The thermal runaway phenomenon in lithium-ion batteries hinders their large-scale application and leads to safety issues, including smoke, fire, and explosion. Therefore, early warning systems must be employed rapidly and reliably to ensure user safety, with methods for detecting gases such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbons-all indicators of the thermal runaway process-considered a promising approach. In particular, metal-oxide-semiconductor-based gas sensors can be used to monitor target gases owing to their high response, fast response, and facile integration. In this paper, we review various strategies for enhancing the performance of metal-oxide-semiconductor-based gas sensors, including nanostructure design, catalyst loading, and composite design. Future perspectives on employing metal-oxide-semiconductor-based gas sensors to monitor thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries are also discussed.

This study was carried out to establish shelf life for pork cutlet of ground meat and pork lard by using various quality indicators and to understand how quality changes in these products are accelerated by temperature. The samples were selected and purchased from markets in Korea, and the chosen quality indicators were total aerobic counts and coliform group in microbiological analyses, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances assay, volatile basic nitrogen, pH, acid value, and peroxide value in physical chemical analyses, and sensory evaluation. The pork cutlet samples were stored at $-18^{\circ}C$, $-6^{\circ}C$, and $-1^{\circ}C$, whereas pork lard samples were stored at $10^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$, and $45^{\circ}C$. These temperature conditions were set to real distribution conditions. The samples were then analyzed using various models including of reaction orders, arrhenius equation, and $Q_{10}$ value. The quality limits for each sample were calculated, and shelf life was estimated. The results of this experiment highlighted the importance of temperature control during the distribution process of these products and revealed that temperature is a useful parameter for the establishment of a basic database for shelf life.
The successful and sustainable growth of SMEs depends on their ability of strengthen their competitiveness in quality and cost and service more than anything else as a fundamental of operation. Among these key competitive factors of SMEs, quality is the most critical factor in manufacturing business fields. There are many different ways to improve the quality performance but it needs proper management decision to choose the best way what can maximize outputs with minimum inputs. And it needs effective measurement methods and some indicators to analysis the quality performance properly. The quality cost is one of the simplest key indicators to measure the quality performance and the effectiveness of quality related management decisions. In this study, through survey on local SMEs, we found that their average annual quality cost ratio versus turnover - total amount of annual quality cost divided by annual turnover - is around 3.69% excluded some SME's performances what have different quality control measures with others. And we found some results what corresponded with the early studies on the correlations between those categorized quality costs factors and some discrepancies between some of the literature model and the early case study results as follows. There were negative correlations between the Prevention costs and the External failure costs, and the Appraisal costs and the External failure costs, and there was positive correlation between the Appraisal costs and Internal failure costs same as early studies. But, we couldn't found any strong negative correlations between the Cost of control - Prevention costs & Appraisal costs - and the Cost of Failure of control - Internal & External failure costs -.

This study suggested that various stakeholder can be participated in regional Environment planning and practical use of policy with rapid assessment of Ecosystem Services(ES). We applied to the rapid assessment of ES method to Ansan city and local registers selected Ecosystem assets that considered to space of ES. Ecosystem assets were measured 5 types Likert scale about 37 indicators of ES and confirm the main ES through the basic statistics. Furthermore Ecosystem assets classified according to similar character of ES. Ecosystem assets of Ansan were selected 47 site and Local climate regulation, Research and education, Primary production was high among the ES indicators. As a result two main group deduced that ecological education group(such as Research and education, Habitat) and safety regulation group(such as Air regulation, Fire regulation) through the factor analysis. In terms of location characteristics of each group, the ecological education-centered ecosystem assets were located near the downtown area, while the safety regulation group was located at the outskirts, such as mountains and coasts. This indicates that the ecological education about the habitat provision can be achieved in Ansan city downtown area and that outskirts should be approached from the aspect of ecological function to establish a plan. The result of Rapid assessment of ES, which can be lead a balanced and developmental consultation when establishing polices for environment planning and management in region.

Objectives: This study was performed to check whether the CRS (Chemical Ranking and Scoring) system is appropriate as a method to determine substances as candidates for substances subject to permission and to apply this system to the selection of candidates for substances subject to permission. Methods: A risk score was obtained by multiplying the hazard score and the exposure score and then ranking them. The hazard sub-indicators are carcinogenicity, germ cell mutagenicity, reproductive toxicity, specific target organ toxicity-repeated exposure, respiratory sensitization and endocrine disrupting chemicals. Exposure sub-indicators are persistence, bioaccumulation and emission volume. Sensitivity analysis was performed for missing values. Correlation analysis and multivariable linear regression analysis were performed among hazard, exposure and risk in order to confirm that CRS was an appropriate method. Results: As a result of the sensitivity analysis on missing values, it was confirmed that the effect on the risk ranking was not sensitive. Correlation and regression analysis confirmed that exposure had a greater effect on risk than hazard. Conclusions: The CRS system, which derives a risk score using a hazard and exposure score, is judged to be appropriate as a method for the selection of preliminary of candidates for substances subject to permission. Benzene, cadmium, nickel, and cobalt were selected as priority candidates for substances subject to permission.

