칠정(七情)에 관(關)한 문헌적(文獻的) 고찰(考察) (A Bibliographic Study on the Chiljeong(七情))

  • This paper is aimed at finding out the clue to the medical solution to the pathological phenomena of the dehumanizing and demoralizing state of our society by centering around the Chiljeong that originates from Oriental Medicine, Sung Confucianism and Sa-sang Medicine(四象醫學). In these fields,the Chiljeong is based on the theory of Eum-yang and Viscera(陰陽.臟腑論) in Oriental Medicine, on the problems of good and evil in Sung Cunfucianism and on the theory of Sa-sang Visceral Localization(四象.臟局의 理論) in Sa-sang Medicine. The principles of geneation of Chiljeong : In case of Oriental Medicine, Sin(神) controls Chiljeong and of it is stored in five Viscera, it becomes Sin in the Heart, Hon(魂) in the Liver, Sa(思) in the Spleen, Bed-Woo(悲.憂) in the Lung, and Kyeong-Kong(驚.恐) in the Kidney. Then five Viscera react with outer stimuli or Sin, it gives off Chiljeong as Joy(from the Heart), Anger(from the Liver). Thought (from the Spleen), Anxiety and Sorrow(from the Lung) and Surprise and Fear(from the Kidney) In Sung Confucianism, Sim(心) comtrols Seong-jeong(性.情), and at the moment of that Sim gives off Jeong(情), it becomes good when the Li(理) gibes off itself and then Chi(氣) follows Li, or Chi gives off itself and is regulated optimally, out it becomes evil when Li cannot preside over Chi and then shaded by cloudy Chi. The pathology: If the Chiljeong exceeds one's capacity, the corresponding Vicsera will be damaged, and the Passions(喜.怒.哀.樂) that may harm to four types of constitution severly are the Joy and Pleasure(in Tae-eum-in 太陰人 and So-eum-in 少陰人) and Grief and Anger(in Tae-yang-in 太陽人 and So-yang-in 少陽人), so one should be alert on some passions by regrding his constitutional frailty. More over, because of the variations in Sa-sang Visceral Localyzatin there is various ability in human affairs, but as the clumsiness in human affairs may make him hurt by it, so one should be prevented from these passions and human affairs, that is flowing Joy and Participations(黨與) in Tae-yang-in, flowing Pleasure and Dwelings(居處) in So-yang-in, explosive Anger and Companies(交遇) in So-eum-in, explosive Grief and Affairs(事務) in Tae-eum-in. How to clutivate the human nature: The ulitmate purpose in Oriental Medicine is preserving Cheon-Jin(天眞), that is following the Tao(道) by making him be in harmony with the Chi(氣) of the Seasons and by living a simple life. In Sung Confucianism, the way preventing the lustful desire and preserving Cheon-li(天理) is to observate derectly the calm, original place of human nature with reverence, when Sim has nat given off itself yet, and when Sim has already given off, it also is to meditating on one's passion and thought that the principle of good should be researched on or the evil should be cut off according to it's being good or evil. Such like as these various aspects of research on the Chiljeong it will be helpful in understanding human nature by producing the various materials on it, moreover, by doing so, we can lead out appropriate solution on the confusions of judgement value and demoralization.

