analysis using the chiefly discriminant analysis model, additionally frequency analysis, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. 3. Results and Conclusion 1) Diagnostic accuracy rate of the SSCQ-D was between 71.33 and 95.14%. (1) About the whole subject the accuracy rate was 71.33%. (2) About the whole female the accuracy rate was 73.26%. (3) About the whole male the accuracy rate was 81.41%. 2) The more classification variables we used in this analysis study, the higher the diagnostic accuracy rate increased.

1. Purpose This study was performed to find the objective Sasang Constitutional Diagnosis, The O-ring test is thought to be one of the several methods to classify constitution. But the O-ring test has several problems. I studied the Sasang Constitutional Diagnosis which is used by Pinch-Guage and Herb Drugs for alternative methods. 2. Methods I tested 89 person's grasping power with changing the medical herb which is exist on person's another hand. conclusion of the test was compared with that of QSCC II to confirm the significance of this study. 3. Results and conclusions Soyangin group, Taeumin group, Male Soyangin goup, Male Taeumin group and Male group have a significant result on converting grades statistically.

1. Objectives: The purpose of this study was done to learn the Sasang constitutional distribution and to find out if there are differences in the type of diseases and symptoms according to the Sasang constitution in Japan. 2. Methods: We collected data from 366 patients who visited the Department of Oriental Medicine, Keio University and recruited 132 healthy persons in Tokyo, Japan. For sasang constitution diagnosis, they all have done SSCQ-P(Sasang Constitution Questionaire for Patients) questionnaire. and a sasang constitution specialist diagnosed the sasang constitution of them. And We classify the diseases and symptoms of 313 patients according to KCD(Korean Standard Classification of Diseases) and learn the prevalences of diseases and symptoms according to Sasang Constitution. 3. Results: 1) Among the total 498 subjects, distributional rate of Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeeumin, and Soeumin were 2.0%, 26.3%, 29.9%, and 41.8%. Among the 366 patients, distributional rate of Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeumin, and Soeumin were 0.8%, 27.3%, 28.7%, and 43.2%. Among the 132 healthy group, distributional rate of Taeyangin, Soyangin, Taeeumin, and Soeumin were 5.3%, 23.5%, 33.3%, and 37.9%. 2) The prevalences of 'V.Mental and behavioural disorders', 'XI.Diseases of the digestive system', 'XV.Pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium' and 'feeling of coldness(X VIII.Symptoms, signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings, NEC)' of Soeumin were significantly higher than those of the other constitutions.(p-value<0.05) 4. Conclusions: The distributional rate of Sasangin of Japanese was different from that of Korean and especially the distributional rate of Soeumin of Japanese was significantly higher than that of Korean. There were significant differences on the prevalences of some diseases and symtoms according to KCD in Soeumin.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate economic decision-making in accordance with Sasang Constitution through Ultimatum Game. Methods 84 subjects classified as Sasang Constitution played Ultimatum Game in two session which are firstly not facing their opponents(responders) and secondly facing ones. And they were also proposed unfair offers(9:1) in the same two session. Amount of proposal and whether they accept or reject to unfair offers were observed. Results and Conclusions Taeeumin tended to offer more to his/her responder in Ultimatum Game when facing the responder then not. Taeeumin seemed to feel more burnden when he/she was facing the responder while Soyangin or Soeumin didn't.

Objectives This case study was about a Taeeumin patient with advanced Parkinson's disease diagnosed as Dry-heat symptomatic pattern. In this study, we reported significant improvement of motor and non-motor symptoms of this patient after Sasang constitutional medicine treatment. Methods The patient was diagnosed with Taeeumin Dry-heat symptomatic pattern and treated with Taeeumin's constitutional medications and acupuncture. The primary outcome measure for this study is Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS) to assess the overall function of patient. Secondary outcome assessments include Global Assessment Scale(GAS), change of patient's sleep, stool and urine. Results and Conclusions The patient treated with Taeeumin's constitutional medications and acupuncture had reduction in UPDRS (specifically Part II, Part III and Part IV) and GAS of motor symptoms. Furthermore, patient's sleep, stool and urine were reported to be normal after treatment. In conclusion, this study shows that Sasang constitutional medicine can be effective treatment for Taeeumin patient with Advanced Parkinson's disease diagnosed as Dry-heat symptomatic pattern.

This study was aimed to report an significant improvement of urinary disturbance in overactive bladder patient using Soeumin's Sibimigwanjung-tang based on Sasang constitutional medicine. Methods A female overactive bladder patient with urinary disturbance including urgency, frequency, nocturia, tenesmus, weak stream was enrolled in this study. The patient was diagnosed as Soeum type greater-yin pattern and medicated with Sibimigwanjung-tang three times a day. Clinical improvement was evaluated with urination diary, International Prostate Symptom Score, Overactive Bladder Symptom Score, Numeric Rating Scale, and percentage of improvement compared to the day of hospitalization. Results Significant improvement was seen in urinary disturbance after 26 days of admission treatment. Also, symptoms of dyspepsia, coldness of hands and feet, and facial edema were improved. Conclusions This clinical case suggests that Sibimigwanjung-tang can be valuable option in treating urinary disturbance in overactive bladder within Soeum type greater-yin pattern.
