This study examined the mechanisms of lead transport in the groundwater system and those of irregular detections in groundwater in Door County, Wisconsin. During the spring recharge period in 1991, water-level movement and water-quality change were monitored from two monitoring wells equipped with three piezometers each and from five house wells, respectively. Water-level responses to recharge events were fast with a relatively short lag time ranging from 3 to 10 days, indicating that recharge of groundwater occurs through the high hydraulic conductivity (K) zones in the Silurian dolomite aquifer system. Lead was detected only on particles filtered from groundwater, but not in dissolved state. Concentrations ranged from 0.2 to $7.1{\mu}g/mg$, converted into the total lead concentration in groundwater ranging from $0.3{\mu}g/l$ to $4.7{\mu}g/l$. A lag time between recharge events and peak particle movement at the sampled wells was estimated to range from 19 to 22 days. Due to the particulate nature of lead in groundwater, only the wells connected with the high K zones detect lead, causing the spatial variation. In a given well, lead concentration varies at different sampling times due to the variation in the initial amounts of lead-carrying particles introduced into the groundwater system during recharge events, the lag in particle transport and the dispersion of lead-carrying particles along the advective flowpaths.
The dynamics and seasonal succession of dinoflagellate community, and their correlations with environmental parameters were investigated during the period from April, 1986 to March, 1987 at 6 selected stations in Masan Bay, Korea. The dinoflagellate standing crops varied extensively with months and stations: ranging from 44 to 2,789,900 cella/ l at surface layer and from 52 to 165,714 cells/ l at bottom layer, respectively. The distribution of standing crops by size class of dinoflagellate species showed that a group of 20-um size class was predominant throughout the present survey, since the most of dominant species have belonged to the size category. Among dominant species, Gyrodinium fissum was most dominant throughout the year in all sampling stations, particulary in June. Scripsiella trochoidea was predominant in May, Protoperidinium bipes and Prorocentrum minimum from June to September, Prorocentrum triestinum, P micans and Ceratium fusus from September to December, and Heterocapsa triquetra from December to April. The stepwise multiple regression analysis between dinoflagellate and environmental parameters revealed that salinity, nitrate-N, pH, and transparency were correlated with the variations of standing crops of dinoflagellate.
Major factors affecting water quality in rivers are transportation, input of pollutant loads and kinetic transformation of pollutants. Government level decision makings on water quality management are based on steady state water quality modeling. However, it is more than often that such a steady state assumption is far from real situations in rivers. Therefore, it is unavoidable to have modeling errors in water quality modeling especially for steady state modeling for longer period of time. Authors attempted to identify sources of errors in results of steady state models and thus tried to find out ways to minimize those errors. Three water quality models, QUAL2E (Brown et al., 1983), QUAL2K (Chapra et al., 2006) and CAP (Seo and Lee, 2000) were applied to the lower stream of the Geum River. $BOD_5$ and COD tend to underestimate observed data while TN and TP showed relatively smaller errors. QUAL2E model provided best calibration results for BOD5 and TP and QUAL2K model showed best calibration results for TN. Since these errors are only relative values, it was difficult to conclude which model is better performing in certain situations. The most probable reasons for errors in water quality modeling are; 1) inappropriate consideration on flow characteristics, 2) lack of information on incoming pollutant load and 3) inappropriate location of sampling for water quality analysis.
Studies are needed to determine the standard norms for sleep/activity patterns in new born baby and there have been no established reports of discrepancy of sleep/activity patterns in new born baby among various races. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the NCASA(Nursing Child Assessment Sleep Activity Record) would be suitable to evaluate and to provide the basic resources for a Korean model of sleep/activity patterns during the new born baby, and to provide a basis for nursing intervention for mothers of new born baby. The subjects of this study were 38 normal new born baby who visited the postpartum care center and two general hospitals located in pusan from January 1 to April 28, 2000. They all agreed to participate in this study. The method of data collection was through convenient sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires including demographic data, birth hi story, and general informations concerning the infant, mother and family. The instrument of this study was the NCASA translated by the Korean parent Child Health Academic Association. The collected data were analysed by mean. standard deviation, frequency, and percentage by use of SPSS/PC. The conclusions obtained from this study are summarized as follows: 1. The mean amount of daytime sleep was 10.23 hours. The mean amount of nighttime sleep was 5.53 hours. The mean amount of total daily sleep was 15.77 hours. The mean of the longest sleep period was 4.49 hours. The mean regularity of daytime sleep was 49.69%. The mean regularity of nighttime sleep was 66.98%. The mean regularity of total daily sleep was 55.81%. The mean frequency of nighttime wakenings was 3.09 times. 2. The mean amount of daytime awake periods was 6.12 hours. The mean amount of nighttime awake periods was 2.11 hours. The mean amount of daily total awake periods was 8.23 hours. The mean of the longest awake periods was 3.76 hours. 3. The mean frequency of daytime feeding was 5.71 times. The mean frequency of nighttime feeding was 2.65 times. The mean frequency of total daily feeding was 8.36 times. The mean frequency regularity of feeding was 62.50%. 4. The mean amount of a mother's day time was 16.36 hours. The mean amount of a mother's night time was 7.64 hours. In conclusion, The new born baby slept more during the daytime compare than nighttime and more active during the daytime. On the other hand. although nighttime sleeping the length of the mother was normal, but sleep was interrupted by the infant over 3 times on average. Therefore this research study will contribute to nursing practice and nursing research by its implication through postnatal educational nursing programs at hospital and nursing intervention programs that would help individual caring of early infant mothers at home.
