Signal fire was a communication system which deliver urgent news by smoke and light. It informed the condition of the border to the central government and the military base rapidly. This research was to analyze the border signal-fire which is the main facility of military protective duty for safety of sea side in chosun dynasty. The results of this research were described separately as follows. 1. The border signal-fire has three types of facility layout, The majority was one-site, near two-site, separate type. The majority was near two-site type. 2. Plan configuration of signal-fire stand which is separated with circle, oval, round-rectangular and rectangular type roughly was constructed with circle type generally. Four types of signal-fire stand was observed in southern and western sea side impartially. However, in eastern side, circle type of signal-fire stand was mainly found. Therefore, regional characteristics could be considered partially. 3. The height of signal-fire stand was about 8~10m. The diameter of combustion chamber on the signal-fire stand was 2~3m in circle type, and the dimension of rectangular type was about $1.9{\times}1.9{\sim}3.2{\times}3.0m$. 4. Building base that protect ground moisture and infilteration of rainfall was found in 10 border singal-fire, the height of it was about 0.3m~2.5m.
The eminent brother doctors Cho-Gaek Hur (Young Hur) and Cho-Sam Hur (Eon Hur) represent the medical tradition of the southeastern region of Mt. Jirisan incluiding Sancheong. This study investigated and examined their herediatary testimonies and medico-historical facts described in the literature tale, genealogy and family collection of works. At an early age after their family run away to the southern region from the harm of political struggle, they gave up taking the highest-level state examination to recruit ranking officials and set their heart on learning medicine. Their choice of medicine was the second best plan for the survival of their family and descendents from the influence of their ancestors who suffered from the party strife during the late Joseon Dynasty. The case is a good example of the deliberate action of the nobility intellectuals since the late Goryeo and early Joseon dynasties to who made attempts to have the minimum elegance and cause while securing livelihood after they have been collapsed politically. The tale of Cho-Gaek and Cho-Sam is a typical story of eminent doctors which combined reality and fiction about the persons who had outstanding medical skills. In the tale, the elder brother was good at herbal prescriptions and the younger brother was good at acupuncture, contrasting the treatment of administrative internal medicine and insertive acupuncture treatment. It shows that the prepositions for the choice of the treatment method for the public during that period were safety and fast efficacy. In their old age, they wrote a book titled Jinyangsinbang. Another Jinwoosinbang is estimated as a different kind of copy, which was a medical writing from experience that derived from the same original book as Jinyangsinbang. written by Cho-Gaek Hur and it is a valuable medical material that possesses the distinct features of the local medicine during the late Joseon Dynasty. Most of the contents are variations in application using the basis of Dongeuibogam, forming the roots of the traditional Korean medicine in Sancheong region together with the medical activities of the Hur brothers.
In the existing method to design geosynthetic reinforced embankment, the required strength of reinforcements is determined by vertical stress only rather than strain. This strength is not in accord with tensile strength that behaves as reinforcement in earth structures. The reinforcement and adjacent soil on the failure plan behave in one unit at the initial stress phase but they make a gap in strain as stress increases. This issue may cause a big impact as a critical factor on geosynthetic reinforcement design in earth structures. The quantitative analysis on strain behavior was performed with a PET Mat reinforced embankment on soft ground. From this study, several outstanding discussions are found that tensile strength of reinforcement governs the failure of embankment when the soil stress is greater than failure stress. Also the optimum required tensile strength of geosynthetic reinforcement(Tos) should be determined by stress, displacement, displacement gap and safety factor of soil-PET Mat at the location of PET Mat.

Safety of residents could be considered and then increased when we plan, design, and operate a city. In Korea, CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) is currently being applied to new towns. However, it is not systemized and neither efficient, for there are no constraint provisions, and the foreign cases are not specifically customized to the current situation of the country. This means, the introduction of CPTED is an indispensable fact, but there are limits to the budget aids and actual application, for there is no legal base to support it. This study, therefore, aims to find the limits from analyzing related laws and regimes, administrative regulations, and applied cases, and to deduct improvement plans based on examined foreign cases. In this Study, the supporting system of foreign CPTED related laws and regulations was analyzed around the cases of England and U.S.A, and based on that information, the present condition and limits of CPTED related laws and regulations of Korea were deducted. As a result of this study, there were no constraint provisions to apply the design guidelines to actual planning, and there were limits on backup aid and actual application due to the lacking of analyzing the relevant area. Also, an acceptable framework must be arranged by the revision of laws and ordinances to compel the system, and link it with the CPTED certification system which will revitalize the whole system.

To cope with increasing of vegetables and flowers consumptions, horticulture facilities have been modernized. Korea government recently announced construction plan of new greenhouse complex at reclaimed land. However wind characteristics of reclaimed land is totally different from those of inland, wind pressure on greenhouse built in reclaimed land should be carefully evaluated to secure structural safety on the greenhouse. In this study, as a first step, wind pressure coefficient and local wind pressure coefficient on even-span greenhouse were measured using wind tunnel test. ESDU was adopted to realize wind characteristics of reclaimed land such as wind and turbulence profiles. From the wind tunnel test, when wind direction was 0 degree, it was concluded that KBC2009 standard underestimated scale of wind pressure coefficients at roof area of greenhouse whereas NEN-EN2002 standard underestimated those at every surface of greenhouse. When wind direction was 90 degree, both standards did not well reflect the characteristics of wind pressure distribution. From the analysis of local wind pressure coefficients according to wind direction conditions, design of covering, glazing bar of greenhouse where large effects of the local wind pressure were estimated should be well established. Wind pressure coefficients and local wind pressure coefficients according to parts of the greenhouse were finally suggested and these results could be practically used for suggesting new design standards of greenhouse.

