프로바이오틱스 섭취를 통한 염증성 장 질환의 완화 (Prevention of Inflammatory Bowel Disease using Fermented Milk Including Probiotics)

  • For centuries, probiotics have been known to promote health and prevent diseases. In recent times, modulation of diseases related to the immune function by probiotics has been recognized as very important to the health of the host's gut. Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) are the most frequently studied diseases in which probiotic administration has been tested as a potential therapy. Various in vitro and in vivo studies have been performed. The studies discussed in this review suggest several mechanisms: probiotics could modulate the gut microflora by competing with disease-causing pathogenic bacteria and could directly regulate the mucosal immune system, which activates the innate and adaptive immune systems. In addition, human clinical trials have shown alleviation of disease symptoms of ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn's disease, etc. This study aimed to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying immune modulation by probiotics and review studies on the functional aspect of IBD alleviation by probiotics. With more scientific studies confirming the effect of probiotics, this therapy holds promise for use in alternative medicine and/or pharmaceutical preparations, given the long history of safe consumption of probiotics.

소나무 수심 정각재의 건조 중 3차원 함수율 분포와 변이 (Three-dimensional Distribution and Variation of Moisture Content of Boxed-heart Square Timber of Pinus densiflora During Drying)

  • 국산 소나무 간벌재를 이용한 수심 정각새(단면치수 $150{\times}150mm$)의 안전하고 신속한 건조를 위하여 열풍건조와 마이크로파건조중 수심 정각새의 함수율 분포와 그 변이를 3차원적으로 탐색하였다. 실험결과 마이크로파건조를 통하여 72시간 이내에 함수율 10% 미만까지 건조가 가능하였고 표면할열 발생도 최소화할 수 있었다. 건조 중 함수율 분포는 마이크로파건조의 경우 초기함수율 분포에 영향을 크게 받았다. 그러나 열기건조의 경우 초기함수율 분포가 건조초기에만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 유해 남조류 Microcystis 종에 의한 녹조현상은 매년 빈번하게 일어나며, 이로 인한 수자원의 질적 변화와 먹는 물확보에 문제가 발생하고 있다. Microcystis 종에 의한 피해를 막고자 개발된 naphthoquinone (NQ) 유도체 물질의 장점 분석을 위해 국내에서 빈번히 사용되는 황토를 이용한 microcosm 실험을 하고자 하였다. 그 결과, NQ 40, NQ 2-0 물질은 선행 연구 결과와 동일하게 유해 남조류 Microcystis 종을 선택적으로 99.9%, 99.6% 제어했으며, 식물플랑크톤 종 다양성을 증진시켰다. 그러나, 황토를 처리한 실험구는 실험 초기 일시적인 조류 제어효과를 보인 후 다시 증가하였으며, 유용 조류를 포함한 모든 식물플랑크톤에게 적용되어 다른 조류의 성장은 이루어지지 않았다. 뿐만 아니라, NQ 물질을 처리한 처리구는 비생물학적, 생물학적요인 모두 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 대조구와 유사한 경향이 관찰되었다. 따라서, 최종적으로 개량된 유해 남조류 제어물질 NQ 2-0은 높은 살조효과, 선택적 제어효과, 저독성, 자연분해에 의한 비잔류성 뿐만 아니라, 편의성 및 경제성까지 갖춘 새로운 살조물질로서 현재까지 개발된 살조물질보다 현장 생태계 적용에 가장 적합한 친환경 녹조제어 물질이라고 판단된다.

노인을 위한 식품안전.영양교육 내용 개발 - 포커스그룹인터뷰와 델파이 조사를 통하여 - (Development of Food Safety and Nutrition Education Contents for the Elderly - by Focus Group Interview and Delphi Technique -)

