Disturbance observer-based robust backstepping load-following control for MHTGRs with actuator saturation and disturbances

  • This paper presents a disturbance observer-based robust backstepping load-following control (DO-RBLFC) scheme for modular high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (MHTGRs) in the presence of actuator saturation and disturbances. Based on reactor kinetics and temperature reactivity feedback, the mathematical model of the MHTGR is first established. After that, a DO is constructed to estimate the unknown compound disturbances including model uncertainties, external disturbances, and unmeasured states. Besides, the actuator saturation is compensated by employing an auxiliary function in this paper. With the help of the DO, a robust load-following controller is developed via the backstepping technique to improve the load-following performance of the MHTGR subject to disturbances. At last, simulation and comparison results verify that the proposed DO-RBLFC scheme offers higher load-following accuracy, better disturbances rejection capability, and lower control rod speed than a PID controller, a conventional backstepping controller, and a disturbance observer-based adaptive sliding mode controller.

  • Reliability of fatigue strength on Aircraft Composites(GFRP) Structures was assessed in this paper. Fatigue strength of GFRP was used through the existing fatigue test data with Monte Carlo method. The Sa-Nf curve of composites fatigue strength was assumed as normal distribution and reliability was analyzed using SSIT model. Fatigue stress was designed IAW ASTM F3114-15 with special safety factor of Ssf=1.2~2.0. Reliability was calculated by analytic method and FORM. Sensitivity for the effect of mean and standard deviation of fatigue strength as well as fatigue stability was evaluated. This result can be usefully applied to reliability and fatigue design for composite structures of light weight aircraft.

  • 본 논문은 최고속도 400km/h의 차세대고속열차 차상신호장치의 최고속도시험을 위한 방안을 연구한다. 차세대고속열차 차상신호장치는 열차가 고속선 자동열차제어(ATC)구간과 기존선 자동열차정지(ATS) 및 자동열차방호(ATP)구간을 운행하는 동안 기관사에게 운전정보를 제공하고 기관사실수, 신호장치고장, 천재지변 등으로부터의 열차 안전 확보를 목적으로 한다. 차세대고속열차 최고속도 400km/h 시험은 차상신호장치를 포함한 열차성능 검증을 위한 필수과정으로써, 본 논문에서는 차상신호장치의 기능 및 최고속도시험의 필요성을 분석하고, 고속선 ATC구간에서 최고속도시험을 실시하기 위한 인프라의 변경사항 및 구체적인 시험방안을 연구한다.

Performance evaluation study of a commercially available smart patient-controlled analgesia pump with the microbalance method and an infusion analyzer

  • Background: Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) has been widely used as an effective medical treatment for pain and for postoperative analgesia. However, improper dose errors in intravenous (IV) administration of narcotic analgesics from a PCA infusion pump can cause patient harm. Furthermore, opioid overdose is considered one of the highest risk factors for patients receiving pain medications. Therefore, accurate delivery of opioid analgesics is a critical function of PCA infusion pumps. Methods: We designed a microbalance method that consisted of a closed acrylic chamber containing a layer and an oil layer with an electronic balance. A commercially available infusion analyzer (IDA-5, Fluke Co., Everett, WA, USA) was used to measure the accuracy of the infusion flow rate from a commercially available smart PCA infusion pump (PS-1000, UNIMEDICS, Co., Ltd., Seoul, Korea) and compared with the results of the microbalance method. We evaluated the uncertainty of the flow rate measurement using the ISO guide (GUM:1995 part3). The battery life, delay time of the occlusion alarm, and bolus function of the PCA pump were also tested. Results: The microbalance method was good in the short-term 2 h measurement, and IDA-5 was good in the long-term 24 h measurement. The two measurement systems can complement each other in the case of the measurement time. Regarding battery performance, PS-1000 lasted approximately 5 days in a 1 ml/hr flow rate condition without recharging the battery. The occlusion pressure alarm delays of PS-1000 satisfied the conventional alarm threshold of occlusion pressure (300-800 mmHg). Average accuracy bolus volume was measured as 63%, 95%, and 98.5% with 0.1 ml, 1 ml, and 2 ml bolus volume presets, respectively. A 1 ml/hr flow rate measurement was evaluated as 2.08% of expanded uncertainty, with a 95% confidence level. Conclusion: PS-1000 showed a flow accuracy to be within the infusion pump standard, which is ± 5% of flow accuracy. Occlusion alarm of PS-1000 was quickly transmitted, resulting in better safety for patients receiving IV infusion of opioids. PS-1000 is sufficient for a portable smart PCA infusion pump.

