  • At a time of growing importance of safety management in the social welfare facility by the increase of social welfare facilities, this study analysed safety perceptions about facility management, facility conditions, and facility structure and arrangement. This study sample consisted of 204 service providers and service users in 12 social welfare facilities. T-test and ANOVA were used to find the group differences among facility types. The findings were as follows. Firstly, safety perceptions of the service providers were significantly higher than those of service users in terms of facility management, and facility structure and arrangement. Secondly, in terms of facility types, the respondents in the family service center had lower safety perceptions than the respondents in other service in all three areas. Thirdly, facilities that are of 10 years or older had higher safety perceptions than the respondents of facilities that are 6 to 10 years old in the area of facility management, and facility structure and arrangement. Fourthly, in regard to building heights, the respondents in 3 to 4 story facilities had statistically higher safety perceptions than respondents in 1 story facilities. Finally, looking at the relationship between floor area and safety perceptions, safety perceptions of the respondents of less than $400m^2$ facilities or $600m^2$ and more facilities were significantly higher than those of $400m^2{\sim}$ less than $600m^2$ facilities.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the conventional culture method, enzyme immune method and the PCR method using species-specific primer in the analysis on the Salmonella spp. found in domestically distributed pet foods. For the study, Salmonella spp. were detected from 175 samples. From the conventional culture method and the PCR method, two samples (jerky and corn gluten) were determined as positive. Also, from the enzyme immune method, one sample (corn gluten) was test-positive. The study revealed that application of the PCR method with species-specific primer allows better distinguishment between the species of the strain collected from the samples than the conventional culture method and/or the enzyme immune method.

  • The primary cooling piping of HANARO is classified as safety class 3, seismic class 1 and quality class Q. This piping as safety related feature has been designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with ASME SEC. Ⅲ, DIV 1, Class 3. In October of 2000, the first step of the in-service inspection for this piping was carried out in accordance with ASME SEC. XI. This describes the results of the Inspection including the preparation of inservice inspection plan and inspection method. It is verified through the results that the safety related piping is maintained the mechanical and structural Integrities.

  • This problem in this paper concerns the determination of safety stock for multi-echelon invenetory system. In this model the criterion is to minimize system safety stock subject to a service level constraint and expected annual total cost. Then, safety stock is determined by minimizing expected annual total cost and satisfying given service level. This expected annual total cost is obtained by expected total inventory holding cost plus the expected total stockout cost. Numerical example is given in a three-echelon inventory system. The results obtained by the use of the Hill Algorithm.

  • IMO introduced e-Navigation concept to improve the efficiency of ship operation, port operation, and ship navigation technology. IMO proposed sixteen MSPs (Maritime Service Portfolio) applicable to the ships and onshore in case of e-Navigation implementation. In order to meet the demands of the international society, the system implementation work for the Korean e-Navigation has been specified. The Korean e-Navigation system has five service categories: the S2 service category, which is a ship anomaly monitoring service, is a service that classifies emergency levels according to the degree of abnormal condition when a ship has an abnormality in ship operation, and provides guidance for emergency situations. The navigation safety module is a sub-module of the S2 service that determines the emergency level in case of navigation equipment malfunctioning, engine or steering gear failure during navigation. It provides emergency response guidance based on emergency level to the abnormal ship. If an abnormal condition occurs during the ship operation, first, the ship shall determine the emergency level, according to the degree of abnormality of the ship. Second, an emergency response guidance is generated based on the determined emergency level, and the guidance is transmitted to the ship, which helps the navigators prevent accidents and not to spread. In this study, the operational concept for the implementation of the Korean e-Navigation system is designed and the concept is focused on the navigation safety module of S2 service.

  • This paper proposes an approach to analyzing the relationship between technology and services, and to identifying promising service areas for technology-based firms with the analysis of business model (BM) patents. First, BM patents and technology patents are collected and classified into their relevant categories, respectively. Second, patent citation analysis is conducted to analyze the linkage and impacts between each technology and service field at macro level. Third, as a micro level analysis, patent co-classification analysis is employed to identify the interrelationships among specific technology and service areas. Finally, the promising service areas for technology-based firms seeking service areas for diversification is investigated with portfolio analysis. The working of the proposed approach is provided with the help of a case study of IT and mobile services. The proposed approach could guide and help managers of technology-based firms to discover the opportunity of the diversification to new areas in emerging service fields.
