Objectives : The aim of this study is to make proof of availability for Sanghanron prescription. Methods : The study group comprised 80 Koreans, male:female ratio of 31:49, with mean age of 40.78 years. The SF-MPQ and PDI were checked hospitalized and discharged patients. Results : 1. The most uesd prescription is Galgeun-Tang(Gegen-tang) and the other 30 prescriptions were uesd. 2. Hospitalized patients, there was significant difference in SF-MPQ and PDI scores(P<0.05). 3. The treatment was effective to 72 patients out of 80 who had been hospitalized for less than 14 days. 4. Experimental group compared with Lee's thesis was significantly difference in 7 days of treatment, but the other compared were not significant difference. Conclusions : This data suggested that the Sanghanron prescription could be effective treatment about traffic accidental patients without surgical injury. Further study is needed about the effectiveness of Sanghanron prescription.
In this study, we investigated how prescriptions from "Sanghallon(傷寒論)", such as Oryeongsan(五笭散), Banhasasimtang(半夏瀉心湯), Dohaekseunggitang(桃核承氣湯), Jukyeopseokgotang(竹葉石膏湯), were applicated in Onbyeongjobyeon(溫病條辦). When applying prescriptions from "Sanghallon" onto Onbyeong(溫病), Odang had replaced warm, dry herbs with cool herbs which generate body fluid, considering general characteristics of onbyeong that may easily dry up and injure body fluid. In the case of Seuponbyeong(濕溫病), however, warm, dry herbs were also used, as well. Odang did not persist in the general characteristic of onbyeong, but composed prescriptions only based on pathological condition. From this, one can point out his precise thinking of Byeonjeung(辯證), and pragmatic nature of his study.
"Sanghanron(傷寒論)" can be approached through the understanding of the formulas. It is very important to correlate the efficacy of drugs and pathogenesis of syndrome. In this sense, the author examines the Paeoniae Radix Alba's efficacy. The Paeoniae Radix Alba[芍藥] used in Gyejitang(桂枝湯), Galgeuntang(葛根湯), Sogeonjungtang (小建中湯), Jagyakgamchotang(芍藥甘草湯) all have a similar effect. The Paeoniae Radix Alba supplies the tendon and blood meridian with bodily fluids, so it treats the stiffness and pain of the head and neck[頭項强痛], stiffness of the neck and back[項背强几几] and acute pain in the abdomen[腹中急痛] etc. Meanwhile, the Paeoniae Radix Alba treats difficulty in urination. It moistens the path to the excretion of urine included among drugs which increase digestion and transformation.
"Gyeongbangsilheomrok(經方實驗錄)" is a book that was written for the propagation of the thought of Gyeongbang(經方) theory in the early 20th century. Gyeongbang means the medicine in "Sanghanron(傷寒雜病論)" which was written by Jangjonggyeong(張仲景), who is known as a great doctor of ancient times in China. Gyeongbang had worked as a good model of medicine for a long time, but as time goes by, there appeared some physicians pointing out the limit of Gyeongbang and trying to overcome it. Through the effort like this, there gradually had appeared so many physicians carrying out the medical treatment which was getting out of the boundary of Gyeongbang. And There also had appeared a group of physicians, called Gyeongbangpa(經方派), opposing the opinion like this and defending the academic value of Gyeongbang. "Gyeongbangsilheomrok" had been estimated as a meaningful achievement of Gyeongbangpa tradition, and also had been regarded as a good book comprising copious basic theory about Bangje(方劑). The most significant assertion in this book is that it explained the Onbyeong(溫病) theory as a component itself in "Sanghanron(傷寒論)", which had been argued by many other medicians thinking that "Sanghanron" did not cover the treatment of Onbyeong. In regarding to this problem, "Gyeongbangsilheomrok" argued that the concept of Onbyeong in "Sanghanron" belongs to the category of Taeyangbyeong(太陽病) and also suggested that Galgeuntang(葛根湯) would be the main recipe for Onbyeong.