직교배열실험 방법 기반 해양플랜트 플로트오버 설치 공법용 수동형 DSF의 구조설계 민감도와 메타모델링 평가 (Evaluation on Structure Design Sensitivity and Meta-modeling of Passive Type DSF for Offshore Plant Float-over Installation Based on Orthogonal Array Experimental Method)

  • Structure design sensitivity was evaluated using the orthogonal array experimental method for passive-type deck support frame (DSF) developed for float-over installation of the offshore plant. Moreover, approximation characteristics were also reviewed based on various meta-models. The minimum weight design of the DSF is significantly important for securing both maneuvering performance and buoyancy of a ship equipped with the DSF and guaranteeing structural design safety. The performance strength of the passive type DSF was evaluated through structure analysis based on the finite element method. The thickness of main structure members was applied to design factors, and output responses were considered structure weight and strength performances. Quantitative effects on the output responses for each design factor were evaluated using the orthogonal array experimental method and analysis of variance. The optimum design case was also identified from the orthogonal array experiment results. Various meta-models, such as Chebyshev orthogonal polynomial, Kriging, response surface method, and radial basis function-based neural network, were generated from the orthogonal array experiment results. The results of the orthogonal array experiment were validated using the meta-modeling results. It was found that the radial basis function-based neural network among the meta-models could approximate the design space of the passive type DSF with the highest accuracy.

자율주행자동차의 공사구간 안전주행 지원을 위한 교통안전시설물 개발 실증 연구 (An Empirical Study on Development of Traffic Safety Facilities for Safe Autonomous Vehicle Operation in Construction Areas)

  • 자율주행자동차의 센서에 대응하는 시설물의 검지성능을 향상시키는 것은 주행안전성을 향상시키는 데에 도움이 된다. 도로·교통 분야에서는 이를 위하여 도로 인프라 또는 시설물의 개선을 통해 센서에 대한 검지성능을 향상시키기 위한 연구를 수행하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 자율주행 지원 인프라 개발 연구의 일환으로 강우 상황에서도 충분히 LiDAR의 검지성능이 확보되어 공사구간에서 시선유도 기능을 유지할 수 있도록 교통콘과 드럼의 형상을 변형하여 이의 개선효과를 실증 실험으로 확인하였다. 개선의 원리는 반사 성능이 증대되며 기존의 시설물과 형상적으로 크게 차이가 나지 않도록 교통콘은 원뿔형 대신 사각뿔형으로, 드럼은 원기둥형 대신 6각기둥형과 8각기둥형으로 각각 제작하였다. 맑은 날과 강우 20 mm/h, 40 mm/h 상황에서 시설물에 대한 LiDAR 검지 데이터를 확인하였으며, 사각뿔형 교통콘과 8각기둥형 드럼은 기존 시설물에 비해 검지성능이 향상되었음을 확인하였다. 다만, 반복 측정에 따른 편차가 발생하였고, 통계적 해석으로는 유의미성을 확인하지 못한 것이 본 연구 결과의 한계이며, 이 결과를 반영하여 향후 연구에서는 측정환경의 다양성에도 균일하게 데이터가 취득될 수 있는 형태로 개선할 필요가 있다.

