  • The capital cost of the company is one that must be paid to the money owner as the price by using the money. The capital cost according to the source of money supply can be estimated by the expected profit rate undertaken by the use of the capital. But in the area of pre-existent economic evaluation, the evaluation of the company investment has been treated by the profit rate of the capital after considering the repayment conditions of the other's money or the interest. Thus in this study, in case the company makes an investment on various kinds of the capital at the same time, not make use of the capital as a one source, the economic evaluation of an investment should be handled by taking the weighted average cost of capital into consideration in proportion to the constitution of the capital cost by the sources of money supply, Especially, as the cost of the private money is very much connected with the profit rate through the stock market, the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) will be applied. This kind of economic evaluation method can be said to have much to do with the Economic Value Added : EVA) as well as to be highly thought as a standard to estimate the company' value recently To certify the usefulness of this approach, the case study of the output of the capital cost will be made for the purse of the economic evaluation of the alternative investment by using the financial statements of a motor company H.

  • RFID system the key technology of ubiquitous era, has been emphasized in logistics. Logistic enterprises are required to apply RFID systems considering their investment costs, actual effectiveness, operational satisfaction and so on. For such a purpose, many applicable methods of RFID system have been developed A method that RFID tags are directly attached to products or pallets is utilized in most cases. However, this method requires expensive investment cost, frequent replacement of damaged tags for the small and medium (SM) third party logistics. In this paper, we analyze statistically the current status and requirements of SM third party logistics. Based on their requirements, we propose the realtime warehousing-delivery management by the method to attach a RFID tag to each warehouse rack, together with the economy analysis index in order to evaluate economical efficiency. Consequently, this method is expected to reduce Investment cost and to improve operational effectiveness and satisfaction.

  • In today's uncertain economic environment, the evaluation of safety for investment alternatives is of practical importance in manufacturing companies. This paper examines a method of quantitatively evaluating profitability and risk for multiple alternatives using the total-cost unit-cost domain. The paper assumes such factors as unit sales price, sales and production volume, unit variable cost, fixed cost, and yield for each alternative. The paper incorporates the relationship between production capacity and demand, distinguishing between cases of production capacity surplus and shortage for each year over the entire planning horizon. The paper investigates the case in which the values of each factor independently move in the direction of decreasing profit each year, and clarifies the procedure of comparing safety among multiple investment alternatives on a single consolidated total-cost unit-cost domain. The difficulty of the problem lies in the method of consolidating multiple total-cost unit-cost domains into a single domain since the combination of years of capacity surplus and shortage depends upon the change values in each factor under consideration. A systematic method of evaluating profitability as well as risk is presented, and the validity of the proposed method is verified using a numerical example.

  • The world air transport industry has grown steadily with quantitative expansion. The volume of air transport in the world is skyrocketing with the open-sky trend. Air passengers from or to South Korea has shown 5% of annual growth for the last couple of decades which caused South Korea now ranking in 18th in the World for air transport market size. Quantitative expansion of Air transport affects in policy making of air transport operators, such as airports, airlines or authorities, directly and indirectly. Especially, Aviation Safety field should be supported by policy regime with the growth of air transport volume, assured resources for continuous monitoring is standing out as a vital factor. This study is to estimate social costs caused by aviation accidents and investment costs for aviation safety by airports, airlines and authorities as operators. Estimated investment costs for aviation safety verified by comparing and analysing them. Precedent studies were reviewed to refer research methodology to calculate aviation accident costs and safety costs of operators. Safety costs of operators was calculated with literature researches and interview surveys among professionals of each operators in rational range.

  • This study quantitatively analyzes the work performance of the structural safety diagnosis team that diagnoses pipe racks. To this end, a method for evaluating the performance of the structural safety diagnosis team using the queuing model was proposed. For verification, the case of applying the existing method and the method of introducing a 3D laser scanner for one site was used. The period, number of people, and initial investment cost of each project were collected through interviews with case project experts. As a result of analyzing the performance of the structural safety diagnosis team using the queuing model, it was possible to confirm the probability of delay in the work of each project and the amount of delayed work. Through this, the cost (standby cost) when the project was delayed was analyzed. Finally, economic analysis was conducted in consideration of the waiting cost, labor cost, and initial investment cost. The results of this study can be used to decide whether to introduce 3D laser scanners.

  • Area Offices of Education in Korea assign and execute government budget based on the evaluation of school buildings' safety rating and degree of their deterioration. However, it is never easy to estimate the most appropriate investment amount for old buildings under consideration of their service lives and residual values together. A model of estimating optimum investment cost for obsolete school building is developed taking its life cycle cost into account. The model is also applied to six old buildings in five different schools and found that some of the facilities hardly needed further investment and were better to be rebuilt. The study results will be a great beneficial for officers to make right decision on maintaining obsolete school buildings and to maximize tax payers' money.

  • This study delivers the actual condition of investment for industrial accident prevention based on survey of 500 construction sites from 'reports far industry safety and health' published by Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency (KOSHA). The various research techniques were used such as technical statistic analysis for construction industry, cost comparison of industrial accident prevention and accident loss. A formula was deduced to calculate accident loss and accident frequency by accident prevention cost through regression analysis.

  • Regarding a long-term strategic plan in the food and agriculture sector, R&D policies and investment trends in major overseas countries are reviewel. The importance of efficient resource management is emphasized along with continuous government support for R&D in the agri-food industry. In response to facing social issues such as climate change, food security, food safety, health, and environment, research and innovation agenda is mainly focused on harmony between economy and environment, human nutrition and health as well as animal and plant health, and an integrated ecosystem approach. Particularly in the food sector, public investment is generally made in food safety, nutrition and health, and private investment for food processing and manufacturing. Public-private collaboration is carried out in order to enhance the efficiency of R&D innovation and development strategies in the agri-food industry.

  • Although reinforcement of work intensity caused by the recent prosperity of shipbuilding businesses and the steady increasing of results which produces orders has difficulties with heavy workload, unique work circumstance in shipbuilding industry where main and subcontractor do the job together is not easy to manage its safety systematically. According to KOSHA(Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency), there were 2, 587 deaths of 95,806 disaster victims a year on average for late 6 years(2003-2008), therein 36,605 disaster victims and 646 death in manufacture where shipbuilding have 2,287 victims, 6.25% of total disaster victims and 45 deaths, 6.97%. Moreover it shows much higher accident rate in shipbuilding industry in Korea than well developed countries in this industry as Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and so it does about 3 to 10 times higher in case of death. Compared to Japan with a shipbuilding competition of orders received system, 2 times and 2.3 times higher for each and it is more than 2 times higher than accident rate of all domestic industries. These increasing of disaster result in a labor-management dispute and it is necessary that more positive efforts and investments because there occurs blind spot, neglected industry safety and health management by lack of them, Therefore this study, for the effective safety and health management of shipbuilding industry, attempts to analyze risk on kinds of ships and budget needed in safety management through classifying ships that are being made recently by three dominate major companies. For this, we carried out a survey and interview targeting experts related to shipbuilding industry and used AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) for result analysis. It is considered that cost of safety and health management will be spent more effectively on the results about risk on kinds of ships and budget needed in safety management in the study and that this study can contribute to decreasing disasters in shipbuilding industry.
