Objectives : Iridoid glycoside, swertiamarin is a well known bioactive component found in Swertia japonica Makino (SJ). In this study, we tried to optimize a suitable method which would extract swertiamarin effectively. Methods : Extraction of SJ was carried out by various conditions of time (5 - 60 min), temperature ($30-70^{\circ}C$), solvent (from non-polar to polar), and ratio of solvnet / sample (10 : 1 - 40 : 1) using ultrasonic extractor. Swertiamarin in SJ extracts was quantified by high performance liquid chromatography - Phtodiode array detector (HPLC-PDA) using C18 column and the analytical procedure was validated by evaluation of specificity, range, linearity, accuracy (recovery), precision (intra- and inter day variability), limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantification (LOQ). Results : An efficient extraction condition for swertiamarin in SJ was optimized using sonicator extraction (temperature $40^{\circ}C$, solvent 20% methanol, solvent / sample (20 : 1), and time 10 min. Analytical procedure was optimized by HPLC-PDA using isocratic solvent system of acetonitrile and water (9 : 91), and the method was validated in regard to linearity (correlation coefficient, $R^2$ > 0.9999), range ($50-1000{\mu}g/mL$), intra- and inter-precision (RSD < 5.0 %), and recovery (99 -103 %). LOD and LOQ were 0.051 and $0.155{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. Conclusion : An optimized method of extraction for swertiamarin in SJ was established through conditions of diverse extraction and the validation result indicated that the method is suited for the determination of swertiamarin in SJ.

We examine the HI gas kinematics and distributions of galaxy pairs in group or cluster environments from high-resolution Australian Square Kilometer Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) WALLABY pilot observations. We use 32 well-resolved close pair galaxies from the Hydra, Norma, and NGC 4636, two clusters and a group of which are identified by their spectroscopy information and additional visual inspection. We perform profile decomposition of HI velocity profiles of the galaxies using a new tool, BAYGAUD which allows us to separate a line-of-sight velocity profile into an optimal number of Gaussian components based on Bayesian MCMC techniques. Then, we construct super profiles via stacking of individual HI velocity profiles after aligning their central velocities. We fit a model which consists of double Gaussian components to the super profiles, and classify them as kinematically cold and warm HI gas components with respect to their velocity dispersions, narrower or wider 𝜎, respectively. The kinematically cold HI gas reservoir (M_cold/M_HI) of the paired galaxies is found to be relatively higher than that of unpaired control samples in the clusters and the group, showing a positive correlation with the HI mass in general. Additionally, we quantify the gravitational instability of the HI gas disk of the sample galaxies using their Toomre Q parameters and HI morphological disturbances. While no significant difference is found for the Q parameter values between the paired and unpaired galaxies, the paired galaxies tend to have larger HI asymmetry values which are derived using their moment0 map compared to those of the non-paired control sample galaxies in the distribution.
Background: Crabgrass (Digitaria ciliaris, Poaceae) is a globally distributed weed, including in Afro-Eurasia, America, and Australia. As a highly gregarious plant, crabgrass is an important habitat for a diverse array of insects, and a potential habitat for agricultural pests. To compare the insect communities associated with the crabgrass community, insects were sampled using sweep sampling (100 sweeps per sample) at five sites, including Daejeon (Daejeon and Gap rivers), Anseong, Namhae, and Inje, with a focus on the Daejeon River. Results: A total of 5,888 individual insects belonging to eight orders, 42 families, and 115 species were collected from the five sites. Both the number of species and individuals of Hemiptera were the highest at all of the sites. In the present study, 73% of the insect population fed on D. ciliaris as a host plant. The dominant species in the D. ciliaris community was Laodelphax striatellus (Delphacidae), being ubiquitous at all the sites which showed a high abundance of rice pests in the communities and the suitability of D. ciliaris as an alternative host plant for them. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index was highest in Inje on 17 September (2.88), and the Chao1-bc diversity index was highest in the Gap River on 5 September (80). The sampling efficiency of 100 sweep samples (sample coverage) was calculated to be as high as 90%. The results of the samples taken from September to November in the Daejeon River showed that the number of species and individuals decreased gradually over time, and the number of dominant species decreased sharply between September and October. Similarity analysis indicated that sampling dates that were closer together yielded sampled assemblages with higher faunal similarity. In addition, in each sampling, the difference in the minimum temperature during the two-week period prior to sampling and faunal similarities were negatively correlated. Conclusions: This study provides foundational data that could enhance our understanding of insect diversity in D. ciliaris. The data can facilitate ecological conservation and management of Korean grasslands generally, as well as identification of potential pests that may disperse from D. ciliaris communities to nearby farmland.
