Because suicide accidents sometimes were happened in grand bridges over rivers or sea water recently, it will be necessary that prevention measures be made preparation in advance from now on. Additional safety facilities must be needed in addition to existing safety facilities in such a way as this prevention measure. In order to make cable-stayed bridge safe on wind for additional safety facilities, main girder models with added safety facilities for wind-tunnel tests was made, and wind tunnel experiments was carried out to measure aerodynamic force coefficients. Also, wind-resistant analyses of 3D cable-stayed bridge were performed on the basis of wind-tunnel test results. From the wind experiments, force coefficients of main girder with added safety facilities were assessed, and it is known that there are little possibility of galloping and rotation of steel main girder. Finally, from the wind resistant analyses, it was concluded that wind-resistant safety of cable-stayed bridge was secured on wind speed 60.6m/sec.

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the disaster safety awareness scale for high school students. For this purpose, the previously developed disaster safety awareness scale and related prior research was analyzed. Questionnaire data was collected from March 22 to May 25, 2021 from 1054 students (male: 569, female: 485) in the first, second, and third grades of 5 high schools in 3 cities. Through the process of revising, supplementing, and reviewing the items extracted through preliminary research and preliminary test together with experts and students, a final disaster safety awareness scale consisting of 24 items was developed. This scale consists of four sub-factors: 'disaster prevention', 'disaster response A', 'disaster response B', and 'disaster recovery'. Good reliability and validity were secured through exploratory and confirmatory analyses. The significance of this study is that it laid a basic and objective foundation for high school students' disaster safety awareness research by developing a validated scale in a situation where the development of disaster safety awareness scales for high school students was still insufficient. It can be used as useful data for fire safety education as well as a psychological measurement tool for fostering fire safety awareness.

Construction workers are engaged in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards, such as falling, unguarded machinery, or being struck by heavy construction equipment. Despite extensive research in building information modeling (BIM) for safety management, current approaches, detecting safety issues after design completion, may limit the opportunities to prevent predictable and potential accidents when decisions of building materials and systems are made. In this respect, this research proposes a proactive approach to detecting safety issues from the early design phase. This research aims to explore accident precursors and integrate them into BIM for tracking safety hazards during the design development process. Accident precursors can be identified from construction incident reports published by OSHA using a text mining technique. Through BIM-integrated accident precursors, construction safety hazards can be identified during the design phase. The results will contribute to supporting a successful transition from the design stage to the construction stage that considers a safe construction workplace. This will advance the body of knowledge about construction safety management by elucidating a hypothesis that safety hazards can be detected during the design phase involving decisions about materials, building elements, and equipment. In addition, the proactive approach will help the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry eliminate occupational safety hazards before near-miss situations appear on construction sites.
Purpose: This study was aimed to develop a WBI(Web Based Instruction) program on safety for 3rd grade elementary school students and to test the effects of it. Method: The WBI program was developed using Macromedia flash MX, Adobe Illustrator 10.0 and Adobe Photoshop 7.0. The web site was http://www.safeschool.co.kr. The effect of it was tested from Mar 24, to Apr 30, 2003. The subjects were 144 students enrolled in the 3rd grade of an elementary school in Gyungju. The experimental group received the WBI program lessons while each control group received textbook-based lessons with visual presenters and maps, 3 times. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, and ${\chi}^2$test, t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA. Result: First, the WBI group reported a longer effect on knowledge and practice of accident prevention than the textbook-based lessons, indicating that the WBI is more effective. Second, the WBI group was better motivated to learn the accident prevention lessons, showing that the WBI is effective. As a result, the WBI group had total longer effects on knowledge, practice and motivation of accident prevention than the textbook-based instruction. Conclusion: We recommend that this WBI program be used in each class to provide more effective safety instruction in elementary schools.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to introduce the assessment model for industrial accidents prevention policy. Methods: 10 years of industrial accidents data are explored through EDA approach. Case control study is tried in order to assess the effectiveness of the measures taken by Korea Safety and Health Agency, Civilian, and 'Ministry of Employment and Labor'. Propensity score matching is used to match the characteristics of the two groups compared, and then case control study is again conducted. Next, logistic and Poisson regressions are used to assess the risk factors. Results: According to case control study involvement of 'Korea Safety and Health Agency' and 'Ministry of Employment and Labor' were not effective, but Civilian was. Propensity score matching leads to the same conclusion. Poisson regression reveals the impact of the risk factors on the industrial accidents. Industrial accidents occur more often as the number of employees grows. Mining, farming, fishing, 'transportation storage and telecommunication' and forestry have a higher level of industrial accidents but service industry has a lower level. It is odd that more involvement of Korea Safety and Health Agency, Civilian, and Ministry of Employment and Labor means more industrial accidents. Conclusion: 'Korea Safety and Health Agency', Civilian, and 'Ministry of Employment and Labor' seem to visit those industries with more industrial accidents.

