Objective : This study was done for reporting the effect of $Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method to $Ryodoraku$ on the patients with chronic low back pain Methods : We investigated 49 cases of patients with chronic low back pain, and devided patients into two groups : We treated one group by needling with $Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method, and did the other group by needling without $Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method. And we analyzed the $Ryodoraku$ score (F4). Results : 1. In $Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method group and non-$Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method group, compared with baseline, at final, $Ryodoraku$ score (F4) was significantly increased. 2. At final, $Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method group showed significant increase on $Ryodoraku$ score (F4) score compared with non-$Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method group. Conclusions : $Sa-Am$ acupuncture bladder reinforcing method showed significant improvement in $Ryodoraku$ score (F4) on chronic low back pain.

Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effects of treatment of HIVD patients with lower back pain, lower limb radiating pain and restricted on SLRT by the Sa-Am acupuncture. Methods : From March 2010 to July 2010, thirty HIVD patients who admitted to Cheonan oriental medical hospital in Daejeon university were divided into two groups. Group I was treated by Sa-Am acupuncture Banggwangjeonggyeok and general acupuncture, Group II by general acupuncture. We evaluated the treatment effect of each group with the Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Oswestry Disability Index(ODI), SLR test, dividing two period(from admission day to third day after admission and from third day to sixth day after admission). Results : 1. Group I is more effective than Group II in early pain and reducing rate of pain. 2. Group I is more effective than Group II in ODI score reducing rate from admission day to third day after admission, but there was no significant difference between the two groups from third day to sixth day after admission. 3. Group I is more effective than Group II in early SLR test improvement rate. Conclusions : Sa-Am acupuncture Banggwangjeonggyeok on HIVD patients with lower back pain, lower limb radiating pain and restricted on SLR test was effective in reducing pain and improving SLR test.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder on radial pulse in healthy subjects. Methods : Sixty healthy subjects participated in this study, and were divided into a kidney tonifying acupuncture group(KI group), urinary bladder tonifying acupuncture group(BL group) and control group. Radial pulse was measured by 3 dimensional pulse imaging system(DMP-3000) before, immediately after, 30 minutes after, and 60 minutes after acupuncture at Cun, Guan, and Chi in each time. Results : 1. BL group exhibited significantly reduced T1 / T, T4 / T, T4 / (T-T4), T5 / T and increased(T-T4) / T compared to KI group. 2. BL group showed increase of radial augmentation index / heart rate(RAI / HR) in left Cun, H5, Ad / Ap in left Chi, H1, As / Ap in right Chi compared to KI group. BL group showed decrease of As / Ap, Aw / Ap in left Chi, H1, pulse depth, Ad / Ap in right Chi compared to KI group. 3. KI group showed increase of Aw / Ap, H1, H2, H4, pulse area in right Guan, pulse depth in right Chi compared to BL group. KI group showed decrease of RAI in left Cun, applied pressure, pulse depth in left Guan, Aw / Ap in right Chi compared to BL group. Conclusions : The effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder in healthy humans have been observed on various parameters. The parameters analysed in this study can be used to differentiate the effects of Sa-am acupuncture with tonifications of kidney and urinary bladder on radial pulse.
