Information collection systems and applications in a ubiquitous environment has emerged as a leading issue in transportation and logistics. A productive application example is a traffic information collection system based on probe vehicles and wireless communication technology. Estimation of hourly OD pairs using probe OD data is a possible target. Since probe OD data consists of sample OD pairs, which vary over time and space, computation of sample rates of OD pairs and expansion of sample OD pairs into static OD pairs is required. In this paper, the authors proposed a method to estimate sample OD data with probe data in Jeju City and expand those into static OD data. Mean absolute percentage difference (MAPD) error between observed traffic volume and assigned traffic volume was about 22.9%. After removing abnormal data, MAPD error improved to 17.6%. Development of static OD estimation methods using probe vehicle data in a real environment is considered the main contribution of this paper.
As a fundamental input to the travel demand forecasting, OD has been always a concern in obtaining the accurate link traffic volume. Numerous methods were applied thus far without a complete success. Some existing OD estimation techniques generally extract regular samples and expand those sample into population. These methods, however, leaves some to be desired in terms of accuracy. To complement such problems, research on estimating OD using additional information such as link traffic volume as well as sample link use rate have been accomplished. In this paper, a new approach for estimating static origin-destination (OD) using probe vehicle has been proposed. More specifically, this paper tried to search an effective sample rate which varies over time and space. In a sample test network study, the traffic volume error rate of each link was set as objective function in solving the problem. As a key result the MAE (mean absolute error) between expanded OD and actual OD was identified as about 5.28%. The developed methodology could be applied with similar cases. Some limitations and future research agenda have also been discussed.
Dynamic origin-destination (OD) trip matrix has been widely used for transportation fields such as dynamic traffic assignment, traffic operation and travel demand management, which needs precise OD trip matrix to be collected. This paper presents a quasi-dynamic OD matrix estimation model and applies it to real road network for collecting the dynamic OD matrix. The estimation model combined with dynamic traffic assignment program, DYNASMART-P, is based on GPS embedded in PDA, which developed for collecting sample dynamic OD matrix. The sample OD matrix should be expanded by the value of optimal sampling ratio calculated from minimization program. From application to real network of Jeju, we confirm that the model and its algorithm produce a reasonable solution.
To improve the performance of estimation, the research that uses additional information addition to traffic count and target OD with additional survey cost have been studied. The purpose of this paper is to improve the performance of OD estimation by reducing the feasible solutions with cost-efficiently additional information addition to traffic counts and target OD. For this purpose, we Propose the OD estimation method with sample link use proportion as additional information. That is, we obtain the relationship between OD trip and link flow from sample link use proportion that is high reliable information with roadside survey, not from the traffic assignment of target OD. Therefore, this paper proposes OD estimation algorithm in which the conservation of link flow rule under the path-based non-equilibrium traffic assignment concept. Numerical result with test network shows that it is possible to improve the performance of OD estimation where the precision of additional data is low, since sample link use Proportion represented the information showing the relationship between OD trip and link flow. And this method shows the robust performance of estimation where traffic count or OD trip be changed, since this method did not largely affected by the error of target OD and the one of traffic count. In addition to, we also propose that we must set the level of data precision by considering the level of other information precision, because "precision problem between information" is generated when we use additional information like sample link use proportion etc. And we Propose that the method using traffic count as basic information must obtain the link flow to certain level in order to high the applicability of additional information. Finally, we propose that additional information on link have a optimal counting location problem. Expecially by Precision of information side it is possible that optimal survey location problem of sample link use proportion have a much impact on the performance of OD estimation rather than optimal counting location problem of link flow.

In order to properly evaluate ITS services exposed in SMART Highway project, a confident dynamic origin-destination (OD) is inevitably needed. This paper used WAVE communication information as a part of call and response (C&R) communication which constitutes core part of the technology for constructing OD. This information includes node information and vehicle information (e.g., latitude and longitude) as well as trajectory data and sample path volume date calculated using node information and vehicle information. A procedure developed to construct a dynamic OD and to validate OD is consist of 1) making toy network and one-hour 00 (random distribution), 2) collecting link information and vehicle information, 3) constructing five-minute OD, and 4) validating estimated OD result using traffic volume and travel time simultaneously. The constructed OD is about 84.79% correct within less than 20% error range for 15min traffic volume, and about 85.42%, within less than 20% error rate of 15 min travel time. Some limitations and future research agenda have also been discussed.