Dietary Habits and Lifestyle Factors in Relation to Sa-Sang Constitution

  • According to Sa-Sang constitution, people can be classified into 4 types, Tae-Yang-In, Tae-Eum-In, So-Yang-In, and So-Eum-In. 1he purpose of this study was to examine any significance between types of Sa-Sang constitution and dietary factors. Physical and constitutional examinations as well as a questionnaire survey were conducted on a group of 483 college students. Among the group of 483 college students, only 428 subjects were determined to have identical constitution through both the questionnaire survey and Korean traditional medical doctors' inquiries. Of 428 subjects, $29.7\%$ were determined to be Tae-Eum-Ins; $35.5\%$ were identified as So-Yang-Ins; $34.8\%$ were classified as So-Eum-Ins. Tae-Eum-Ins showed a statistically significant difference in BMI and higher smoking rate in comparison with groups of So-Yang-Ins and So-Eum-Ins. So-Eum-Ins had a tendency to take vegetables and fruits more often but they had lower preferences for balanced diets. Tae-Eum-Ins showed higher propensity to eat a visible fat protein. In terms of degrees of doneness of meat, So-Yang-Ins showed a higher tendency to prefer well-broiled meat Tae-Eum-Ins also tended to have significantly higher iron, potassium, sodium, vitamin $B_1$, niacin, $\beta$-carotene and vitamin E in their diet So-Eum-Ins had significantly lower intakes of protein, phosphorous, and folate. Considering the fact that most chronic degenerative diseases could be developed by any lifestyle factors, it is necessary to conduct educational programs about lifestyles including dietary habits for maintaining good health; On the basis of the results of this study, it is expected that the scientific, objective and accurate diet information depending upon individual's type of constitution will be provided.

융의 마음의 구조, 유형론과 이제마(李齊馬)의 지인론(知人論), 사상인(四象人)과의 비교 고찰 (The comparison study of the structure of mind and psychologic type of C.G Jung to Ji-In-Lon and Sa-Sang constituition of Lee Je Ma)

  • 융과 동무(東武) 이제마(李濟馬)의 지인론(知人論)과 인간의 유형 연구의 비교를 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 1. 융의 인간의 마음의 구조를 탐구한 작업이나 이제마(李濟馬)의 지인론(知人論)은 각각의 유형론(類型論)의 기본개념 설정에 중요 한 의미가 있다. 이들은 인간의 심성의 분석을 통하여 자신만의 독특한 유형론(類型論)을 개발해내었다. 2. 인식의 체계로서는 융은 의식, 개인적 무의식, 집단적 무의식, 자기의 사상론적(四象論的) 구조(構造)로, 이제마(李齊馬)는 사심신물(事心身物)의 사상론적(四象論的) 구조(構造)로서 인간을 설명하려 하였다. 그리고 유형론으로는 융은 사고형 감정형 감각형 직관형의 4개로, 이제마는 태양인(太陽人) 소양인(少陽人) 태음인(太陰人) 소음인(少陰人)의 4개로 나누었다. 공통적으로 사상론적(四象論的) 구조(構造)라는 점에 양자간의 유사성이 있다. 3. 융은 의식과 무의식을 탐구하였고 이제마(李濟馬)는 인의예지(仁義禮智)인 성(性)과 비박탐뢰(鄙薄貪賴)의 심욕(心慾)을 탐구하였는데 양자간에는 밀접한 관련이 있다고 사료된다. 또, 의식, 무의식과 군자의필(君子之心), 소인지필(小人之必)의 관련도 적용시킬 수 있다고 사료된다. 4. 이제마(李濟馬)의 대동(大同), 각립(各立), 행기지(行其知), 행기행(行其行)과 호선(好善), 악악(惡惡), 사심(邪心), 태행(怠行) 그리고 장부(臟腑)의 대소관계(大小關係)등은 융이 말한 제1기능(우월기능), 제2기능, 제3기능, 제4기능(열등기능)의 구분과 연관지어 생각해 볼 수 있다고 사료된다. 5. 융의 사고형 감정형 감각형 직관형의 4분류와 이제마(李濟馬)의 태양인(太陽人) 소양인(少陽人) 태음인(太陰人) 소음인(少陰人)과의 관계는 앞으로 많은 연구가 필요한 부분이라 생각된다.