Spatio-temporal patterns in the zooplankton communities, physicochemical environmental factors, and dominant species were examined in Camak Bay from April, July, September, and November, 2003. A total of 40 taxa were sampled with a mean abundance of total zooplankton ranging from $270{\sim}1,803inds/m^3$. The most abundant species was Acartia erythraea, followed by Eurytemora pacifica, Podon polyphemoides, A. omorii, and Paracalanus parvus s. 1 during the study period. Multivariate analysis revealed significant differences in community structure among three regions: the middle part of the sampling area (B), sites 1, 2 (A) and other sites (C). The number of species and diversity (H') varied significantly among the three regions (p<0.05), but no differences in the mean abundances were observed (p>0.05). In order to investigate factors affecting the correlations between the abundance of dominant species, all zooplankton and environmental factors ware calculated using a correlation analysis. Of these, the abundance of dominant taxon showed positive correlation with seawater temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen (p<0.05). In statistical analysis showed that the environmental factors influencing the variation of the communities ere predominantly temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the stress and coping level as a result of dysmenorrhea which was experienced by girls. For the collection of data, the girls from the 1st to the 3rd grade in middle school in Seoul were selected through a random sampling technique. The survey was conducted from the 1st. to the 14th of June, 1991 by the use of questionnaires made after a pilot study. The final subjects for analysis were restricted to only those who had experienced me~arche, the number of which totaled 1,131. The stress, coping level, and other variables, were tested and analysed by descriptive statistics (eg, frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation), t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficients. The obtained results are summarized as follows. 1. The chronological start for menarche was at a mean age of 13.1 The respondents who had experienced menarche numbered $70.9\%$ of the 1st grades and $96.2\%$ of the 2nd grades in middle school, otherwise the starting age for menarche was in the 4th grade in primary school. 2. Their menstrual cycle and period were longer than adult's one. The number of students studied who had experienced dysmenorrhea during their menstrual cycle were 860, and 650 of those revealed that their mothers or sisters had experienced similar problems. 3. The subjects who were late or head left early rather than being absent from school every menstruation cycle were more stressful. The results are thought to show that the girl's perception of dysmenorrhea seems to be more sensitive than adult's one. 4, A significant negative correlation was found between the perception of menstrual flow and strees level. It means that an increase in the stress of dysmenorrhea was associated with decreased menstrual bleeding. The degree of hypochondrical concern assessed by the girls was significantly correlated to stress and coping level. When the girls perceived high stress as a result of dysmenorrhea, they worried about their physical health more. The above results lead us to the suggestion that the starting point of early education with a school program is appropriate for the 4th grade in primary school. Especially if the girls in middle school should be required to give the information about correct knowledge and sufficient self -care management of menstruation monthly, if this could be implemented the loss in school days among the students due to dysmenorrhea would be minimized with more ease.

Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of WBVE on biomechanical factor analysis of drop landing jumps before and after a four week training program. Methods: Participants were divided into two group: VEG (n=5, age: $25.7{\pm}2.3yrs$, height: $170{\pm}7.6cm$, weight: $69.3{\pm}8.3kg$) and OEG (n=5, age: $24.6{\pm}3.4yrs$, height: $164{\pm}4.9cm$, weight: $58.8{\pm}9.2kg$). Ten infrared cameras (Vicon, UK) with a sampling rate of 100 Hz were used in two GRF measurement systems (AMTI, USA). Results: The variability of the center of mass was largest at the falling phase, and there was a great risk of injury when landing after the jump. Second, the jumping heights of the VEG (vibration exercise group) were higher than those of the OEG (only exercise group), regardless of training period. Third, there were significant differences in the hip joint P1 (flexion) and knee joint P2 (extension) between the exercise groups after 4 weeks of training. However, there were no significant differences among training periods or phases. Conclusion: regardless of training periods, the VEG showed increased jump height compared with the OEG, but the consistency between the jump height and the lower joint power could not be determined.
