  • This paper formulates a dynamic monitoring and control model with a machine state by quality variations in a single lot production system. A monitoring model is based on estimate of machine state obtained using control theory. The model studied in this paper has a great advance from a point of view the combination between quality control (Sampling, Control Chart) and automatic control theory, and can be extended in a several ways.

  • This paper features about the modeling and design of a fast output sampling feedback controller for a smart Timoshenko beam system for a SISO case by considering the first 3 vibratory modes. The beam structure is modeled in state space form using FEM technique and the Timoshenko beam theory by dividing the beam into 4 finite elements and placing the piezoelectric sensor/actuator at one location as a collocated pair, i.e., as surface mounted sensor/actuator, say, at FE position 2. State space models are developed for various aspect ratios by considering the shear effects and the axial displacements. The effects of changing the aspect ratio on the master structure is observed and the performance of the designed FOS controller on the beam system is evaluated for vibration control.

  • In this paper, the hybrid state space self-tuning control technique Is studied within the framework of fuzzy systems and dual-rate sampling control theory. We show that fuzzy modeling techniques can be used to formulate chaotic dynamical systems. Then, we develop the hybrid state space self-tuning fuzzy control techniques with dual-rate sampling for digital control of chaotic systems. An equivalent fast-rate discrete-time state-space model of the continuous-time system is constructed by using fuzzy inference systems. To obtain the continuous-time optimal state feedback gains, the constructed discrete-time fuzzy system is converted into a continuous-time system. The developed optimal continuous-time control law is then convened into an equivalent slow-rate digital control law using the proposed digital redesign method. The proposed technique enables us to systematically and effective]y carry out framework for modeling and control of chaotic systems. The proposed method has been successfully applied for controlling the chaotic trajectories of Chua's circuit.

  • Six soil subsampling methods were evaluated with explosive compounds-contaminated soils to quantify the variance associated with each method. The methods include modified grab sampling, simplified ripple splitting, fractional shoveling, coning & quatering, degenerate fractional shoveling, and rolling & quatering. All the methods resulted in significantly lower CV (coefficient of variation) of 1~5%, compared to common grab sampling that gave 8~98% of CV, possibly due to the reduction of grouping and segregation errors described by Gy sampling theory. Among the methods, simplified ripple splitting tends to result in lower explosive compounds concentrations, while the rolling & quatering gave the opposite result. Fractional shoveling method showed the least variance and the highest reproducibility in the analysis.

  • This paper deals in the study of the estimation of the parameters of Erlang distribution based on rank set sampling and some of its modifications. Here we considered Maximum Likelihood (ML) and the Bayesian technique to estimate the shape and scale parameter of Erlang distribution based on RSS and its some modifications such as ERSS, MRSS, and MRSSu. The derivation for unknown parameters of Erlang distribution is well presented using normal approximation to the asymptotic distribution of ML estimators. But due to the complexity involves in the integral, the Bayes estimator of unknown parameters is obtained using MCMC method. Further, we compared the MSE of estimation in different sampling schemes with different set sizes and cycle size. A real-life data application is also given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed scheme.

  • The evolution of silica aggregate particles in coflow diffusion flames has been studied experimentally using light scattering and thermophoretic sampling techniques. The measurements of scattering cross section from $90^{\circ}$ light scattering have been utilized to calculate the aggregate number density and volume fraction using with combination of measuring the particle size and morphology through the localized sampling and a TEM image analysis. Aggregate or particle number densities and volume fractions were calculated using Rayleigh-Debye-Gans and Mie theory for fractal aggregates and spherical particles, respectively. Of particular interests are the effects of flame temperature on the evolution of silica aggregate particles. As the flow rate of $H_2$ increases, the primary particle diameters of silica aggregates have been first decreased, but, further increase of $H_2$ flow rate causes the diameter of primary particles to increase and for sufficiently larger flow rates, the fractal aggregates finally become spherical particles. The variation of primary particle size along the upward jet centerline and the effect of burner configuration have also been studied.

  • Fractal theory has been adopted as an effective tool for modelling complex and irregular natural phenomena facing in the fields of Computer Science, Engineering, Medical, Climatology and so on. In this paper, we presents an algorithm which enhances the performance of the triangular prism method(TPM) which has been widely used for fractal dimension extraction of natural terrains and images. For this, existing sampling methods are analyzed and a new sampling method which takes their merits is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is tested on fractal terrain maps and its performance is compared with that of other methods.

  • This study investigates the direct and indirect effects, mediated by audit committee quality, of managerial ownership, institutional ownership, and profitability on intellectual capital (IC) disclosure. The object observed of this study is companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the 2014-2018 period that are classified as high intellectual capital-intensive industries. Based on the sampling method, purposive sampling, 51 companies were selected as samples. This study used path analysis techniques with IBM SPSS version 25 to study the direct and indirect influences of managerial ownership, institutional ownership, and profitability toward IC disclosure. The results of this study show that managerial ownership, profitability and audit committee quality have a significant positive effect on IC disclosure whereas institutional ownership has significant negative effect on IC disclosure. This study also provides empirical evidence, supported by the sobel test, that the audit committee quality is able to mediate the effect of institutional ownership and profitability on IC disclosure. However, the audit committee quality is not able to mediate the effect of managerial ownership on IC disclosure. These findings develop and strengthen the results of prior studies related to the implementation of signaling theory and agency theory in devoting more understanding about IC disclosure.

  • This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity, spiritual leadership, and work-life balance and its impact on innovative behavior through the mediating effect of employee engagement on the state-owned sharia bank of Central Java Province. The total sample of this study is 226 respondents taken from state-owned sharia bank in 6 Regencies/Cities in the former Karisedenan of Central Java. Samples are taken using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique is using the division of regions based on clusters (cities) and is carried out using a purposive sampling method. The results indicate that the indirect influence of all independent variables on innovative behavior through the mediating effect of employee engagement is found to be significant. This study views employee engagement from the perspective of religiosity-based social exchange theory so that religious values in the interaction relationship can be fairly applied and respected by the employees of the state-owned sharia bank. Managers can socialize the importance of spirit behavior to employees so that it can be their everyday attitude and becomes their guide for work. Leaders can become role models in straightening intentions while working as well as conditioning the conscience to always think positively at work by strengthening work engagement in sharia banking institutions.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyse factors related to the health promotion behavior or the basis of theory of reasoned action(TRA). Methods: 509 residents in the city of Kyunggi-do were selected through multistage random sampling. A structured questionnaire was developed or the basis of Triandis model and collected by interviewing. Results: Expectation toward act and social normative influence and age showed significant relationship to health promotion behavior, Also, facilitating factors, affective attitude, education level are indirectly related to health promotion behavior. Conclusions: The result suggest that TRA is useful in understanding the mechanism of health promotion behavior.