<명선록(明善錄)>의 반주자학적 논거의 이제마(李濟馬)의 사상인장이론(四象人臟理論)과의 관련성에 대하여 (The Study on the Relationship Between Sasang Constitutional Theory and Anti-Neo-Confucianism in Myung-Suen Lock)

  • This study are performed to reveal the origin of the Sasang constitutional theory made by Lee-jae-ma(李濟馬), confucianist as well as famous oriental doctor, who succeeded to Han- suck-jie(韓錫地)'s Anti-Neo-Confucianism. Han wrote a book na mod Myung-Suen-Lock(明善錄) which criticized Neo-Confucianism formed at times of Song dynasty in China and proposed a new doctrine i.e Anti-Neo-Confucianism. He asserted that The Sacred and Ordinary Men are all the same in nature, and that The Acatul Mind of Universe and The Actual Mind of Human also are all the same ultimately These two assertions cleary contrasted with pre-existing Neo-confucianism led Lee-jae-ma to successively organize Sasang constitutional theoy. This study is aimed to illuminate this point : How under the effects of Han's new doctrine Lee-jae-ma could find four general constitutions due to the functional variation of the four organs. At first, Lee indicated four organs as the very general basement providing human nature for all men including The Sacred. In consequence, he justified one of the Han's assertions that The Sacred and Ordinary Men are all the same in nature. Secondly, Lee indicated the Mind as the actual center which bring forth the individual spontaneity. As far as this individual spontaneity is rightly aimed, which means harmonize his own's with the actual process of the Universe, all men could be The Sacred. So he come to justify the other of Han's assertions that The Actual Mind of Universe and The Actual Mind of Human also are all the same ultimately. Therefore, it is clearly verified that the Lee-jae-ma's Sasang doctrine is the successive achievement origined from Han-suck-jie(韓錫地)'s Anti-Neo-Confucianism abundantly represented in his own book, Myung-Suen-Lock.

한방치료로 졸피뎀(Zolpidem) 복용을 중단한 불면증 환자 치료 1례 (A Case Report of Traditional Korean Medical Treatment for an Insomnia Patient Taking Zolpidem)

  • The purpose of this study was to report a case of an insomnia patient treated with a traditional Korean medical treatment. The patient had suffered from insomnia for 4 months and had taken medicines such as Zolpidem. We diagnosed the patient as So-yang-in, according to the Sa-sang constitutional medicine. We prescribed medicine with herbs for So-yang-in and applied acupuncture for 9 days, and then we evaluated sleep time, quality, and awakening, based on the patient’s statement. The symptoms of insomnia were gradually improved during treatment. Therefore, traditional Korean medical treatment can help insomnia patients sleep well without Zolpidem.

원주 지역 주민들의 사상체질과 심박수변이도와의 상관성 (Correlation Between Sasang Constitution and Heart Rate Variability in Won-ju Rural Population)

  • Objective : This study was designed to find the correlation between Sasang Constitution and heart rate variability(HRV). Method : There were 665 subjects (280 men and 385 women), between 39 and 72 years old. in a rural community. Sasang Constitution was diagnosed by a Sasang constitutional specialist using PSSC (Phonetic System for Sasang Constitution), face and tongue photo and checkup-list. A structured-questionnaire was used to assess the general characteristics. HRV was recorded using SA-2000 (medi-core). HRV was assessed by time domain and by frequency domain analysis. Metabolic syndrome was defined on the basis of clustering of risk factors, when three or more of the following cardiovascular risk factors were included : blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, triglyceride HDL-cholesterol, and abdominal obesity (waist). Because of the skewness of the data, logarithmic transformation was performed on the absolute units of the spectral components of HRV, and the resulting logarithmic values and normalized units were compared between the groups by a logistic regression. The 95% confidence interval (CI) of the odds ratio was used and calculated from the data laid out for a cross sectional study. Results : 1. Odds ratios of Taeeumin and Soeumin in female adults below 60 years old were significantly lower than that of Soyangin in LF norm and LF/HF ratio. Odds ratios of Taeeumin and Soeumin in female adults below 60 years old were significantly higher than that of Soyangin in HF norm. 2. There was no significant correlation between HRV and Sasang Constitution in female adults from 60 years old and over. 3. There was no significant correlation between HRV and Sasang Constitution in male adults. Conclusion : There is a statistically significant correlation between the HRV and Sasang Constitution. There is a tendency of increase in the sympathetic activity in Soyangin. There is a tendency of decrease in the parasympathetic activity in Taeeumin and Soeumin.