In this study, we investigated the statistical occupations and interannual variations of land cover types over Northeast Asian region using the 12 years (2001-2012) MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) land cover data sets. The spatial resolution and land cover types of MODIS land cover data sets are 500 m and 17, respectively. The 12-year average shows that more than 80% of the analysis region is covered by only 3 types of land cover, cropland (36.96%), grasslands (23.14%) and mixed forests (22.97%). Whereas, only minor portion is covered by cropland/natural vegetation mosaics (6.09%), deciduous broadleaf forests (4.26%), urban and built-up (2.46%) and savannas (1.54%). Although sampling period is small, the regression analysis showed that the occupations of evergreen needleleaf forests, deciduous broadleaf forests and mixed forests are increasing but the occupations of woody savannas and savannas are decreasing. In general, the pixels where the land cover types are classified differently with year are amount to more than 10%. And the interannual variations in the occupations of land cover types are most prominent in cropland (1.41%), mixed forests (0.82%) and grasslands (0.73%). In addition, the percentage of pixels classified as 1 type for 12 years is only 57% and the other pixels are classified as more than 2 types, even 9 types. The annual changes in the classification of land cover types are mainly occurred at the almost entire region, except for the eastern and northwestern parts of China, where the single type of land cover located. When we take into consider the time scale needed for the land cover changes, the results indicate that the MODIS land cover data sets over the Northeast Asian region should be used with caution.

Passive samplers have been used for personal, indoor, and outdoor air monitoring of VOCs at ppb concentrations in community and office environments. The path length of modified passive sampler was shortened, so it was intended to increase an uptake rate. The performance of the modified 3M 3500 organic vapor monitor(OVM) as a tool for assessing exposures to toxic air pollutants in nonoccupational community environments was evaluated using combined controlled test atmospheres of six selected target volatile organic compounds(VOCs): benzene, methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE), chloroform, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, tetrachloroethylene, and toluene. The experiments were conducted by exposing the dosimeters to concentrations of $50{\sim}100{\mu}g/m^3$ on six face velocity(0.00, 0.02, 0.06, 0.12, 0.20, 0.30 m/sec) for 24 hours. If the uptake rate was increased, that means that we could use the passive sampler more effectively. The uptake rates were increased linearly according to reduce the path length. Although the diffusion path length was shortened, the change of uptake rate was within ${\pm}25%$ of theoretical value, indicating that the modified passive sampler(TM) can be effectively used over the range of concentrations and environmental conditions tested with a 24-h sampling period if the face velocities were over 0.12 m/s for 6 components of VOCs. But when the face velocities were less than 0.12 m/s, uptake rates were reduced more than expected values. So, the passive sampler with the shortened path length should be used at indoor or outdoor environment where the face velocity should be over about 0.10 m/s. If the path length was shortened more, the uptake rate was more effected by starvation.
Objectives : In order to provide basic data necessary for developing oral health education plane for school continued oral health education by understanding knowledge and activities of oral health. Methods : This study was performed against 324 students at 5th grade of 2 elementary schools in Iksan-si, Jellabuk-do selected through convenience sampling, who were in mixed dentition period that might experience dental caries of permanent tooth. Results : As results, For the knowledge level on oral health by questions, it was found that the case that the elementary school students had correct knowledge on oral health was 'chocolates, snacks, and candies were foods that might often cause dental caries' and 95.8% of the students recognized it well. It was found that for 'must do toothbrushing before going to bed', 'during toothbrushing, I clean my tongue', and 'Proper time necessary for toothbrushing is about 3 minutes', 89.3%, 93.2%, and 89.3% of the students knew the, respectively. When oral health knowledge level by groups was divided into 3 groups and observed, they were classified into Low (0-4 points), Mid (5-7 points), and High (8-10 points). It was found that the knowledge level of each group was High 64.1%, Mid 33.9%, and Low 2.0% and it was identified that the high group took the largest ratio. It was suggested also for oral health knowledge level depending on their father's academic background that there was a statistically significant difference in the group higher than university graduate(p<.05). It was found for oral health knowledge level depending on parents' dental condition that an answer that both parents were good was high and there was a statistically significant difference. But post-analysis resulted that there was no apparent difference among groups. It was found that the ratio of respondents who answered for toothbrushing method 'toothbrush should be moved and rotated downward for the upper teeth and upward for the lower teeth to clean the teeth and gum' were 33.2% of male students and 29.4% of female students and showed statistically significant difference (p<0.05). It was found also that the ratio of respondents who answered to use a toothbrush for about 3 months' were 29.4% of male students and 25.5% of female students and showed statistically significant difference (p<0.05). Conclusions : Oral health program through the elementary school students and their parents for the development of proper oral health care education programs continue to be made should be considered.