We report the results of the surface chemistry of deuterized ethanol exposed Zircaloy-4 (Zry-4) surfaces with various amount of $C_2D_5$OD exposures at 190 K. This system was examined with Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD) techniques. In TPD study, $D_2$ was evolved at two different desorption temperature regions accompanying with broad desorption background. The lower temperature feature at around 520 K showed first-order desorption kinetics. The high temperature desorption peak at around 650 K shifted to lower desorption temperature as the exposure of $C_2D_5$OD increased. The Zr(MNV) Auger peak shifted about 2.5 eV from 147 eV to lower electron energy followed by 300 L of $C_2D_5$OD dosing. This implies metallic zirconium was oxidized by deuterized ethanol adsorption. After stepwise annealing of the oxidized Zry-4 sample up to 843 K, the shifted Zr(MNV) peak was gradually shifted back to metallic zirconium peak position. After the sample was heated to 843 K, the oxygen content near the Zry-4 surface was recovered to clean surface level. The concentration of carbon, however, was not recovered by annealing the sample.
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detection of antibodies to reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) at single serum dilution was standardized. REV HI, one of the Korean field isolates, was inoculated into chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cells and was harvested from the culture fluids and cells after 10 to 12 days. Viruses were purified by centrifugation at the $107,000{\times}g$ for 12 hours on 20, 30, 45% (W/V) sucrose gradient. Virus specific fraction was collected and used as ELISA antigen. To standardize ELISA, the optimal concentration of coating antigen ($1{\mu}g/well$) and conjugate (1/1000) was determined by corrected OD (OD value of positive serum-OD value of negative serum) and P/N ratio (OD value of positive serum/OD value of negative serum). To calculate ELISA titer by measuring absorbance at 1/400 single serum dilution, serum titrations were carried out for various sample sera together with standard positive and negative sera. The observed titers of serum samples were plotted against sample/positive (s/p) ratios at 1/400 serum dilution. From the above data, the ELISA titers could be calculated by the equation of $log_{10}$ ELISA titer = 2.2763 ($log_{10}$ s/p) + 3.482 (r = 0.93). For evaluating the sensitivity, the standardized method were compared with conventional agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test method using serum samples collected from REV infected field chicken flocks. Fifty seven of 60 samples (95%) were positive for REV by ELISA, whereas only 11 (18.3%) samples were positive by AGID test. This results suggested that the ELISA tests developed in this study could be used for detection of antibodies to REV with high sensitivity.
Critical parameters affecting sensitivity and specificity of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) for detection of antibodies to avian infections bronchitis virus(IBV) were standardized. By adopting the optimized conditions an equation calculating ELISA antibody titers from the observations at single serum dilution was formulated. The purified antigen of IBV Mass-41 strain was dispensed into polystyrene microplate wells at a concentration of 300ng per well($100{\mu}l$) and the plates were coated by completey drying at $37^{\circ}C$. Diluted chicken serum and horseradish peroxidase conjugated goat anti-chicken IgG were added in order in $100{\mu}l$ volumes per well and allowed to react for 30 minutes each at room temperature. Just before use and after each reaction the plates were washed three times with distilled water. Finally o-phenylenediamine solution was added as an enzyme substrate. After incubation for another 15 minutes at room temperature absorbances were read at 492nm. Hyperimmune serum against Mass-41 strain was used as internal reference positive(IRP) serum. After repeated titration of IRP and negative serum, a constant titer of IRP was determined. Serum titrations were carried out for various sample sera together with IRP and negative sera and the observed titers of sample sera were corrected by reflecting the ratio between observed and constant titers of IRP serum. These corrected titers of the sample sera were plotted against sample/positive(S/P) OD ratios. All the OD's measured in the serum titrations were also corrected by substracting negative serum OD. The following equation was formulated from the above data; $Log_{10}$ ELISA titer=$5.568({\log}_{10}S/P)+4.161$ Thus it was possible to calculate ELISA titer by measuring absorbance at 1/400 single serum dilution. Titer measured by cross ELISA tests employing Mass-41 strain and three local IBV isolates were similar. These results suggest that the ELISA tests standardized in this study can be used for evaluating not only vaccinal immunity but also for infection status against fields IBV's.

Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) has become increasingly used as a rapid, accurate method of evaluating some chemical constituents in cereal grains and forages. If samples could be analyzed without drying and grinding, then sample preparation time and costs may be reduced. This study was conducted to develop robust NIRS equations to predict fermentation quality of corn (Zea mays) silage and to select acceptable sample preparation methods for prediction of fermentation products in corn silage by NIRS. Prior to analysis, samples (n = 112) were either oven-dried and ground (OD), frozen in liquid nitrogen and ground (LN) and intact fresh (IF). Samples were scanned from 400 to 2,500 nm with an NIRS 6,500 monochromator. The samples were divided into calibration and validation sets. The spectral data were regressed on a range of dry matter (DM), pH and short chain organic acids using modified multivariate partial least squares (MPLS) analysis that used first and second order derivatives. All chemical analyses were conducted with fresh samples. From these treatments, calibration equations were developed successfully for concentrations of all constituents except butyric acid. Prediction accuracy, represented by standard error of prediction (SEP) and $R^2_{v}$ (variance accounted for in validation set), was slightly better with the LN treatment ($R^2$ 0.75-0.90) than for OD ($R^2$ 0.43-0.81) or IF ($R^2$ 0.62-0.79) treatments. Fermentation characteristics could be successfully predicted by NIRS analysis either with dry or fresh silage. Although statistical results for the OD and IF treatments were the lower than those of LN treatment, intact fresh (IF) treatment may be acceptable when processing is costly or when possible component alterations are expected.