The obstructive factors of the smoothly running traffic are street improvement, major commercial buildings like department stores, the large markets, the stadiums, the concert buildings, a lot of steady cars for using parking lot. The accident of cost many lives and traffic congestion from these factors cause the result that it enables to pay the enormous expenditure socially and financially. For solving these problems, Japan adopts the Traffic Flagger System in 1972. This task has the effects of improving traffic flow in the traffic jam and mitigating risk of car accidents as leading pedestrians and vehicles thereby the task carries into effect in the area where the accident took place. Moreover, this security task is rapid growth after adopting and 59.6%(5,317) of the whole security company 8,924 in Japan based on December 2009 registered as the traffic leading security business. While South Korea is demanded of the measures about obstructive factors of the smoothly running traffic, it represents the limitation of the system and the safety management. Thus the current study suggests the we will analyze South Korea's actual condition and then discuss the law and education system for a realizable plan reached the public-Private cooperation for adopting Japan's Traffic Leading Security System.

The purpose of this study is deriving proper plan which is improving functionality of three-way intersection in two-way road by using shoulder. Alternatives of this study were considered as installation of yield lane and application of TWLTLs (Two-Way Left-Turn Lanes). Case studies to utilize alternatives were limited to national and local roadways which is wider than 11 meters due to be required 3 lanes. Under various traffic conditions such as traffic volume of each direction and left-turn, alternatives were analyzed by simulation. As a results, application of TWLTLs was better than installation of yield lane in terms of improving rate (8.0% vs. 3.7%). Application of TWLTLs is supposed to better alternative, however enough driver education is required to improving safety because it is different with existing driving pattern and/or behaviors. Some limitations and future research agenda have also been discussed by on-site inspections.

It is true that the dependency on import is currently high in case of the safety checkup system of domestic airplanes, and it is at the point of time that localization of HUMS for small airplanes is required. In this study, the design factors were selected for the lightweight of HUMS for small airplanes by using Pro-Engineer which is a design tool and Abaqus. 9 models were made through experiment plans with Taguchi method for this, and the each model for weight lightening was selected through vibration analysis and shock analysis while in operation with experiment profile values. After fabricating HUMS, it was verified that as a result of experiment with the same profile values as the analysis, there was similarity between the analyzed values and values of the experiment. As a result of performing weight lightening which is the purpose of the study, electronic performance for small airplanes is assured and a design plan reducing 15 % weight compared to the targeted weight was deduced. Besides, it could be verified that the light weight model satisfied the maximum allowable displacement value of PCB[printed circuit board] and accordingly satisfied electronic properties of HUMS. In this study, the reliability of a product was certified through the result of an experiment on ground. If the reliability of HUMS were verified through a test flight in the future, it is considered that it would make a big contribution to localization of aerospace electronic equipment.
Background: Whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery were frequently used to palliate patients with brain metastases. It remains controversial which modality or combination of therapy is superior especially in the setting of limited number of brain metastases. The availability of newer medical therapy that improves survival highlighted the importance of reducing long term radiation toxicity associated with WBRT. In this study, we aim to demonstrate the hippocampal sparing technique with whole brain and integrated simultaneous boost Materials and Methods: Planning data from 10 patients with 1-5 brain metastases treated with SRS were identified. Based on the contouring guideline from RTOG atlas, we identified and contoured the hippocampus with 5mm isocentric expansion to form the hippocampal avoidance structure. The plan was to deliver hippocampal sparing whole brain radiotherapy (HSWBRT) of 30 Gy in 10 fractions and simultaneous boost to metastatic lesions of 30 Gy in 10 fractions each. Results: The PTV, hippocampus and hippocampal avoidance volumes ranges between 1.00 - 39.00 cc., 2.50 - 5.30 cc and 26.47 - 36.30 cc respectively. The mean hippocampus dose for the HSWBRT and HSWBRT and SIB plans was 8.06 Gy and 12.47 respectively. The max dose of optic nerve, optic chiasm and brainstem were kept below acceptable range of 37.5 Gy. Conclusions: The findings from this dosimetric study demonstrated the feasibility and safety of treating limited brain metastases with HSWBRT and SIB. It is possible to achieve the best of both worlds by combining HSWBRT and SIB to achieve maximal local intracranial control while maintaining as low a dose as possible to the hippocampus thereby preserving memory and quality of life.

In this study, field measurements were performed to analyze the effects of train types (AREX, AREX Express, KTX, KTX-Sancheon) and train speeds on the dynamic behavior of the direct fixation track structure on Yeongjong grand bridge by bridge type (truss bridge, suspension bridge). Based on field measurement results, the track impact factor and train running stability (coefficient of derailment, Rate of wheel load reduction, lateral displacement of rail head) are compared with domestic and foreign standards and regulations to influence the dynamic behavior of direct fixation track. As a result, the differences in the dynamic behavior of the direct fixation tracks by the type of bridges of Yeongjong bridge are not significant, but it was analyzed that these were more directly affected by the magnitude of the train load. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the reinforcement plan of the direct fixation track structure on Yeongjong grand bridge in consideration of the increase of the track impact factor and dynamic track force.