안면견갑상완형(Fascioscapulohumeral:FSH) 근이영양증 1례에 대한 증례보고 (A Clinical Study on the case of Fascioscapulohumeral (FSH) Muscular Dystrophy Treated with Traditional Korean Medicine)

  • Objective : There was no report on the treatment of Fascioscapulohumeral (FSH) Muscular Dystrophy by Oriental medicine. But the treatment conducted on the patient admitted to the Sangji Oriental Medicine Hospital from January 9, 2001 to February 23, 2001, a significant treatment result was yielded and would like to suggest treatment plan for the future treatments. Methods : Under the assumption that Korean Bee-Venom Therapy may be affective for treating FSH Muscular Dystrophy, the following points were administered : SI10(노유), SI11(天宗), BL23(腎兪), BL26(關元兪), ST36(足三里), LI4(合谷), Liv3(太衝), SI9(肩貞). CFC(Carthami Flos;紅花 and Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu;鹿茸) herbal extract was treated on the other acupuncture points. Sa-Am(Four needle technique) Acupuncture (tonifying SI5 and ST42, sedating GB41 and ST43) was done every day. For herbal medicine, TaeEumIn ChoWiSeungChung-Tang was given based on the constitutional diagnosis. Results : After 7 weeks of treatment, a remarkable improvement was made for facial muscular movement and muscular strength of the scapular and another regions. Conclusions : 1. Significant improvement in the muscular strength for the case of FSH Muscular Dystrophy was obtained with through Korean Bee-Venom Therapy, Four needle technique, and herbal medication. 2. For progressive muscular dystrophy, it is necessary to practice muscular strength recovery exercise in conjunction with Korean Bee-Venom Therapy. 3. Although this case yielded favorable result, further observation and study must be made to concretely prove the effectiveness of Korean Bee-Venom Therapy for treating muscular dystrophies.

Purpose: This study was intended to consider through a bibliographical comparison between the system of Kabo-Bon ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$ and that of Shinehook-Pan ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$. 2. Method: This study was based on the ${\ulcorner}$Hamsansachon Dongyi Soose Bowon old Kabo-Bon${\lrcorner}$, which was compared with a bibliographical data from Shinchook-Pan ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$ and the collection of manuscripts left unpublished in Lee Je-ma's lifetime. 3. Result & Conclusion: Exterior-Interior Pathological system was found in the system of Kabo-Bon ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$, and it might be referred to that of Jang Joong-kyung's ${\ulcorner}$Shanghan Ron${\lrcorner}$. There were no 'the Discourse on the Origin of oriental Medicine' and 'the Discourse on the General Health Maintenance' in the Kabo-Bon ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$. And it was supposed to be many changes of contents on 'the Discourse on Nature and Order', 'the Discourse on the Four Principles', 'the Discourse on the Establishment and Supplement' and 'the Discourse on Viscera and Bowels' in the Shinchook-Pan ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$ compared with those in the Kabo-Bon ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon${\lrcorner}$.

사상체질(四象體質) 진단법(診斷法)의 문헌적(文獻的) 고찰(考察) - 외형(外形), 심성(心性), 증(證)을 위주(爲主)로 - (The Bibliographical Investigation of Sasang Constitution Diagnosis)

