동해안 도루묵, Arctoscopus japonicus의 연령과 성장 (Age and growth of the sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus in the East Sea of Korea)

  • The age and growth of the sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus were investigated from samples of the eastern sea danish seine and gill net fishery in the East Sea of Korea from February, 2004 to December, 2007. Ages were determined from annuli in otoliths and annuli were formed between December and February once a year. Also, the main spawning period was estimated to be between December and January, thus rings were considered to be annual marks. For the relationship between fork length and total weight, a multiplicative error structure was assumed because variability in growth increased as a function of the length. The relationship between fork length and total weight were $TW=0.0083FL^{3.01}(R^2=0.966)$ for female and $TW=0.0079FL^{3.04}(R^2=0.969)$ for male. The variability in growth was constant as a function of age, revealing an additive error structure. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters estimated by a non-linear method were $L_{\infty}=31.6cm$, K=0.266/year, $t_0=-0.835$ years for female and $L_{\infty}=27.7cm$, K=0.273/year, $t_0=-0.806$ years for male. Growth at age between male and female had a significant difference(P<0.001).

도루묵, Arctoscopus japonicus의 산란용 조림초 개발 (Development of artificial spawning seaweeds of the sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus)

  • To develop the artificial spawning seaweeds of the sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus, the effects by the material type of artificial spawning seaweeds were investigated at Dongsan port in Gangwon-do from December 2006 to March 2007. Sargassum fulvellum, S. horneri, rope and net were used as materials for artificial spawning seaweeds, and the most effective thing among them was S. fulvellum. A. japonicus began to attach the egg mass to artificial spawning seaweeds when sea temperature dropped below 10${^{\circ}C}$ in December, spawned heavily when it was around 8${^{\circ}C}$ in January, and completed the behavior when it started to increase over 10${^{\circ}C}$ in February. The hatching period of eggs was estimated to be about 60 days. The middle position in artificial spawning seaweed had the highest number of egg masses and the diameter of the egg mass ranged from 25mm to 62mm. Based on the result for the effects, the artificial spawning seaweeds of A. japonicus were developed and it is possible to use them to form seaweed forests or spawning grounds of other species.

한국 연근해 도루묵, Arctoscopus japonicus의 자원량 추정 (Biomass estimation of sailfin sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus, in Korean waters)

  • Available ecological and fishery data of sailfin sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus, was examined to ascertain its population dynamic parameters in Korean waters. The instantaneous coefficient of total mortality (Z) was estimated to be 1.361/yr, and annual survival rate (S) was 0.256. The estimated instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality (M) was 0.482/yr, and the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) for recent years was calculated to be 0.879/yr from Z and M values. Age at first capture was estimated to be 1.958 years. These parameters, in conjunction with catch landings data between 1991 and 2008, were used to estimate annual biomass using a biomass-based cohort analysis. The biomass of A. japonicus was estimated at approximately 7,600 mt in 1991, but since 1994 decreased to below 4,000 mt by 2001. After 2002 they started to increase gradually, and showed the level of more than 5,000 mt in recent years.

  • Distribution pattern and fishing conditions of sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus in the East Sae were explored using catch and catch per unit effort (CPUE) by eastern sea Danish seine and coastal gill net fisheries from 2004 to 2008. A. japonicus was one of major target species for the eastern sea Danish seine and coastal gill net fisheries in the East Sea, which were caught from April to October for the eastern Danish seine, and from October to December for the coastal gill net, respectively. In recent, the distribution and centroid of fishing ground moved northward, as seawater temperature increased. The species spawned in the coastal areas of Gangwon, northern East Sea, during winter, started to move to deeper water after spawning from spring, extended widely from Gangwon to Ulsan, southern East Sea, during summer, and migrated back to the spawning ground off Gangwon during autumn.

  • 말쥐치 및 도루묵을 보다 효과적으로 이용하기 위하여, 축육과 유사한 텍스쳐를 가진 어육단백질농축물 저장 중의 품질 안정성 및 이용방안에 대하여 검토하였다. 제품은 함기포장하여 상온에 저장하여도 복수성, TBA값 및 갈변도 등에 큰 변화없이 90일간 품질이 안정하게 유지되었다. 햄버어그 및 튀김어단을 만들때 쇠고기 대신에 축육과 유사한 텍스쳐를 가진 어육단백질농축물을 50%까지 섞어도 맛, 냄새 및 텍스쳐 등에 별다른 손색이 없었다.

쌀코지가 도루묵(Arctoscopus japonicus) 식해의 발효특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Rice Koji on the Fermentation Characteristics of the Sik-hae from Sailfin Sandfish Arctoscopus japonicus)

  • This study was conducted with a view toward enhancing the industrial utilization of a male sailfin sandfish Arctoscopus japonicus based on its application in the preparation of Sik-hae, a Korean traditional fermented fishery product prepared using hard-boiled rice and enzymatic malt sprouts. As an alternative to rice and malt sprouts, we evaluated the utility of rice Koji for Sik-hae fermentation by investigating the physicochemical changes that occur during fermentation. The sailfin sand fish Sik-hae fermented with 10% or 20% rice Koji was found to show similar fermentation characteristics to the control fermentation with 20% hard-boiled rice and 4% malt sprouts, with respect to acid production, texture profile, and the softening of bones during the entire fermentation period. In particular, compared with the control, the addition of 10% rice Koji reduced the dehydration of Sik-hae and increased the content of free amino acids, which contributed to preventing a marked reduction in pH during fermentation. Accordingly, 10% rice Koji is proposed as a viable alternative enzymatic agent for the preparation of Sik-hae, which can contribute enhancing the desired properties of this traditional food product.