High frequency peakers (HFPs) are promising candidates for young active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Their small physical scale (< 1 kpc) and radio spectrum peaked at high frequency (> 5 GHz) are suggestive that it has been only about $10^2-10^3$ years since a central massive black hole in their host galaxies was launched. Until recently however, long-term monitoring radio observations at frequencies which are high enough to cover the true peak of HFP candidates were rare. Therefore, previous HFP samples are often contaminated by blazars, which are highly variable, hence may show a similar radio spectrum as HFPs depending on the observational epoch. In this work, we challenge to identify genuine young AGNs by monitoring HFP candidates at high radio frequencies. We performed single-dish monitoring of 19 candidates in 18 epochs over 2.5 years at 22 and 43 GHz using the Korean VLBI Network (KVN). Also, using KaVA, a combined array of the KVN and the VERA in Japan, we carried out 22 GHz VLBI observations of two HFPs and one blazar selected from our sample in order to compare their parsec scale (milli-arcsecond scale) morphology. HFPs are expected to have double/triple features, so called compact symmetric objects, which are scaled-down versions of extended radio galaxies, while blazars typically show core-jet morphology. We discuss the properties of AGNs at their very early evolutionary stage based on the results of the KVN and KaVA observations.
In this work, a A/D converter is implemented to obtain 8bit resolution at a conversion rate of 10Msample/s for video applications. Proposed architecture is designed low power A/D converter that pipelined architecture consists of flash A/D converter. This architecture consists of two identical stages that consist of sample/hold circuit, low power comparator, voltage reference circuit and MDAC of binary weighted capacitor array. Proposed A/D converter is designed using $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS technology The SNR is 76.3dB at a sampling rate of 10MHz with 3.9MHz sine input signal. When an 8bit 10Msample/s A/D converter is simulated, the Differential Nonlinearity / Integral Nonlinearity (DNL/ INL) error are ${\pm}0.5/{\pm}2$ LSB, respectively. The power consumption is 13mW at 10Msample/s.

The aim of this study was to compare the amount of spinosin in the 70% ethanol extracts of non-processed Zizyphi Semem (ZS) and processed ZS by roasting using a high-performance liquid chromatography equipped with photodiode array detector. Separation of the spinosin was used $SunFire^{TM}$$C_{18}$ analytical column ($5{\mu}m$, $4.6{\times}150mm$) using two mobile phase consisting of distilled water and acetonitrile, both with 1.0% (v/v) acetic acid. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min and injection volume was $10{\mu}L$. Calibration curve of the spinosin was y = 22339.45x+483.99 in tested concentration range ($1.28-20.00{\mu}g/mL$) and correlation coefficient was 1.0000. In non-processed ZS sample, the amount of the spinosin was 0.94 m/g, while, the amount of the marker compound in processed ZS samples were 0.66-1.10 mg/g.
In recent years, a miniature spectrometer has been extensively developed due to the marriage of fiber optics and semiconductor detector array. This type of miniature spectrometer has advantages of low price and robustness due to the capability of mass production and no moving parts are required such as lenses, mirrors and scanning monochromator. These systems are ideal for use in teaching labs, process monitoring and field analyses. A portable near infrared (NIR) system has been developed for qualitative and quantitative analysis. This system includes a tungsten halogen lamp for light source, a fiber optics connected a light source, and a sample module to the microspectrometer, The size of spectrometer can be as small as 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm x 0.1 cm. Wavelength ranges can be chosen as 360-800 nm, 800-1100 nm and 1100-1900 nm depending on the type of detector. The software consists of various tools for multivariate analysis and pattern recognition techniques. To evaluate the system, long and short-term stability, wavelength accuracy, and stray light have been investigated and compared with conventional scanning type NIR spectrometer. This developed system can be sufficiently used for quantitative and qualitative analysis for various samples such as agricultural product, herbal medicine, food, petroleum, and pharmaceuticals, etc.
The electric power subsystems (EPS) of most remote sensing satellites consist of a solar array as a source of energy, a storage battery, a power management and control (PMC) unit and a charge equalization unit (CEU) for the storage battery. The PMC and CEU use high frequency transformers in their power modules. This paper presents a design, implementation and testing results of a high frequency transformer for the EPS of satellite applications. Two approaches are used in the design process of the transformer based on the pre-determined transformer specifications. The transformer is designed based on an ETD 29 ferrite core. The implemented transformer consists of one center-tapped primary coil with eleven center-tapped secondary coils. The offline calculation results and measured values of R, L for transformer coils are convergence. A test circuit for measuring the transformer parameters like voltage, current and B-H hysteresis was implemented and applied. The test results confirm that the voltage waveforms of both primary and secondary coils were as desired. No overlapping occurred between the control signal and the transformer, which was not saturated during testing even during a short circuit test of the secondary channels. The dynamic B-H loop characteristics of the used transformer cores were measured. The sample test results are given in this paper.