  • 1. 연구목적 동서양과 고금을 통해 많은 체질 이론들이 있었지만 그 중에서도 이제마의 사상의학은 이론과 임상이 체계적으로 연계되어 있어서 널리 사용되고 있다. 이제마는 동의수세보원의 사단론(四端論), 변증론(辨證論) 등에서 체질진단의 근거로 외형(外形), 심성(心性), 증(證)의 세 가지를 제시하였으나 세 가지 기준별 임상적 중요도에 대한 연구가 이루어진 바가 없어서 임상에서 세 가지 진단 기준을 종합적으로 활용하는데 많은 어려움이 있는 형편이다. 그러므로 향후 세 가지 체질진단 기준을 임상에 적용하여 각각의 기준이 지니는 임상적 중요도를 검증하는 연구가 필요하다고 보며, 본 논문에서는 이러한 임상적 연구에 앞서 기존의 체질진단 연구를 외형(外形)과 심성(心性), 증(證)의 세 가지로 분류, 고찰하는 기초적 연구를 하고자 한다. 2. 연구방법 <동의수세보원(東醫壽世保元)>과 사상의학회지 및 사상의학 관련 도서를 중심으로 문헌적 고찰을 하였다. 본론에서는 그간의 연구들을 세 가지로 분류하여 열거하였으며. 고찰에서는 임상적으로 활용이 가능하거나 이미 완료된 연구 위주로 논하였다. 3. 연구결과 (1) 외형(外形)에 관한 연구 경험과 직관적 관찰을 통한 기상(氣像)과 사기(詞氣)위주의 연구가 선행되었고 이를 바탕으로 체형(體形)과 용모(容貌)의 실제 계측을 통한 각 체질별 이미지 정형화 연구가 진행되고 있다. 체질진단의 정확률 제고를 위해서는 이 두 가지 방법을 균형있게 활용해야 한다. (2) 심성(心性)에 대한 연구 각종 연구나 진단의 객관화 등을 위해 자기보고식 설문조사 기법이 체질진단에 응용되고 있으며, 현재까지 개발된 설문지를 이용함에는 사상변증내용설문조사지(I)의 판별식을 이용한 결과와 QSCCll의 결과를 함께 참고하는 것이 적절하다. (3) 증(證)에 대한 연구 체질증과 체질병증에 대한 연구는 원리론적 연구와 체질별 임상증상 유형에 관한 연구, 기존의 증치의학적 병증관을 사상의학적 병증개념에 적용시켜 해석하고자 하는 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 향후 현대적인 의미의 다양한 병증을 사상의학적 관점에서 해석하고 진단하기 위한 객관화 연구가 필요하며, 또한 체질의 편차를 야기시키는 근본적 문제인 장국(臟局)의 대소(大小) 및 장리(臟理)에 대한 연구도 필요하다.

동무(東武) 사상의학(四象醫學)의 철학적(哲學的) 의의(意義)와 의학적(醫學的) 확장(擴張) (Study on Philosophy and Medical meaning of Sassang Constitutional Medicine)

  • This research is purposed to find Dong-mu's thought on 'philosophy and medical interrelationship' in his writings. It was researched with Dong-mu's chief medical writings such as ${\ulcorner}$Gyukchigo(格致藁)${\lrcorner}$ , ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon(東醫壽世保元) ${\lrcorner}$ , ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷)${\lrcorner}$ , ${\ulcorner}$Dong-mu's posthumos work(東武遺稿)${\lrcorner}$ Dong-mu describe his philosophy conception with the system of The Book of change(周易). But he changes the meaning of Taegeuk(太極), LangYui(兩儀), Sasang(四象) on the respect of human being. Gyuchigo(格致藁) can be understood as social behavior pattern of Sasang constitute. From ${\ulcorner}$Gyukchigo(格致藁)${\lrcorner}$ to The theory of Sung-Meung(性命論), It is focused on Nature(性) and Order(命). Affairs- Mind - Body-Objects(事心身物) was distributed at Heaven-Human -Nature-Order(天人性命) on the respect of Human Moral. In the respect of Form-Use(體用), It is assigned to Form(體) and metaphysical philosophy. After The theory of Sa-Dan(四端論) in ${\ulcorner}$Dongyi Soose Bowon(東醫壽世保元) ${\lrcorner}$, It is focused on Nature-Emotion(性情). Affairs - Mind - Body - Objects(事心身物)is distributed at Heaven-Human -Nature-Order (天人性命) on the respect of human internal mind. In the respect of Form-Use(體用), It is assigned to Use(用) and Physical science. Sasang Constitution can be expanded to Eight COnstitution in the respect of dominant position among Nature(性) and Emotion(情).