Demand-responsive transit (DRT) is a concept introduced to provide appropriate service to areas with insufficient public transit services. Since the focus has been on regional expansion, a service evaluation and feedback system has not yet been established. In the context of recent research to combine DRT service and autonomous driving technology, this study examines domestic and overseas-related evaluation systems and research cases to discover indicators that meet demand-response autonomous mobility service evaluation. This study proposes a method for evaluating demand-responsive autonomous mobility services using an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique based on the investigated indicators. It is expected that the results will be used as primary data for building an evaluation system, contributing to enhanced service competitiveness and secure sustainability.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop predictive models for pressure ulcer incidence using electronic health record (EHR) data and to compare their predictive validity performance indicators with that of the Braden Scale used in the study hospital. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted in a tertiary teaching hospital in Korea. Data of 202 pressure ulcer patients and 14,705 non-pressure ulcer patients admitted between January 2015 and May 2016 were extracted from the EHRs. Three predictive models for pressure ulcer incidence were developed using logistic regression, Cox proportional hazards regression, and decision tree modeling. The predictive validity performance indicators of the three models were compared with those of the Braden Scale. Results: The logistic regression model was most efficient with a high area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) estimate of 0.97, followed by the decision tree model (AUC 0.95), Cox proportional hazards regression model (AUC 0.95), and the Braden Scale (AUC 0.82). Decreased mobility was the most significant factor in the logistic regression and Cox proportional hazards models, and the endotracheal tube was the most important factor in the decision tree model. Conclusion: Predictive validity performance indicators of the Braden Scale were lower than those of the logistic regression, Cox proportional hazards regression, and decision tree models. The models developed in this study can be used to develop a clinical decision support system that automatically assesses risk for pressure ulcers to aid nurses.

The Safe Operating Envelope (SOE) combined with Short-Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) performance is an essential consideration of a light aircraft carrier for design of hull shape with excellent seakeeping performance in terms of naval air operations as well as traditional naval ship missions such as Transit and Patrol (TAP), and Replenishment at Sea (RAS) and so on. A variety of procedures are systematically combined to determine SOE considering rather complicated missions associated with operation of aircraft onboard. The evaluation of take-off and landing safety missions onboard should consider wind effect on deck and severer seakeeping indices and standards compared with conventional naval ships. In order to support take-off and landing missions, various support activities of the crews are required. So, additional evaluation is needed for indicators such as MSI(Motion sickness Index) and MII(Motion Induced Interruptions), which are quantitative indicators of work ability that appear as a result of motion response. In this study, a standard procedure is developed including the seaworthiness performance indicators, standards, and evaluation procedures that should be considered during design of STOVL aircraft carrier. Analysis results are discussed in terns of air-wake on deck as well as seakeeping indices associated with design parameter changes in view of conceptual design of a light aircraft carrier.

Background: Efforts for the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in workers have been actively pursued. Obesity is one of the important risk factors related to CVDs. Obesity has various metabolic characteristics, and some individuals can be metabolically healthy. Body composition including skeletal muscle mass is known to have protective effect in obesity. The study aims to investigate the association between skeletal muscle mass and Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) CVD risk among obese male manufacturing workers in Korea and to identify appropriate indicators of skeletal muscle mass for predicting risk of CVDs. Methods: The study was conducted on 2,007 obese male workers at a manufacturing industry aged more than 19 years. Skeletal muscle mass, skeletal muscle index (SMI), skeletal muscle mass percent (SMM%) and skeletal muscle to body fat ratio (MFR) were used to evaluate body composition and these indicators were divided into quartiles. The odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the KOSHA CVD risk groups according to quartiles of skeletal muscle mass indicators were estimated using ordinal logistic regression analysis. Results: The OR for the KOSHA CVD risk groups in the highest quartile of SMI was 1.67 (95% CI: 1.42-1.92), while the ORs for the KOSHA CVD risk groups in the highest quartiles of SMM%, SMM/body mass index (BMI), and MFR were 0.47 (95% CI: 0.22-0.72), 0.51 (95% CI: 0.05-0.76), and 0.48 (95% CI: 0.23-0.74), respectively. Conclusions: We found that high SMI increase the likelihood of high risk of CVDs, while high SMM%, SMM/BMI, and MFR lower the likelihood of high risk of CVDs. Accurate evaluation of skeletal muscle mass can help assess the cardiovascular risk in obese male workers.

Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, has been lacking an adequate road network to ensure community access to social, political, and economic resources and to facilitate economic development. The road network coverage was about 22.5% in 2022, which is below the minimum international standard of 25%. To improve accessibility and mobility, the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority(AACRA) has engaged its own force crew (contractor), as well as local and foreign road contractors, in the construction of urban roads. However, these road construction projects are rarely completed within the estimated time and cost, along with a variety of other issues that also need to be addressed. This study aims to explore the application of lean construction for improving the performance of urban road construction projects in Addis Ababa City. A survey of road construction stakeholders was carried out to evaluate their perspectives on the importance of project performance indicators, with the goal of identifying key factors affecting road construction project performance. First, a list of performance indicators was prepared based on a review of lean construction literature, and a total of 38 identified factors were grouped into six performance indicator categories. Cross-tabulation analysis of the stakeholder perspectives was then carried out, and it was found that the indicators that affect the performance of urban road infrastructure projects (in descending order of importance) were: time, quality, cost, risk, safety, and sustainability. Through this analysis it was concluded that right-of-way issues, delay to finish, inflation, contractor capacity, and scope change with change order are also major factors that affect the performance of urban roads construction projects. Clarification of these factors will provide AACRA with useful information on what aspects of lean construction should be prioritized when evaluating future construction projects.