Construction accidents are very serious comparing to its workers. These kind of accidents consist in the particularity of construction. The accident prevention task in construction requires both into immediate approach and longer range approach of instruction, training and education. Information concerning each individual accident, if the information of investigation has been done well, it provides information of prevention accident. At this point, this paper by examining 800 cases of serious accident researched by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency from Jan. 1992 to Dec. 2000 specifically targeting apartment and building construction develops the construction information system to suggest the proper information of construction safety.
Korea's elevator industry is one of the world's eighth-largest industrial sectors and the third largest in the world by new installations. This year, the number of elevators has exceeded 700,000, and the number of new installations is 30,000-40,000 every year. However, the news of elevator-related accidents is reported continuously through the media and the accident rate is not decreasing. In particular, among the recent accidents related to elevators, accidents related to elevator workers are increasing, causing social problems. This year, the National Assembly's Environmental Labor Relations Commission's National Auditors lost five lives a year and 12 elevator workers were killed in fall and stenosis accidents during the installation, maintenance and replacement of the elevators for about two years since 2018. It took place to adopt the representatives of four domestic elevator companies as witnesses. An elevator worker is a collective term for workers involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, replacement, maintenance, inspection, management, and supervision related to the elevator industry, and the related accidents are called elevator worker accidents. Analysis of elevator-related accidents in the past has shown that the fault of the user accounted for 70% of the total, and the fault of the worker accounted for about 2.5%, and the accident occurred to the user or the user due to carelessness of the worker during the lift-related work. Currently, elevator-related accidents are reported by the Korea Elevator Safety Agency under Article 48 of the Elevator Safety Management Act under the Ministry of Interior and Safety. If deemed necessary for the prevention and prevention of recurrence of an elevator accident, the cause and condition of the elevator accident may be investigated. However, the current draft law is limited only to elevators after installation inspection, and is separated from the Ministry of Employment and Labor's data on accidents occurring in the manufacturing and installation stages related to the elevator industry. This study analyzes the recent safety accidents of elevator workers and prepares safety measures to prevent them through the risk analysis, and also draws out the problems and improvements of the current elevator worker accident investigation to find the elevator worker accident rate that is on the increase trend.
Objective: The aim of this study was to comprehend major concepts and flows that penetrate international guides or standards for developing a quantitative possibility measure of human errors that can be committed or omitted in nuclear power plants. Background: For a few past decades, lots of researchers have studied the effect of stress and/or fatigue which can result in human errors. Thus, this study was carried out on the assumption that much of them were summarized as an international guidelines or manuals, if any, for human error prevention. Method: A literal survey was conducted with materials and documentation published by international organizations related with safety and standardization, such as ISO, OSHA, NIOSH, NASA, and so on with special reference to human error prevention through management of work stress and fatigue as major Performance Shaping Factors. Results: International guides or management manuals on stress or fatigue management for human error prevention hardly were found, and most researches seemed to concentrate on one of them individually. Conclusion: There was few vestige of research that studied both concurrently. However, it was verified that not a few researches have been tried to develop quantitative measures to estimate probability or job characteristics for human error prevention and/or performance downgrading. Application: The results of this study would help to develop a causal model of human errors due to work stress and fatigue that can result in unexpected accidents in nuclear power plant.
Children's accident is a largely preventable public health problem. Little is known. however, about population-based incident and outcome of pediatric accident. From 1997.9 through 1998,8. admission data from emergency center in I city were collected. 1418 patient from 0 through 13 years of age were selected. All children with unintensional accidental problems were identified through coded sheet which categorizes epidemiologic characteristics. The specific purposes of this study are analysis about the characteristics of pediatric accidents. And it aims to produce the basic data necessary for accident prevention policy development. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The number of male children$(62.6\%)$ were higher than female children$(37.4\%)$ 2. The age group from 1 to 3 years represents the highest proportion$(45.4\%)$ of every accidents except on traffic accident. 3. The highest proportion of accident were as follows occured during the June-August$(34\%)$, Sunday$(22.6\%)$, and 17-21 p.m. $(37.2\%)$ 4. The main causes of accident include general trauma$(70.9\%)$, environmental accident$(l6.8\%)$. and traffic accident$(l2.1\%)$, 5. Preschool age group represents more than half$(65.4\%)$ of traffic accident. 6. environmental injury includes burns $(46.6\%)$, foreign body$(43.6\%)$, exposure to poisonous materials$(6.3\%)$. and bite(3.3) This results could be used to develope prevention programs and assist in accident prevention system development. And also these data substantiate that accident prevention program decrease safety-related injury rate in preschool age group must be concentrated on enhancing access to a system to have a significant effect. Furthermore, it is necessary for accident prevention. So several suggestions are described here: 1. Development of parent's educational program for accident prevention and safety education should be done actively. 2. Home safety surveillance system should be initiated. 3. The initiation of children's accident report system could be contribute the analysis and the reduction of accident.
This study aims to derive the problems of firefighting and safety measures for architectural heritage with a wooden structure in rural areas and present their improvement measures. To identify those problems, this study grasped the features of the cultural heritage through the building structure and environment of a wooden Catholic secondary station in Dangjin, and analyzed fires that may occur and safety factors. As a result, although the mission station is an important cultural property in terms of its history, place and local identity, it had problems with disaster prevention systems such as vulnerable safety including fire and difficulties in fire recognition and initial firefighting. Therefore, this study concluded through its review and analysis that a disaster prevention system such as stronger firefighting is needed; that fire fighting facilities suitable for the characteristics of the secondary station with a wooden structure should be installed and a main player should be arranged in fire prevention activities to improve the fire prevention system of the cultural property; and that as most mission stations are located in rural areas, it is necessary to more thoroughly protect wooden-structure secondary stations from natural disasters such as forest fire and to improve fire response measures.