  • Our society is aging rapidly, and the number of elderly people who are in charge of purchasing and preparing foods at home is increasing. However, most the elderly have difficulty managing nutrition and food safety by themselves. The purpose of this study was to develop the necessary knowledge, through focus group interview and Delphi technique to establish a food safety and nutrition education program. The diet and educational needs of the elderly were surveyed through FGI. The education topics were decided by the Delphi technique. The education program consisted of a five week program, and the topics taught were 'Dietary Change for Healthy Life', 'Prevention of Food Poisoning in Everyday Life', 'Safe Food Handling for my Health', 'Healthy Dietary Life to Prevent Chronic Disease', and 'Safety! Nutrition! Healthy Dietary Life'. This education program was designed to decrease the perceived barriers, and to increase the perceived interests and the sense of self-efficacy. Education program materials, lesson plans, slides, handouts, videos, leaflets, and booklets were developed. Based on the results, the contents of the food safety guideline leaflets for the elderly were decided as the following: (1) wash your hands in the correct way; (2) select safe food; (3) cook foods safely; (4) keep foods safely; (5) keep kitchen utensils clean. In conclusion, if advanced education programs are implemented and delivered continuously in locations such as health centers and community welfare centers, those will contribute significantly to enhance the perception of food safety and to change the desirable dietary behavior of the elderly.

Food Component Characteristics of Tuna Livers

  • Livers of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) were investigated on the food compositional characteristics and also compared to that of Alaska pollack (Theragra chalcogramma). The proximate compositions of skipjack tuna and yellowfin tuna livers were high in crude protein, carbohydrate, and crude ash, while were low in crude lipid when compared to that of Alaska pollack liver. The results of heavy metal suggested that tuna livers appeared safe as a food resource. The total amino acid contents of skipjack tuna and yellowfin tuna livers were 17.7 and 17.1 g/100 g, respectively, and the major amino acids in both livers were aspartic acid, glutamic acid, alanine, valine, leucine, and lysine. Tuna livers were good sources of iron and zinc, while have low lipid content. The extractive nitrogen contents of skipjack tuna and yellowfin tuna livers were 526.5 and 468.2 mg/100 g, respectively, and their major free amino acids were taurine, glutamic acid, and alanine. From the results of taste value, the major taste active compounds among free amino acids were glutamic acid and aspartic acid.

노년기 농촌생활의 가치에 대한 델파이연구 (Three-Round Delphi Study on the Value of Rural Residence in Later Life)

  • In this study was investigated the value of rural residence in later life from the personal, regional, and national perspective. For this purpose, a three-round Delphi technique was used to collect data through a series of surveys to obtain the consensus of a group of 38 experts in value of rural residence in later life in the future. In the first round was sent to them unstructured questionnaire and in the second and third round, the summarized results of the first and second round were delivered to rate the importance of each item for confirmation and validation of the results. Data were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive statistics. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, the personal, regional, and national value of rural residence in later life was selected 7 domains 23 items, 4 domains 22 items, and 3 domains 20 items respectively. Experts consented that the value from the personal perspective will be the highest among 3 perspectives. Second, as the value of rural residence from the personal perspective, it was showed nature-friendly life, physical health emotional serenity, lower expenditure, enjoyable filming, feeding the safe food, and etc,. As the value of it from the regional perspective was showed usage of retirees' speciality and experience to community development and the increase of recreational function in the rural. Also, from the national perspective, it was showed the sustainability of the rural, the establishment of welfare base, balanced development between regions. Based on these results, policy implications were discussed.

n차 반응속도 모델을 적용한 단기추진제의 저장수명 예측 (The Shelf-life Prediction of Single-Base Propellants by applying the Kinetic Model of n-th Order)

  • 단기추진제는 Nitrocellulose를 주요 에너지원으로 사용하는 추진제이다. 추진제의 정확한 저장 수명 예측은 인적, 물적 자원의 비용 절감 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 안정제 함량 변화모사에 대해 n차 반응속도 모델을 적용하여 최적의 반응차수를 도출하고, 이에 따른 저장 수명을 예측하였다. 고온가속노화시험 결과로부터 최적의 반응차수는 1.15481로 도출되었으며, 이때의 추정표준오차(${\times}100$ 기준)는 16.284로 나타났다. 일반 저장온도 범위를 $21^{\circ}C$에서 $30^{\circ}C$로 가정하면, 본 시험에 사용된 단기추진제는 약 35년에서 최대 140년까지 저장 수명이 예측되었다. 정확한 저장 수명을 예측하기 위해서는 탄약 저장고내 온도 분포를 데이터화하여 적용하는 것이 타당할 것으로 판단된다.