국제기준에 의한 ECDIS 인증방안 고찰 (An Investigation of ECDIS Type Approval based on International Standard)

  • Electronic navigation system onboard have have been developed with recent technology based on new concept such as electronic chart date. The most valuable system of revolution in electronic navigation equipment is ECDIS, which have been developed in order to reduce work load of mariner and give an integrated information by simple means, especially to improve the safety of ship's navigation. In order to be sure the function of ECDIS is satisfied, The international standard have regulated the performance in the standard, so ECDIS should be type approved by the marine equipment authority of each government. There are three basic documents, IEC61174, IEC61162, IEC60945 issued by IMO(International Maritime Organization) which should be used for type approval system of each authority. IEC 61174 include the method of test and required results for operational and functional performance of test equipment. IEC61162 is for sensor interface and IEC60945 is related to the test of environmental condition for general marine radiocommunication equipment. In this paper, we investigate international standard in detail and current approval system of general marine equipment. After that, we present the possible structure of type approval of ECDIS and important considerations of approval system such that ECDIS should be tested as one system not be separated between S/W and H/W.

Optimization of ride comfort for a three-axle vehicle equipped with interconnected hydro-pneumatic suspension system

  • The aim of this study is the optimization of the parameters of interconnected Hydro-Pneumatic (HP) suspension system of a three-axle vehicle for ride comfort and handling. For HP suspension systems of equivalent vertical stiffness and damping characteristics, interconnected HP suspension systems increase roll and pitch stiffness and damping characteristics of the vehicle as compared to unconnected HP suspension systems. Thus, they result in improved handling and braking/acceleration performances of the vehicle. However, increased roll and pitch stiffness and damping characteristics also increase roll and pitch accelerations, which in turn result in degraded ride comfort performance. Therefore, in order to improve both ride comfort and vehicle handling performances simultaneously, an optimum parameter set of an interconnected HP suspension system is obtained through an optimization procedure. The objective function is formed as the sum of the weighted vertical accelerations according to ISO 2631. The roll angle, one of the important measures of vehicle handling and driving safety, is imposed as a constraint in the optimization study. Upper and lower parameter bounds are used in the optimization in order to get a physically realizable parameter set. Optimization procedure is implemented for a three-axle vehicle with unconnected and interconnected suspension systems separately. Optimization results show that interconnected HP suspension system results in improvements in both ride comfort and vehicle handling performance, as compared to the unconnected suspension system. As a result, interconnected HP suspension systems present a solution to the conflict between ride comfort and vehicle handling which is present in unconnected suspension systems.

고분자 전해질 연료전지 가스켓 및 GDL의 구조 해석 (Structural Analysis of Gasket and GDL for Enhanced Performance of PEMFC)

  • 고분자 전해질 연료전지 스택의 성능향상과 안전성 확보를 위하여 스택의 체결하중으로 인한 가스켓과 GDL의 구조적 거동을 살펴보았다. 가스켓 구조 해석의 경우 하중과 변위의 초탄성 거동을 표현하기 위하여 Mooney-Rivlin의 변형률에너지 함수를 사용하였으며, 재료물성을 구하기 위하여 단축 인장 및 등가 이축 인장 시험을 수행하였고 유한요소 해석과 비교하였다. GDL의 물성측정을 위하여 압축 하중의 변화에 따라 두께변화를 측정하였고 단위 셀을 제작하여 하중의 변화에 따른 채널의 압력차를 측정하였다. 실험 데이터를 바탕으로 채널 단면적의 변화를 계산, 유한요소 해석결과와 비교하였다.

보강용 복합 지오텍스타일의 장기성능 평가 (Evaluation of Long-Term Performance of Composite Geotextiles for Reinforcement)

  • 부직포와 결합한 보강용폴리에스터 직포 지오텍스타일을 제조한 다음 크리프 시험결과로 부터 허용인장강도를 구하였다. 설계 및 시공을 고려한 안전율로 부터 장기설계인장강도를 구하였고 보강기능을 조사하기 위하여 지오그리드와 복합 직포 지오텍스타일의 장기거동을 비교하였다. 실험결과로 부터 보강용 직포 지오텍스타일이 지오그리드와 같은 충분한 보강성능이 있음을 확인할 수 있었고, 향후 추가실험을 통하여 복합 직포 지오텍스타일의 우수한 보강성능이 지속적으로 검증되어야 할 것으로 생각된다.