This is a study on the methods of decocting prescriptions in SANGHANRON (傷寒論), and after this, numbers of results have been obtained. SANGHANRON was written by Chang-Ki (張機) in the 2nd century, so it reflexes the usage of prescriptions of previous age indirectly. And gave affects on the methods of decocting prescriptions to the oriental medicine doctors of next generation.Berore Han-DYnasty(漢代), there were not so many publications connected with Oriental Medicine. Besides, some books couldn't hand down to next generation due to the gap of time and space. As time goes by, letters in medical books changed little by little, so contents connected with decocting methods changed too. The effects of decoction and herb tea can be changed by the flexibility of methods of decocting medicines, so we have to decide what kinds of decocting methods should be taken and adapted to patients by the most effective way.In SANGHANRON, there are many kiny kinds of boiling methods, so DHAMG-Ki selected the most appropriate method considering deree and position of disease and condition of patient. But nowadays, due to inconvenient procedure of boiling and taking medicines, some methos are not in common in clinical medicin. So this study was started to look back upon the changes of decocting prescriptions and gave deffort to find out the propriety of variation of boiling prescriptions. The common method of decocting prescriptions in SANGHANRON is boiling down all the herbs at the same time. Except the commom method, there are some kinds of other methods - boiling down twice the prescription, boiling down some special herbs earlier of later than other herbs, complicated or special boiling methods of extract, etc. These kinds of decoting methods simplified as time pass by, but this expected therapeutic value. So we have to distinguish the methods -though complicated and troublesome- in clinical medicine to make perfection more perfect in treating patients, and further studies have to be followed to prove the propriety of these complicated methods.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to understand the influence of Daesihog-tang on Taeeum-in's patholoy and prescription in "Donguisusebowon" of Sasang Constitutional Medicine. Methods The pathologic condition in which Daesihog-tang used and the relevant herbs and prescriptions in "Sanghanron", "Donguibogam", "Dongmuyoogo haedong", "Chobongwon", and "Donguisusebowon". Results and Conclusions 1. Daesiho-tang in "Sanghanron" was used to the symptom of Yangmyung disease merging with Soyang disease. In "Donguibogam", its indications were mainly used to the severe fever-symptom of Yangmyung disease and expanded to Onbyeong and so on. 2. The concept of Daesiho-tang in "Donguibogam" was changed into Hwanggeumdaehwang-tang in "Chobongwon", which can be used to treat Onbyeong with heat-dysenteric diarrhea, and severe fever of Taeeum-in. 3. The notion of combination between Daehwang and hwanggeum used in "Dongmuyoogo haedong" and "Chobongwon" was connected to Chungmongsukgondamhwan or Jogakhwanggeumdaehwang-tang in "Chobongwon". Especially, Jogakhwanggeumdaehwang-tang for Yeokkigammo and severe constipation was formed while the concept of Onbyeong in Hwanggeumdaehwang-tang' merged with the usage of Jogak and Daehwang or Yisunggugo-hwan. 4. Jogakhwanggeumdaehwang-tang influenced on the usage of Jogakdaehwang-tang for Yangdok and Onbyeong, while the usage of Chungmongsukgondamhwan was not found in "Donguisusebowon". 5. As a result, Daesiho-tang may be presented without usages for a specific patholoy in "Donguisusebowon" because it indirectly influenced on the concept of Yangdok and Onbyeong of Taeeum-in, and the formation of Jogakdaehwang-tang in "Donguisusebowon".
The results of researching Jang's use of herb remedies through his book "Uihakchungjungchamseorok(醫學衷中參西錄)" are as follows. 1. Jang Seoksun's medicine is based on "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", "Sanghanron(傷寒論)", "Sinnongbonchogyeong(神農本草經)". And through constant study he brought to perfection his own unique medical theory. 2. He introduced Western medicine, and united it with traditional Chinese medicine. He perfected the Chinese-Western medical theory, by Chungjungchamseo(衷中參西) which means 'roots in traditional Chinese medicine, reference in Western medicine'. 3. He thought Onbyeong(溫病) was not an independent category of disease, but included it into the category of Sanghan(傷寒). So he used modified prescription of "Sanghanron(傷寒論)" to treat Onbyeong(溫病). 4. He expanded the category of remedy uses by using various compounds, such as minerals and animal compounds. He has also developed substitute remedies.
Objectives : In this article, an analysis of the changing theory(從化理論) of Sameumsamyang(三陰三陽) and Pyobonjung(標本中) in some important medical books, and the historical contexts of those is investigated. Methods : Primary literatures about the changing theory were searched by key words of Sameumsamyang and Pyobonjung in main medical texts, and then analyses and selecting of significant documents have followed. Results : The application of the changing theory to clinical treatment has been mainly done in the process of comprehension and practice about "Sanghanron(傷寒論)". Getting out of simple explanation about meaning of paragraphs in "Sanghanron", the clinical application has been expended to detail drug instruction and prescription managements. Conclusions : The changing theory of Sameumsamyang and Pyobonjung has been actively applied to supporting clinical treatment historically, not recognized merely as a ideal theory.

"Kenjurok" is a set of medical records of Todo Yoshimasu, a Japanese docotr in the eighteenth century, who suggested that all diseases have originated from a poison, which is his own pathological term describing abnormal states of the body, The 54 records in "Kenjurok" were analyzed in statistical respects, including gender ratio, demographic distribution of patients, types of diseases, and herbal prescriptions used. Among 54 cases, male patients outnumbered female, as much as four times. The patients were quite evenly distributed according to ages. In 23 cases out of 54, abdomen palpation data were mentioned, Majority of the prescriptions used were originated from Sanghanron(傷寒論:Treaties on Febrile Diseases)/Geumgeyoryak(金匱要略: Synopsis of Golden Chamber). In frequency of use of prescriptions, however, showed somewhat different result, that is although Sanghan/Geumge prescriptions were used most often, esoteric prescriptions handed down in his family also composed significant part. The speculations derived from these statistical results are: Although Todo favored abdommen palpation to locate the poison and to decide a prescription, the proportion of abdomen palpation was not as high as expectation, He did use prescriptions not only in Sanghan/Geumge, but also other diverse prescriptions, rather often than not, which are regarded unique Japanese traditional prescriptions including poisonous minerals such as mercury and arsenic.
Objective : We considered Astragali Radix(黃耆) can be used to cure serious atopic dermatitis. so we treated this patient with prescriptions contained Astragali Radix(黃耆). By this case, we got effective results and report this case and index of choice Astragali Radix(黃耆) Method : After treatment with prescription contained Astragali Radix(黃耆), we observe the changes and analyze results. Results : 1. Atopic dermatitis can be cured with Astragali Radix's efficiency on Sanghanron(傷寒論) 2. We considered Astragali Radix(黃耆) can be used when Chronic damage to the nasal mucosa is appeared by rhinoscopy and Sneezing, runny nose that lasts all year round is shown Conclusion : Gaeji-Ka-Hwangki-Tang(桂枝加黃耆湯) has most effect on this case. So, We need to study combination Astragali Radix(黃耆) with Glycyrrhizae Radix(甘草) and the efficacy of herbs belonged to leguminosae.