Mitochondrial DNA와 microsatellite marker 분석을 통한 한국과 일본에 서식하는 5 지역의 도루묵(Arctoscopus japonicas)에 대한 유전학적 유연관계 분석 (Genetic Relationships of Sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicas) from Five Different Areas of Korea and Japan Based on Mitochondrial DNA and Microsatellite Analyses)

  • 도루묵은 우리나라 동해에서 어획되는 상업적으로 중요한 수산자원으로 동해안의 자원회복관리 대상어종이며, 자원량의 회복 및 보전과 관리가 필요한 어종이다. 하지만 우리나라 도루묵 자원의 관리를 위한 유전학적 분석에 따른 연구는 매우 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 mitochondrial DNA의 Cytochrome b (Cyt b) 유전자 서열과 5개의 microsatellite marker의 유전자형을 토대로 우리나라 동해안 도루묵과 일본 도루묵의 유전적 다양성과 집단 구조를 분석하여 유전학적 유연관계를 파악하고, 도루묵 자원의 보전과 관리를 위한 과학적 자료를 제공하기 위해 실시하였다. 한국 3개 지역(독도, 동해, 감포)과 일본의 2개 지역(북해도와 에리모)에서 채집된 총 83개 개체의 mtDNA Cyt b 영역을 분석하여 27개의 haplotype을 확인하였다. 유전적 다양성은 에리모에서 가장 높고 감포에서 가장 낮았다. Pairwise FST값과 유전적 거리, UPGMA와 주성분분석, AMOVA test 및 structure 분석 결과, 한국의 동해안 도루묵 집단 간 유전적 차이는 거의 없었으나 일본 도루묵 집단과는 유의적인 차이가 나타났으며(p<0.05), 한국의 동해안 집단과 일본의 집단으로 그룹을 형성하며 구분되는 유연관계를 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 확인된 도루묵의 유전적 특성 및 집단 간 유연관계는 중요한 수산유전자원으로서의 도루묵에 대한 중요한 과학적인 근거자료가 될 것이며, 앞으로 도루묵의 보존, 평가 및 이용에 활용 가능한 정보를 제공할 것이라 사료된다.

한국 동해산 도루묵 (Arctoscopus japonicus)의 성성숙과 산란 (Sexual Maturation and Spawning in the Sandfish Arctoscopus japonicus in the East Sea of Korea)

  • Gonad development in the sandfish Arctoscopus japonicus was investigated using a histological method. Specimens were collected monthly from April 2003 to March 2004, in the East Sea of Korea. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) of females began to increase in August, reached a maximum in November, and declined sharply in December. By contrast, in males, the GSI began to increase in June and reached a maximum in August. The annual reproductive cycle of A. japonicus can be divided into four successive stages in females: the early growing (January-March), late growing (April-August), ripe and spent (September-November), and recovery (December) stages. Males passed through early growing (January-April), late growing (May-July), ripe and spent (August-November), and recovery (November-December) stages. These results indicate that the spawning season was from October to December. The egg diameter of mature oocytes was 3.12$\pm$0.02 mm. The relationship between fecundity (F$_e$) and body length (BL) was F$_e$=0.4693BL$^{2.6825}$. Fecundity ranged from 483-2,254 eggs in a body length of 14.3-22.9 cm and increased with body length. The body length at 50% maturity was 14.80 cm, which corresponded to an age of 2.40 years.

한국 동해에서 채집된 도루묵(Arctoscopus japonicus)의 식성 (Feeding Habits of the Sandfish, Arctoscopus japonicus in the East Sea, Korea)

  • 도루묵의 식성을 조사하기 위해 강원도 삼척 연안해역에서 기선저인망을 이용하여 2003년 4월부터 2004년 3월까지 매월 채집된 2,115개체의 도루묵 위내용물을 분석하였다. 도루묵의 가장 중요한 먹이생물은 단각류(Amphipoda)였으며, 다음으로 곤쟁이류(Mysidacea), 두족류(Cephalopoda), 어류(Pisces)가 중요한 먹이생물이었다. 그 밖에 난바다곤쟁이류(Euphausiacea), 난(Eggs), 이매패류(Bivalvia), 선형동물(Nematoda), 해초류(Seagrass) 등도 도루묵의 위내용물 중에서 발견되었으나, 그 양이 매우 적었다. 도루묵은 성장함에 따라 먹이생물 조성의 변화를 보였는데, 가장 작은 크기군인 체장 9~10 cm 크기군에서는 곤쟁이류와 단각류가 중요한 먹이생물이었다. 도루묵의 크기가 더욱 증가함에 따라 체장 16~23 cm 크기군에서는 단각류의 점유율은 더욱 증가하였으며, 두족류와 어류의 점유율이 증가하였다.