전작물 재배를 위해 토양에 혼화처리된 Ethoprophos의 후작물 흡수이행 (Uptake and Translocation of Ethoprophos Mixed with Soil for Cultivation of Preceding Crop into Succeeding Crop)

  • BACKGROUND: Unintentional residual pesticide in soil derived from preceding crops and the transfer to succeeding crops was considered a critical barrier for positive list system (PLS). Thus, an uncertain risk is predicted for ethoprophos applied at cultivation of preceding crop (Korean cabbage) to succeeding crop (spinach). METHODS AND RESULTS: Ethoprophos was treated on soil following the recommended dose and 5 times dose according to the safe use guidelines for Korean cabbage after seeding. On the 4 days after harvesting of preceding crop, spinach was sowed. The initial residual amounts of ethoprophos on soil (7.081-19.493 mg/kg) were decreased to 3.832-7.218 mg/kg until the harvest of Korean cabbage, and then finally decreased to 0.011-0.079 mg/kg after spinach cultivation. The uptake rates of ethoprophos from soil by Korean cabbage were 0.01-0.03% and distributed to root (0.150-0.903 mg/kg) and shoot (0.021-0.151 mg/kg), respectively. The residual amounts of uptake and translocation from preceding crop cultivated soil to spinach edible part were found to be below LOQ. CONCLUSION: The plant back internal (PBI) for ethoprophos is not recommended during sequential cultivation of leafy vegetables, since the residual amounts of ethoprophos in spinach were less than MRL (0.02 mg/kg).

유기농자재 사용에 따른 고추 병해 발생과 토양 미생물상 구조의 상관관계 (Correlation between Disease Occurrences and Microbial Community Structure by Application of Organic Materials in Pepper)

  • 유기농업은 지속가능한 농업을 위해서 필요하며, 생물 다양성 유지를 위해 필수적인 경작 방법으로 전 세계적으로 성장하고 있는 농업 분야 중 하나이다. 유기농업은 인류의 건강과 환경에 유해한 영향을 끼질 수 있는 화학적 제재의 사용을 줄이고, 친환경적 동·식물성 비료, 식물 추출물, 미생물 제재 등이 사용되기 때문에 소비자에게 안전한 농산물을 제공할 수 있다. 노지 고추를 대상으로 3년간 유기농업 환경과 관행농업 환경에서 주요 병해 발생과 토양 미생물상의 조사하였다. 토양 미생물상의 차이는 차세대 염기서열 분석 기법을 활용하여 조사하였으며, 유기농업에 사용되는 제제의 종류에 따라 토양 미생물상이 다르게 형성되었다. 바이러스, 탄저병에 대해서는 관행농업에서의 병 발생률이 낮았으나, 청고병은 미생물 제재 사용에 의해 병 발생률이 낮게 나타났다. 미생물 제재를 사용한 토양에서 투입된 미생물이 토양 미생물에서 검출되었으며, 이는 미생물이 실제 토양에 정착했음을 시사한다.

타이치운동 프로그램이 지역사회 거주 노인의 신체기능, 인지기능 및 삶의 질에 미치는 효과: 인지기능을 중심으로-예비조사 연구 (Effect of the Tai Chi Exercise Program on Physical Function, Cognitive Function, and Quality of Life among Older Adults in the Community: A Preliminary Study)

  • Purpose: To assess the feasibility, safety, and preliminary estimates of effectiveness of Tai Chi on the functional outcomes of older adults in the community. Methods: This was a mixed-method study that employed a single-group repeated measure design and in-depth interviews. Nine older adults were recruited from the community were recruited to participate in a Tai Chi program, conducted twice weekly for 6 months. Research outcomes included physical function, cognitive function, and quality of life, measured at intervals of 3 and 6 months. Findings: Tai Chi exercises were gradually conducted based on the health status of the older adults. All participants actively participated in the program with an average attendance of 90%. Consequently, the participants showed significant improvements in mobility and their memory recall ability at both 3 and 6 months. Additionally, the results of the Stroop test exhibited improvement 3 months after the commencement of the study program. Quality of life of the participants improved according to the mild cognitive impairment questionnaire, but it did not show significant improvement in health-related quality of life. Conclusion: The Tai Chi exercise program was a safe and, feasible program to improve the physical function, cognitive function, quality of life among the older adults in the community.
